The Year of the Snake is here, I wish you all a Happy New Year

"I'm surprised! Such a fat duck is being targeted by others!"

Lin Jian was so angry that he cursed. No wonder he was angry, because when he floated his submarine to the depth of the periscope, he suddenly discovered the battlecruiser Tsukuba.  The giant ship with a full draft and more than 13,000 tons was docked quietly in the military port. Some sailors were walking around on the deck, and they were carrying supplies.

However, with such a fat one, he found that he was not the only one targeting him.  Two Otter-class submarines began to approach it. What made him feel even more uncomfortable was that among the three Seawolf-class submarines passing by, there was also one that was also eyeing this giant.

Soon a brief radio message came from the Seawolf-class submarine. After reading it, Lin Jian was so angry that he cursed a madman, and then informed his subordinates to choose a new target.

The current radio technology is still very crude, especially the radios used by underwater submarines, which are full of faults.  Generally, if you exceed five nautical miles, you may encounter various problems, and because it is easy to be discovered, it is rarely used.  Especially at such a close distance from the Japanese ship, one mistake could easily expose the sneak attack submarine fleet.

"However, these words are of no use to a madman.  Because Lin Jian was facing a complete madman, a madman named Chen Ce who was seven years younger than him.

Chen Ce, a Singaporean overseas Chinese, was born in Wenchang, Hainan in 1892.  He went to Singapore with his father when he was three years old and returned to China when he was eight years old.  After graduating from elementary school, he went to the "Guangdong Naval School" in Guangzhou and joined the Tongmenghui.  He once participated in the Revolution of 1911. After the founding of the Republic of China, he secretly organized the Maritime School Comrades Association and organized an uprising against Yuan Yuan. After the defeat, he fled Hong Kong.  Later, after the situation in the Republic of China gradually stabilized, he returned to Guangdong and joined Hu Hanmin's command. Later, after Long Jiguang occupied Guangdong, he persecuted the Kuomintang people vigorously. He was forced to flee to nearby neighboring provinces, and then traveled all the way to Shanghai, where he rejoined the navy incognito.

After Li Han came to power, he was expelled from the Navy after it was exposed that he had used a false identity when checking files.  Later, he contacted Sa Zhenbing through connections. Navy veteran Sa Zhenbing saw that he had received a good education and knew the navy very well, so he recruited him into the Naval University. After a year and a half of further study, he wrote a letter himself  A letter of recommendation was given to his former subordinate Cheng Biguang, which gave him another chance to join the navy.

However, Chen Ce was once a radical revolutionary. Cheng Biguang was worried that neglect of discipline would lead to him leaking the secrets of the Xiamen military port, so he sent him to the closely guarded submarine base for training. Unexpectedly, it only took him half a year.  He was more capable than the captain of a Holland-class training submarine who taught them at the time. In early 2018, after several rounds of screening, he became an honorable Seawolf-class submarine captain and was allowed to participate in this hunt.

"Reduce the speed to five knots! Turn the rudder left! Retract the periscope. The No. 1 water tank remains unchanged. The No. 2 water tank is still filled with water. We are ready to dive!

Lin Jian issued a series of orders. He was prepared to take a risk and dive the submarine to a sufficient depth and directly sneak into the inner parking lot. However, this was very dangerous because it could hit a Japanese warship on the surface at any time. To be on the safe side, Lin Jian  Order the watertight hatches of the boat to be closed and the sailors in the forward cabin to gather in the command cabin.

In the sealed command cabin, Lin Jian held a timepiece and carefully calculated the time, estimating the time to arrive at the inner parking lot.

The air inside the boat is already very turbid.  The smell of engine oil and diesel made all the crew members breathe very heavily, but no one spoke. They all looked at the timer held by the captain, looking forward to the arrival of the scissors during the battle.

"This is it! Slow down to two knots! Drain water tanks No. 1 and 2, and float to periscope depth! Sailors enter the forward cabin and prepare torpedoes!"

