    1. Inscription

Regarding this novel, just say a few words casually, and write an essay in the nature of a random note.

I used to read books, and after reading them, I was very keen on writing casual and commentary texts.  Because I am keen on writing this kind of so-called "word game", I was once ridiculed as doing the "most boring" thing.  At that time, I seemed to be very concerned about other people's pointers and criticisms, so after that, I tried to do as little as possible, or even didn't do it.  Even so, my long-standing habit is still there, and I can't help but feel itchy. After reading a book, I always want to write my thoughts and comments.

Regarding the changes and changes in the surrounding personnel, I rarely think about it, and I am too lazy to think about it.  Whenever I am free, I will always consciously or unconsciously think about the words that have passed my eyes.

I finished reading the Australian novel "The Thorn Birds".

After reading the novel, if you are still repeating the outline and content of the novel here, that would be the "most boring" thing.  However, I know that I do not have the ability to elevate the text written after reading this novel to the level of so-called theory, and use the "framework" used by so-called experts and scholars to explain it.

Tibetan clumsiness is a virtue that China has preached since ancient times.  I think that not showing ugliness may be more or less reserved.

Therefore, what I can say about this novel is just my opinion, and perhaps these opinions are only in the rut.

However, when writing these words, if it is just to express "shallow views", that is not my original intention at all.

This is what I must seriously explain.

    2. Sanyi

The classic line in the novel that I can remember is what the man said to "Silk":

"If I don't want to marry you, I won't want you."

The "want" here, a discerning person can know what it is talking about at a glance.  Probably there is no need for any "sighting", most adult men and women will understand what he is talking about at a glance.

What do you "want yours"?  Of course it's not property. In a normal man's mind, what he "want" would not have any other deep meaning besides his body.

If this is described by a male writer, I would say that this is probably just a high-sounding lie.  However, these words come from the hands of a female writer.  Therefore, I have to say that this is probably just a kind woman's innocent fantasy, beautiful dream, and sweet ideal.

In real life, whether in the past, present, or future, whether in the East, West, or anywhere else, there may be people like men who pursue "silk", but after all, there are not many.  For most women, such a man is just a matter of thinking and dreaming. If you want to meet them in person, you may be a "white boy" and you may not have such a chance.  Opportunities may not necessarily lead to a successful combination and to grow old together.

Even so, I still express my sincere appreciation for the author's lines, just like appreciating the beautiful words of the man who pursued "silk".

The reason why I am interested in this novel may be due to the obvious characteristics of this novel, that is, the writing is undisguised and never unaffected: feminine and humanized under the feelings of women.

    3. Scatter two

Flooding is like a river that sometimes drowns a person.

The flood of sex is like the sky fire in the novel, sometimes it can devour a person.

It seemed impossible to be able to cross the river of death without being burned beyond recognition by the fire of the world.

Based on the above points of understanding, I always feel that the humanized and feminine characteristics or tendencies in the novel sometimes become a kind of burden to the novel.

Just like all double-edged swords, the femininity naturally revealed in the novel will simply move me, and let me appreciate the delicacy of the author's writing;  The tolerance of people allows me to see the true display of human nature.  This is the good side shown to me by the humanity and femininity in the novel.

But at the same time, the other side of femininity and humanity seems to me to have a negative effect.  This negative effect has caused what I think is the "flaw" of the novel: for the sake of "reunion", it makes people feel that the development of the storyline in the novel seems a bit far-fetched;  Personality is so vague that it is almost an insignificant ornament.

Maybe you will say that the non-main characters in the novel don't need to be too much ink.  However, it must be clear that there is no necessary logical relationship between the amount of ink and the fullness of the character's personality.  In Chinese novels or other literary works, non-main charactersThe novels with the material as the background originate from life, so there should not be too many violations of common sense, rebellion against common sense, or contrary to common sense.  Of course, this requirement is limited to those novels that describe a life with which most people are familiar.

If the novelist deliberately violates common sense, rebels against common sense, or goes against common sense for the sake of the integrity of the novel structure and the satisfactory ending of the novel, or the author of the novel because of his own limitations, he is either trying to make the reader think that he is clever.  Be a fool, or the author himself has written to the point where his talents are exhausted.

