After the war, Saudi Arabia retired some of its equipment that it believed was no longer useful, and mainly retained American-made and Chinese-made weapons.  In 1990, the Saudis purchased more than 300 Nl tanks from the United States, with the main model being Nl. The Saudi Army also has a relatively large number of American-made weapons such as NU0 tanks and Nl13 armored personnel carriers.  Chinese-made weapons are mainly multi-functional infantry vehicles, tracked armored vehicles that have been upgraded to VNll level, E-l (formerly -0, E-self-propelled rocket launchers, etc.).

The French-made AN3 tanks originally purchased by Saudi Arabia in the 1970s performed poorly in the war, and compared with the Nl tanks, VT-IA, NHT26 and other tanks that were the first series of world army equipment at that time, the gap was very obvious, and even worse than those of Iraq.  Equipped NbT106 tank.  In fact, the American-made NU0 Patton tanks equipped by Saudi Arabia were also criticized by some army personnel after the war.

??In fact, nothing can be compared. Once compared, it will make people unable to do it.  If it wants to build the strongest army in the Gulf and face threats from Israel and Iran, Saudi Arabia must be willing to spend a lot of money to build a good armored force.  Moreover, after Saudi Arabia inquired about NORINCO, it was learned that the 2Umm caliber Allied version of the NHT206 Rhino 11 tank, which Saudi Arabia was very optimistic about during the war, was only priced at US$600,000, which was less than half the price of Nl sold to them by the Americans, but its combat effectiveness  Not inferior at all.

King Fahd personally gave instructions to sell all the hundreds of NU0 tanks and AN3 tanks in the army's hands to countries in need, and then ordered a batch of 60 NHT26 allied version tanks from China.  The deal includes weapons systems, spare parts and ammunition, plus training and other expenses, with a total value of $1 billion.  This transaction was not paid in advance, but in natural gas, which is relatively difficult to sell at the moment. Saudi Arabia will provide China with sufficient natural gas in the next three years. Qi Yiming will use this natural gas to supply domestic ordinary gas.  Household gas and gas head chemical industry.

By the way, Saudi Arabia has also purchased a lot of Feinu-6 anti-aircraft missiles, Red Arrow anti-armor missiles, etc. produced in China. Because the unit prices of these items are relatively low, Saudi Arabia believes that large reserves are cost-effective.

After the weapons were almost purchased, Saudi Arabia began to reorganize its own army under the guidance of Chinese instructors.

The propaganda effect of the Gulf War on Chinese weapons went far beyond these countries. Israel also submitted a letter of intent to China for the purchase of two sets of Red Flag long-range air defense missiles after the war. However, selling Israeli weapons involved a lot and caused a lot of international impact.  China is still doing a lot of work, and it remains to be seen whether a deal can be concluded in the end.

In Iraq, although the power entanglement between China and the United States has not been completely clarified, generally speaking, China has played a very important role in restoring order and construction in areas controlled by Shia Muslims in southern Iraq.  On the other hand, on the American side, what troubles them most is not only the unstable morale of the American soldiers, but also the fact that the Kurds are ready to promote the establishment of an independent country after Saddam was overthrown.

Obviously, the establishment of Kurdistan is absolutely not allowed. Even if the Americans agree and the Chinese acquiesce, it is absolutely impossible for Syria, Turkey and Iran, which have a large number of Kurdish residents, to sit back and watch this happen, because the Kurds in these countries are bound to live in concentrated communities.  The district council wants to be integrated into that Kurdistan, which is made up of Kurds.  Although a unified Kurdistan is also a Muslim country, looking at the conflicts between Persians and Arabs in Iran, it will definitely only intensify regional tensions.

"The Chinese-controlled area was earlier invaded by the Madman virus. Although tens of thousands of people died from the virus infection, after order was restored, most Iraqi Shiite Muslims returned to their hometowns.  Qi Yiming was also unequivocal and organized various business groups to go to southern Iraq to assist the local government in reconstruction work.

The projects assisted include various infrastructures, including running water, electricity, transportation, schools and medical institutions. Of course, the most essential ones are oil extraction facilities.  The southern region is an important oil-producing area in Iraq. It was severely damaged during the war. Now Iraq's national oil no longer exists, and the Chinese control this area. Obviously, the two giants, China National Petroleum Corporation and Sinopec, even the bidding process has failed.  Without doing so, they entered the oil field and began to lay out various facilities to resume oil production.

Naturally, this process cannot be made too ugly, so the Chinese company still hired officials from the interim government to "supervise" and share the profits from the oil extraction and sales.  After all, Iraq is now in dire straits, and the only source of funds that can provide it is oil. It is impossible for the Chinese to plunder all the oil here.

