Text Chapter 508 Witch Carrie

Previous page        Return to Catalog        Next page

[Brian De Palma's "Carrie" is an absolutely hypnotic horror movie, with a shark from "Jaws" jumping on board and swimming along in the best lines.  Shocking ending.  It is also (and this is what makes it so great) a profound and penetrating portrait of beings.  The girl named Carrie isn't just another horror-assembly-line product; she's a shy, smart, complicated high school student, just like one of those legions of kids we've all known.

Although there are some differences there.  She has the power of telekinesis and can control things with her mind without touching them.  It was her gradually awakening capacity, unleashed in response to her mother's shrill religious fervor, a small way of revealing herself.  She looked in a mirror, which was broken, and she was repairing herself.  Her mother tried to hold on to her, but she threw her back against the sofa.  But then, on prom night

The fact that the students progress so relentlessly and so unstoppably until that change occurs is why the last 20 minutes of the film are so captivating.  It's not a nail-biting sci-fi fantasy movie, but it's a study of a character we all know and understand, and when she takes full advantage of (or uses) her bizarre powers, we all understand why.

This type of narrative development doesn't exactly showcase Palma's strengths, but here he displays a talent for painterly personality and personal attack; we really wouldn't have guessed De Palma, who would have been so flashy in appearance.  , how could it be so deep.

Part of the reason for his success is due to the very good performance of Sissy Spacek as Carrie, and Piper Lowry as Carrie's mother.  They formed a closed, claustrophobic household, with the mother translating her spiritual fear of sex into a twisted personal religion.  She constantly punishes the girl, locks her in a closet with a statue of Jesus bleeding horribly, and refuses to allow her to develop normal friendships.

So it¡¯s no wonder Carrie is so quiet in school. She has long blond hair but she lets it hang straight down and basically covers her face.  She sits at the back of the class and doesn't speak much. She is the butt of jokes made by her classmates.  Meanwhile, the most popular girl in the class plots a truly cruel prank on Carrie, which relies on the equally popular boyfriend of another popular girl to invite Carrie to the prom.  It¡¯s the same teammates you play in every different sport.  But he wasn't playing a prank, he was completely serious about inviting Carrie.

¡°And then De Palma gives us an unexpected yet incredible ball scene where Carrie becomes, really, beautiful.  While that's a little off, De Palma has an effective way of delivering it, as Carrie dances with her partner, the camera spins around to film them, the romance begins but goes too fast, like if they got out of hand  will¡¡

I don¡¯t want to spoil for you or even hint at what happens next, and I can¡¯t spoil the climax even a little bit. All I can say is that Carrie is a true horror story.  This isn't some crude work assembled from the spare parts of some old Vincent Price classic, it's a real one that mines the horrors from the characters themselves.  The scariest horror story m.  r.  The works of James, Edgar Allan Poe, and Oliver O'Neill are all like this, they exploit the fears of the beings they observe.  This happened in this movie too, making it forever.  ¡¿

    Roger Ebert, January 1, 1976

    ¡ù¡ù

"Weige, have you seen the DVD of "Carrie"?"

    "I've seen it."

    "What do you think?"

    "I have no idea."

Hearing Ye Wei¡¯s flat words from the phone, Jon Fehrheimer was shocked. After returning from viy¡¯s trip, he felt even lower and asked: ¡°What¡¯s your evaluation?¡±

"Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't work, I don't know."

"It seems we have to make some changes to the publicity planWeige, how could it be?"

¡°The cowardice of the office and the mediocrity of the creator are punished by the movie.¡±

    ¡¡

Like nearly all major and mini-major studios, Lionsgate's film promotions are planned and executed internally and externally.  Externally, there are about 25 publicity agencies in the United States that serve domestic film distribution, covering traditional media, new media, different regions and different types of communication platforms. The fees range from high to low depending on the work tasks.

Not all movie promotions can be blockbuster-style and cover the whole world. How to choose a promotion position will increasingly consider the strategic thinking of the distributor, as well as research on regions, ethnic groups, groups, etc., so the promotion has not even started yet.  Already spent millions on research companies, millions of dollars are common.

The audience of "Carrie" is very clear: young people who want to watch thrillers and find excitement, and fans of Carrie.

Lionsgate continues to focus on investing in new media, and trailers are everywhere on the Internet; of course there will be film critic screenings.

Although film critics usually do not break the film studio's timetable ban on publishing film reviews, the news media may not necessarily comply. Especially the most influential media often sneak film reviews out of their own interests, but they are not necessarily good words. For mainstream manufacturers  Both blockbuster films and small films from independent producers are like this.

