    ?

Shou Sui, also known as Shou Sui Huo and Zhao Sui, is customarily called "boiling the year".

    It is recorded in "Feng Tu Ji" written by Zhou Chu in the Jin Dynasty: "The custom of Shu is to ask questions at the end of the year, which is called feeding the year; inviting wine and food is another year; staying awake until New Year's Eve is called keeping the year old."  It means: on New Year¡¯s Eve, everyone gives gifts to each other, which is called "feeding the year";

Since the Han Dynasty, the time when the old and new years alternate is generally in the middle of the night.  On New Year's Eve, no matter who you are, you will get together to watch the new year with your family, have a happy gathering and drink, and share the happiness of the family.

On this night, after people eat the reunion dinner, the stove must be cleaned to prepare for the morning of the first day of the first lunar month or to be vegetarian throughout the day.  After doing this, people began to watch the year.

The main manifestation of keeping the year old is that all the houses light lanterns or candles, and the family gathers together; and keep the fire light from going out, which symbolizes driving away all evil plagues and diseases, and looks forward to good luck in the new year.

On New Year's Eve, the lights stay on all night, so it is called "burning lamps to illuminate the year" or "lighting the year".  Consumption", it is said that after taking such photos, the wealth of the family will be enriched in the coming year.

In ancient times, there are two meanings of keeping the year old: the elders keep the old age, which means to cherish the time; the young people keep the year old, to prolong the life of their parents.

In the north of our country, keeping up with the new year starts with eating the New Year's Eve dinner, and this New Year's Eve dinner should be eaten slowly, and the seats should be taken from the time when the lights are lit, and some people have to eat until late at night.  On this night of "one night for two years, five watches for two years", the family reunites and gathers together.

Northerners also have the custom of "stepping on the year", which is to stick sesame stalks in the shape of ingots rolled in yellow paper, and gather them into bundles, which are called "cornucopias".  Then, the whole family crushes it with their feet, and uses "broken" to harmonize with "year", and borrows the auspicious meaning of sesame blossoms, wishing the prosperity of the family and expressing blessings and prayers for the new year.

There are many talented people in the south, and New Year's Eve is the time for "entertainment".  When watching the new year, the family eats New Year's Eve dinner, sings poems and songs, and talks and laughs freely.  There are also ordinary households who push Pai Gow, roll dice, bet on stud, play mahjong, etc.

After the first rooster crows, the new year begins. Men, women and children, all dressed in festive attire, first wish the elders in the family a new year and birthday, and then visit relatives and friends to congratulate and bless each other.

At this time, the land of China is shining everywhere. From the first day to the fifteenth day of the new year, people have been immersed in a joyful, peaceful and civilized festival atmosphere.

[1] "Shou Sui" Poetry by Su Shi

If you want to know that you are dying, it is like a snake going to the valley.

The repaired scales are half gone, who can cover them up.

Kuang wants to tie the tail, although he is diligent and knows what to do.

Children are forced to stay awake, and watch each other at night for joy.

Don't sing the chicken in the morning, and even drum and fear Tim Lao.

Sitting for a long time, the lamp embers and fades, and the Big Dipper tilts when you look up.

There is no year next year, and I am afraid that my worries will be wasted.

? Try your best tonight, young people can still boast.

The young people's keeping the year was full of laughter and chatter, so Xiao Liuyi had to struggle hard not to sleep.

Seeing Liu Yi's sleepy eyes, Liu Hao said, "Ruyan, take Liu Yi to sleep!"

Liu Yi pretended to be awake and hurriedly said: "I don't sleep, I don't sleep, I also want to watch the year."

Liu Ji got up and came to Liu Ruyan's side, reached out and touched Xiao Liuyi who was lying in her arms, and said, "We have to make a show to raise Liu Yi's spirit."

Liu Haohao said: "Then let's write poetry."

Liu Ji asked: "Can Liu Yi compose poetry?"

Liu Hao smiled and said: "If you don't know how to write poetry, you can also recite a Tang poem about the Spring Festival."

Every year on this evening Fei groans,

Children snicker frequently in front of the lamp.

How do you know that I regret myself,

? To be a poet in vain.

As soon as I heard that I was going to write poetry again, Liu Ruyan's poems were not very good in the first place, and this year there was an outsider present, so I said in embarrassment: "Are you going to write poetry again!?"

"Why, you're not interested?" Liu asked her carefully.

"Can I recite a famous poem like Liu Yi?" Liu Ruyan asked shyly.

Liu Haohao gave a blank glance like smoke: "Are you a child!?"

    Everyone laughed.

"How can Ruyan know how to write poetry~"

"So you have to study hard."

"Then what's the use~" Ru Yan muttered.

Everyone laughed again at the bickering between the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law.Watching the old man and the old woman shout even more vigorously.

The old people also responded with a smile: 'Children, quickly bring out the dementia you want to sell, and I will buy it!  '

When the children saw a 'buyer', they rushed over one after another.

¡®Where is the dementia?  ¡¯ The old man teased the children.

One after another the little heads arched over: 'Here it is'

So the old man and the old woman laughed and rubbed the tops of the children¡¯s heads, and then scratched the tip of their noses, ¡®Okay, I¡¯ve bought the dementia, and I¡¯ll give you the money.  ¡¯ While talking, he really gave each child a few copper coins"

Liu Ji said to everyone: "This is our New Year's Eve custom in the south of the Yangtze River. It is also a game that children are most keen on, and an important activity to get rid of the old and welcome the new. It's just that what it wants to get rid of is the children's old stupidity.  The future is bright and bright. Why do old people buy dementia? Simply put, it is 'a loss is a blessing'. If God predestined that there must be some people in this world who are demented and stupid, then I will come! Just like what I wrote in my poem just now  "My hair is turning white and my face is turning ugly". I would like to take all the dementia back to me and make the children smart Hey, Liu Kai, you just tell everyone a story, not  Poetry?"

"Zuo, my poem is related to this 'selling dementia'," Liu Kai then said his poem:

"On New Year's Eve, people are forbidden to open at night,

    Children come in groups with lanterns;

Walking through the streets and alleys calling for cheap prices,

Earn money from Mrs. Weng to buy dementia.  "(Remember this site URL: www.hlnovel.com
