    ?

Standing by the door made of split tree trunks, the street lamp looked at Fang Xiaoyuan worriedly, "Can you really do it by yourself?"

"No problem." Fang Xiaoyuan patted his chest and assured, "I have remembered what you just said, as long as you keep walking up the steps, you will reach the lighthouse. When I find my friend, I will definitely take him to a safe place  go."

"Well," the street lamp shook the lampshade above his head vigorously, "If you are in danger, you should shout for help. There is a respectable old man living in the lighthouse. If he hears it, he will definitely help you."

    "I remember."

Saying goodbye to the street lights, Fang Xiaoyuan turned around and went up the stairs. Before she could take a few steps, she suddenly heard a slow and long "creaking" sound from behind her. She turned her head and found that the big tree that had been split earlier had closed up again at some point, recovering.  The original appearance.  Now she has no way out, but can only continue to move forward.

The stone steps are not wide, just enough for two Fang Xiaoyuan to walk side by side hand in hand.  On both sides are old trees with luxuriant branches and leaves, but standing on the stone steps, you can only see dark green leaves that are almost three or four times the size of her face, but you cannot see the trunk hidden under these layers of leaves  and roots in deep soil.  Fang Xiaoyuan guessed that these trees must be quite old.

In order to reach the lighthouse before the sun rose, she walked faster and faster until she was running.  The white stone steps and the huge dark green leaves are constantly interlaced in front of the eyes, forming a slide show that is played repeatedly.  Fang Xiaoyuan listened hard, but couldn't hear the wind blowing past her ears, which could prove her running speed.

Strange There is no wind here, Fang Xiaoyuan thought.  The sweat beads hanging on his forehead from running just lay there quietly, waiting for the cool wind to blow them away.  The strength under her feet gradually disappeared, and Fang Xiaoyuan's speed also slowed down.  Finally, she stopped, put her hands on her knees, bent over and panted heavily.  "Huh! Huh! I'm exhausted."

    "Hoo! Hoo!" "Hoo"

Unknowingly, she felt that her panting sound seemed to be mixed with other sounds, overlapping with her original breathing sound, forming a duet.  At first she thought she had heard it wrong, so she held her breath, but the voice was still there.  "Huhhuh" Different from Fang Xiaoyuan's panting sound, this panting sound was lower in volume but lasted a little longer, as if it had been deliberately suppressed.

"Who?" Fang Xiaoyuan looked around and asked vigilantly, "Who is there?!"

As soon as the voice fell, the panting stopped suddenly, and the surrounding fell into a long silence.  Fang Xiaoyuan turned her head and looked behind her, wanting to see if the street lamp was following her quietly, but to her disappointment, there was nothing there.  She pushed aside the leaves blocking her eyes and looked towards the side of the stone steps, only to find that there were still leaves behind the leaves.

"Tell you, I've actually spotted you, you'd better show up obediently." She tried to keep her tone calm, but her round eyes kept rolling, trying to see some clues from the still environment  .

Quiet, still quiet.  Seeing that this trick didn't work, Fang Xiaoyuan had no choice but to surrender.  "It's fine if you don't dare to show up, anyway, I still have things to do now, and I don't have time to play with you." He said and planned to continue running.  After resting for a while, she felt that her strength had returned.  Just as I took a step, I suddenly heard a voice saying, "Can you slow down? I I can't keep up"

Fang Xiaoyuan stabilized her feet again, and carefully discerned the direction of the voice.

"You are running too fast, and the order of the steps is wrong. If you continue like this, you will never reach your destination."

Hearing the word "step", Fang Xiaoyuan immediately looked down at the stone steps under his feet.  She first rubbed her feet against the snow-white stone steps, then squatted down, and stretched out her hand to gently stroke it.  The cool touch is no different from the marble countertop at home, just not as smooth.  "It's amazing, so in the world of fairies, stones can also talk."

"Hi, I'm here." This time the voice came not from the foot, but from the side of the stone steps.  Fang Xiaoyuan turned her head to look, and saw a round head protruding from the side of the stone steps, staring at her fiercely, she was so frightened that she almost fell to the ground, but fortunately she supported it with her hands in time, so that no catastrophe occurred.  If she really fell down and rolled all the way down the stone steps, all her strength just now would be in vain.

"You who are you?" Fang Xiaoyuan asked stammeringly.

The round head sighed, and simply supported the stone steps and climbed up.  Only then did Fang Xiaoyuan see the true face of this guy.  Its whole body is dark brown, its skin is rough and mottled like tree bark, it looks weird, its body is long and its legs are short, its two arms hang down on its sides like branches, longer than its entire body.

"I'm the steward of the stone steps." The guy introduced himself, "To guide the goblins entering the forest passage."

Fang Xiaoyuan opened her eyes wideStaring at it, it took a while to understand the meaning of this sentence.  She looked down at the stone steps under her feet, then raised her head to look at the so-called administrator of the stone steps, and said hesitantly, "You mean, are you the goblin in charge of managing these stone steps?"

"Of course." The steward of the stone steps responded, "It seems that this is the first time you have taken the forest passage, so you will make such a low-level mistake."

"Low-level mistake?" Fang Xiaoyuan found that he couldn't understand the goblin's words again, "What is that?"

"That's it." The steward of the stone steps made a running posture, "The passages in the forest belong to the void space, and are not limited by the external space and distance. As long as you find the right way, no matter where you go, the distance will be the same.  It saves time. But you ran too fast just now, and you passed before I could find the next step, so I had to use the nearest stone step to go up, and the order was completely wrong. Go on like this,  You'll never get where you want to go."

Fang Xiaoyuan never expected that the fastest way he thought was the slowest way, this is the so-called haste makes waste.  She narrowed her eyes in embarrassment and apologized to the administrator, "Sorry, I didn't know before so what should I do now?"

"Sit down for a while, and leave after I arrange the order." The administrator of the stone steps said.

Fang Xiaoyuan had no choice but to temporarily sit down on the stone steps according to its instructions. When she saw it climbed down the steps again, she also stretched her head to look down the stone steps.  It didn't matter if she looked at it, she immediately found that these stone steps were completely suspended, and there was nothing underneath, only a vast expanse of whiteness, whether it was clouds or fog.  The trunks of the ancient trees on both sides stretched all the way to the bottom of the clouds, with no end in sight.  Fang Xiaoyuan hurriedly retracted half of her body hanging from the edge of the stone steps, for fear that she would accidentally fall down.

After a few minutes, the administrator's voice came from under the stone steps, "All lined up, let's go."

Fang Xiaoyuan was surprised, she thought it was an extremely complicated task, but she didn't expect it to be completed so quickly.  She hurriedly stood up and walked up step by step, this time she didn't run again.  After about twenty steps, all the steps in front of him suddenly disappeared, replaced by a huge tree trunk that was almost the same as the entrance.

"The lighthouse is here." The steward of the stone steps poked out Yuanyuan's head from under the stairs again, stretched out his long arms to bid farewell to Fang Xiaoyuan, "I wish you a pleasant journey~" When he turned back, the door made of tree trunks had already opened in response.  (Remember the site URL: www.hlnovel.com
