    Chapter 50 (revision)

Driving back to the city center, Song Ran didn't hear any more gunfire all the way.

We arrived at the field hospital at six or seven in the afternoon, and it was very busy in front of us.  A large group of Dongguo soldiers and civilians crowded into a civilian alley, with many foreign volunteers and Doctors Without Borders mixed in.

Li Zan parked his car in front of the hospital and asked the doctor passing by: "What's going on?"

    "attend a wedding."

    "Wedding?"

"There is a soldier who is a native of Aare and is getting married. I heard that it was a girl who proposed. He said that the wedding was held before going to the battlefield."

Song Ran glanced at the crowd and asked, "Anyone can participate?"

"Of course, when did this happen? That girl is getting married now to encourage her sweetheart. She also encourages everyone in the city."

Li Zan and Song Ran didn't speak, each had their own thoughts.

Li Zan parked the car and looked back at Song Ran, as if inviting: "Want to go see it?"

    Song Ran nodded.

Not to mention that this wedding was extraordinary and she couldn¡¯t miss it.  Besides, she wanted to stay with him for a little longer, even just for a little while.

The two of them followed the crowd into the alley and soon entered a ruins in the alley.

This was originally a temple, with a towering pavilion in the middle, which was a place for prayer and wedding ceremonies.  But the pavilion was blown up, leaving only the dome and sharp corners of the temple on top of the ruins.  Candles were erected on the broken railings all around, and wild flowers of various colors picked from the countryside covered the broken steps. If it was not enough, olive leaves were used to make up for it.

Outside the pavilion ruins is a circle of open space.  A large piece of military green felt was spread on the floor, serving as a blanket for guests to sit on.

There used to be a circle of corridors on the outer surface of the open space, but the corridors, walls, and nearby houses were all razed to the ground, and it became an infinitely open place.

The people coming from behind could still see the wedding from a distance even if they were standing on the ruins a few houses away.

No wedding candy, no cigarettes or alcohol.  Many soldiers and foreigners generously contributed scraps of food, such as biscuits, peanuts and bread, for the busy children to share.

Song Ran and Li Zan came early and found a place to sit on the felt on the inner floor.

Li Zan asked people around him why he didn¡¯t go to another temple to hold the wedding.  Locals say this is the place where the couple was baptized when they were born, and the commemoration is of great significance.

    Song Ran: "No wonder."

Li Zan glanced at the felt on the ground and said, "If it weren't for a war, there should be a beautiful Persian blanket underneath."

Song Ran added: "There should be wedding candies at the door."

While talking, both of them thought of the wedding they attended in the Liangcheng military camp last year.

Song Ran sighed a little: "But a wedding like this is quite good. Strangers come to bless them. Everyone waits and watches, so it won't be awkward."

"Yes." Li Zan said, "You don't like to be embarrassed."

He didn¡¯t know that he had said this once when he was drunk that night.  But Song Ran remembered it clearly. He said that when they get married in the future, all the idle people will go away so as not to embarrass her.

It would be great if there was no war in the world

Song Ran took a slight breath, blinked her eyes, and looked up at the horizon. The sun was about to set. The afterglow shrouded the ruins of the temple, shining brightly on the stained glass windows on the dome.

    "So beautiful." She murmured.

Li Zan looked over, staring at the gorgeous sunset in the stained glass.

    Night is coming.

How great it would be if you woke up three months later.

She asked: "What did you do when you were fighting terrorists? Is there a division of labor?"

    ¡°Most of the time it¡¯s a blasting mission.¡±

She thought for a moment: "Is it the kind in the movie? Bringing heavy explosives to lurk in the enemy's line of fire?"

    "almost."

Song Ran¡¯s heart hurt, and she stared at the piece of stained glass and asked, ¡°Have you ever encountered a very dangerous time?¡±

    Li Zan said: "It's okay."

    "Have you ever been injured?"

Li Zan remained silent for a while. No one had ever asked him this question.  But she asked twice today.

Song Ran turned to look at him.

He smiled lightly: "Didn't I tell you before? It hurt, but it's better."

    "Is it serious?"

"It's not serious. They're just minor injuries."

She didn¡¯t know whether to believe it or not, but she didn¡¯t ask anymore.

More people are coming around here.  Soldiers with guns also came to maintain stability.??You know, have we broken up?  "

She covered her face in pain, contradicting herself to the point of shame.  She was the one who proposed not to contact him again. How could she have the dignity to ask such a question?  Can¡¡

"I regret it." She suddenly said this, with tears in her eyes, "I didn't want to break up at the time, I thought you would" She choked, with a self-deprecating smile, "In the end, you really  of¡¡"

She chuckled, but was too ashamed to face it. She hugged her backpack and covered her eyes with her hands.

