Text Chapter 484 Jingshan Tea Ceremony

Previous page        Return to Catalog        Next page

After walking out of the hall, Chao Yong's face darkened.  Literature Museum

The people serving in the palace were all Jiangnan women. Listening to the murmuring of Wu language, I couldn't help but think of Fang Baihua.

He led his troops south, but the beauty had already passed away.

The further south you go, the hotter the weather becomes.

The flowers and trees in Huzhou Yamen are still lush and lush, but Chao Yong's mood is waning.

As I was walking leisurely, I heard a report from the soldiers behind me: "Baron Tong Guan wants to see you."

Chao Yong stopped and turned around. He saw Tong Guan waiting in the distance and nodded to the soldiers to let him come over.

Tong Guan was already over sixty years old at this time, but he had been leading troops all year round. He had a very strong body, dark skin, and dozens of beards under his chin. He looked like a veteran on the battlefield, not like a eunuch in the palace.

When he arrived, Tong Guan bowed and said, "Tong Guan pays homage to the prince."

Chao Yong nodded and said, "Excuse me, what do you want?"

Tong Guan said cautiously: "There are currently three thousand soldiers and horses in the city who were the villain's former soldiers. They are all elites of the Western Army. It would be a pity if they were disarmed and returned to the field like other soldiers and horses. Therefore, the villain dared to ask the prince to continue to let them  Serving in the military.¡±

Chao Yong nodded and said: "I know this. In a few days, there will be recruitment in Zhejiang Road. If they are willing to continue serving in the army, they can apply."

Tong Guan originally wanted his soldiers to directly follow the prince to perform meritorious deeds, but when he heard what the prince said, he couldn't help but feel a little disappointed.  But he didn't dare to say any more, so he could only say: "Thank you, Prince, for your kindness."

Chao Yong nodded to Tong Guan and started walking aimlessly again.

In fact, Tong Guan came here not to fight for military power for himself. He was already sixty-seven years old this year, and he could be said to have been prominent for half his life. Cai Jing, Liang Shicheng and others who had been in power with him had all been beheaded by Daliang, but he not only escaped with his life  , and got a baron.  He didn't dare ask for more.

"It's just that he can't let go of the three thousand pro-army troops. These soldiers have followed him for many years and can do nothing but fight. If they are disarmed and return to the fields, they can only sit back and become bandits, and then be wiped out by Daliang officers and soldiers.  Therefore, I had to go through this journey, although it was just in exchange for the grace that allowed me to continue to apply for the army.  But it's not bad either.  Otherwise, the age of the soldiers has exceeded the range of Daliang's conscription and will not be able to participate in the conscription.

Some time ago, Daliang Dibao just announced the military system of Daliang. After three years of enlistment and retirement, only those with an official rank can continue to serve in the army. However, if retired soldiers are willing to join the army, they can join the army.  Each person is given 150 acres of fertile land on the border, which is 50 acres more than the common people on the border.

What we need to get close to now are Ningxia Road and Qinghai Road. Although these two roads are remote places for most people, they are not too far for people from the northwest.  They can't get land even if they go back to the northwest, so they might as well go to Ningxia Road and Qinghai Road.  If you don¡¯t know how to do farm work, you can learn it. As long as you have land, no Han people will starve to death.

Chao Yong walked aimlessly for a long time.  When I looked up, I saw Shi Bao and Fang Jie looking at him from a distance. It seemed they were looking for him, so I waved them over.

The two of them came over to see each other.  He looked embarrassed again.

Chao Yong also guessed something, waved his hand and said, "Tell me about it."

Shi Bao and Fang Jie looked at each other, and Shi Bao motioned for Fang Jie to start with Fang Baihua.  Fang Jie is still Chao Yong's junior, which is always easier to say.

"The Southern Song Dynasty has been destroyed. The prince is about to lead the troops to wipe out Lu Shinang. Although he has gathered 300,000 soldiers and horses in Muzhou, he is just a mantis mantis and will be wiped out by the prince. Lu Shinang killed his aunt,  The crime deserves death. But there are still some brothers in the religion who don¡¯t know the truth, so Brother Shi Bao and I want to tell them the truth so that they don¡¯t risk their own lives.¡±

Chao Yong nodded and said: "Okay, then you should be careful. They can be my officers and soldiers in Daliang, or they can be my people in Daliang, but from now on it is forbidden to spread Manichaeism, and violators will be killed without mercy."

