At the same time, on the Western Front battlefield, pLAl was also flexing its muscles.

At 4 o'clock in the morning, the reconnaissance force of the French 6th Light Armored Division entered Iraq.  The main force of the Ace Division L13 Division from the PL Army's 3rd Group Army followed closely behind. With the support of the two brigades of the US 8th Airborne Division, it penetrated behind enemy lines, targeting the Salman small airport 130 kilometers away in Iraq.

Yan Chenghai, commander of the L13 Division, spoke at the mobilization of the whole division before the war: "The L13 Division came with the glory of the Long Live Army. Back then, we fought in North Korea and the US military was frightened. Today we are with the US military and let them see it.  We are stunned by our fierce offensive. This battle will bring out the majesty of the Long Live Army and the momentum of the Long Live Army. Any enemy in front of us is just a paper tiger, which can be broken with one poke."

A team with tradition, history and a glorious spirit can often produce more powerful combat power than an ordinary team.  After several organizational reforms involving Qi Yiming, the L13 Division is also a large-scale division-level force with 220,000 people.  It implements a relatively standard system of three brigades and four regiments, with three combined mechanized brigades of approximately 6,660 units, supplemented by armored regiments, artillery regiments, air defense regiments and army aviation regiments.  Each mechanized infantry brigade has three regiments, and each regiment has B4 mechanized infantry battalions. Each battalion is about 60 in size and equipped with 2 main battle tanks, wheeled or tracked infantry fighting vehicles, Dongfeng infantry fighting vehicles, and Dongfeng infantry fighting vehicles.  There are 10 Warrior anti-aircraft missile vehicles and 2 battalion-affiliated helicopters.

After the completion of this organizational reform, some people within the military even boasted that a combined mechanized infantry battalion under pLAR could confront at least one regiment of any country's army in the world head-on.

This war is an excellent opportunity to verify how strong the PLA synthetic army's combat effectiveness is after the organization reform.  (The 10th Division is a blue army unit. Its organization and training are similar to those of Western countries, so it has no guiding significance.)

When approaching the target Salman Small Airport, a combined mechanized infantry battalion under the L13 Division was the first to encounter the enemy. Part of the Iraqi 45th Mechanized Infantry Division blocked the way of the L13 Division.  A battle broke out immediately between the two sides. The Iraqi army was quite brave. After discovering the enemy, their T2 tank immediately turned on its power and tried to get closer to attack the enemy. However, their opponent was pLAR's ace land warfare weapon - the Type 99 main tank.  battle tank.

At a distance of 36 meters, it is like a sniper¡¯s precise point kill. With the assistance of laser sight and fire control, the 99 tank¡¯s hunting is as easy as child¡¯s play. The 2 tungsten-core armor-piercing bullets that came out of the barrel easily penetrated the front armor of the T2.  , and cause a fatal explosion. The design of the T2's automatic loading machine is not reasonable. The ammunition is just under the turret, so when the tank is defeated, there is a very high probability of causing a fatal explosion.

This is a completely two-level battle. The 99 tanks fired shells as if they were leisurely walking. It only took a few moments. When the Chinese tanks crossed the battlefield, they were surrounded by the remains of Iraqi tanks.  .  It's like a knight with great martial arts skills casually killed a few minions with a sword, and walked away without even being interested in taking another look.

After eliminating the advance of the Iraqi armored forces, the combined battalion of the 13th Division faced the fortification line deployed by the Iraqi army. The Iraqi armored forces still retained a certain number of tanks, but this time they did not stand out against the Type 99  In a life-and-death duel, he actually sacrificed his own mobility and hid in the fortifications to attack the Chinese troops.

Seeing this scene, the combined battalion did not attack rashly, but called the Army Aviation Unit of the L13 Division.  Three WZ-10 helicopters equipped with AKB10 missiles quickly arrived at the scene.  They fired rockets and anti-armor missiles into their airspace, but the air defense means prepared by the Iraqi army in this fortification were quite limited, with only a few anti-aircraft heavy machine guns firing into the sky.  The armed helicopter tilted its ammunition toward the fortifications, and it didn't take long to create a gap in the defense line. Taking this opportunity, the L13 Division's combined battalion immediately attacked, using the gap to attack from both sides, and finally wiped out all the Iraqi troops here.

It is worth mentioning that after the war situation was unfavorable, the Iraqi army did not have a strong desire to resist and surrendered one after another. In this battle alone, the L13 Division captured as many as 26 people.

At 2 o'clock in the afternoon, the L13 Division successfully captured Salman Airport without encountering any resistance as expected. This also protected the left flank of the entire multinational force's offensive. The L13 Division left a battalion to guard here and continued to attack northward.  .

The remaining two brigades of the US 8th Airborne Division followed up behind the PLAR 113th Division. Their mission was to clear the Iraqi army on a road leading to southern Iraq to ensure the safety of their own troops.  In the multinational force's offensive plan, this two-lane highway is called the "Texas Supply Line" and is intended to be used to transport troops, equipment and supplies to support the 18th Airborne Army's northward movement.

