In the 1970s, on the East China Sea, there was a small town in the south of the Yangtze River.  At first, there were only scattered fishermen, but gradually, the people in the surrounding villages moved here, which made the town dense and lively.

In the center of the town there is a large concrete road running east-west, which is the main road of the town.  Starting from Dongshan, the easternmost mountain, it goes all the way to the west, and finally meets the main road going to the next town.

A small river meanders through the entire town from south to north.

At the intersection of Xiaohe and the main road, there is an antique three-story building, which is a state-owned department store. There is a small square in front of the department store, and there is a statue of a sea lion with a ball on its head.  A bunch of kids are playing around there.

Going to the south of the main road, there are narrow bluestone roads on both sides of the small river at the junction, and there are low two-story wooden buildings on the side of the road. On the first floor of those buildings are various shops, goods  There are many varieties and dazzling arrays, and a small stone bridge will come out after a while, connecting the two banks of the small river.

The department store is not far north along the small river, and there is a famous local vegetable market. There are various handicraft workshops in the vegetable market, including those who make tofu and rice cakes.  Every Chinese New Year, families carry rice and line up to make rice cakes. Watching the white rice grains turn into hot rice cakes, with some brown sugar in the hot rice cakes, take a bite, it¡¯s delicious!

There are several shops selling cloth and clothes on both sides of the road east of the department store.  There are shops that buy cloth, some sell handmade mille-soled cloth shoes, some sell coarse cloth double-breasted tops, and some sell Chinese tunic suits

From time to time on the street, there are people who carry the burden and sell tofu flowers for five cents a bowl, and there are old women who sell rotten Sichuan bean sprouts in wooden barrels, small snails sold at the entrance of the primary school

From time to time by the small river, there are children washing clothes and bathing, and some touching snails.

Go two streets south of the main road, and there is a short, short road parallel to it, which is less than 2,000 meters long and is called Yong'an Street.  The road is only seven or eight meters wide, and the concrete floor has been paved on it. On both sides are the courtyards surrounded by two-story wooden buildings, one by one.

Arriving at the courtyard at the east end of Yong'an Street, there lived a family named Li.

The gate of the courtyard faces north, and the gate is large and strong.  There is a large yard inside, and several wooden houses are built facing east.  The yard is usually cleaned.

There are more than 70 old Li and Mrs. Li living in the yard. They have three sons and one daughter.

The eldest son, Li Chengzhi, and his wife, Mao, have four daughters and one son. The eldest daughter, Li Dajuan, is 16 years old and works in a nearby town to sell clothes. The youngest, the only son, Li Xiaoli, is 6 years old.

The second son, Li Chengyuan, studied well and got into the best university in S City. He married his college classmate Zhang Guihua, and now both of them are staying in school as teachers.

The third son, Li Chengting, is also doing well in school. After graduating from university, he came back to work as a teacher in the town's junior high school.  I just got married last year, and my daughter-in-law, Fang Xiaolian, works in a cooperative in the town.  Now that Fang Xiaolian is seven or eight months pregnant, he is waiting to be a father.

Mrs. Li's real name is Sister Zhu. Her father taught her to read and write since she was a child. Therefore, the old lady is very sensible.  She is industrious and loves to be clean. She does laundry, cooking and mopping the floor every day, and the whole family eats together.  The children in the old lady's family are well-educated and have a good relationship with the neighbors. None of the neighbors in the surrounding area do not admire her.

The eldest daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mao, is not bad either, and they all help her with the work.  The little daughter-in-law reacted a lot because she was pregnant with twins, so the old lady asked her to rest.

In the middle of the night at the end of March, the weather in the town was still a bit cold.  The moon hangs high in the sky.  Even after the fifteenth day of the lunar calendar, things on the ground can still be seen relatively clearly under the moonlight.

Suddenly, a man's panicked voice sounded in the yard: "Mom, my wife has a stomachache, is she about to give birth?"

Li Chengting opened the door and came out, hurriedly ran to call his mother.

Mrs. Zhu, the old lady Li, was sleeping soundly, and immediately got up when she heard the sound: "Maybe yes. She is pregnant with two and is likely to be born prematurely." While getting dressed, she explained: "Hurry up and call your brother's house for help, and send someone to invite your wife  The natal family is here. Her family has a lot of labor, and you can't do it alone."

"Okay." Li Chengting thought of his wife's pain, and he was usually calm and capable, and almost panicked.

At this time, someone asked outside: "Mother, is the sister-in-law about to give birth?"

Li Chengting's eldest brother and sister-in-law also heard the sound.

The old lady directly ordered: "Daughter-in-law, ask your family Dajuan to hurry up and notify your sister-in-law's natal family to come over, and let the in-laws take care of you."The trolley is also pushed over.  "

Li Chengzhi hurriedly said: "Mom, let me go, I'll hurry up." Said and ran out immediately.

The old lady said to the eldest daughter-in-law Mao Shi: "Go and prepare some Korean ginseng in brown sugar water. Take it to the hospital later."

"Hmm." The eldest daughter-in-law nodded and went.

"San'er, go and prepare some quilts and clothes for your wife to change, and take care of your wife when you're done. I'll prepare the children's clothes and bags." Sister Zhu hurried to work after giving orders.

Fang Xiaolian was in unbearable pain, and tried not to cry out loudly, her whole body was drenched in sweat.  Seeing his daughter-in-law like this, Li Chengting wished he could help her.

Everyone hurriedly prepared everything, opened the gate and waited. Fang Xiaolian also carried her out and sat on a chair.  After a while, I saw three people rushing in from the street, pulling a cart.

When the old lady saw it, her hanging heart finally fell down: "My father-in-law, my mother-in-law, brother-in-law, it's good if you come here."

Li Chengzhi hurriedly put the quilt on the cart with his wife, and Li Chengting and his brother-in-law helped Fang Xiaolian onto the cart to lie down.

Mrs. Li followed behind and arranged to put all the prepared clothes and quilts into the car: "Dear family, I have to work hard for you, my little feet can't walk fast. His uncle runs fast, so you'd better go to the health center to contact the doctor, for fear of night  No one, you guys quickly pulled the car and followed."

Seeing so many people passing by, Mrs. Mao felt that there was no need to follow them by himself, so he put the brown sugar water and Korean water on the corner of the cart and set them up, told his uncle, and returned home.

Fang Xiaolian's father was anxious, so he stopped talking to his mother-in-law, picked up the cart and ran away.

Chengting followed the car while comforting his wife: "Xiao Lian, hold on, I'm going to the hospital soon."

Fang Xiaolian just felt that she couldn't breathe: "A Ting, will I die?"

"What nonsense are you talking about? It's like this when giving birth." Xiao Lian's mother, who was walking fast on the other side of the cart, stopped her immediately and wiped her tears secretly.

Ten minutes away, Fang Xiaolian felt like a century.  It hurts so much, why hasn't it arrived yet?

Fang's father pulled the cart and ran all the way.

There is no hospital in the town, only a health center.  The so-called health center consists of three bungalows, one is where doctors see patients, one has two beds as a ward, and the other is half used for injections and half used as an operating room.

The road to the health center is all small roads, and there are several turns. There are no street lights on the road, and everyone has no flashlights to use. They can only rely on the moon in the sky to illuminate them.

Fang's father just wanted to send his daughter to the hospital as soon as possible, but he didn't even know that his feet were bleeding from the sharp stones on the road.  (Remember the site URL: www.hlnovel.com