    "yes"

The two of them also knew that there was no room for bargaining, so they resigned and left after receiving the order.

Chao Yong found that when dealing with things, he could temporarily forget his sadness, so he immediately asked someone to invite Zongze.

When Zongze came to the Yamen, Chao Yong was asking someone to make tea.

Huzhou's tea is very famous. Tea sage Lu Yu wrote the "Tea Classic" in Huzhou. The Guzhu purple bamboo shoots in Changxing County, Huzhou were rated as top-grade by Lu Yu and became a tribute tea of ??the Tang Dynasty.

Because the fresh tea buds and leaves are slightly purple, and the backs of the young leaves are curled like bamboo shoots, it is named purple bamboo shoots.  Because of the excellent quality of Guzhu Purple Bamboo Shoot Tea, it was selected by the imperial court as the tea used to offer sacrifices to the ancestral temple.  The royal family at that time stipulated that purple bamboo shoot tribute tea was divided into five grades. The first batch of tea must arrive in Chang'an before the "Qingming Festival" to offer sacrifices to the ancestral temple.  Because the time from germination, production to tribute was very tight, the first batch of tea delivered as tribute was called "urgent tea".

In the Song Dynasty, the temperature was a few degrees lower than in the Tang Dynasty, and the germination of Gu Zhu's purple bamboo shoots was also delayed, making it difficult for the first batch of tea to catch up with the Qingming Festival.  Therefore, the tribute tea of ??the Song Dynasty became the Jian'an tea further south.

After Zhao Zikai established the Puppet Song Dynasty, Jianzhou was occupied by Lu Shinang, and the tribute tea of ??the Puppet Song Dynasty became Gu Zhu Purple Bamboo Shoot Tea.

It can be seen that the tribute tea in the world is not necessarily the best, and the emperor has to make compromises due to the right time and place.

The Pseudo-Song Dynasty was not established for a long time, but Tong Guan served in the palace for decades, but he established many regulations in the palace in a decent manner, which was not comparable to the emperors such as Fang La and Tian Hu.  Even if Daliang captured Tokyo, because of Chao Gai's rough and arrogant temper, Daliang's etiquette system could not compare with the pseudo-Song Dynasty Fanzhi.

The tea is made from Guzhu purple bamboo shoots, but the method is still the same as Jian'an tea fighting method.

The custom of tea fighting in Jian'an can be traced back to the late Tang Dynasty. At first, tea farmers fought for tea. When Jian'an tea became tribute tea, tea fighting spread from the countryside of Jian'an to the capital. It was sought after by dignitaries, literati and poets, and then became popular all over the country.

Zhao Ji was particularly fond of the art of tea fighting and wrote 20 articles on "Daguan Tea Treatise". When he got interested, he cooked tea himself and gave it to the ministers.  , "Yanfu Palace Music Banquet Notes" are recorded.

For example, "Records of the Qu Banquet at Yanfu Palace" says: "In December of the second year of Xuanhe, Guiji summoned Prince Zhi and others to have a banquet at Yanfu Palace He ordered his attendants to get the tea set, pour the soup and whisk it with his own hands.  The surface of the cup was filled with white milk, like sparse stars and a pale moon. Gu Zhuchen said: "This is my tea."

The most famous of the Zen Forest Tea Banquets is the Jingshan Temple Tea Banquet.  Jingshan Temple is located in Jingshan, the remaining ridge of Tianmu Mountain. It was built in the Tang Dynasty. By the Song Dynasty, it was known as the "Crown of Zen Forests in the South of the Yangtze River" and a tea banquet was held every spring.  Drinking tea, discussing Buddhist scriptures, and discussing Buddhist principles have formed a set of rather exquisite etiquette.

Chao Yong didn¡¯t have a good impression of monks, but the one who performed the tea ceremony for him was a bald monk.

After Zhao Zicheng and Tong Guan decided to surrender, they tried their best to please Chao Yong. Their food, clothing, housing and transportation were carefully arranged. The people who cooked tea for the prince were monks specially invited from Jingshan Temple in Hangzhou.

When Zen Master Dahui, the abbot of Jingshan Temple, heard that he was making tea for Prince Daliang, he came to make tea himself regardless of his status.