Also on the Western Front battlefield, at 6 a.m., the U.S. 10l Air Assault Division, with the support of the 18th Aviation Brigade of the 18th Airborne Corps, used its AH-64 and AH-l attack helicopters as cover, and used 6 VH6  and 40 CH4 transport helicopters to carry its 1st brigade, directly into the "Cobra" forward operating base about 140 kilometers deep in Iraq.  In this operation, the division dispatched a total of more than 30 helicopter sorties, which not only quickly and accurately transported 406 US officers and soldiers and their equipment into the target area, but also captured about 4 officers and soldiers of the 1st Battalion of the 8th Brigade of the Iraqi 49th Infantry Division.More than 00 people.  Of course, capturing all the officers and soldiers means that the other party surrendered without resistance.

The 10l Air Assault Division mainly transports troops by helicopter landing. Its equipment is relatively light, so the targets it chooses are not as hard-core as the 113th Division.  The two forces basically complement each other, and with the addition of the French 6th Light Division, the offensive on the Western Front is progressing smoothly.

At the beginning of the air assault operation, the combat support force of the 10th Air Assault Division dispatched a convoy of 700 vehicles of various types to the north along the "New Market" supply line built by the division's engineering troops in the desert.  to deliver necessary supplies to the Cobra forward operating base.  After seizing the "Cobra" forward operating base specified in the plan and filling the helicopter with fuel just delivered by the combat service unit, the division immediately advanced further north.  By dusk, the 10l Air Assault Division had penetrated about 20 kilometers into the Iraqi border, successfully cut off Iraq's Highway B and blocked the most important of the several roads connecting Baghdad and the Kuwait theater.

Due to the great success of the initial offensive of the Chinese 113th Mechanized Infantry Division, the French 6th Light Armored Division, and the U.S. 10l Air Assault Division, the U.S. 13th Mechanized Infantry Division crossed the offensive starting position about 6 hours in advance and tied up with a brigade.  Assault, the division's cavalry battalion conducts reconnaissance and cover operations in the front.  Since the launch of the attack, the division has advanced rapidly and its speed has remained above 40 kilometers per hour.  Due to the use of long-range electronic navigation systems, imaging intensifiers, night vision goggles, infrared and thermal imaging systems, and global positioning systems, as well as the weak resistance of the Iraqi army, the US Mechanized Infantry Division was still able to advance at high speed after nightfall.

The battlefields on the east and west fronts achieved great success. All units performed well, and the resistance of the Iraqi army was much weaker than expected. The commander of the Joint Operations Command, Schwarzkov, made a decision to launch the main attack on the center line in advance and carry out a large-scale campaign to the north.  Scale interspersed with action.

At about 1 o'clock in the afternoon, the 1st Mechanized Infantry Division of the US Army located on the center line began to open a passage through the complex area covered with barbed wire and mines. Like some friendly forces on the other two routes, they did not encounter any resistance from the Iraqi army.  When the division crossed the offensive starting line, the leading detachment of the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, which was on the left and guided the advance of the U.S. 2nd Armored Division, had penetrated more than 3 kilometers into Iraq.  It was only when night fell that the 1st Mechanized Infantry Division of the U.S. Army broke through the obstacle zone of the Iraqi Army. This progress made Schwarzkov quite dissatisfied. At this time, the engineering unit of the 2nd PLA Army took the initiative to request orders to go to the obstacle zone to assist the U.S. Army's 1st Mechanized Infantry Division.  l Mechanical infantry division clears the road.

? 2 The engineering troops directly under Pei carried a large number of construction machinery. For things such as barbed wire fences and horse-blocking roadblocks, engineering tanks with large shovels plowed forward and backward to solve the problem.  What surprised the U.S. military was that the equipment of the Chinese military engineers was so bizarre and so complete that it was unimaginable.

pLA even has a walking excavator that uses four wheels for normal travel, but can stand up on its rear wheels like a monster when needed to overcome obstacles.  This kind of thing doesn't have much benefit in the desert, but people with a discerning eye can immediately see how useful it is for cleaning up in mountains or complex ruins.

With the help of the 2 Pei engineering troops, the speed of clearing the obstacle areas suddenly increased.

In order to enable the British 1st Armored Division to attack in depth through its breakthrough, the US 1st Mechanized Division strengthened and adjusted its artillery deployment and made necessary coordination.  Later, as the British 1st Armored Division passed through the breach that night, the 7th Army ordered the rapidly advancing center line units to suspend their advance.

After the launch of Operation Desert Saber, the multinational forces did not give up air strikes. When faced with a large-scale ground offensive, the Iraqi army became even more nervous. The originally well-hidden Iraqi troops had to come out to assemble at this time to prepare for their defense.  And this gives the multinational air force an excellent opportunity to strike.

Attacking these assembled Iraqi troops will not only make their defense preparations more chaotic, but also cause greater psychological pressure on the Iraqi troops, making it easier for the Iraqi troops to collapse.

On the day when Operation Desert Saber started, it was the day when PL mobilized the most bombers for bombing.  Six H-6K strategic bombers and six H-6K medium-range bombers that took off from Kashgar Airport flew directly to the Persian Gulf region after an aerial refueling near Gwadar.  The Iraqi army's air defense force has been almost exhausted, so when a large group of bombers volleyed into the sky, the Iraqi army could only evade in a panic.

Not only bombers, but the navy on the sea also tried to launch a cruise missile offensive towards the Iraqi army assembly area under the guidance of forward drones and reconnaissance satellites. On this day alone, the navy launched thirty-four Changjian-15 missiles.  cruise missiles, the Iraqi army suffered a heavy blow.