Nowadays, distributors often publish movie reviews on Thursday. Maybe one day it will be pushed to Wednesday, but not now.

Among the three major new films this week, before Thursday, October 5, "The Departed" has already stolen 9 mainstream film reviews and is leading the pack. Not only because of the powerfulness of its film studio, Warner Bros., but also because of 9 reviews.  Only 1 movie review gave a negative review, and it has a freshness rating of 88%. WB would do this.

"The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: Prequel", which is also owned by Time Warner's New Line, stole two articles. "The Hollywood Reporter" and "Entertainment Weekly" both criticized it as clich¨¦ and boring. Its film reviews were released on the day the ban was lifted.  Even today before its release, "Carrie" naturally has to keep up. It is better to be praised and scolded than to be a step late.

Carriage¡¯s MPAA rating: R, bloody violence and disturbing images, language, some sexual content

    ¡¡

"Here are the nominees for Best Actress: Mary-Christine Barlot, "Cousins"; Talia Shire, "Rocky"; Sissy Spacek, "Carrie"  ; Liv Ullmann, "Face to Face"; Faye Dunaway, "On TV" won the Oscar"

The sky in Toronto was dawning, and Nina woke up from her sweet dream. She felt a little unhappy. Why did she wake up? It happens every time, just a little bit worse!

She lay in bed and thought about it, it was a sweet dream about Oscar.

"Carrie" is not an ordinary teenage horror story. If the actors perform well, they can get all the awards. The old version had two Oscar nominations, Piper Laurie's Best Supporting Actress, Cissy Spai  Sirk's Best Actress.

That was Spacek¡¯s first Oscar nomination. He has been nominated 6 times so far, all for leading actress. The second time he won the Oscar for Best Actress was in 1981 for ¡°Miner¡¯s Daughter¡±.  She was a true acting genius, one of the best actresses of her time.

The legend began with "Carrie", so Carrie is a very sought-after role, not to mention ordinary actors. Many big teenage stars want to play it, like Lindsay Lohan.  If it weren't for the low budget, "The Exorcism Video" and Ye Wei, Nina knew she wouldn't be able to play Carrie.

Does she look like Carrie?  Now look at the old version of Carrie. In fact, Carrie is the most fashionable and beautiful one. For example, she has straight golden hair. In the 1970s, electric curly hair was popular. Everyone wore an afro. Nowadays, only that style is considered  People make fun of.

Nina was born with straight black hair, and the style she wore in "Carrie" was long, dark brown hair. She thought it was beautiful.

¡°But acting doesn¡¯t just have to be beautiful, and she really tried her best. She tried her best during preparation and filming.  This performance was always under a lot of pressure and she was very mentally exhausted. On the final day, she felt a sense of relief.

Speaking of Carrie, many people may say she is weird, but she wants to be kind, like her mother said, "a growing little elephant."  Carrie doesn't want to hurt anyone, but it seems like everyone wants to hurt her. Is Carrie's revenge evil?  Is there anything right or wrong in killing out of control?  Nina thought about it and couldn't understand it, but this kind of confusion was not what the story was about.  Ye Wei said, "This is a tragedy." She agreed that this was a tragedy, so Carrie's revenge was not smooth, but only caused greater pain, destroying others and herself.  It's such a tragedy that she kills with the kindness of her heart.

Nina tried her best to play Carrie's kindness, a little bit cheerful, but with a dark cloud of depression above her head.  Kimberly agreed and encouraged her to do this, and praised her for doing a good job when it was finished. I hope so!  Think Hillary Swank, think Sissy Spacek

Like the sweet dream just now, she was nominated for the Best Actress Oscar next year as Carrie.

She checked it out before, so she could be the second youngest nominee in history!  Judging by the day the nominations were announced, the youngest was Keisha Custer-Hughes from "Whale Rider" a few years ago. She was 13 years and more than 300 days old. I don't remember. That was Hueys' first.  Acting in a movie for the first time is really amazing.

Spacek was 27 years old when she played Carrie, and she was 17. She was the youngest Carrie in history, a teenager who was faithful to the original work.

In the dream, the lively KeThe theater was about to award the Best Actress. The hazy black-haired male guest on the stage read out the list of nominations. He looked at the envelope and suddenly laughed: "The one who won the Oscar is!" The TV screen was divided into five frames, one of which  It was her sitting there, in her gorgeous evening gown, and then she woke up.