Although they are monks.  But he can never truly become a monk.  Not only do you need to save yourself, but you also need to save others. It seems to be similar to the MLM method of making money by developing downlines. The more people you save, the more incense will be in the temple.  However, according to Buddhist legend, people can become Buddhas instantly.

Zhao Ji respected Taoism and named himself the leader of Taoism. He established Taoism, compiled "History of Taoism", appointed 26 Taoist ranks and 26 Taoist officials. He issued the "Imperial Commentary on Tao Te Ching" and ordered the Imperial College to appoint doctors of various Taoist classics.  Shenxiao Wanshou Palace was built in various places, and thousands of hectares of land were allocated in each place.

In recent years, with the support of Zhao Ji, Taoism has overwhelmed Buddhism.  Many temples are dilapidated, and the monks in the temples have either returned to secular life or become Taoist priests.  Anyway, the money given to the sesame oil for praying to Buddha and seeking Taoism is the same. Neither the Buddha nor the Taoist ancestors have the power to take away the sesame oil money. In the end, they are the ones who get the cheapest.  Since Taoism is very popular.  It doesn't matter if they convert to Taoism.

In the first year of Xuanhe, Zhao Ji directly ordered all the monks in the world to become Taoist priests.  The temple is directly converted into a Taoist temple. If you believe in Taoism, the bronze Buddha must be sent to the government.  It also dealt a huge blow to Buddhism. Although Jingshan Temple is the top of the Zen forests in the south of the Yangtze River, it is no exception.

The abbot, Zen Master Wuwei Weilin, received an official letter from the county government and was unwilling to convert to Taoism, but he did not dare to openly disobey the emperor's edict, otherwise the Buddha would not be able to protect him when the emperor wanted to behead him.  Legend has it that the eight heavenly dragons who protected the Buddha were unable to defeat the real dragon emperor.  It seems that the Buddha did not dare to use magic power to directly transform the real dragon emperor, and could only watch his followers lose their heads in the Buddhist world.  Maybe this is a test for believers, and it must be eighty-one difficult, but most monks don't have Sun Wukong to protect them, so they will die with one strike.  I don¡¯t know if someone who has not overcome any difficulty is qualified to go to the Western Paradise. Maybe he might even fall into hell.

The emperor gave him only two choices: faith or losing his head, but Zen Master Wuwei took the third way and summoned his disciples to see him off.  After everyone arrived, Fearless Weilin said a verse and passed away.

It¡¯s a sitting ceremony, not committing suicide out of fear of sin.

??Generally, committing suicide due to fear of crime requires poison, a dagger, etc. If you really don¡¯t have one at home, you can just find a rope.  If that doesn't work, you can only go outside, jump off a cliff, throw yourself into a well, etc.  But there is absolutely no need to sit in the posture. This is a Buddhist magical power. There is absolutely no need to take medicine, swallow gold or anything beforehand, and it does not necessarily have to be the end of life. Whenever you want to see the Buddha, just sit down and go.

Perhaps Zhao Ji was frightened by Zen Master Wuwei Weilin¡¯s incarnation, fearing that Zen Master Wuwei Weilin would invite the Buddha, so it didn¡¯t take long before he withdrew the edict for the monk to convert to Taoism.?

There was no need to change the temple to a Taoist temple, but Zen Master Wuwei Weilin could not come back, so Zen Master Dahui became the abbot of Jingshan Temple.

There is no master-disciple relationship between Zen Master Dahui and Wuwei Weilin. Jingshan Temple adopts the Shifang abbot system.  In the past, the abbotship of Jingshan was passed down from master to disciple. In the Song Dynasty, it was changed to the abbot system of ten directions, and eminent monks were selected from ten directions to serve as abbots.

Compared with the succession of masters and apprentices, the Shifang abbot system is more conducive to the court's management of temples.

The ten-direction abbot system of Jingshan Temple was advocated by the great poet Su Shi. When Su Shi was an official in Hangzhou, he went to Jingshan three times and considered himself a frequent visitor to Jingshan. He felt that the previous system had shortcomings, so he changed it to the ten-direction abbot system.  The first three generations of abbots of Shifang were all selected by Su Shi.

After Lu Zhishen passed away in Liuhe Temple in Water Margin, Song Jiang personally invited Zen Master Dahui, the abbot of Jingshan Temple, to bury Lu Zhishen, that is, cremated him, and the chanter was Zen Master Wushan Shisha.

