Volume 1: The Arms Dealer¡¯s Feast Chapter 214: Recovering Taiwan (Part 1)

The Jin-Sui Army, as its name suggests, is the army stationed in Shanxi and Suiyuan.  Now that Suiyuan was taken out of Yan Xishan's hand, it was presumably the central government's condition for rescuing Yan Xishan at that time.  Although everyone will still call Yan Xishan's troops the Jin-Sui Army in the future, they are actually the Jin Army.

The Japanese invaders from the north and the Tsarist Russian invaders temporarily retreated deep into the Mongolian grasslands, and the Nanjing Central Committee also seized the time to lay out a plan to recover Taiwan.

Since ancient times, Kinmen and Xiamen have been the gateway to Taiwan. Nowadays, both Kinmen and Xiamen are under the control of Nanjing.  The little Japanese navy can't even get out of the Sea of ??Japan, let alone patrol Taiwan.  The matter of recovering Taiwan is already half done.

It is for this reason that the landing force is the top priority.  The discussion went back and forth, and the final plan was also surprising: based on the reorganization of the 89th Division, mixed with the Tang Enbo Division of the Second Tax Police Regiment to form the reorganized 13th Army as the first landing echelon - Tang Enbo was appointed commander.  , while Zhang Fakui's reorganized Fourth Army was the second echelon of landing, and Chen Cheng's reorganized 18th Army was the third echelon.

This plan is also in line with the wishes of the principal. The first, second and third echelons are indeed the backbone of the Central Army.  But even if the first echelon of the landing field was lost, it would only be the loss of one reorganization division, which Nanjing could not afford to lose.  As for the second and third echelons - if the first echelon does not successfully open a landing site, there will be no second and third echelons.

In order to cooperate with the landing plan, the Nanjing government used the advance payment of agricultural taxes from Jinbatian to buy 500 small landing craft, 200 medium landing craft and 50 large landing craft - among which the large landing craft were prepared for the landing of tanks and artillery troops.  .

A small landing craft with a displacement of 20 tons can carry a platoon of personnel and supplies with a maximum range of 100 nautical miles. A medium-sized landing craft with a displacement of 100 tons can carry a company of personnel and supplies with a maximum range of 200 nautical miles.  A large landing craft with a displacement of 500 tons can carry about ten light tanks or an equivalent number of armored vehicles and related supplies, with a maximum range of one thousand nautical miles.

Prior to this, the Navy had sent ships, mainly cruisers and destroyers, to conduct shelling around the island from Taipei to Kaohsiung, trying to find or open gaps in the defenses.  The Central Air Force in Nanjing sent a detachment to Fujian, and as long as the weather was clear, it took off twice a day to bomb coastal defense positions across Taiwan.

It was mid-October and the typhoon season in Fujian, Taiwan and other places was over. If the landing troops were to land in the early morning months, the biggest enemy might be nature - there is no satellite weather forecast in this era, and the weather predictions all rely on some atmospheric pressure and humidity.  Metrics and experience.

The original reorganized 89th Division was both happy and uneasy. The former squad deputy was promoted to squad leader, and the squad leader was promoted to platoon commander. The platoon commander was promoted to company commander - everyone was promoted one or two levels before the war, and even ordinary soldiers were promoted to the middle level one after another.  Corporal, everyone also understands that this is a treatment that can only be given before a big and fierce battle.

Before the war, all personal weapons were replaced with nine-shot box cannons and later twenty-shot box cannons. In short, in one word - armed to the teeth.  After the Second General Regiment of the Tax Police was added, the airs of reorganizing the Thirteenth Army were also raised. The previous three reorganized brigades were reorganized into the 89th Division, the 200th Division and the 201st Division respectively.  There is no shortage of armored regiments in the military artillery brigade, but Tang Enbo doesn't know whether it is better to transport these heavy equipment in the first batch or in the last batch.

That's right, even though Nanjing bought hundreds of large, medium and small landing ships, it can only transport more than 40,000 troops at a time. If the number of artillery tanks and chariots transported is larger, it can only transport two or three at a time.  Thousands of people - a medium-sized landing craft can also deliver two tanks or armored vehicles.

Based on the existing amphibious landing craft transport capacity, Tang Enbo calculated that it would take three times to transport all the personnel, and it would take three more transports for heavy equipment and supplies.  The speed of the amphibious landing craft is only equivalent to 20 kilometers per hour, and the shortest distance to the Taiwan Strait is about 100 kilometers.

It will take at least 12 hours to go back and forth once, including loading and unloading people and cargo. If everything goes smoothly, it will take 72 hours to reorganize the 13th Army to land on the island. But this is almost impossible. Seventy-two hours is three hours.  As for Tian Sanye, the Japanese on the island must have noticed it no matter how careless they were.

The efficiency of opening a landing site while fighting seems to be much lower. In the end, Tang Enbo's plan was to land the entire army on the island in seven days, but there was another condition: the naval and air force fire support could not be stopped during these seven days - it would even be used in emergencies.  Bombers airdropped supplies to the troops landing on the island.

This is the first island landing operation under the jurisdiction of the Nanjing government. No matter how detailed the preparations are, it is correct. A group of national generals have already shouted out the bold words of regaining the three northeastern provinces and landing on Honshu Island.  It's just that it's a bit more difficult to regain the three eastern provinces. Not counting the Tsarist Russian troops, the little devils alone deployed two million Kwantung Army troops in the three eastern provinces.

The number of the Central Military Forces now is less than 2 million, including direct descendants and vassals.  Of course, the equipment of the direct Central Army is now two levels higher than that of the Little Devils, and the equipment level of the collateral Central Army is also one level or higher than that of the Little Devils. If we can keep the balance, we can fight with less and more, but we can't send out all the Central Army to recover the three eastern provinces at once - we are really anxious, but there are still a million old men behind us. Heilongjiang is now under the control of the Three Kingdoms.  , only recovering two provinces is nothing.

