Chapter 354: Allied Forces Retake Burma (16)

The sacrificial spirit of the infantry infected the artillery. The artillerymen braved the Japanese bullets, adjusted the muzzle, loaded the ammunition, pulled the breech, and with a flash of fire, six shells flew towards the building.  The loud explosions had not stopped yet, and the artillery fired several more shells in succession.

There were six mountain cannons, each of which fired 5 shells, and dozens of shells hit the library building.  More than a dozen large holes were blasted out on the fourth and third floors of the building.  The Japanese firepower points were hit hard and the density of shooting was greatly weakened.  The artillerymen still did not understand their hatred and continued to bombard the library building until the fourth floor was completely destroyed.

Many of the Japanese soldiers on the third floor were crushed to death by the collapsed floors on the fourth floor. The remaining Japanese soldiers on the third floor were still shooting wildly outwards.  Four gunners were killed, and the assistant gunner followed.

The artillerymen lowered the muzzle slightly and blasted the third floor until the third floor collapsed.  It would be beyond the capabilities of the mountain cannon to blast further down.

Fortunately, the Japanese army only had one layer of firepower left, and the covering heavy machine guns and light machine guns opened fire at the same time. The dense bullets hit the windows of the building with a "pop-pop" sound. Several bullets got into the shooting holes and knocked off the Japanese helmets.  .  The Japanese soldiers shrank their necks in fright, and their firepower suddenly weakened.

The light and heavy machine guns covered by the ** suppressed the Japanese firepower, and a shell from the artillery exploded the library wall, opening a gap for the infantry.  The infantry took the opportunity to use the bunker to approach the building guarded by the Japanese.

There was no concealment within 150 meters of the library building. The Japanese soldiers bravely braved Japanese bullets and rushed to the courtyard outside the building. When they rushed to the courtyard wall, everyone breathed a sigh of relief, leaned against the wall, and headed inside.  Throw a few grenades.

There was an explosion, mixed with the screams of the Japanese soldiers.  A Japanese soldier leaned against the gap in the courtyard wall, pointed the grenade launcher at the shooting hole in the Japanese building, pulled the trigger, and a grenade flew straight into the shooting hole.  "Boom" the Japanese shooting stopped.

The police fired several rounds of grenades one after another, suppressing the Japanese machine guns, and a dozen soldiers rolled into the yard.  They entered the yard and immediately took cover.

The anti-Japanese soldiers who entered the yard hid behind the bunker and frequently fired bullets from the barrel.  The Japanese soldiers at the gap fired several grenades again at a very close distance. The grenades accurately penetrated the shooting holes. The Japanese machine guns were damaged and no machine gun could fire.

A dozen soldiers in the yard immediately rushed towards the building with guns in hand. The first floor of the building was completely sealed, and the soldiers could not enter the building.  The Japanese soldiers inside the building kept throwing grenades outward, and the Japanese soldiers downstairs dodged one after another. Several soldiers were still hit by shrapnel and fell in a pool of blood.

An anti-Japanese soldier said decisively, "Brothers, give me the grenade!" Before a few brothers could understand, they mechanically handed the grenade to him.

After taking the grenade, the soldier ordered: "Get out of the way! I'll blow up the building!" Only then did the remaining soldiers realize that this brother was going to blow up the wall with a cluster grenade.  But how can I blow it up without any tools?

In an instant, these ** brothers all understood that this soldier was going to sacrifice himself to blow up the wall.  With tears in their eyes, they quickly avoided.  The soldier tied the seven grenades he collected with his leggings and pressed his chest tightly against the cluster grenades. When he pulled the fuse, green smoke flashed and there was a loud noise, and a large hole was blown open on the first floor.

The remaining soldiers immediately got into the hole and entered the building.  The Japanese soldiers were stunned by the loud noise just now. When they realized it, six Japanese soldiers had already entered the building.  The two sides engaged in a fierce gun battle in the building.

Most of the Japanese soldiers in the building came to deal with the Chinese soldiers who entered the building. The Japanese soldiers took the opportunity to attack, and a platoon of soldiers successfully entered the building.

Fierce gunfire came from the building. Chinese and Japanese soldiers kept firing at each other. The Japanese submachine guns fired fiercely and their shooting speed was much faster than that of the Japanese soldiers.  Some Japanese soldiers suppressed the Japanese fire, and three Japanese soldiers took the opportunity to rush to the stairs.  Aim at the stairs and shoot with a burst, and the Japs by the stairs were killed.

The three soldiers took the opportunity to rush up the stairs, and at the entrance of the stairs, fired a hail of bullets in all directions.  He rolled forward and quickly rolled behind a sandbag.  The Japanese soldiers kept rushing upstairs, and the Japanese soldiers were shot into bloody gourds under the fire of submachine guns.

The gunfire in the building stopped, and the Japanese soldiers carefully counted the number of Japanese soldiers in the building. As long as the Japanese soldiers were lying on the ground, they would go up and give them a bayonet.

In the attack area of ??the New 38th Division, three soldiers and the troops got separated. They walked carefully through the ruins.  At this time, a soldier pointed forward and said, "Look!"

The other two Japanese soldiers followed his fingers and saw two Japanese machine gunners. One was carrying a crooked machine gun and the other was carrying an ammunition box. They were climbing up the corner of the broken wall of the house opposite, preparing to set up the machine gun.  .

"How about we grab the machine gun?" The soldier who spoke first saidSaid greedily.

