Chapter 399: Gunshots in the Suburbs of Beijing

Tang Qiuli made up his mind to abandon Peiping, and felt much more relaxed. He told his wife Mei Ting the whole process of his inner struggle. He had no other choice but to seek some comfort from his wife, which also made him feel more relaxed.

Mei Ting listened to her husband's words quietly with a peaceful smile. Then, she gently took Tang Qiuli's head into her arms, leaned on her towering breasts, and slowly stroked his black and white complexion.  Chen's short hair, this is his favorite pose.

"Qiu Li, as long as you have matured your mind and are afraid of any other infamy, if there is any, I am willing to bear it with you. I believe that you can take back a complete Beiping City from the hands of the Japanese.  , all the infamy will disappear.¡±

Mei Ting said softly, that's enough. With Mei Ting's words, Tang Qiuli felt comforted all his life. He held Mei Ting's white face and carefully looked at his beloved wife's big black and white eyes, which were like autumn water.  So bright and pure, he kissed his wife deeply on her red and plump lips. It wasn't until Mei Ting was out of breath that she relaxed, and then burst out laughing.

Ma Heng, director of the Palace Museum, is also the president of the newly established Museum Association of the Republic of China. He is a knowledgeable and respected old man who has devoted his life to protecting Chinese cultural relics.

When Tang Qiuli saw him, the old man was sweating profusely in sorting out a cultural relic. He was quite surprised to see the number one person in Pingjin visiting him in person. However, there was no flattery or flattery on his face, and he asked Tang Qiu indifferently.  Qiu Li sat down.

Tang Qiuli explained the purpose of his visit. Ma Heng was very surprised and sighed. His face was dull and his eyes were blank. He seemed to be mumbling to himself, what?  Peiping cannot be saved, and these cultural relics will be burned by soldiers. What do you soldiers do?

Tang Qiuli was speechless. He could not say so many truths to this pure scholar-type old man Ma Heng. No matter what, the city of Beiping could not be saved.

Tang Qiuli walked out of the house, Ma Heng followed him, staggering a little. Tang Qiuli pointed to the majestic Forbidden City and stroked the Panlong Pillar, "Dean Ma, tell me, how many shells can this withstand? Japan  People will show no mercy!¡±

Ma Heng was silent. He also knew that Tang Qiuli was telling the truth. He sighed, "Commander Tang, what are your plans? I am willing to listen attentively!"

After asking for the approval of the Nanjing National Government, all the cultural relics in the National Palace Museum in Peking that could be moved were packed and shipped away. However, it was not as happened in history. It was first transported to the south, and after many twists and turns, it was transferred to Chongqing.

Instead, they were packed and shipped westward to the Dingbian Special Economic Zone. At the same time, all the experts and staff of the Palace Museum in Peking also went to Dingbian, where a new museum was being built, and the conditions were many times better than those in Peking.

Tang Qiuli mobilized the automobile transport unit. After more than ten days of busy work, all the national treasures and cultural relics that could be transported had been loaded on the automobile. Tang Qiuli also sent Liu Chun's First Cavalry Brigade to escort all the way, and all the experts  and cultural relics, arrived at Dingbian safely.

After dealing with these worries, it was already mid-June. Tang Qiuli ordered all the troops of the 29th Army stationed in Peiping City to move to the outskirts of Peiping, stationed at various garrison points, built field fortifications, and at the same time, began to move the troops in the city.  Industrial and mining enterprises, machinery and equipment, and evacuated urban populations.

Even though he had no choice but to abandon Peiping, he still wanted to leave an empty city to the Japanese and create an urban version of solid walls and clearing the countryside. Therefore, all residents in the city must be relocated. Those who seek refuge with relatives and friends will be responsible for the payment of travel expenses by the Hebei-Cha Government Affairs Committee.  If you want to go to the Taihang Mountains or the Dingbian Special Economic Zone, the military engineer will be responsible for transportation and living arrangements.

The evacuation order was issued by the Pingjin Police Headquarters. For a time, the railways and highways leading to other places in Peiping were filled with people and cars and trains were busy every day.

The Japanese troops surrounding Peiping were dumbfounded and at a loss what to do. They couldn't figure out what the Chinese devil Tang Qiuli was up to. Was he trying to turn Peiping into a purely military fortress and occupy the city?  Hold on and fight to the death with the Imperial Japanese Army?

The Japanese army wanted to stop them, but had no legitimate excuse. They could only watch the Chinese leave Peiping every day. A few days later, in the huge city of nearly one million people, except for the large number of policemen who stayed behind, no one else could be seen.  Of course, there are also citizens who disobey orders and do everything possible to hide.

They were secretly glad that they had finally escaped disaster. Little did they know that after the Japanese army occupied Peiping, since there were almost no residents in the city, these people became the targets of oppression by the Japanese army and suffered dozens of times more bullying and oppression.  How can you know that a blessing in disguise is a blessing in disguise?

On June 8, the Okamura Brigade of the 3rd Infantry Brigade of the Japanese North China Garrison held a military exercise in the Changxindian area where the 29th Army was stationed.? area, only two kilometers away from the 29th Army defense area. During this period, several artillery shells suddenly hit the Chinese garrison position, causing serious injuries to several Chinese defenders.

The 135th Regiment of the 38th Division of the 29th Army stationed here immediately entered the position. After asking Army Commander Tang Qiuli for instructions, they prepared to attack the Japanese army.

At this time, the Japanese army sent people to contact them, claiming that the artillery misplaced the coordinates, causing the artillery target to leave the exercise area, causing accidental injuries to the Chinese. They were deeply sorry for this, and were willing to take all responsibility and compensate for the losses.  Evacuate the area immediately.

