Chapter 934 Do whatever you want

Especially the Pakistan Navy and Air Force, their enthusiasm for the Z-12 is like a little virgin who is knowledgeable in human affairs. When he sees the goddess of his dreams, he wishes to die for her.

There is no way. In addition to its excellent plateau capabilities, the Z-12 helicopter also has extremely strong sea and air mission execution capabilities.

Especially at sea, thanks to the Z-12¡¯s lightweight fuselage design and powerful turboshaft engine, the Z-12 can perform take-off and landing operations on a variety of ships.

For example, the US-made Keeling-class guided-missile destroyers currently equipped by the Pakistan Navy and the Type-21 guided-missile frigates just introduced from the United Kingdom, the Z-12 helicopter can easily take off, land, and even park on these ships.

This is tantamount to a huge boost for the Pakistan Navy.

You must know that although the Pakistan Navy attaches great importance to the development of technical equipment, due to its own financial resources, it has to make choices in other aspects while taking into account the overall situation.

Because of this, the Pakistan Navy focuses on the construction of surface ships and underwater submarines, while the equally important naval aviation can only be put back.

It¡¯s okay to say that combat aircraft provide air cover. With the elite Pakistan Air Force providing cover, they can still provide a clear sky for Pakistani surface ships.

But there are very few special aircraft used at sea.

The biggest shortcoming is the ship-based helicopter.

You must know that Pakistan currently has 5 Keeling-class destroyers and 6 Type 21 frigates. These 11 main ships are all surface ships capable of carrying carrier-based helicopters.

How many helicopters does the Pakistan Navy have?

It's a bit pitiful to say that there are only 9, of which the 8-ton "Sea King" helicopters account for one-third, 3. They are mainly used for anti-submarine patrols and emergency rescue missions outside the Pakistani naval base, and cannot be carried out.  Ocean missions accompanying the ship.

It¡¯s not that the Pakistan Navy doesn¡¯t want to, but the displacement of the surface ships on hand is too small, and the take-off and landing deck and hangar at the rear are limited in size, and there is no way to carry the take-off and landing of an 8-ton large helicopter such as the "Sea King" helicopter.

The remaining six are Skylark 3 helicopters produced in France. Their maximum take-off weight is only 2 tons. They belong to the category of small helicopters and can be carried by Pakistan's main surface ships.

However, due to the limited layout of the Skylark 3 helicopter platform, it is unable to carry advanced detection equipment and rescue equipment. This results in the Skylark 3 helicopter being able to only carry out specific tasks in specific sea areas under the command of surface ships.

For example, a surface ship uses hull sonar to detect a suspicious submarine, and guides the Skylark 3 helicopter to carry an anti-submarine torpedo to launch an attack in the suspected submarine area.

For another example, if someone calls for help in a certain sea area, the Skylark 3 helicopter will go to the sea area where the accident occurred under the guidance of the surface ship and perform low-altitude visual search and rescue.

Under such circumstances, the mission execution capability of the Skylark 3 helicopter is very low, and it is just fine for ordinary daily work. Once it encounters a complex situation, the Skylark 3 helicopter cannot perform well.

One of the two helicopters cannot be boarded on a ship, and the other has a limited mission level. Therefore, the Pakistan Navy urgently needs a multi-mission light helicopter with independent combat capabilities to make up for the lack of aviation power of current surface ships.

To this end, the Pakistan Navy is not without ideas. For example, while they introduced the British Type 21 guided missile frigate, they also conducted an extremely detailed performance test on the "Lynx" helicopter also produced in the United Kingdom, and found it very good.

However, after the two sides entered into substantive negotiations, the unit price of US$38 million still made the Pakistan Navy prohibitive. You must know that the Type 21 frigate they introduced cost less than US$50 million. Although it is a second-hand product, its performance is still very good, at least in  The technical level is better than that of Suzhou products in New Delhi.

As a result, a carrier-based helicopter is almost worth a surface ship, so it is not cost-effective no matter how you calculate it.

So the introduction of the "Lynx" helicopter was postponed.

It wasn't until the Pakistan Navy witnessed the outstanding capabilities of the Z-12 during the Karakoram Pass earthquake, and conducted a more in-depth test of the Z-12's maritime mission execution capabilities during its subsequent visit to China, that it decisively abandoned it.  It hit the British "Lynx" and pounced directly on the Z-12.

The reason for this is very simple, mainly due to the excellent modular design of the Z-12.

When used as a ship-based helicopter, the Z-12 can be equipped with different mission modules according to different mission requirements, which can be roughly divided into four categories: maritime rescue module, anti-submarine attack module, anti-ship strike module and maritime assault module.

The sea rescue module is based on the basic model plus a rescue sling, medical first aid equipment andThe airborne search radar can perform independent search and rescue missions for about 3 hours within a radius of 150 kilometers with the surface ship it is on board as the core, and can also cooperate with other platforms to carry out three-dimensional rescue work.

Anti-submarine attack module, which is a comprehensive electronic search system with a sea search radar and a light point detection system as the core added to the basic model. At the same time, it is equipped with a hoisted active and passive reconnaissance sonar under the belly.  , combined with the 12 sonar buoys at the tail of the aircraft body and the electronic control equipment inside the aircraft body, it can conduct anti-submarine searches in sea areas with a radius of 200 kilometers.

Once the submarine¡¯s whereabouts are discovered, it will immediately use the 4 light anti-submarine torpedoes it carries to carry out precise strikes.

The anti-ship strike module retains the comprehensive electronic search system of the anti-submarine attack module, removes the anti-submarine sonar search system and anti-submarine torpedoes, and replaces them with a fire control guidance system. In conjunction with the four C-701 small anti-ship missiles,  It can pose a fatal threat to small surface ships with a displacement of less than 1,500 tons.

As for the final maritime assault type, it is much simpler. Two machine gun mounts are fixed on both sides of the fuselage, and 8 fully armed special forces are loaded. It can use the radar blind spots in the ground and air to conduct rapid assault and penetration along the local coast.

In order to facilitate the replacement and combination of various modules, Ascendas Group has reserved many interfaces for the basic model of the Z-12 helicopter. For example, the search radar under the nose can be removed by removing the cover and opening a few fixed bayonet ports.  After being installed smoothly and connected to the console fixed in the cabin using a dedicated line reserved in advance, the radar search function for the sea can be realized.

Based on this, whether it is anti-ship or anti-submarine, or maritime assault and maritime rescue, it depends on the specific needs of the user. In short, the Zhi-12 is like a little girl who can be dressed up as desired, as salty or sweet, as you like.

It is such an excellent carrier-based helicopter. The unit price is only US$12 million, and even with the corresponding module kit, it is only US$18 million.

Compared with the British clear water house, the empty "Lynx" basic model, the straight-12 with both fine and luxurious decorations, the Pakistan Navy couldn't even think about it, so it found the Arab religious foundation controlled by Maxim without even thinking.  Apply for $100 million in special aid.

There is no other way, if someone can help pay the bill, who can use their own money!