In fact, there was no such thing as the Five Mountains and Ten Temples at this time. It was during Ningzong¡¯s reign in the Southern Song Dynasty that the hierarchy of Jiangnan Chanyuan was determined. The Five Mountains had the highest status, followed by the Ten Temples.

    Five mountains:

    1. Jingshan Temple Jingshan, Lin¡¯an County, Hangzhou

    2. Lingyin Temple Lingyin Mountain, Qiantang County, Hangzhou

    3. Jingci Temple Nanping Mountain, Qiantang County, Hangzhou

    4. Tiantong Temple, Tiantong Mountain, Yin County, Mingzhou

    5. Ashoka Temple, Ashoka Mountain, Yin County, Mingzhou

    ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

    1. Zhongtianzhu Temple, Qiantang County, Hangzhou

    2. Protector Wanshou Temple, Daochang Mountain, Wucheng County, Huzhou

    3. Taiping Xingguo Temple, Jiankang, Jiangshan, Shangyuan County

    4. Repaying Enlightenment Guangxiao Temple Wanshou Mountain in Wuxian County, Suzhou

    5. Xuedou Temple, Fenghua County, Mingzhou

    6. Jiangxin Temple, Yongjia County, Wenzhou

    7. Xuefeng Temple, Houguan County, Fuzhou

    8. Baolin Temple Yunhuang Mountain, Yiwu City, Zhejiang Province

    9. Lingyan Temple, Huqiu Mountain, Wuxian County, Suzhou

    10. Guoqing Temple, Tiantai Mountain, Tiantai County, Taizhou

The first of the Five Mountains and Ten Temples is Jingshan Temple. It was only after the decline of the Five Mountains and Ten Temples in the Ming Dynasty that the four famous Buddhist mountains flourished.  (Mount Wutai in Shanxi, Mount Putuo in Zhejiang, Mount Emei in Sichuan, and Mount Jiuhua in Anhui)

Jingshan Temple also had an abbot named Zen Master Dahui, but Dahui Zonggao only became the abbot of Jingshan Temple in the seventh year of Shaoxing, Emperor Gaozong of the Song Dynasty. When the two Song Dynasties alternated, Jingshan Temple was once used for other purposes.  Many monks in the temple are also scattered.  Under the governance of Zen Master Dahui, Jingshan Temple once again became the top of the Zen forests in the south of the Yangtze River.

Nine times out of ten, Zen Master Dahui in Water Margin is based on this Zen Master. However, at this time, Zen Master Dahui was still studying Buddhism with teachers everywhere.

(This book should be based on Zen Master Dahui in Water Margin, lest Zen Master Dahui come to save me at night. If the Immortality Sect suddenly appears in this book, it means I have been transferred, otherwise the Buddha will treat me as an ant)

When Daliang was established, Zhao Ji, the Taoist emperor and leader, naturally could not become the emperor. Without the emperor's position, there would be many Taoist priests with higher "Tao Xing" than Zhao Ji.  Who is willing to respect Zhao Ji as the leader of the army?  What's more, Zhao Ji has become a subjugated king, and Taoism is eager to expel him from Taoism.

After Daliang destroyed the Song Dynasty, it abolished all Taoist officials conferred by the Song Dynasty and ordered the demolition of the Shenxiao Wanshou Palace in various places.  Everyone in the world knows that the new emperor does not believe in Taoism.  Buddhist monks also want to transform this real dragon emperor and promote Buddhism.

The abbot of Xiangguo Temple in Tokyo asked to see Chao Gai many times, hoping to "transfer" Chao Gai. However, the territory of Daliang was increasing every moment, and affairs in various places were constantly happening. Chao Gai did not have time to talk in detail with the monks, let alone him.  There is also a son of a god who is invincible.  There is no need to ask the Buddha for anything.

The abbot of Xiangguo Temple could not convert the emperor, but the abbot of Jingshan Temple wanted to convert the prince.

Seeing that Prince Daliang had arrived in the south of the Yangtze River, Zen Master Dahui rushed over.

The Japanese tea ceremony originated from the Jingshan Tea Ceremony, and even the tea sets followed the Jianzhou Jian Kiln produced in the Song Dynasty.  Porcelain from kilns built in the Northern Song Dynasty and tea from Fujian were important commodities in trade with Japan.  In the Southern Song Dynasty, the firing technology of Jian'an black-glazed rabbit-hair tea sets was also introduced to Japan.  From now on, there will be no future. I have succeeded in learning skills from my master.  But it¡¯s been a long time.  The tea ceremony will still be lost to some extent, and they will fill in some procedures themselves.  Maybe I didn¡¯t learn everything at the beginning. In short, the Japanese also filled in some of it themselves, and finally it became the Japanese tea ceremony.