"Ran Ran," his heart throbbed, "I was"

"I know! I know there is something on your mind, but if I ask you and you won't tell me, what can I do?" She avoided her eyes and didn't dare to look at him. She couldn't bear such a confrontation.

She was afraid that she would cry, so she pressed her forehead hard and restrained herself. Finally she found some strength and tried her best to say, "Let's talk about anything after the battle."

At this point, how could he let her go?

"Ran Ran!" Li Zan took a step forward and pulled her hard, but accidentally pulled the backpack in her hand to the ground.  He was stunned and quickly grabbed her, tightening the strap of her camera to prevent it from falling to the ground, but the backpack fell and smashed out a bunch of objects.

He knelt down to help her pick it up.

    "I will do it myself!"

But it was too late, Li Zan picked up a bottle of antidepressants.

He looked at her.  In the dark night, his eyes were filled with surprise, confusion, and heartache, and all the bitter emotions were mixed together in his eyes.

She turned pale when he looked at her, and immediately clarified: "It has nothing to do with you. It's not because of separate illnesses."

This is adding insult to injury.

Li Zan¡¯s eyes were filled with pain, and he asked word by word: ¡°When you were with me why didn¡¯t you tell me?¡±

Song Ran felt her hands and feet were weak and shook her head: "At that time, I thought I was almost healed." She felt cold all over, snatched the medicine back from his hand, and stuffed everything into the bag, as if stuffing the most unspeakable thing for her.  On the other hand, Biansai murmured, "I'm getting better now, you don't have to"

"I'm sorry." He said suddenly with a dead expression.

Song Ran was startled suddenly and shook his head.

He lowered his head, and his fingers that were pressed against the concrete floor were turning white and trembling: "I shouldn't have gone abroad when you needed it most."

She just shook her head, her heart broken: "I don't want you to say sorry, you haven't sorry for me. You are a soldier, what choice do you have. Don't apologize, the last thing I want is this I am in a bad mood,  You shouldn't say no contact again." Her voice became lower and lower, almost breaking.  She zipped up her zipper, stood up and ran away again.

    He caught up: "Ran Ran"

"I said!" She opened his hand and said in an urgent and fierce tone, "Don't change anything because of my illness, not because of this!"

"It has nothing to do with this!" He interrupted, his eyes turning red, "I didn'tI never wanted to cut off contact with you. I just" He choked, his throat sore that it felt like it was about to tear.  crack.

On the street late at night, he suddenly hunched over, as if his spine was bent.  He covered his face with both hands, covering it hard.  Finally he straightened up again, raised his chin and panted, looking down at her, his eyelashes were wet.

"I said I'm sorry, not because of the bottle of medicine. It's because" He opened his mouth, his eyes were all red, "I'm sorry, I knew it was dangerous, but I still came; I knew you could guess that I lied to you, but I still came  Still lied; knowing that I might die, I still have to move forward. Ranran"

The person I feel most sorry for in this world is you.

Even though I know it will cause you pain, I still fall in love with you and want to be with you.

He trembled: "I am selfish, leaving you alone to bear all the consequences that may occur"

"No!" She interrupted suddenly, the sting in her heart uncontrollable, "What I said that day was not true. I know what you are thinking, I know it all! So I don't ask, I cooperate, I just  "

She frowned deeply at the corners of her mouth and covered her eyes, trying to hold back, but tears flowed from her palms: "I'm afraidif something happens, will you regret it?I will! I will regret it to death!" She said  Don't look away, wipe your tears with your hands in a panic, and restrain yourself, "You shouldn't say this at this time. Don't let me affect your emotions, don't think about anything, wait until the battle is over"

But at this moment, a harsh and mournful air raid siren suddenly sounded throughout the city.  The light of signal bombs flashed in the night sky.

    The war has begun.

Li Zan was stunned for a moment, and his expression suddenly changed.

Song Ran calmed down instantly, widened his eyes, and trembled: "A-Zan"

Li Zan suddenly pulled her tightly into his arms, held the back of her head firmly, and pressed his chin tightly against her face, as if he was about to say goodbye.

Tears welled up in her eyes, and she hurriedly hugged him tightly, but the touch on her arms was not yet clear. He had already loosened his embrace and grabbed her shoulders. His eyes were struggling and painful, and he quickly said: "Protect yourself. Don't go out to the front line. After the war,  I¡¯ll come find you. Okay?¡±

She nodded quickly with tears in her eyes: "Okay."

Li Zan pursed his lips, touched her face, his eyes were torn and broken, but in the end he could only leave her on the street, turned around and rushed into the night.  (Remember the website address: www.hlnovel.com)The head and jaw were pressed tightly against her face, as if they were about to part ways.