It would be great if I could get nominated.  The second youngest Oscar nominee for Best Actressthat made all the difference, what a life.

You will know today whether it will happen or not, and you will be able to read the reviews of the film critics today!

    ¡¡

"Weige, I'm sorry, the effect is not the same as I imagined." Kimberly sighed.

"There's nothing overtly wrong with it, it's just that it's wrong because of the old version of Carrie. You could have made it bolder and crazier, and this was too light, too little. But it's hard to blame you, the script just didn't do it  Well, the office has restrictions on you, so I can¡¯t blame you for building the building with a wrong blueprint.¡±

"Nina, that girl, works very hard. She deserves a better stage."

"Things haven't been decided yet, don't be so pessimistic, maybemaybe our self-requirements are too high, after all, it is still good."

    ¡¡

Nina is not the kind of person who doesn¡¯t dare to check the results of a new movie after its release and waits until the dust settles on the first week before watching it. She doesn¡¯t want to wait one more minute. The box office is the result, and the reviews are also the results. She must pay attention to it as soon as possible!  In this day and age, you don¡¯t need to buy newspapers and magazines from various places to read movie reviews, you can just go online.

In a mood of nervous anticipation, after spending a morning at school, Nina did not arrive at the cafeteria at noon. Nina rushed to the Internet area of ??the library alone with her laptop, found a quiet place to sit down, turned on the computer, and cpp ran on the cliff.  The tabletop by the lake in the park caught her eye, and she couldn't help but smile. She planned to rename cpp to Sissi.

Sissi, we will have good luck, we all will.

Nina prayed silently while opening the browser to check. She glanced around before opening anything. There were students reading and doing homework far away.  She clicked a few times, and her slightly rounded almond eyes read a movie review on the screen. After reading a few lines, her beautiful eyebrows knitted together and her lips murmured: "That's not true"

2/5 points, the film review written by Betsy Sharkey of the Los Angeles Times, the words gradually floated in a distorted way:

¡°¡®Carrie¡¯ should provide more raw materials in the hands of feminists. Instead, Pierce just made a remake rather than a redefinition.¡±,

"It's not that Carrie is a bad movie, it's not. Pierce used all the new-age technology and special effects to tell the story and showcase Carrie's superpowers; the writers also added cyberbullying, using  Cell phones and emerging social networks for broader bullying are bright spots, but still¡

Stephen King has created such a gripping and convincing fantasy about the difficulties of adolescent girls, especially when they don't understand that the drastic changes in their bodies make them already feel that they are freaks and unable to compete.  More intense.  I had expected Pierce (whose performance in 1999's trans-teenage traumatization Boys Don't Cry was so sharp and telling that it won Hillary Swank an Oscar) to find more to say about what has been going on since the '70s.  A different gender politics.  However, the film does nothing to break through De Palma's extraordinary brand and unique perspective on how to interpret "Carrie".  "

"I also look forward to Ye Wei (you know the film genius, he just became the youngest Oscar nominee for Best Director this year. He has a shocking performance in "The Exorcism Video", which is about the loss of young girls and the failure of redemption)  No show, I don't know exactly what he was involved in, but he clearly couldn't keep Pierce on the right track, and it wasn't even the terrifying power of confinement that made them feel like they were in De Palma's shadow.  and shaking with embarrassment.¡±

"All the actors and their performances largely live up to King's vision. While Nina Dobrev's portrayal of Carrie is no better handled than the old version, she also delivers on the awkwardness that pervades the film. This  The nimble young actress loses the excitement and fun she had in "The Exorcism Video," never allowing the audience to get to the depths of Carrie's heart, and everything is unconvincing."

"Except for a ridiculously sanitized ending, the new version of 'Carrie' doesn't really differ from the old version of 'Carrie' and loses everything they can, which is a shame."

    New-¡°carÈÕe¡±-is-not-that-different-from-old ¡°carÈÕe¡±.  and-lost-everything-they-can-lo-color, that-s-a-crying-shame.

    That-s-a-crying-shame

    crying-shame

    Shame

"I didn't cry, you cried, Betsy Sharkey, you are biased!  Who wants to compare with the old version? We have our own highlights And as you said, the new version's special effects are so much better. The video of Carrie making a fool of herself was posted online by a bad student. Isn't that cool? What does losing mean?  everything?  This is preconceived prejudice!  Am I embarrassed?  I don't care what you say.  "

Nina said angrily in her heart. She leaned against the chair and remained motionless for a while, until her right foot shook unconsciously a few times. She jerked her head and continued to check.

