    18.Happiness

? 124. Those who do not indulge in indulgence and are not greedy for sensual enjoyment, but who are enthusiastic and often meditate on the truth, can obtain great happiness.

? ? 125. Only when you don¡¯t harbor the slightest hatred among people full of resentment can you live a happy life.

    126. There are two extremes that practitioners should not do.  What are these two extremes?  "Sensual pleasure" is low-grade, vulgar, tacky, and obscene, and can cause damage to the body and mind; "self-torture" is painful, despicable, and can also cause harm to the body and mind.  However, the 'middle way' discovered by the perfect saint avoids the above two extremes, and brings you keen insight and knowledge, guiding you towards peace, wisdom, enlightenment and eternal happiness.

    127. People who maintain good moral character in old age are happy, and so are people with strong faith.  A person who has gained wisdom is happy, and a person who does not do evil is also happy.

    19. Happiness

    128. Happiness lies in the realization of wishes, and in having only noble wishes.

? 132. A person's thoughts are extremely subtle and difficult to detect, but smart people are good at guarding the thoughts that are about to stir up. A guarded heart can lead to happiness.

    134. Giving generously, behaving appropriately, helping relatives, and acting without shame - this is the greatest happiness.

    135. Honor your parents, love your wife, and have a stable career.  It is great happiness.

    20. Wisdom

    136. The understanding of sacred and eternal things can be properly called 'wisdom', while the understanding of worldly things is nothing more than 'knowledge'.

? ? 137. Every thing in the universe is formed for a reason.  The perfect saint not only explains the cause of creation, but also explains the annihilation of each thing.

    138. Not knowing the truth of suffering, the cause of suffering, the state of eliminating suffering and the method of eliminating suffering - this is called "ignorance".

    139. There are three forms of mental training: the first is the training of noble morals, the second is the training of superb thinking, and the third is the training of advanced understanding.

    140. Let your old age be as innocent and romantic as your childhood, and let your childhood be as calm and steady as your old age. This means: don¡¯t mix arrogance with your wisdom, and don¡¯t let your humility mix.  Lack of wisdom.

    141. Wisdom comes from meditation. Without meditation, great wisdom cannot be produced.

    142. Suppose a person lives a hundred years without real wisdom.  If you can't discipline yourself, it's better to live for only one day and have the skills to be wise and calm.

    21. Tolerance

    143. If someone speaks ill of you, you do not need to be malicious, resentful, contemptuous, or dissatisfied with them.

    144. If you harbor resentment, it will not only hinder your mental development, but also prevent you from judging whether the remarks are right or wrong.

    145. At the same time, if others give me a high hat and praise my teachings and monks too much, don't be too proud.  Because this will also damage your inner (mental) development.  You should accept the truth and show them the actual situation.

    146. The lotus flower is born among the abandoned waste and sludge, but it still emits a pleasant fragrance, just like a Buddhist disciple born among people with strong sexual desires.  And can exude the light of wisdom.

    147. This is not just starting today, it has been said as early as ancient times: Those who are silent are slandered; those who speak too much are slandered; those who speak too little are also slandered; there is no one in the world who is not slandered.  Slanderous person.

    22. Contentment

    148. Don¡¯t expect unfair achievements.

    150. Live a life of rough clothing and simple food.  Moderate your wants, reduce your needs, and live in moderation without worries.  You will find contentment.

    151. Even if it rains gold from the sky, it still cannot satisfy the senses.  There is no pleasure in the senses, only pain.

One hundred??12. People always give alms according to their own confidence and preferences.  Being jealous of other people's food and possessions brings no peace day or night.

    23. Health

    153. Greed, hatred and ignorance are the three major elements of disease.

    154. There are two kinds of diseases. What are those two?  Diseases of the body and diseases of the mind.  Some people seem to be able to live without getting sick for a year, two years, or even a hundred or more years. However, in this world, except for saints with clean minds, there are too few people who can live without getting sick for a moment.

? 155. People who are emotionally unstable, cannot be trusted by others and do not treat their friends well will have their health condition greatly reduced.

    156. A good person is not greedy for anything.  He only talks about noble things and does not pursue love and enjoyment.  No matter he encounters happiness or pain, a wise man is never too proud or sad.

    157. A smart person will not overly express his feelings, whether happy or painful.

    158. A wise man should clear away the dirt in his mind and give up sensual enjoyment so that there is no worries in his heart.

    159. If there are no wounds on your hands, you can use your hands to hold poisonous things. The poison will not invade the hands without wounds.  In the same way, people who have done no bad things will not be punished.

    16. People who are energetic, think often, act pure, distinguish right from wrong, exercise self-discipline, live according to the truth, and be alert but not lethargic will definitely be healthier.

    161. Prevention is better than cure.

    162. Doctors must first determine the disease before prescribing medication or performing treatment.

    24. Alms

? ? 163. The fields are barren because of weeds, and people suffer because of greed. Giving things to people without greed will yield rich rewards.

    164. There are three types of charity: the first is financial charity, the second is the charity of truth, and the third is to eliminate the fear of sentient beings.

    165. When a noble person gives away something, he does not have any intention or purpose in mind. The merit produced by this kind of charity without expecting any retribution is difficult to measure.

One hundred and sixty-six, not the real me.  Because if it were me, my body would be free and not sick.

    167. When the belief of selflessness is deeply rooted in a person's heart, (when a person deeply believes in the truth of selflessness), he can thus achieve a state of tranquility, calmness and a more composed state.

    25. Friendship

One hundred and sixty-eight, sincere friendship tastes great.

    169. When traveling, if you cannot find a partner who is better or equal to yourself, it is better to walk alone than to keep the company of fools.

    17. The flattery of friends will destroy a person's moral character. In the same way, the insults of enemies can sometimes correct your mistakes.

    175. Wealth will destroy stupid people, but it cannot destroy people who want to get rid of troubles. When a stupid person craves wealth, he not only harms himself, but also harms others.

    176. Lay people should divide their property into four parts: one part for daily use and two parts for savings or charity.  Keep another copy for emergency backup.
