In the Imperial Palace, four staff members of the Japan Broadcasting Association who recorded the emperor's announcement of surrender have been waiting there since the afternoon.  Otaro Arakawa, technical director of the Japan Broadcasting Association, has arranged equipment in the room on the second floor.  In the past, His Majesty the Emperor's voice had only been recorded once, when China and Japan signed the Shanghai Peace Treaty in 1928. When the young Emperor read the edict to the army, the Japan Broadcasting Association's microphone accidentally recorded him fifty yards away.  the sound of.

At 11:30 p.m., the emperor was escorted to the microphone.  Behind the microphone is a two-fold gold foil screen.  Aide Toda Yasuhide, whose voice somewhat resembles that of the Emperor, spoke a few words into the microphone so that technicians could adjust the sound effects for the recording of His Majesty's speech.

¡°How loud should I speak?¡± asked the Emperor.  Shimomura, the intelligence agency president, said using his normal speaking voice - which is already high - was enough.  But as the emperor spoke in his unique royal language, he unconsciously muffled the noise:

Letter to loyal and good subjects

¡°After observing the general trend of the world and the current situation of the empire, I decided to take extraordinary measures to clean up the situation.

The imperial government has been ordered to inform the governments of the four countries including the Chinese Empire that our empire accepts the conditions of their joint declaration.

The subjects of the empire are in good health, and all nations are prosperous and happy together. This is the legacy of the emperor and the emperor, and I will always keep it in mind.

"It is true that I have declared war on Britain and the United States, and on China. The reason for this is for the self-preservation of the empire and the pursuit of stability in East Asia. It is by no means an infringement of other countries' sovereignty or territorial expansion.  But the war has been going on for nearly four years now, despite the best efforts of the people of the country - the soldiers of the land and sea fought bravely, and the officials worked hard to govern.  One hundred million people have sacrificed themselves and served the public good - but the development of the war situation may not be beneficial to Japan, and the general trend of the world is not good for us. What's more, the enemy has used a new type of cruel bombs, causing misery to innocent people, and its destructive power is extremely difficult to estimate.

If we insist on continuing the war, not only will the Japanese nation be destroyed, but human civilization will also be destroyed.  If this is the case, how can I save billions of innocent children from water and fire, and how can I comfort the spirit of the emperor's ancestors?  This is why I order the Imperial Government to accept the Joint Declaration.

I express my deepest regret for the East Asian allies who worked closely with the Empire to liberate East Asia.  Every time I think of the officers and soldiers who died on the battlefield and others who lost their lives in the line of duty.  Every time I think of those who died unexpectedly and their families.  I am heartbroken day and night, crying sadly.

I am deeply concerned about the welfare of the wounded, victims of war, homeless people and those who have lost their livelihood.  The future sufferings of the empire will be unspeakable, and I am well aware of the feelings of your subjects.  However.  Fortune is what it takes.  I plan for peace.  Even the ninja who can't bear it endures it, and the person who can't bear it also suffers it.

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????Out of the sincerity of your subjects, the empire can be maintained.  So that I and my loyal and good subjects can live together forever.  You must not be sad and impulsive, and do not make the situation more complicated. Compatriots must not exclude each other, causing confusion, going astray, and losing confidence in the world.

Generation after generation, the whole country is united and firmly believes that our country will never be destroyed.  The empire still has a long way to go.  Our people are working together to build a better future.  Open up the path of justice, cultivate a noble spirit, work hard, keep pace with the world, and carry forward the inherent glory of the empire.  "

Hirohito turned around and asked, "Is this okay?" A technician in the next room said sheepishly, "I'm sorry, a few words are not clear."  Knowing that he had stuttered several times and that he was becoming more and more interested in the recording process, the Emperor said that he wanted to re-record it.  This time, his pitch was too high and he missed a word.  "I want to record it again."  he said politely.  But the technician decided it was "too hard work" for him and did not re-record it.

As a result, it was decided to use the second recording as the official recording and keep the first recording as a backup.  The two sets of recordings, each consisting of two ten-inch records, were carefully placed in two cardboard boxes, inside a kapok bag that someone found in the room.

The question now is: Where is the safest place to store the record? The obvious place - the radio station - is unreliable. If the rumored rebellion is true, it is safer to put it in the palace.  That way, the records could be locked in a small safe on the second floor.

It is appropriate to take these precautions.  At that time, the rebels were about to blockade the palace and isolate it from the outside world.  A general has been assassinated.

After being reprimanded by the Ministry of War, Denaka went to see Colonel Hoga Toyojiro, captain of the Second Company of the Guards Division.  Tian Zhongzhitian swore that generals Anan, Umezu, Tanaka and Mori had all participated in the conspiracy, and Fanghe reluctantly agreed to support it.

After that, Denaka rode his bicycle back to Ichigaya and woke up Lieutenant Commander Ida - many officers had spent the night at the War Ministry in the past week.

Tianzhong boasted about his background and said: "All the regimental commanders of the Guards Division have promised to support us: the only one who needs to be persuaded is the division commander."