    6. San Wu

In this novel, I am full of praise and sincere admiration for the humanized descriptions or tendencies revealed by most of the authors consciously or unconsciously.  However, I think the author's description of the many sons of "Fei" seems a little unreasonable.

In order to complete the family, the author seems to deliberately write these sons of "Fei" like the castrated sheep.  This is really unacceptable.

If it is said that the boss released the energy in his body in the rage and violence, and exhausted his youth in prison, his "castrated" state is barely understandable.

Sorry, I don't remember very clearly!  If it is said that the eighth is still the seventh because a bullet in the war lost a man's lifeblood, his desirelessness still makes sense.  Although the words are harsh, he was really "castrated" by the war.

Except for the two mentioned above, which we can explain ourselves, the innocence and non-marriage of the other sons are completely unreasonable and cannot be justified.  Could it be that they were bewitched by the witch?

Facing my doubts, I wonder how the novelist will explain it?

In my humble opinion, there is only one reason, and it is very simple. The novelist just wants to end the family.  Of course, it doesn't mean that this family can't be ended, but it should end in a way that makes people feel logical.

All of this is too contrary to common sense, logic, and reason.

As stated earlier in this article:

Flooding is like a river that sometimes drowns a person.

The flood of sex is like the sky fire in the novel, sometimes it can devour a person.

In this novel, "Ji" is a person who entrusts himself to God, and the doctrine requires abstinence. He worships God so much, and he is still not immune to sex in the secular world.

"Fei"'s eight or nine sons are all the same, ruthless and desireless, is it possible?  reasonable?

In the novel, "Pa" is a normal man; "Ji" is a normal man; the bishop doesn't know if he is a normal man, at least he understands a normal man; "Mei"'s husband is even a normal man; "En"  Before he could be a man, he turned into ashes. According to the reasoning of the whole novel, if "the year of vacation", he must also be a normal man.

Just kidding: I'm a man, and I can't say how much I know about men, but at least I know a little about myself, at this point.

    7. Scattered six

The flaws do not conceal the merits, and most of the novel is worthy of admiration and must be affirmed.

We are all pursuing perfection, so it is inevitable that we will be a little demanding on the author of the novel, but we must be clear that this kind of demanding is not malicious, but just a well-intentioned criticism.

Say a few words about the narrative style of the novel.

If the narrative of the novel adopts the first-person method, the author's emotion will be reflected in the first-person speech and action. Autobiographical novels often adopt this method.  For the time being, I will call this narrative style self-narrative.

Compared with the self-narrative style, another way of narration can be the other-narrative style.  The characteristic of the narrative style of the other is that the novel is written in the way of storytelling, and all the characters in the book are the objects of the author's narration.

The narrative style of this novel is what I call the narrative style of others.

As for other-narrative novels, my point of view is: judgments about right and wrong, good and evil in novels should be fair, and if they are too emotional, it seems not good.

Because, if the author blindly judges the object he is describing emotionally and emotionally, the following problems will arise:

First, it seems to question and distrust the readers' judgment.

Second, it will affect readers' judgment of the characters in the book.

Third, if readers feel that they are being led by the nose, readers will be very uncomfortable.

Fourth, the author has always expressed his emotionality in the strong love and hatred for the narrator, which will make people doubt the author's rationality and fairness.

In my opinion, the other narrative should maintain a rational and fair attitude as much as possible.

According to my point of view, the author of this novel has something that I find hard to accept.  For example, for the description of the old lady, the author has a very obvious disgust in it: he calls her an "old spider" and writes her death as disgusting and horrible.

According to my thinking, death is disgusting and terrifying, as the plot of the novel requires, it can be handled in this way.  However, it is unfair and even unreasonable to deliberately vilify this character with disgusting brushstrokes.

Is the old lady really that disgusting?  As far as the events of the novel are concerned, this does not seem to be the case.  It's just that the author who has been in a mood is forcing readers to dislike the old lady in terms of the harshness of the text, which seems not very good.