Politically, with the support of the Chinese, the Shiites in Iraq unified Wasit, Babylon, Karbala, Qadisiya, Maysan, Dhi Qar, Basra and other regions and established the  Southern District of Iraq.  This administrative division is temporary, but it also has obvious directionality, because this area is basically a Shiite area. Under the influence of China, the Shiites have basically achieved de facto independence here.

The Southern Special Administrative Region is not in a hurry to build its own military force.A large number of weapons and equipment of the Iraqi army collected by the United States have also been hoarded, and a small amount has been distributed to the security forces of the Southern District of Iraq who maintain social order.  These security forces are actually armed police, but they do not have overly heavy weapons. They mainly deal with thugs and counter-insurgents.

The most important defense here is naturally provided by the Chinese PLAi. After the war, China maintained approximately more than 10,000 soldiers in the Southern Special Administrative Region and Kuwait.  These troops are basically heavily armored and mechanized troops, and they are not allowed to carry out ordinary tasks. In fact, they are mainly to prevent Americans from the north from coming over to seize territory.

On the busy construction site, Mo Fashi wiped the sweat from his head. The Middle East was really difficult for him, a young man who lived by the sea and had a pleasant climate.  He is already 2 years old and is still single. When he first started working, he was not in a hurry to find a partner. However, in recent years, the Overseas Business Department of China Construction First Engineering Bureau, where he works, has begun to undertake large-scale overseas construction projects.  You may not be able to stay in the country for only a few days throughout the year.

The reconstruction work in the Southern Special Administrative Region of Iraq is heavy and political. Mo Fashi was sent here to serve as the project leader of municipal roads and transportation facilities.  Although he is not very old, he is proficient in business. More importantly, Mo Fashi is proficient in multiple languages, including half-baked Arabic, so he took the lead this time and held an important position.

There are many workers on his construction site who come from China like him. They all come as labor exporters. They will basically return home after the project is completed, and more of them are ordinary Iraqi workers temporarily recruited locally by China Construction First Engineering Bureau.  .  Due to the devastation of the war, most Iraqis lost their jobs and livelihoods. At this time, Chinese companies entered the Southern Special Administrative Region of Iraq in large numbers to take charge of the reconstruction work, so they attracted a large number of unemployed Iraqis to work. Although the wages were relatively meager, they would still be employed.  I thought a man could support his family, and there was plenty of food on the construction site. At least everyone had enough to eat while working here.

The Chinese are very accommodating. When they came to work in Iraq, the cooks on the construction site also specifically found domestic Hui people. The halal food they cooked was acceptable to the Iraqis, and the Chinese workers also ate it.  Moreover, Chinese workers are well-disciplined and will not cause any trouble. Things like drinking or molesting local women will never happen.  This also makes many Iraqis have a favorable impression of the Chinese, even though the Chinese are also responsible for destroying their homes.

Mo Fashi could feel the mentality of the simple Iraqis here who simply wanted to survive. They had not made any mistakes, but bad luck had befallen them. War and biochemical crises had made the people here become cautious.  I also cherish the days of stability and peace.

During the lunch break, Mo Fashi sat among a group of local Iraqi workers. An older Iraqi asked Mo Fashi worriedly: "Boss, this road will be repaired in another half month."  If it passes, the project will be over. What will we do then?¡±

His problem is also a concern for many Iraqi workers. Now a job is the guarantee that they and their families can survive, and there are not many job opportunities in desolate Iraq.

Mo Fashi put down the Arabic-style bread in his hand. He had been accustomed to the local food after coming here for several months. He said: "The construction of Highway B is completed, and we will continue to build Highway 2, all the way to Umm Qais."  Er, after Highway 2 is built, we still have other roads to build. Even if all roads are built, we will probably start a railway project from Basra to Baghdad, and even to Turkey or Iran.  . There are a lot of houses to be built in the cities here, hospitals and schools are also waiting to be built, sewer systems, drainage canals and the like. You have to know that building your own country is almost a headless task. "

Mo Fashi's words made several Iraqi workers feel at ease. He added: "Now you are still our temporary employees, but if your performance is very good, we will then assist the government in setting up your state-owned construction company. At that time, we will  Recommend good workers to work there, and it will be a contract with long-term labor protection, at least twenty years, and there will probably be insurance and other things."

??Everyone was even more excited when they heard it. If they could be employed for a long time and have a salary all the time, then their lives would obviously be better.  Mo Fashi naturally understands what kind of words can make these passive Iraqi workers full of energy. In fact, everyone in the world is the same. If you give them a hope, they will feel motivated.