The periscope quickly rose. Lin Jian took off a towel full of engine oil smell from the wall next to him and wiped the sweat from his forehead.  Then he walked up to the observer and asked him for the periscope to observe into the military port.

The military port was still quiet. The Japanese had no idea that Keelung Port would be attacked by a sneak attack. Even the security was very lax, or even non-existent.

Don¡¯t blame them for being so confident, because in the entire Far East and even the Eastern Pacific region, the Japanese Navy is now a hegemonic presence.  The four major naval powers, Britain, the United States, France and Germany, were stuck in the quagmire of the European War and could not get out. The only two major forces that might conflict with Japan were Russia and the Republic of China.  But Russia was falling into revolutionary chaos. The Republic of China's weak navy and two Japanese squadrons could basically destroy the entire maritime power of the Republic of China, so they naturally did not take it seriously.

It is precisely because of its absolute confidence in the empire's maritime power that the Japanese navy dared to use its small capabilities to attack Manchu troop transport ships and Russian ships.?, threatening to approach U.S. ports and seizing German maritime colonies and Dutch maritime colonies.

But it¡¯s also this kind of absolute confidence that the Japanese will remember forever after today.

Controlling the periscope, he carefully searched for the old Mikasa battleship in the military port.  Lin Jian was anxious. The attack time was about to come, but he still hadn't found the Mikasa battleship. You must know that this old Japanese battleship stationed in Taiwan has been rated as offshore by the Japanese Navy because it is too old.  The defense ship has withdrawn from the ranks of first-line combat ships.  However, it is not necessary to mention the threat it poses to landing ships. If it cannot be solved, it will definitely become a formidable enemy of the National Defense Forces landing fleet.

During the anxious search, Lin Jian soon became happy. When the submarine got closer to the military port, he finally found the Mikasa battleship docked at the beginning of the waterway in the middle of the military port.

"Haha! A fat sheep ran away, and a fat pig came! Today, I, Lin Ziyue, represent the heroes of our navy who died at the hands of the Japanese, and seek justice. Everyone, pay attention, prepare to fight! The torpedo soldiers set their torpedoes  ! Azimuth, turning angle! Load torpedoes!"

Ziyue was his name. Lin Jian was extremely excited after identifying the battleship Mikasa, and hurriedly ordered the torpedoes to be loaded and prepared for battle.

In an instant, everyone in the submarine held their breath and listened to the sound of torpedo loading coming from the front cabin. They all understood that once the torpedo was launched, today's sneak attack would officially begin.

The black-headed torpedoes mastered by Germany should be the most advanced torpedo technology in the world today. However, it is a pity that during the period of good relations between the Republic of China and Germany, they could not obtain the production technology of black-headed torpedoes from Germany. Germany was willing to provide a large number of torpedoes to the Republic of China.  Exported blackhead torpedoes, but only transferred a whitehead torpedo production line and related technologies to the Republic of China.

The Whitehead torpedo is an early torpedo. The inventor, British engineer Robert Whitehead, successfully developed the first torpedo in 1866.  Because of its fish-like appearance, it was called a "torpedo" and named after Whitehead (which literally means "white head").

Today, the most advanced torpedo technology in the world is almost all developed from Robert's white-headed torpedo, and the same is true for the German black-headed torpedo.

Because the navy was weak, the Republic of China put a lot of effort into torpedoes and submarines. During the anti-German trend in the United States in the past few years, many senior engineers and German military experts were poached from the United States. With their technology, the Republic of China's  Torpedo production technology has achieved long-term development.  Although it still lags far behind Germany's new blackhead torpedo technology in terms of initial speed and range, it has barely caught up with Germany's first-generation blackhead torpedo technology.  The better aspect is that the Republic of China transformed the domestic Luoshui-type torpedo based on the white-headed torpedo technology transferred from Germany, and the Republic of China was able to produce all its own parts.