In the 16th year of Jiading in the Southern Song Dynasty, the Japanese Kato Shirozaemon came to China with Zen Master Dogen and studied ceramic firing for five or six years. After returning to Japan, he started a ceramics industry in Owari Owari and manufactured famous black-glazed vessels.  Until later generations, Japan still called this kind of ceramics "lazy household items", and Kato Shiro was called "Tao Zu".

While performing the tea ceremony of Jingshan Temple, Zen Master Dahui said: "Although Gu Zhu's purple bamboo shoots are also of the highest quality, the Song Dynasty did not use them as tribute. The picking and making of tea will no longer be strict in the future. If the picking and making are not done well, it will be difficult for the monk to order good tea no matter how careful he is.  If he had known that there was no good tea in Huzhou, the young monk would have brought some Jingshan tea from our temple to the prince.  The Jingshan tea in our temple has a history of nearly 400 years. During the Tang Dynasty, the first master of the founding state planted tea in Jingshan, offering tea to Buddha, entertaining guests with tea, and teaching Zen with tea.  Although I dare not say it is the best in the world, it can definitely be called the top grade.  During the Qingming Festival this year, the young monk also personally picked and made some tea leaves, and then used them as tea gifts from the Jingshan Mountain. It must be rare and good tea.  If the prince has time to visit Jingshan Temple, the young monk will personally cook tea for the prince.  "

Chao Yong smiled and said: "The military situation is urgent, I'm afraid I don't have time to bother you. Besides, I'm just a rough guy, and I can't appreciate the tea ceremony. In my opinion, as long as you have good tea, good water, and good tea sets, it will be easy to brew it."  Good tea. The abbot's tea ceremony should be something for elegant people to enjoy when they have nothing to do. I am a martial artist, and the abbot performed the tea ceremony for me, which is like playing the harp to the cow, burning the harp and cooking the crane. It's a waste."

In fact, Chao Yong really wanted to say that the tea ceremony was just for boring people to play in their spare time. If the performer for him was a beautiful woman, he might be in a mood to appreciate it, but Zhao Zicheng got him a man who he hated the most right now.  monk.

Watch a monk tinkering in front of you, and finally make a cup of tea.  Chao Yong really didn't feel any sense of beauty.

Seeing that the prince did not like the tea ceremony, Zen Master Dahui moved his hands a little faster and said with a smile: "The prince is too modest"

Chao Yong asked in confusion: "Doesn't Zen Master's tea ceremony require meditation?"

Zen Master Dahui was not a stupid person. Hearing that the prince thought he was noisy, in order not to offend the prince, he had no choice but to shut his mouth and concentrate on making tea.

After a while, Zen Master Dahui cooked a cup of tea. The soup was blue and white in color and the tea was fragrant.  The Jianzhou black cup is used to serve tea. Because the color of the tea is determined first, the best color of the soup is pure white, followed by green-white, gray-white, and yellow-white.  In order to distinguish black and white, people at that time loved to use black lamps, and the best black lamp was the Jianzhou rabbit hair lamp, which was cyanotic in color, with grains like rabbit hairs, and its base was slightly thick.

Zen Master Dahui shook his head and said: "If you use the Jingshan tea I made by myself, you will be able to make a pure white soup."

Chao Yong picked up the rabbit cup, took a sip, nodded and said: "Good tea, no matter how good it is, I can only taste it to know that it is good tea, but I can't taste the pros and cons."

The two of them talked for a few more words, and then the guards outside came to report to Zongze for an audience.

Chao Yong nodded to Zen Master Dahui and said, "Thank you, Zen Master. Tomorrow I will lead my troops south to Hangzhou. I will ask someone to send Zen Master back to the mountain later."

Hearing this, Zen Master Dahui hurriedly said: "The young monk is also going to Hangzhou. I wonder if you are lucky enough to go with the prince?"

Chao Yong also knew what Zen Master Dahui had in mind, so he shook his head and refused: "You are not allowed to bring irrelevant people with you during the march."

Seeing what Chao Yong said, Zen Master Dahui had no choice but to resign.