The other two soldiers nodded and did as they were told. The three of them slowly moved closer to the Japanese soldiers along the ruins.  After approaching the broken wall, the tall Japanese soldier immediately reached out and grabbed the ankle of the main shooter of the Japanese machine gun. He stretched out his hand and pulled the Japanese soldier down inexplicably.

The other two soldiers dragged down the Japanese soldiers carrying ammunition, and the five of them struggled together.  The Japanese machine gunner was very strong. He freed up one hand, touched a small brick on the ground, and pointed it at the head of the Japanese soldier.  The Japanese soldier tilted his head, and a big bump appeared on his forehead.

The big Japanese soldier was so anxious that he reached out and grabbed the enemy's testicles. He squeezed them with all his strength. The enemy screamed and fainted from the pain.

The big Japanese soldier took out his bayonet, pointed it at the Japanese's heart and stabbed him several times, blood splattered all over him.  The other two soldiers dealt with the ammunition man much more easily. The Japanese was pulled down in a daze, and before he could see who it was, his throat was cut with a sharp bayonet.

The three of them had just set up their machine guns behind a wall of ruins. A large group of Japanese soldiers came over from the opposite side. The big soldier picked up the Japanese machine gun and pulled the trigger. A hail of bullets came out of the muzzle of the gun, spitting out a slender line.  Tongues of fire.

A soldier next to him put a bullet protector on him, and the other threw a grenade forward.  The Japs who were marching furtively were suddenly shot by machine guns and four Japs soldiers were killed.

The others quickly dispersed and crouched behind broken walls or shelters, but when they heard the sound of a machine gun, something was wrong. It was a machine gun with a crooked handle. It was an authentic Japanese machine gun.  The Japanese sergeant leading the team was afraid of a misunderstanding and ordered them to stop advancing.  He sent a soldier to shout in Japanese, and three Chinese soldiers stopped shooting when the Japanese army stopped advancing.

Hearing the Japanese army¡¯s shouting, they discussed it and took off the helmet from the Japanese soldier who had just been killed, deliberately exposing a section of the helmet on the broken wall.  The Japs on the other side heard no shooting, and saw no reply from the other side. Instead, they saw a piece of a soldier's helmet quietly exposed. It seemed that the other side did not dare to confirm whether it was truly a friendly force.

The Japs Sergeant thought he understood the machine gunner's thoughts, so he waved his hand casually, "Let's go, it's one of our own." All nine Japs soldiers stood up and walked towards the broken wall in front.

All nine Japs walked out of the bunker and walked 4 meters forward. The Japanese soldiers hiding behind the broken wall suddenly fired their machine guns, and a string of hot bullets suddenly shot out. The Japs soldiers stared in disbelief.  , and fell in a pool of blood in confusion.  The three Japanese soldiers immediately jumped out of the broken wall and approached the Japanese soldiers in a pool of blood.

The Japanese soldier had not yet breathed his last. His confused eyes finally discovered that the soldiers in front were not Japanese soldiers at all, but Chinese soldiers.  The Japanese sergeant used his last strength, raised the bastard box gun in his hand, and pointed it at the Japanese soldier. Before he could pull the trigger, the machine gun in the hand of the big Japanese soldier spewed out a tongue of flame.

In the northern urban area, there are very few houses with reinforced concrete structures. The Chinese infantry attack is progressing rapidly, and several main streets are controlled by the police.

In the southern urban area, Commander Huang Wei saw that there were many high-rise buildings. In order to protect the tanks as much as possible, he adopted the tactic of using tanks to control the main street intersections, a small number of tanks and infantry to attack the main streets, and then clearing the streets one by one.

With the exception of one of the three mechanized infantry regiments of the Armored Corps, which cooperated with tanks to block the street entrance, the remaining two regiments, in company units, launched attacks on the neighborhoods controlled by the Japanese.

The infantry dispersed into combat groups and advanced along both sides of the street. There were three combat groups at the front, and three tanks slowly following behind them 5 meters behind. Three more infantry combat groups followed 5 meters behind, and then again behind them.  Three tanks.

The Chinese infantry uses a combat group to deal with the enemy situation in the front. The combat group on the left is responsible for searching the enemy situation on the street on the right, and the combat group on the right is responsible for searching the enemy situation on the street on the left.

This street fighting tactic is an effective tactic that soldiers have explored in actual combat. Chinese soldiers carefully searched along both sides of the street, and the black-hole muzzles of the vehicle-mounted machine guns on the tanks carefully passed through every window through which bullets might be fired.

The soldiers of the 9th Machine Infantry Company, their target is No. 9 Binhai Road occupied by the Japanese.  Just 20 meters away, the alert soldiers noticed movement in a window next to the street, and a dense burst of bullets shot into the window.  Almost simultaneously, fire broke out from many windows on both sides of the street.

Soldiers on both sides of the street hid behind bunkers, while tanks and machine guns aimed at the shooting windows and fired fiercely. A fierce hail of bullets hit them, and there were screams of Japanese soldiers.

Every thirty meters, the Chinese soldiers stopped advancing and concentrated their forces to occupy a building as a stronghold, leaving a few soldiers to guard it.  When occupying a building, the Japanese inside often hid and did not fire, waiting for the Chinese soldiers to rush into the building, and the two sides started a fierce battle.

After the entire block was captured,With the cooperation of the stronghold, the remaining troops who had gone to hold on to the stronghold cleaned up the streets and searched for and suppressed the remaining Japanese troops.  In the cleared blocks, barricades were built with sandbags at both ends of the street, and troops were sent to control the barricades to prevent Japanese soldiers from infiltrating again.
