Text Chapter 295 Using Bastard once

"The trailer is great! Can't wait to watch it in theaters on November 11th.", "Meryl Streep looks like a badass, which is really exciting."

"Does anyone know what happened? What did Breslin do on stage?" Sartonson asked. Many fans commented on the post and speculated: "She must have been knocked over.", "Could it be with someone else?"  Girls fight?", "Did she do something strange?"

dool26 liked and said: "I still can't believe that Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts are in the same movie, but they seem to be awesome and it feels very special." Randall01 said: "Their family is in it.  In the hospital scene, who's in trouble?" Kzaatar said, "I guess it's the old man, I can't see him."

"Stanley Tucci is hilarious! His laugh is so classic, but it's a pity that he is just a guest star and won't have many roles.", "There are so many actors I like! A must-see!"

¡°I¡¯m curious, does VIY have a cameo in the film? I want to see him!¡±¡

On Ye Wei¡¯s blog, comment boards on YouTube, Loveviy and other websites, comments full of expectations emerged one after another. Except for the obvious voices of various sunspots, few positive viewers said they were disappointed with the trailer.

Most of the media commented that this is a high-quality trailer: "a lot of conflict and suspense", "visible comedy, exciting scenes one after another", "six distinctive characters successfully appeared", "  Sparkling trailer with a strong cast¡±¡

There were also a lot of doubts. The powerful cast was said to be full of stars. "It seems that every face is a celebrity, which is really terrible." The wonderful trailer was said to be a trailer movie, and all the climaxes were  Put it into these 2.5 minutes, "Can there be anything else?", which is full of selling points and is said to be a "well-packaged Hollywood story" that lacks literature and art.

Overall, the LMS official trailer has been widely praised, and it is undoubtedly the most anticipated live-action film of DreamWorks this year, and one of the most anticipated films at the end of this year. Superstar Prodigy, literary business, it has no  The reason is not hotly debated.

As the publicity unfolded, VIY, which had been dormant for a long time, began to revive, and Armada became stronger. People seemed to be suddenly surprised to think of this behemoth called an independent literary film.

    Incredible!

Everything in LMS is moving in a good direction. Everyone at DreamWorks is finally relieved. The distribution department is the most excited, counting on it to make a turnaround.

They have reason to be excited. In addition to the rave reviews for the trailer, private market research data also shows that the audience is very interested in LMS, and the most important family audience is no exception. The sales figures are huge!  "Full of fun", "healthy for the mind", and "suitable for the whole family" are all the main reasons, and familiar good-image superstars like Hanks give people confidence.

But this is the aspect of families with young children. Children and families have expressed some concerns. The film seems to involve content such as homosexuality that is not suitable for children to watch. This requires film critics to help them make decisions, and of course ratings.

As long as LMS obtains the PG-13 rating, those watching will feel more at ease, and the probability of watching the movie will be greatly increased.

LMS is different from the low-budget and ultra-low-budget films like "The Exorcism Video". Its $6 million production fee is actually a fake cost - Hanks and Roberts co-starring alone are worth $50 million.  So it doesn¡¯t have to resort to tricks and do things step by step according to the release rhythm. As long as the film is good enough and lucky enough (don¡¯t catch up with Hurricane Katrina and the like), success is eight and failure is two.

But all investors in the project not only want success, but also want a business miracle!  The PG-13 rating is so critical.

It has been a few days since LMS submitted ratings. In the midst of anxious waiting, on September 28, the MPAA announced the rating results of another batch of films. Among them, the much-anticipated LMS was ratedR-rated.

    R-rated!  ?

Audiences under 17 years old need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian to watch.

It was also labeled: This movie is not suitable for children or even teenagers!  Not suitable for the whole family to laugh and laugh together.

How much impact will this have on the box office?  It¡¯s so big that it¡¯s immeasurable!  Think about what would happen if "Forrest Gump" was rated R

For a time, the media was in an uproar. LMS had already stated its pursuit of PG-13, and now it was going to be lively.

This news was reported in the movie news section of various websites as quickly as possible. It was reported on Chinese websites such as Sina and Sohu. Fans who knew about the movie around the world were also stunned. After watching the trailer, it didn¡¯t look like an R-rated movie.  ?  What's going on?

