The time difference between Washington and Atura Island is nine hours.

When Atura Island swallowed four mushrooms on Independence Day in the United States, Washington time was still busy on the eve of Independence Day.

At seven o'clock in the evening on July 3rd, Washington time, President Dewey held a grand dinner in the White House to receive major giants from the domestic military industry in the United States. The guests and hosts were very happy.

Over the past few years, President Dewey¡¯s naval expansion plan to build ¡°the most powerful God-killing fleet in history¡± has benefited the most from domestic giants in the steel, shipbuilding, military and other industries.

The president convened these industrial representatives on the eve of National Day to gain their support.  After the Battle of Hokkaido, on the surface President Dewey wielded the nuclear stick and seemed to have unlimited glory, but in fact he was aware of his own suffering and felt guilty.

Privately, he said to his wife: "This is a big gamble, but I have already sat on the gambling table, and I no longer have the right to withdraw."

When he took over as president three years ago, Dewey had received intelligence that the Germans were developing an atomic bomb. As for the specific progress, he was not sure.

But one thing President Dewey knew very well was that it would not be long before the Germans developed the atomic bomb.  What's worse is that in the past few months, he has been receiving intelligence that Germany has been secretly cooperating with the Soviet Union on nuclear research in the past few years.  What makes President Dewey uneasy is that in recent years, Germany has obtained large amounts of uranium ore from overseas through various channels.

But President Dewey still has no idea about the progress of the nuclear projects between the Soviet Union and Germany.

The unknown is the scariest thing.

Once the Eurasian coalition forces also possess atomic bombs and use them in war, President Dewey will have a headache just thinking about what the war will be like.

At 8:30 in Washington time, when President Dewey was having "table talks" with domestic industrial giants, his secretary came over with a serious face, and then the president pulled aside.

From the serious expression on the other side, President Dewey immediately had a premonition that something big was going on.

    "What's going on?"

"More than an hour ago, Atura Island suddenly lost contact with the Admiralty. Until twenty-and-a-half minutes ago, one of our nearby destroyers desperately sent an emergency telegram to the Admiralty. They said that  I saw a huge rising sun in the direction of Atura! The light was very dazzling, it looked like "

The secretary glanced at the president, hesitated, and then said: "The atomic bomb exploded!"

    "Damn it!"

President Dewey cursed in his heart, and then he forced himself to calm down. He went back to the restaurant and excused himself to the guests, and then walked quickly to the President's Office in the White House.

There, the Secretary of State, who had received an emergency call from the Navy, was already waiting for him, and people from other places including the Navy and the Navy were also rushing over to deal with this emergency.

While waiting for someone, bad news kept coming.

Radio communications between Washington and the Pacific front were constantly disrupted by nuclear explosions that occurred every twenty minutes or so.  However, in the dark night, the fireball when an 80,000-ton atomic bomb explodes is so spectacular that it can be seen even from a hundred kilometers away.

From eight o'clock to ten o'clock, the President's Office continued to receive telegrams one after another that "another huge fireball suspected of a nuclear explosion has risen on Atura Island."  Due to poor communication and confusing intelligence sources, the exact number of fireballs that rose has not yet been determined. The only thing that is certain is that at least three nuclear explosions occurred on Atura Island.  (~^~)
