    ?

He Tong decided to call the nurse duty room of Ward 5 on the 12th floor of the Inpatient Department of Ankang Hospital in the provincial capital to confirm that the situation was about to get off work in the morning. This was a helpless move after he was puzzled.  The reason why he did this was because he had thought over and over again that no one would play such an unreasonable joke with him. Someone must be sick and waiting for him to visit.  So, he found the telephone directory and found the ward number.

"Hello, hello, is Ward No. 5?" He Tong said softly in order to make the other party accept this presumptuous call, "Please call the patient in bed No. 6 to answer the phone."

It was a young nurse who answered the phone. Her voice was crisp and cold, and she said: "It would be a miracle if the patient in bed No. 6 could answer the phone. Our hospital's medical technology level is also leading the country."

"Is the patient seriously ill?" He Tong asked cautiously again.

"Hey, who do you belong to the patient?" The little nurse felt that this person was very talkative, so she said angrily.

He Tong didn't know who the patient was, so he didn't know who he was.  What am I sick of?  He Tong thought, if I found out, would I still need to call?

"I am" He Tong thought for a long time, but he couldn't figure out how to express his inner thoughts. He only thought about the purpose of making this call, so he said bluntly, "I want to know, bed No. 6  who is it?"

"Hey, what did you say? Are you sick? You don't know who the patient in bed No. 6 is, and what phone call did you make? You are really sick!" the little nurse said angrily.

"Sorry, listen to me, I am" He Tong said incoherently, "The patient is"

"I think you are a patient, but you have to call the psychiatric hospital." The little nurse yelled a few words, and then hung up the phone.

He Tong heard the voice of the little nurse hanging up the phone almost deafeningly. He put down the receiver with lingering fear, chest tightness and shortness of breath, and he couldn't recover for a long time.  Just when he was about to order himself to forget about this annoying text message, the phone rang the text message notification tone again.  He Tong couldn't wait to turn on the phone and press the read button.  Then, another short message appeared in front of his eyes:

The patient is critically ill, please come quickly, this may be your last time.

He Tong put down his phone, panicked again, helpless.  With a pale face, he looked sideways at the photo on the desk, in which Liu Xiaomei was smiling happily, completely unaware of sadness.  He Tong nodded at her and muttered something, as if he was going to discuss with her and listen to her opinion on this matter.

Now, Liu Xiaomei is pregnant with Liujia, He Tong watched her belly slowly bulging, the joy of becoming a father always rippling on his face, as if he could see this young life grow day by day  Big same.  He didn't know if the child was a boy or a girl. Liu Xiaomei suggested to go to the hospital for a B-ultrasound examination, but he flatly refused.  He thinks that doing so is disrespectful to children. Boys and girls are his own flesh and blood, and he likes them all.

No matter how bright Liu Xiaomei's smile in the photo was, he would not give advice to He Tong who was in trouble. He hesitated in the office, trying to think of a way, thinking about whether to go to the hospital immediately.

When the phone on He Tong's desk rang suddenly, the clock in the lobby on the first floor just struck twelve o'clock.

"Hi, hello, who are you looking for?" He Tong was startled, picked up the phone, and said in a trembling voice.

It was Liu Xiaomei who called. He Tong's flustered tone made her feel that something unpleasant happened to him, so she became worried.

"What's the matter? He Tong." Liu Xiaomei paused for a while, and then said puzzledly, "Why are you unhappy?"

"Oh, smiling." He Tong raised his hand to comfort his chest, gasping heavily, and said, "It's nothing, what's wrong with you?"

"He Tong, have you had breakfast? Are you going home for lunch?" Liu Xiaomei said with a honeyed voice.

He Tong thought, no matter what, he couldn't take this uneasy feeling home. He could only see Liu Xiaomei's smile now, and she was not allowed to have the slightest bit of unhappiness. The child in his womb must grow up in happiness.

"I'm not going home for dinner anymore, Xiaomei, I have a friend who is sick, and I want to see him in the hospital." At this time, He Tong believed the text message to be true, and said worriedly.

Liu Xiaomei is a warm-hearted person. In addition, she works in the hospital and wants He Tong to have face in front of her friends, so she hurriedly said: "Who is it? Is it very sick? Is it in our hospital? Do you need me to find a specialist?  ah?"

"Smiley, no need, youTake good care of yourself, besides, he is not in your hospital, but in Ankang Hospital.  "He Tong didn't want to worry Liu Xiaomei, so he quickly declined.

"Ankang Hospital? Many of my classmates are there, which ward? Let me make a call." Liu Xiaomei said enthusiastically.

He Tong couldn't help laughing, ever since they ended the cold war, their love has remained the same, as if they were alone.  What makes He Tong so grateful is that the current Liu Xiaomei always regards all He Tong's affairs as his own, and always hopes that she can help him solve his problems.