On the morning of June 13, the Chinese defenders stationed at Nanyuan Airport in Peking were conducting routine drills. Suddenly, six Japanese fighter jets and bombers in a mixed formation forcibly landed on the runway of Nanyuan Airport, and were immediately surrounded by Chinese defenders.

The Japanese Air Force officer who led the team said that because the navigation instrument on the aircraft suddenly malfunctioned, the fleet lost its way and could not find its return route. There was little fuel left in the aircraft. It happened to fly over Nanyuan Airport and had no choice but to land at Nanyuan Airport.  Yuan Airport.

Immediately, the Japanese North China Garrison Command also sent personnel to contact them. The Japanese side is doing their best to search for the whereabouts of this aviation unit. They are very grateful to the Chinese people for their great help, which allowed the pilots of the Empire of Japan to survive.

Accompanying this officer were several trucks of fuel and a large number of maintenance technicians. However, the Japanese technicians were acting suspiciously. They seemed to be taking pictures of the landscape of our Nanyuan Airport and looking around for airport facilities.

Asked Commander Tang for his opinion, Commander Tang immediately called back and allowed the Japanese technicians to conduct on-site reconnaissance without any restrictions. The commander of the garrison was puzzled and unwilling, but still strictly implemented the order. Japanese aircraft and maintenance personnel were at Nanyuan Airport.  Stayed for ten hours.

The Japanese aircraft took off first and left, but the ground personnel used the excuse that a Japanese technician was missing and searched for it in the airport. A few hours later, the Japanese technician returned to the team and the Japanese troops evacuated.

On June 19, in Gaobeidian, an eastern suburb of Peiping, a squadron of Japanese soldiers, without any firearms, requested to pass through the defense area of ??the Chinese defenders and enter the city of Peiping. The defenders refused, and a quarrel ensued.  In the large-scale fighting, soldiers from both the Japanese army and our side were injured, mostly the Japanese army, but no homicide occurred.

Immediately, the Japanese North China Garrison Command sent a letter of protest, claiming that it did not carry firearms and that its soldiers on vacation were suddenly attacked by heavily armed Chinese soldiers and injured many people. Our North China Garrison was absolutely unacceptable.  Demand that the authorities in North China give a reasonable explanation and severely punish the Chinese who injured our soldiers of the Imperial Japanese Army.

The Japanese army then sent a major general and senior staff officer to negotiate with our department and determined to take away our soldiers. Commander Tang did not come forward in person. His written reply to the Japanese army was: "Fight if you want. What's the point? This kind of childish trick,  It¡¯s better to put it away. If something bad like this happens again, our army will no longer use fists and kicks, but bullets!¡±

The Japanese major general was furious and claimed that Commander Tang's move was actually a deliberate attempt to provoke disputes between the two countries. He would lodge a serious protest with the Nanjing government and report the matter to the Japanese government. Japan regarded this as a provocation and aggression against the Japanese Empire.  With extreme contempt, Japan reserves the right to take further actions.

Watching the Japanese envoy leave, all the officers of the 29th Army once again read out Commander Tang's reply to the Japanese army. They laughed loudly, and the room was filled with a roar. The sound shook the roof tiles. They all felt that their blood was boiling, and their morale was greatly boosted.  They all wanted to fight the Japanese army.

At midnight on June 23, Dongguang Camp in the northern suburbs of Peiping, where the 7th Company of the 210th Regiment of the 38th Division of our 29th Army was stationed, was suddenly attacked by unidentified militants. There were about 400 attackers.  It is more than three times the strength of our defenders.

Our defenders, with more than 120 soldiers, stood firm and fought bloody battles with the incoming enemy. The position was broken through many times and recaptured. The two sides fought fiercely. After more than two hours of fierce fighting, our reinforcements arrived.  The attackers retreated.

Observing its retreat direction, we found that it was the Japanese army's Shunyi barracks, and the attackers all used Japanese-style firearms. In this battle, the seventh company of our 210th regiment lost 38 officers and soldiers and injured more than 40 people. The casualties of the attackers are unknown.  , no body of the attacker was found at the scene.

After the war, following the orders of Commander Tang, the defenders of the Dongguang Battalion were increased to a strong battalion and equipped with a machine gun battery. A large number of mines were laid along the direction of the attacker's attack and in the surrounding areas.

On June 28, in the Xiangshan area in the western suburbs of Peiping, the Qingshui Regiment of the Sixth Division of the Japanese North China Garrison Army, in the name of conducting mountain exercises, asked the Chinese garrison here, the 132nd Division of the 29th Army, to  Regiment, evacuate the area to avoid accidental injuries during the exercise and cause disputes.

The regiment received the order from Commander Tang and refused to give in. It immediately blocked all roads and passes and prepared for battle. The Japanese army set up artillery positions at the foot of the mountain. The two sides were in a stalemate for a day and night, and then the Japanese army took the initiative to withdraw.

During this period, Tang Qiuli received all the people stationed inThe 29th Army troops guarding the outskirts of Peiping reported various situations, without exception, in which the Japanese troops retreated on their own initiative, thus declaring that the tense situation had been relieved. The situation that seemed to be on the verge of breaking out was temporarily extinguished every time.

Tang Qiuli was in the headquarters, with a sneer on his face in front of the generals, watching the Japanese jumping around like monkeys who had taken aphrodisiacs, and was very busy.

He warned commanders at all levels of the 29th Army that in early July this year, there will be large-scale fighting in the Marco Polo Bridge and Wanping areas. Everything happening now is an illusion created by the Japanese army. All units are ready for battle, and the generals are stunned.  Puzzled.