It¡¯s really weird that a 17-year-old and 7-month-old boy made an R-rated movie, and he started producing it when he was 15 years and 9 months old.

If anyone goes to the MPAA official website or other websites such as IMIf you check professional websites such as Db, you can find the detailed rating report of LMS, which even contains spoilers:

    ??¡¾Sex-and-Nudity (Sex and Nudity):

    5/10, some moderate sexual discussion

    Violence-and-Gore:

? 1/10, a man died of a drug overdose (happened out of sight of the audience)

    Profanity:

    ? 6/10, with 27 F-bombs, one b-tch, one b-stard, about 5 sh-t, a few religious exclamations

    Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking:

On 4/10, a character died of a heroin overdose.  Occasional drug use, and three exhibition smoking

    Frightening/Intense-Scenes:

? 3/10, a death occurred, and the body was hidden in the back of a bus.  There is no obvious image display, and it is a funny scene.

    Overall evaluation: 19/50

A very light R-rated movie, the language is the only aspect that prevents it from being rated PG-13]

The-language (language) includes "some moderate sexual discussions" and swear words. This rating report surprised DreamWorks Publishing, because the biggest concern before was in the "alcohol/drugs/smoking" category.  The secondary concern was "sex and nudity", but the main concern was whether Oliver's striptease was suspected of child pornography.

Unexpectedly, the problem now is caused by words.  Seriously?  Just that little bit of an F-bomb that wouldn't be considered vulgar in the context of the story?

If there is a problem with the drug-taking scenes, the relevant scenes can be deleted, and the language can be solved by modifying the lines and re-dubbing, but there is another layer of trouble, involving the impact of the story atmosphere, character creation, film style, etc.

Even office administrators know that grandpa is not attractive if he doesn't use profanity, and how important it is for DeWine to finally speak FUCK after his dream is shattered. Those F-bombs bombard the hearts of the audience. In ordinary words,  It doesn't have that kind of power, and the literary and artistic style is gone. It can't be deleted at all.

But for the PG-13 rating and the box office, nothing can't be changed.

While DreamWorks is responding urgently, there are of course many people inside and outside the industry who are secretly enjoying this, those who look down on LMS, those who are jealous, those who have hatred, and those who have conflicts of interest

And several companies such as Sony, Focus, and Miramax that compete with LMS at the same time can also laugh.

    ¡¡

Terry Price¡¯s head started to hurt again just after 1 o¡¯clock. Why did it get a damn R rating?

The MPAA is not the only one that has the final say. There is also fierce competition among the six major organizations. The rating committee also has members from multiple organizations and a bunch of company members. No one has the absolute power to break the rules at will. Each film has a detailed  Once the rating report goes too far, it will be appealed and pushed into public opinion.

Therefore, under this subtle check and balance, if the six major issuers are not required to have everything, non-six major issuers will have nothing. That kind of rating has no credibility.

The problem often lies in the fact that the total score of a film is on the edge of two levels. It may be this or that, and unsatisfactory situations will occur from time to time.  Whether it is the Big Six or independent film producers, they will suffer this kind of pain, it just depends on how much.

It also depends on the outcome of the appeal. Sometimes independent companies really have no way to complain, such as the sensational "Exorcism Video" incident before this year when its rating was revised.

??Actually speaking, DreamWorks is different from Lionsgate. The three giants of SKG have wide connections and strong reputations. The company also has a good cooperative relationship with Universal and Paramount. This has started since Spielberg was young.  DreamWorks rarely has ratings troubles. No one can tell what happened to LMS this time.

Maybe it was due to a secret war, or maybe it was a temporary decision of the committee members who reviewed the LMS.

It was Price¡¯s job to get the PG-13 rating. After he learned the news, he immediately called the MPAA to learn about the situation and had some exchanges. In the end, he had to go through the normal channels to appeal.

????????????????????????????????????Some videos will get re-ratings, and some won't.

Price knows why. Just like changing the jury's decision, apart from private lobbying, the most critical thing is the pressure of public opinion.  Therefore, complaints usually require someone to come forward and make the matter bigger, so that the MPAA just wants to calm it down quickly, which is more than half the success.

No one will pay attention to Price's appearance. Actors and stars generally won't get involved in this kind of thing, let alone superstars. The most suitable person to come forward this time is producer and director Ye Wei.