As long as the little devil shouts that the interests of the three eastern provinces of Japan, Russia and Russia are equally shared, the greedy old man will immediately dare to send troops from the Far East.  More than three million Japanese-Russian allied forces entering the customs are enough.

On October 11, 1935, the 89th Reorganized Division, which had just eaten Mid-Autumn moon cakes for a few days, took seasickness medicine as the vanguard of the first echelon and boarded the landing ship in the early morning of that day.

After nearly six hours of rough seas, the first batch of landing craft rushed to the beach between Hsinchu City and Taipei City and lowered their front decks on the shore.  What was shown here to the soldiers of the 89th Division was not a normal beach, but a charred black beach after the fire.

The officers knew what was going on here in advance, kicked the soldiers' butts with their riding boots and said, "Hurry up and get ashore. This place was blown up by incendiary bombs by the air force brothers yesterday. It is safe for now."

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? out but no matter how good or hidden the shore defenses are, they can't withstand the intense heat and hypoxia suffocation caused by a large number of incendiary bombs that burn out the oxygen.

The officers and soldiers of the 89th Division jumped into the knee-deep water with their guns in hand, shouting: "Long live our Air Force brothers." They ran towards the shore or even deeper to establish landing sites.

Tang Enbo¡¯s plan is to transport soldiers and light weapons and supplies to the beach to open a landing site as much as possible before the Japanese react. After the Japanese react, heavy weapons and equipment will appear.

Before the landing craft troops returned to Fujian, the little devils in Hsinchu and Taipei had already received the news.  The current Japanese army in Taiwan is only equivalent to a second-class division, less than 20,000 people.  But including the police force, etc., there are more than 50,000 real Japanese.  Recently, in order to strengthen the defense force of Taiwan Island, the Taiwanese Japs have expanded the police force into five second-class divisions. This has also included a large number of local Taiwanese Japs who have received imperial education since childhood and immigrant reservists from the Japs' own island.  Once you say it, 100,000 troops can be quite bluffing.

However, the hastily formed troops were faced with many difficulties and could not receive support from the island for a long time. These 100,000 Japanese and Japanese soldiers were not even equipped with one of the standard rifles of the 38-gun army, let alone strategic artillery.  Supplies.

Therefore, not only did the newly formed five divisions not have an artillery system, even the rifles were used by two or three people in turns - this trick was learned during the First World War with Tsarist Russia, when the Tsarist Russian army was expanding its military force.  In many units, soldiers in a squad take turns using one or two rifles.

I have to say here that during World War I, the Tsarist Russian troops on the Western Front were really trying to make a fool of themselves. They were clearly in the age of machine guns and artillery, but they actually let the German and Austrian allied forces make dumplings.  Of course, this is not entirely the fault of the Tsarist Russian soldiers. In the trenches, you could only eat hard bread mixed with one-third of the sawdust every day (winter is definitely harder than stone, and there are records of people being beaten to death), and you could eat it for several months or even longer.  People with fighting prowess like Bruce Lee have to kneel down.

These days, since the Central Army is preparing to land in Taiwan, the coastal defense positions are like running rabbits. As long as there are warships of the Central Army and Navy nearby, they will fire them with artillery. In the past two days, the Air Force has used large-scale incendiary bombs to attack the beachhead, which is life-threatening.  The toughest little Japs were burned or suffocated to death in the fortifications.

This little devil waited until the 89th Division had initially established a landing site several kilometers deep before he realized that a landing was really coming.

Regardless of the real or second devils here, they have been deeply poisoned by the emperor's education. Their belief that they are invincible under the inspiration of the emperor has been engraved in their bones - this is also consistent with the fact that the news here is not smooth.  It didn't matter whether the newspapers reported good news or bad news. They didn't know that the Japanese had almost vomited out the territory they had swallowed after losing several battles in succession.

The Japanese in Taipei and Hsinchu quickly gathered their troops and headed towards the landing site.

Seeing the Japanese wearing only crotch cloth and a menstrual belt on their heads and preparing to charge in the human wave, Dai Anlan, the commander of the 89th Division (actually I am very cute as Chu Yunfei) shouted on the walkie-talkie: "Request naval gun  Fire in support and hit me hard."

"Boom, boom, boom" Forty-eight 203mm naval guns of six heavy cruisers successively emitted fire and the sound of cannons was heard. The heavy artillery shells blew the assembled little devils into pieces and flew to the sky and fell again. Even those who were a little farther away were not captured.  He was hit directly by shrapnel and explosives and was shocked to the point where his orifices bled and his internal organs were injured.

Dai Anlan said to the following: "Tell the officers and soldiers below that we must persist at least at night to wait for supplies, so I can save some time."

Well, I really need to be more sparing this time.  The average soldier only carries 500 rounds of rifle ammunition and 100 pistol rounds - this amount is about two base numbers.  A thousand rounds of ammunition for a light machine gun, a heavy machine gunThe gun can only carry 5,000 rounds of ammunition, and each 60 mortar carries two boxes of 50 rounds in total. The good news is that none of the heavier artillery landed this time with all the light equipment.  If we really follow Zhang Zhizhong's example and splash out bullets like water, we will have to fight with bayonets before night.

It¡¯s not easy for soldiers. In addition to carrying some bullets, each person must carry a few grenades, rifles and grenades. In such a damp place, what can we do without blankets and raincoats?  You must bring three days' worth of dry food, otherwise you can still count on the little devils to provide food and labor for the army. Water is also indispensable. Although there is water around here, the sea water is not drinkable.  All added up, the average landing soldier weighs seventy or eighty pounds.  (To be continued.