"Some people say it's good, and there will always be people who say it's bad. It's just one movie reviewjust two.

Claudia Pugh of "USA Today" gave it a score of 2/4: "Without providing new blood, the new version of "Carrie" is just a pure cosmetic renovation. It is based on Stephen King's best-selling 1974 film  The retelling of the novel American Horror Story is nothing inventive. If director Kimberly Pierce had brought out a charming feel like 1999's Boys Don't Cry, this remake might be worth watching, but Pierce's version lacks virtue.  -Palma's original version of today's nature turns out to feel like a pale imitation."

"Maybe because we've seen the old version from 30 years ago, the new version has more reason to adopt a different strategy. Using modern technology and special effects is not enough to make it better. Pierce should use more comedy style or more  Melancholy explores the destructive effects of social isolation and school bullying, punishing a mother by locking her daughter in a closet.

"It's really puzzling what role producer Ye Wei plays. This genius should understand that this won't work. His "Exorcist Video" can become a classic movie not because it is a remake of "The Exorcist"  ", but it uses a different mix of shooting strategies, social angles and character exploration to tell a new horror story, but the new version of "Carrie" is just a remake."

"Dubov is a talented new actress, but nowhere near the heights of Sissy Spacek. Because we all know how the movie goes and ends (and it doesn't offer any surprises), she's too tame.  The acting style and the positive energy released made the film appear unbearably slow and dull, turning it into a catastrophe that people hope will end as soon as possible. "

    Catastrophe?

    Who cares¡I can¡¯t even spell the word¡

It¡¯s just two film critics. They are both female film critics. The kind of old woman who is obsessed with the old version. Does straight hair count as a renovation?  You won't appreciate it, but many people will.

The air in the library seemed to be solidifying. Nina took a deep breath and suddenly raised her fist to hit the computer screen. That's not it, no!  This is a good movie. My mother and many people cried while watching it. Ye Wei also said it was very cool, unless was that just a comforting word?

"Hi, Carrie." "Carrie Dobrev." Several students passing by said hello.

Nina quickly clicked to close the webpage without saying a word in response. She waited until there was no one around again before slowly checking it again.  A fear has quietly creeped into my heart from the bottom of my heart, crushing those sweet dreams and smearing the coldness of wakefulness

Oscar?  The Golden Raspberry Awards are yours.

The reviews are so bad, and the box office is not much better.

The hand suddenly stopped, not daring to open the Rotten Tomatoes website where it can be seen at a glance, staring intently at the blank web page.

In the dead silence, for some reason, she vaguely heard a voice from the old version of "Carrie":

He will laugh at you, they will all laugh at you, he will laugh at you, they will all laugh at you, they will all laugh at you, they will all laugh at you, they will all laugh at you, they will all  Those who laugh at you, they will laugh at you

    ¡¡

"This isn't a movie, it's a parody, and it's downright depressing. The new Carrie is nothing more than a testament to how great the old Carrie was. I don't recommend you watch it, and definitely ignore it.  .¡±1/4, Janet Carter Solis, The New York Times

"The new version of "Carrie" just has no need to exist, a very poor commercial product that failed." d, Bob Longino, "The Atlanta Journal-Constitution"

"What are they thinking? Are we living in the 1960s? It's simply a sick fake. It shows despicable imitation and low-standard imagination at every turn. It's too bad." 1. 5/4, Peter  ¡ªHowell, Toronto Star

"Few movies can be as exciting as the new version of "Carrie." The result is disappointing. The only thing that can be seen is the pale and dry story and characters. The CGI special effects did not bring greater energy.  The teenage actors did not bring a better performance, and director Pierce did not give even a little thought, even if there was noCompared with the old, this is also a failure.  "1. 5/4, Anne Hornaday, "The Washington Post"

"We feel sorry for Nina Dobrev. It's hard to understand her performance of Carrie when Sissy Spacek is as stupid, pitiful and pitiable as Carrie. Spacek is even weirder.  , and even more embarrassing, a hurt look tells us that she is the ugly duckling who is attacked by teenage swans for granted, and Dobrev does not have an invisible "Kick me" sign on her back.  Inappropriately popular and lovable, there¡¯s so little clumsiness about her reading poetry in class and the book falling on the floor. It¡¯s like going to prom with the person you like, not the person you love.¡±0  . 5/4, Colin Covert, "Minneapolis Star Tribune"

¡°Lonely production, painful results, pig blood and all.¡± 1/4, Lou Rumnick, New York Post

"In the old version of the movie, when Carrie, played by Sissy Spacek, was doused with pig blood and started killing people indiscriminately, it was like the emotions that had been suppressed were finally released explosively; and the new version of Carrie is like suddenly  He was so angry that he lost control, and his behavior had already been premeditated and manipulated by the script. Comparison between the old and new versions is unfair and inevitable, but even in itself, people who watch Carrie's story for the first time will be disappointed.  It¡¯s hollow and disappointing.¡± c. Michael Rezizhafen, The Hollywood Reporter.