"Xiaomei, I really don't need it. I took your wish for my friend." He Tong insisted, "I'll go and have a look first, and if necessary, I'll call you, okay?"

"Okay then, call me if you need anything." Liu Xiaomei said reluctantly.

Putting down Liu Xiaomei's call, He Tong decided to go to the hospital immediately.  He thought, no matter whether the text message is true or not, and whether the friend is close or not, his trip is inevitable. Instead of worrying and wondering here, it is better to go and see what happened right away.  So, he had a simple meal in the restaurant on the first floor, and then drove to Ankang Hospital.

Ankang Hospital is located in the northernmost part of the urban area, not far from the Yellow River.  Since people were taking a lunch break at noon and there were few vehicles and pedestrians on the road, He Tong arrived in less than half an hour.

In the inpatient department compound, He Tongbo got off the car, looked up at the twelfth floor, and didn't go up immediately, but went to the flower shop at the door to buy a basket of flowers.  He thought, no matter who is sick, it is always impolite to visit empty-handed. However, he does not know whether the patient is male or female, old or young, so it is difficult to decide what gift to buy, only flowers are the most suitable  .

He Tong, carrying flowers, appeared in the hall on the twelfth floor. It was about one o'clock at this time. Ward No. 5 was at the east end of the building.  Editor-in-chief Zhao Zegang came out in a hurry from the corridor of the east building, holding a plastic lunch box in his hand.

He Tong originally wanted to bow his head and let it go. He didn't want people to know if the short message was true or not, and whether the patient was male or female.  However, what He Tong didn't expect was that Zhao Zegang also accidentally saw him, and when he walked to the elevator and looked back, the eyes of the two happened to meet.

"Hello, Editor-in-Chief Zhao." He Tong hurried over and said hello.

Zhao Zegang was obviously very tired, his eyes were a little red and swollen, and his face was disheveled. It seemed that he hadn't slept all night.

"Hello, Mr. He." Zhao Zegang reached out his hand first, shook He Tong firmly, and said, "I didn't expect to see you here."

He Tong lifted the flower basket in his hand and said, "A friend is sick, so I'll come and see him. Mr. Zhao, what's the matter, do you have a patient here?"

Zhao Zegang nodded weakly, but did not speak.

"Do you need help? Mr. Zhao, just let me know if you have any difficulties." He Tong was full of sympathy for Zhao Zegang's depressed mood, and said sincerely.

"No, thank you Mr. He." Zhao Zegang shook his head and said, "Go see the patient quickly. I'll go down and have some food, and I'll be back in a while."

Watching Zhao Zegang into the elevator, He Tong walked towards the fifth ward.  Since noon was the time for the patient to deliver meals and eat, He Tong went in openly without being stopped by the nurse.

The door of Ward No. 5 was wide open. When He Tong came to the door and was about to check if there was any patient he knew, he saw a familiar face. Then, he panicked like a thunderbolt, almost paralyzed  fell to the ground.

Lying on the hospital bed was He Tong's first love in college, Zhao Fengling.

When did Zhao Fengling get sick?  How sick are you?  How can she live here?  Who knew the news and notified him in the form of a short message?

He Tong supported the door frame with one hand, and firmly grasped the handle of the flowers with the other hand. He was silent for a moment, then slowly stepped back a few steps, and slumped on the connecting chair in the corridor.

That winter seven years ago, He Tong and Zhao Fengling broke up amicably, and since then, she has disappeared in the provincial capital.  However, in He Tong's heart, she has never disappeared. Although he is so determined to force himself to forget this woman named Zhao Fengling, any plot or detail in life that is similar to the past will make He Tong can't help feeling  Thinking of her, and the happy time they spent together, made him sad and full of melancholy.

He Tong and Zhao Fengling in the university were in love like glue, they were alive and well, and their complicated and solid love footprints were left on the beach of Haicheng.  However, they knew that they were still students, and apart from hugging and kissing, no one had any intention of breaking the last restricted area.

The turning point of things happened on the first night after their graduation. In the morning and noon, the students who had been with each other for four years bid farewell, wiped their noses and tears, and went home in the afternoon, running around.

He Tong and Zhao Fengling are exceptions, because they are lovers, the problem is more complicated.  He Tong applied to a large state-owned enterprise in the provincial capital to do propaganda work, but Zhao Fengling didn't want to go back to her small town and wanted to find a job in Haicheng or the provincial capital.  Her biggest target is the provincial capital, because He Tong has returned there, and she cannot be separated from him.  In the afternoon, He Tong accompanied her to find several units, but they all politely declined.  Therefore, Zhao Fengling was in a bad mood, and when she came out of the last unit, she cried aggrievedly.  (Remember the site URL: www.hlnovel.com)?