The torpedoes equipped on the Seawolf-class ocean-going submarines are all domestically produced Luoshui-class torpedoes, with a diameter of 15 inches and a weight of 800 kilograms. When launched at a speed of 27 knots, its range can reach 4,500 meters.  When launched at a maximum speed of thirty-eight knots, the range of this torpedo can also reach one thousand two hundred meters. Once the warhead weighing one hundred and twenty kilograms explodes, it can easily destroy any Dreadnought-class warship underwater.  structure.

When Lin Jian gave the order to attack, a Luoshui-type torpedo was drawing a long line in the sea water at a maximum speed of thirty-eight knots. The two coaxially counter-rotating propeller blades were rotating rapidly, providing the basis for the torpedo.  The forward movement provides powerful power. The same high-speed rotating gyroscope guides the torpedo in the correct direction. The engine combustion chamber maintains high temperature and leaves a long string of bubbles at the tail of the torpedo. Under the protection of these modern machinery  , this torpedo, which represents the rise of the civilian military industry, is approaching the target at high speed.

Soon, the torpedo hit the hard hull. Under the action of inertia, the firing pin that had already been released from the safety state immediately detonated the detonator. In an instant, the high-explosive gun in the warhead quickly released energy, violently.  The explosion almost immediately sealed the warship's fate.

After the Sino-Japanese Sino-Japanese War, in order to confront the expansion of the Russian Empire in the Far East, the Japanese Navy began to expand its armaments.  Mikasa was built as one of the "Six-Six Fleet" plans (planned to be equipped with 6 battleships and 6 armored cruisers).  It was manufactured by the British Vickers Company's Barrow-in-Furness shipyard. Construction started in early 1899 and was launched at the end of 1900. It was mainly equipped with four twin-mounted 305mm caliber main guns and 14 single-mounted 152mm caliber artillery pieces.  This old-fashioned Mikasa battleship has a standard displacement of 15,000 tons, a length of 131 meters, a width of 23 meters, and a total of 842 officers and soldiers on board.

The past of the battleship Mikasa is undoubtedly glorious and troubled. After being commissioned in 1902, it became the flagship of the Combined Fleet the following year.  On February 6, 1904, he began to participate in the Russo-Japanese War.  On August 10, he participated in the Battle of the Yellow Sea.  Sailed into Wugang on December 28th.On February 14, 1905, it sailed out of Kure Port, passed Etajima and Sasebo, and stationed at Zhenwan Bay on the Korean Peninsula on the 21st.  Later, they used this place as a base to conduct training in the Tsushima Strait.  On May 27th and 28th, it fought the Russian Baltic Fleet in the Battle of Tsushima Strait.  In this naval battle, Mikasa lost 113 crew members.

On September 11, 1905, it sank in an explosion accident at the rear ammunition depot in Sasebo Port, killing 339 crew members.  It was salvaged and repaired in 1906 and put into service again. Unfortunatelyif there is no accident this time, Japan will never salvage it and put it into use again.

Such a warship, if used in an ordinary naval battle, relying on its large-caliber naval guns and its thick armor, can definitely fight fiercely with opponents of the same level, and will never be easily defeated. But now, an underwater ship  The submarine with a displacement of only a few hundred tons fired only one torpedo, which ended the old battleship. When a sudden big explosion sounded, the unsuspecting battleship Mikasa was caught in the shocking water column that was lifted up.  The ship was severely hit in the middle of the port side of the hull. The explosion detonated the gunpowder magazine inside the ship, causing the entire hull to be blown into two pieces on the spot, which was regarded as the end of the service history of this warship.

This big explosion sounded like a clarion call for an attack. The more than ten submarines that had been lurking in the military port and the surrounding submarines each launched torpedoes in tacit agreement at the targets they had already focused on. Following the explosions one after another,  , the entire Keelung Military Port was like a huge joyful place, with the sound of "firecrackers" non-stop.  However, it was the fleet that was happy to attack, but it plunged the Japanese into chaos and madness.

At the same time, the same explosions were heard in the Penghu Islands, Kaohsiung, Tainan and other places.

The Republic of China, for the first time, went to war without declaring it to the outside world!
