    Sports reporters always report every last heroic moment and unbelievable "Hollywood ending", but in reality, Hollywood usually does a poor job of basing a real sports story on it.  The filmmakers adapt this kind of story from the ground up as a screenplay, draining all the paint and oddities from the actual plot and eliminating any difficulty that might distract the audience from the "inspirational" message they are determined to convey.

    These things roughly happened in "Soul Surfer", a true story about courage.

    To be honest, Ye Wei has delivered a beautiful work. This well-known 18-year-old film genius did not put on kid gloves. He used his own way to create a group of imperfect, far from ideal characters, with ups and downs.  A legitimate and subversive adaptation of a true sports story, he can make every viewer cry.  There is no doubt that the film will hit its target audience and also appeal to a wider audience of non-Christian faiths, becoming the kind of hit theaters that consume it.

    However, if the real-life heroine of the movie, Bethany Hamilton, has a deeper and more personal performance that can enhance the movie; if the screenwriter, producer, and director of the movie, Ye Wei, has a more focused attitude, a greater  Pursuing and conveying her will and courage in a more exciting way, "Soul Surfer" may break through its inspirational purpose for ordinary audiences, and it can reach the realm of greatness.

    Ye Wei did everything just right, using his mysterious hands to firmly control the audience on the inspirational road. Along the way, he told us the story of Bethany that we have been told repeatedly: a surfer who was born in a Hawaiian surfer family.  hand, and lost her left arm in a shark attack in 2003 when she was 13 years old.  Just one month later, she overcame the pain and suffering and returned to the ocean to continue surfing, suffering setbacks but never giving up, and is still competing today.

    We have long been familiar with this story and have lost the excitement, but Ye Wei can still tell it so inspiringly that sometimes he even jumps outside the train.?It's a pity that he didn't have the courage to leave the train.  He was still reciting the facts, why Bethany, her family and friends, or what made them the way they were.

    There are some extraordinary shining points in the movie. Once again, Ye Wei did not let us see them completely. He was stingy in exploring the deeper struggles of the characters, seemingly to prevent the inspiration of ordinary viewers from being affected, and he only briefly questioned religious beliefs.  And quickly used dramatic comedy to dispel the displeasure of all target audiences.  This is aided by a stunning performance from Melissa McCarthy, who plays a church teen mentor who makes the other actors seem like they don't exist every time she appears.

    But the main actors all performed well, especially the 15-year-old Emma Roberts (Julia Roberts' niece) who plays Bethany, and Colin Firth and Helen Hunt who play her parents.  As a novice, Roberts executes her surfing scenes brilliantly, expressing youthful and strong conviction in those dramatic moments when the heroine is self-pitying, frustrated and angry, doubting her faith, and determined to beat the odds.

    She rarely wears makeup in the movie, and the same goes for Faith and Hunter. They are exposed to the sun, and with their tough skin, plain faces, and strong bodies, they look like they are people who love outdoor sports, especially the ocean.  .  In short, these three people, as well as Andrew Garfield and Xavier Dolan, who played Bethany's two brothers, and Shailene Woodley, who played Bethany's friend, all gave their terrible stories.  The unity to survive the ordeals of life, the spirit of competition and the pursuit of excellence.

    The sequence from the shark attack to the rush to a nearby hospital is the best sequence in the film, as is Bethenny's rush home from church and the ending scene.  Additionally, all of the Hawaiian scenery shots and the shots where the camera had to work on the water were superbly shot, and there were visually and psychologically stunning moments during Bethany's game.

    The film does its best to avoid Hollywood sports reporter clich¨¦s, such as Teresa Menor's surfer, a rival who should have taken every opportunity to mock Bethany on the field. She is Bethany's.  Those who accept the teaching.  Bethany didn¡¯t have her final heroic moment, or rather had a new approach.

    But it also has a lot of clich¨¦s, like the media reporters who are chasing Bethenny and her family, Bethenny¡¯s friends take photos while the one-armed Bethany can only watch pitifully from the side, like all the characters.  Able to tell a lot of truth, most of them perform specific functions in known storylines and rarely have impressive supporting characters.  This is refreshing compared to Ye Wei's masterpiece "Little Miss Sunshine", where even his own guest role was refreshing. You can see the difference.

    Soundtrack composer Mike Giacchino should be singled out for his excellent use of Hawaiian music styles and gospel music songs.

    This movie is difficult to rate. If you want to be moved and inspired to shed some tears before leaving the theater with a smile, this is an excellent choice.  But if you have higher expectations, it will disappoint you, this is just an inspirational movie that Ye Wei easily disguises as a great movie with his talent and means.  Can you say he is not a genius?  ¡¿

    Nina was shocked after reading through the film review from "The Hollywood Reporter". This film critic clearly saw so many "good" things, but ss is great but not great enough and can only be used as inspiration for ordinary audiences?  So I only give it 2/4 points?

    She stared at the "general-audiences", which meant that viy's filming was too superficial. It was useless for the general audience to cry to death.