"The most disappointing horror movie of the year. The makers have done basically nothing but be stupid. How disappointing!" 1. 5/4 points, Wesley Morris, "The Boston Globe"

    "Carrie" freshness: 31%

They will all laugh at you, they will all laugh at you, they will all laugh at you, they will all laugh at you, they will all laugh at you, they will all laugh at you, they will all laugh at you, they will all laugh at you  Those who laugh at you, they will laugh at you

    ¡ù¡ù

[What happened to the new version of "Carrie" that we all don't know why, none of it seems to make sense, it has Kimberly Pierce (whose "Boys Don't Cry" was one of the best films of 1999, ever)  classic) director, it stars Nina Dobrev (who impressed as a poor girl tortured by demons in "The Exorcism Video") as Carrie, Julianne Moore as Carrie's mother, and its team also  There are many names to look forward to.

?????????????????????????????????????????????They gave us this, expecting to watch a fascinating and thought-provoking film, but instead we were soaked in pig blood.  All interest is lost in the first 20 minutes by how stupid, predictable and superficial it is (I would have preferred it to have talked about social pathology).  After reading it, you may ask me, what is the difference between the old and new versions?

As you know, Carrie is a high school student with telekinetic powers. She is abused by her mentally ill mother at home and bullied at school every day. She is targeted by the most popular girl and wants to be punished.  A popular girl gets her popular boyfriend to invite Carrie to prom, where Carrie is brutally treated and then exactly what happens happens.

Basically, there is another heroine named Carrie with the same name and surname, who has the exact same abilities, and then her story happens in the same story, with the exact same results.  The writers who wrote the script also receive a salary.  It's too generous to them.  If you ask me.

It is not heartbreaking or shocking at all. It has the horror props, horror soundtrack, horror scenes, horror special effects, and horrific bloody paintings that a horror movie should have, but it is just not scary.  It doesn't have scary characters, it just feels like a bunch of people acting out "we're the guys from Carrie" without ever truly understanding or showing the underlying fear of their characters.

Well, to be fair, Moore gave a good performance, and Dobrev, who is younger than Sissy Spacek, had her own ideas (all the student actors in the new version are more youthful and dynamic, probably to target teenagers watching  Choice Awards audience) but she was like driving a nail into a sponge, making people feel less powerful.

Although it is not entirely a parody, the almost identical story development is still disappointing.  This faithful adherence to the original didn't produce the same emotion, and Pierce committed numerous inaccuracies. She was severely acclimated and failed to bring out the sharpness and intelligence she had in "Boys Don't Cry."  In any case, I can't see that she has any real intention to express anything. It lacks true feelings and is only mediocre, exaggerated and casual.

Like the all-important prom scene, when Dobrev kills like a crappy dancer with her weird ritualistic moves, Pierce should have known that was just too much of a choreography and made the movie even more clumsy.  Fail, we've seen that trick in countless places, really, there were moments when I thought I was seeing a Force chokehold from Star Wars (even though Star Wars came later(The new version of "Carrie" came out a year later), and this kind of zaniness pervades this movie.  The old version is undoubtedly more natural and scary, and it's telepathic.

The old "Carrie" worked because it grafted a familiar teen drama onto a horrific ending, and of course because De Palma and his stars were emotionally convincing.  The new version of "Carrie" failed because it was 30 years too late and horribly bad.

By the way, I also want to ask, what has Ye Wei, the smartest filmmaker on earth, done?  Is he really the Unique Culler who made "The Exorcism Video"?  If it were him, how could he let these people create such a meaningless and pretentious piece of waste and still be involved in it.  The smartest thing about him this time is not to direct, avoiding using his weak ability to confront De Palma's extraordinary.

The heroine's motto in "Boys Don't Cry" is "I'm a man trapped in a woman's body." This applies to the new version of "Carrie." "I'm a man trapped in the original "Carrie."  "Retread Movie", disappointing, boring, pathetic.  ¡¿
