    In fact, rebellion and separatism in the Russian Federation are definitely not limited to Siberia and the Far East. The separatist sentiments in Tatarstan and Chechnya in Russia are by no means inferior to those in Siberia and the Far East.  Even judging from the enthusiasm for secession, the Chechens, who had many conflicts with the Russians and had different beliefs, were the most active in separatism after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

    But even during the Khrushchev era, the persecution of the Chechens was not that severe, but it was definitely not humane.  Chechens were second-class citizens of the Soviet Union, suffering from government suspicion and surveillance.  Chechen children cannot speak Chechen in school and can only go to school in Russian. They can only speak Chechen when they go home.  This is a system of cultural genocide. Although it may not be as fast as physical annihilation, it is more terrifying.  The Chechens hated this deeply. It was not until the Soviet Union continued to decline and was on the verge of destruction that they finally had a chance to breathe the air of freedom.