But do you really want to make a big deal out of it?  Or make some changes and rate again?  The latter is easier to get a PG-13 rating.

After asking the senior executives for their opinions, I also asked Ye Wei for his opinions. He was very angry and said only one sentence: "Of course we have to appeal, you son of a bitch MPAA."??¡±

Senior executives also agreed that in a situation where ¡°it¡¯s very light and words are the only obstacle¡±, all news is good news.  The worst case scenario is that all the bad language will be revised in the end, so that the MPAA, which has already said "only", will have to give it a PG-13 rating.  As long as it makes sense and gets public support, making trouble can be treated as propaganda.

"Leave it to me, they messed with the wrong person."

Ye Wei took over this task. TET was modified to be R-rated. He was not so angry because it did have some scary scenes. It made sense to prevent scaring children. LMS rated it R-rated?  There are many, many movies that should be rated NC-17!

Let¡¯s just say that the recently released "Aerial Crisis" has a total score of 19.5 points and is rated PG-13; the LMS score is 19 points, but it is rated R!  ?  What¡¯s the point!

Because "In the Sky" is a film released by Buena Vista (Disney), it sounds relatively harmless?

He wants to appeal, not to cause trouble and publicity, but to seek justice and tell the world with confidence and a clear conscience that this is wrong with him!

    ¡ù¡ù

The news that LMS has been rated R has not yet spread completely. On the afternoon of September 29, the next day, there was new progress in this matter, causing online media to follow and report:

¡°VIY is dissatisfied with the MPAA¡¯s R rating of ¡°Little Miss Sunshine¡± and formally files a complaint¡± ¨C Yahoo Movies, ¡°VIY files a complaint with the MPAA over the R rating of ¡°Little Miss Sunshine¡±¡± ¨C Hollywood Online, ¡°Suffering injustice  Rating treatment? Movie prodigy VIY blasts MPAA" - Variety show

This time, more fans knew about it, not only from media reports, but also from Ye Wei¡¯s blog, which is also one of the news sources for the media.

He issued a public statement on the complaint. He didn¡¯t say much, but said simply and calmly:

"I don't think this is a reasonable rating action. My movie is a 100% PG-13 family movie. The overall score of 19 is lower than some movies that have been rated PG-13 according to the MPAA rating standards.  , it can't be R-rated. I've filed a complaint and hope for a fair outcome."

The comments on this blog are pages of support from movie fans, and some allies have publicly expressed their support. Gia Coppola told the media: "I guarantee with my head that the PG-13 rating is what LMS should get."  's rating.

Prominent project producer Gary Goetzman also said he was puzzled as to why the film could not be rated PG-13, even though everything in the film met the standards.  DreamWorks also spoke out. Terry Price, director of the distribution department, complained to the media: "This has caused great harm to our distribution. We cannot accept it without a reasonable explanation."

Amid the hubbub, on October 3, MPAA spokesman Howard Gantman announced the results of LMS¡¯s appeal to the outside world, upholding the original verdict, rated R!

He also explained the incident: "The committee conducted careful and repeated research and ruled that there is no problem with the R rating, but the problem is the language of "Little Miss Sunshine." The MPAA has always acted fairly, and no film will receive special treatment.  The reason "Little Miss Sunshine" is rated R is the same as all movies rated R. It is an R-rated movie. We understand the mood of the film studios when they do not get the ideal rating, which makes them have to accept or modify it, but this is.  That¡¯s what ratings are about.¡±

Depressed!  !  !  This is the mood of VIY fans. Whether they are ordinary fans like Kelsey Zhou or celebrity fans like Jason Hamilton, they are all very depressed and angry about this. They are looking forward to Ye Wei's counterattack, and  I'm a little confused. According to the rating regulations, where is the truth?

No one knows how Ye Wei is feeling now. Will he compromise?  Accept the appeal result and modify it?

Without waiting for the media to speculate, Ye Wei responded on the night of the 3rd!  anger!  !  !

His public statement was once again published on his blog, but this time it was different. Everyone outside was surprised to see that it was completely different from the previous mild words!  VIY is like an enraged lion, to be precisethe humorous, venomous, talented, knowledgeable and exciting VIY appears.

    ¡°PG-13-for-some-violence, mild-language-and-intense-thematic-material.¡±

(Rated PG-13 for some violence, mild language, and strong thematic material.)

