On May 20, the enemy's 13th Division was stationed on the line near Quanfuchong and Yuyangguan. At the same time, the enemy's 3rd Division had also completed its assembly near Chayuan Temple.  The 39th Division assembled near Yunchi, southeast of Yichang on the north bank of the Yangtze River; the field detachment also assembled in Yichang.  The Japanese divisions quickly prepared for combat after gathering.

On May 21, the Japanese began a large-scale attack.

In the morning of that day, the main force of the Japanese Thirteenth Division advanced towards Yuyang Pass through the boundary sign and city wall entrance, and met the 121st Division of the 94th Army guarding this pass. Both sides attacked and defended fiercely, causing casualties on each other.

At the same time, in the lower reaches of the Yuyang River, the Japanese Third Division also launched an attack on Wangjiafan from Chayuan Temple, which was the outpost of the Pianyan position.  The Japanese Third Division was the main force in the Eleventh Army. From the Anxiang and Nanxian operations on the eastern front of this battle to the Public Security and Songzi operations, this division was the first to initiate it.  Soon, Wangjiafan was captured. More than 3,000 men of the Third Division turned their troops north, and together with a Japanese army from Zhijiang, they divided into two groups to attack Huangjiapu and Xiangxiang of the 67th Division of the 86th Army.  Shuidong and Qilin Mountain positions were used for a pincer attack.  After more than three hours of fierce fighting between the national army and the enemy, the main force of the division turned to Moshi, Changyang, and one part moved towards Fengshan. The enemy followed. The two sides once again faced off in Moshi, with numerous casualties.

On the night of the 21st, the enemy gathered at the 39th Division near Yunchi on the other side of the Yangtze River. Under the cover of artillery fire, they forcibly crossed the river and attacked the Chadianzi and Honghuatao positions of the 13th Division of the 86th Army.  And the Shataozi Naval Fortress Fort launched an attack.  The naval officers and soldiers of the Thirteenth Division and the fortress rose up to resist and fought fiercely with the enemy across the river until dawn.

Still on the night of the 21st, after being unable to attack Yuyang Pass for a long time, more than 2,000 enemy troops bypassed the front pass and made a detour from the northeast in an attempt to surround the 121st Division. However, they were discovered by the defenders and immediately blocked them.  However, the enemy's follow-up reinforcements continued to arrive. The two sides fought a bloody battle in front of Yuyang Pass from night to noon the next day. The 121st Division was finally outnumbered and had to evacuate Yuyang Pass despite serious casualties.  , and transferred to the line between Chuanxindian and Longtanping in Changyang.

On the 22nd, when Chief Chen heard the news of the fall of Yuyang Pass, he couldn't help but feel extremely anxious. He urgently discussed countermeasures with Guo Wan and other staff, fearing that the enemy would attack in the direction of Wufeng and Enshi, so he hurriedly dispatched two troops to Jianshi.  Set up defenses at Yono Sanguan.  However, the Japanese did not attack westward, leaving only one force to guard Yuyang Pass, while the main force headed north, pointing at Duzhen Bay on the edge of the Qingjiang River.  At this point, the enemy's combat intention has been completely exposed, and the only option is to seize the stone tablet!

On the 22nd, the committee sent another urgent telegram from Chongqing. In the telegram, there was not much blame for the fall of Yuyang Pass, but there was an unquestionable order: "Shipai Fortress should be assigned a division to defend it.  !".

This is really a dead order.  By this time, everyone could see that Shipai was the core of this war, and this core was so heavy and critical that there was no room for negotiation.

Similarly, there is no room for negotiation with the 11th Division. The 11th Division has been guarding Shipai for nearly two years. This powerful force of the national army has truly reached the moment of being tested. It can only take on this glorious and tragic task without hesitation.  Task.

Still on the 22nd, the enemy's 3rd Division broke through the 67th Division's Moshi defense line, crossed the Yuyang River, occupied Niejiahe Town, and advanced towards Changyang City in Qingjiang.  The 67th Division fought several battles with the enemy and suffered more than half of its casualties. It had to move westward one by one and crossed the Qingjiang River north of Duzhen Bay.

Almost at the same time, the Japanese Yegou detachment stationed in Zhijiang coordinated with the 29th Division of Wang Jingwei's puppet army to capture Yidu City.

At this point, Shipai's first line of defense on the Yuyang River was broken through by the enemy, and the national army had to retreat to the second line of defense on the Qingjiang River.