This is the summary in the MPAA rating report of "In the Sky" which was just released on September 23. It received an overall score of 19.5/50 and a PG-13 rating.

    ¡°A-very-low-rated-R-film, the-language-is-the-only-thing-stopping-the-PG-13-rating.¡±

(A very lightly R-rated film, with language being the only aspect that prevents it from being rated PG-13.)

This is the summary of the MPAA rating report for my movie "Little Miss Sunshine". It received an overall score of 19/50 and an R rating.

Folks, I'm really confused. Can anyone tell me what the MPAA's rating standards are?  The overall score is 19. 5 can be rated PG-13, but the total score of 19 is R-rated?  What does this total score mean?  Have we misunderstood something? The higher the total score, the safer we are?  God, then we got one thing wrong:

    Crash, 1996, 39/50, NC-17

    Crash, 2004, 29/50, R

"Crash" with a score of 29 should be rated NC-17, and "Crash" with a score of 39 should be rated R!  No they really collided together, so thoroughly that we didn't distinguish them clearly, and almost forgot that the higher the total score, the safer it is (then I don't understand why they all crashed), Crash should be rated G, and Crash  It should be rated PG

Please!  I'm so confused by myself. Folks, not every Asian is a math genius.

I can¡¯t figure it out. 19.5 points is OK, but 19 points is not OK. Why?

Words?  In terms of profanity, "Aerial" is 4/10, note that there are 4 times of dirty humor and 5 times of mild obscenity.  "Little Miss Sunshine" is 6/10, 27 times the F-word that most directly expresses real-world emotions.  Do you think it¡¯s the emotional F-word that¡¯s bad, or the deliberate obscenity that¡¯s bad?

Violence?  In terms of violence and gore, "Air Crisis" is 6.5/10. According to the rating report, those women, men, adults, and children were all fighting and scolding each other. I couldn't even count how many people were beating up.  There were also many people with broken heads and bloodshed.  "Little Miss Sunshine" is 1/10. It basically killed a bee and didn't even include it in the report.

We finally know why violent crime is rampant in this country. We don¡¯t encourage talking, but we encourage doing.

Is this also true legally?  I asked my lawyer, no.  If we say a bad word, we don't need to go to jail; if we kill someone, we have to go to the electric chair.

The MPAA seems to have its own set of laws, and can change it, trample on it, and make it a joke at any time.

??????????????????????????????????????? If you gave "The Air" a PG-13 rating, is there any valid reason to give "Little Miss Sunshine" an R rating?

You haven¡¯t, and then you still say, this is the standard?  This is a shame!

I never wanted things to turn out like this. I hoped it was just a small math error. After all, this stuff is so difficult. Maybe it was just some guy who confused himself like I did.  I wish I could keep the phrase "Bastard" in the film instead of deleting it and turning it into a nickname for some idiot.

? ? Folks, I¡¯m excited and I¡¯m sorry.  But you say, is this fair?

I will not give up the appeal. The second appeal has been submitted. I hope there will be a good result.

    P.  S.  I sincerely apologize for involving "Air Crisis" in this matter!  I think your PG-13 rating is justified because "In the Air" doesn't teach people what to do, just as "Little Miss Sunshine" doesn't teach people what to say.

Finally, I want to say, Jodie Foster, I am your big fan, I love your blue eyes and your talent!

Attached are detailed rating reports for the two movies:

    ¡¡¡»

Now, it¡¯s really a bombardment!  Fans and fans were very excited, many people shouted excitedly, and the media were surprised, there is news!  Those gossip tabloids will not care about these things, but the mainstream media, professional movie magazines, etc. are extremely excited!

This matter is destined to explode. Before the MPAA can respond, VIY has a powerful ally - Yunik Culler!

The mysterious genius who has never appeared and disappeared from the Internet for a while, more than two hours after Ye Wei published his blog, at close to midnight on the 4th, he suddenly updated a blog post, the fifth one!  Cooler¡¯s fans are shocked!

??The consistent style, a classic line from the originator of road movies "Easy Rider", has an obvious meaning, and it immediately reminds people of the rating controversy between TET and LMS.

Ku Le and Ye Wei are really like two easy riders who travel around the world together on motorcycles, spurning hypocrisy and pursuing freedom!