    ****************

On May 23, the enemy's 39th Division successfully crossed the river and entered the Wangjiapeng area.  Since Yidu's river defense had been broken through by the Japanese, threatening the right wing and rear of the Thirteenth Division, the Thirteenth Division moved back and held the line between Langzikou and Xiliuxi.

Also at dawn on this day, except for the Japanese Yegou detachment and the puppet troops who occupied Yidu, who remained on guard, the Japanese 39th Division, the 3rd Division and the 13th Division all concentrated their efforts and divided the area.  A full-line attack was launched from the areas near Wangjiapeng, Moshi, and Yuyangguan to the National Army's 10th Group Army and the Jiang Defense Army.  The battle was extremely fierce, the national army lost a lot of strength, and its combat effectiveness was seriously reduced. Although they tried hard to stop the attack, they were eventually forced to move one after another due to lack of strength.

On May 24, the Japanese 39th Division arrived at Xiliuxi, the 3rd Division captured Changyang, and the 13th Division captured Duzhenwan.  When all units arrived at the areas on the north and south banks of the Qingjiang River, the Japanese field brigade controlled in the Yichang area also attacked westward from the bridgehead area on the south bank of the Yangtze River in Yichang in an attempt to cut off the retreat route of the national army to the north.

this?: "The committee member sent another telegram, saying that in the battle here, the military is first, the sixth theater is first, and the stone is first! So I hope everyone will persevere to the end and strive for the final victory. Do you have confidence?  "

"Yes!" Zhang Xian was the first to shout. Everyone looked at him and shouted in unison: "Yes!"

Commander Chen nodded and made arrangements for the war zone.  First, the 74th Army was ordered to take charge of the 51st and 58th Divisions and assemble near Taifu Mountain and Shimen to be on standby.  Second, order the 79th Army to advance from Shimen to the Yuyang Pass and Wufengjian areas, expel the enemies south of Yuyang Pass, and attack the enemies in Changyang.  Third, the original attacking troops of the 161st Division of the 29th Group Army were directed to attack Sinai and Liujiachang, while the reorganized troops of the 73rd Army opened Shimen to defend.  Fourth, the Tenth Army was ordered to secure the two key points of Wufeng and Ziqiu, and flank and tail attack the enemy on the south bank of the Qingjiang River.  There is no need to be limited to the combat situation. We must work hard to respond to the attack of the 79th Army.  Fifth, the Jiang Defense Army was ordered to ensure the lines of Muqiao River, Caojiafan, and Pingshan Dam, and the 11th Division was designated to defend Shipai.  Sixth, the 26th Group Army in Jiangbei was ordered to attack Longquanpu, Shuanglian Temple and the enemies to the south, try to capture Yichang, and quickly control one part in Nantuo.  Seventh, the 33rd Group Army should still actively attack Dangyang, and use a powerful force to break in through gaps, harass Yaqueling, Gubei, and Baiyang, and support the Jiang Defense Army in the battle.

After the meeting, everyone filed out and went to prepare separately.

Zhang Xian and Guo Wan stayed at the end. Chief of Staff Guo was a little uneasy. Zhang Xian knew what he was thinking, and immediately suggested: "Boss, sir, this place is about to become a battlefield. I suggest you go back, sir."  Kindness is appropriate.¡±

Chief Chen was stunned, frowned, and asked: "Zhang Xian, it was you who suggested setting up the headquarters on the front line. It has only been a few days, why do you want to go back to Enshi?"

Zhang Xian replied: "This time, that time. Boss, the battle had just begun at that time. In order to boost morale, my subordinates made this suggestion; but at this time, this place has become a dangerous place. Although the officer's departure will have an impact on the morale of the army  , but if there is an eventuality, then I am afraid that not only the morale of the army will be lost, but also the entire war situation and the sorrow of the whole people, and then the subordinates will not be able to escape. After weighing the balance, the subordinates still suggested that the boss turn around  Enshi Headquarters.¡±

Chief Chen smiled and said: "I really want to imitate Song Zhenzong, visit Chanzhou in person and defeat the Liao army."

Zhang Xian frowned and said leisurely: "Although there is an example of Song Zhenzong, the boss must not forget the Tumu Fort incident."

Chief Chen was stunned. Of course he knew about the Tumubao Incident. It was a matter of the Ming Dynasty. At that time, the northern Wala attacked Shacheng. Ming Yingzong, instigated by the eunuch Wang Zhen, went on a personal expedition, but was captured by the enemy.

Guo Wan nodded on the side and urged: "It is better to resign and return to Enshi, where you can still command the troops!"

Chief Chen thought for a long time and finally nodded.  (Remember the website address: www.hlnovel.com