He didn¡¯t believe that division commander Mori would listen to him, but Ida was a lieutenant colonel, so Mori might listen to Ida.  Tianzhong vowed that if Sen refused to participate, he would give up.A plan.

For the purpose of the rebellion, Ida still supported it, and he convinced himself to work with Tian **.  If Lieutenant General Mori can be persuaded to join them, he said to himself, "That will prove that we are right." Also, if trouble occurs, I, Ida, can always stop it.

The two rode bicycles through the dark streets and arrived at the Guards Division barracks, which was located outside the palace and only a few hundred meters away from the imperial library.  Due to a flat tire on their bicycle, the two of them arrived at the barracks at 11 pm, and Lieutenant General Mori happened to go out for a night check.  After Mori came back, they had no choice but to wait in the duty room because General Mori's brother-in-law, Lieutenant Colonel Shiraishi Tomoyoshi, arrived.

Shortly after midnight, Tian Zhong stood up impatiently.  "Let's go in and see Mori," he said, "don't worry about him having guests!" Ida followed him to the general's office.  When he reached the door, Dian Zhong stopped. "You go in alone," he said.  At the same time, Tianzhong himself tried to mobilize Lieutenant Colonel Takeshita to help convince his brother-in-law Anan Riku.  As soon as Tianzhong left, Ida was very angry and almost wanted to go back to the Ministry of War.  But Ida knocked on the door and walked in.

That afternoon, Lieutenant General Mori reprimanded the two generals in the base camp for being responsible for the failure of the war.  As soon as Ida came in, Mori greeted him warmly.  Without asking where Ida came from, he began to talk about philosophy of life and religion.

Mori talked for half an hour before Ida found a suitable opening.  He said.  A loyal Japanese usually obeys any order from the emperor, and this obedience is a virtue.  But today, it is the duty of loyal subjects to advise the Emperor and ask him to reconsider his decision.  "Blindly obeying the emperor is not true loyalty." When Mori first listened to him, he felt uneasy, but he gradually became interested.

Ida chased after him.  "If you absolutely believe that China can guarantee the maintenance of the national system, then obey the Emperor. If you are not sure, won't you stop His Majesty the Emperor?" However, unless the recording of the Emperor's speech is captured.  Otherwise it will be too late.  He urged Sen to mobilize the Guards Division immediately.

"I'm not sure what to do." Mori said, hesitating in his heart, "I want to go to Meiji Shrine to wash away my impure thoughts. Then I can find someone who can tell me who is right - you or me."

Lieutenant General Mori¡¯s chief of staff, Colonel Mizutani, walked in at this time.  "You came just in time." Sen said.  He turned to Ida - who was sweating profusely with nervousness - and said, "Ask him what he thinks."

Mizutani suggested that they go to his office to talk and let the general change his clothes and go to the shrine.  They met Major Tianzhong in the corridor - because of his persuasion.  Lieutenant Commander Takeshita has agreed to meet Anan again - and several of the conspirators.

Ida said that he and General Mori were going to Meiji Shrine, but he had to talk to Colonel Mizutani for a few minutes first.

¡°This is all a waste of time:¡± Dianzhong shouted angrily.

It won¡¯t be long!  Ida said.  He asked Tian Zhong to wait for him in Sen's office.

However, Tianzhong did not want to waste time.  His impatience had driven him to the point of despair.  In fact, he had planned to kill Sen if Sen refused them.  He strode into Sen's office, followed by several aggressive conspiracy sympathizers.

????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????¡  But Sen didn't want to act hastily. He could only decide after going to the shrine.

His procrastination was intolerable.  Captain Jutaro Uehara of the Army Aviation Academy drew his saber and walked up to him.  Lieutenant Commander Shiraishi rushed forward to protect his brother-in-law, General Sen.  Uehara cut him down with a single blow.

Another rebellious officer struck Bai Shier viciously, almost decapitating his head.  Uehara's dissatisfaction that had been simmering for many days suddenly burst out and he attacked with a knife.  Tianzhong took out his pistol, pointed it at Lieutenant General Sen, and pulled the trigger.  The commander of the Guards Division immediately fell to death in a pool of blood.

Ida and Mizutani heard gunshots and clattering footsteps, so they ran to the corridor.  Tianzhong stood there with a pistol in his hand, his expression ugly, and Ida immediately guessed the whole story.  "Baggaru!" he shouted.  Why can't Tianzhong wait?  After Mori has been to Meiji Shrine, he may join us!

"I did this because I ran out of time," Yanzhong murmured, "I'm sorry." He lowered his head, but his determination did not waver at all.  He asked Ida to appeal to General Tanaka again.  With Mori dead, the Guards Division was now under his command.

The purpose of Ida reluctantly accompanying Denizhong to the Guards Division was to prevent violence. Now that the worst thing has happened, he has actually become an accomplice of the murderer.  things.

With Mori dead, the serious opposition to the coup within the Guards Division was eliminated, and the division's troops were soon able to occupy the palace.  Ida was accompanied by Colonel Mizutani who was almost hysterical.?, and quickly took a car to the first building, the headquarters of the Eastern Military District.

Mizutani rushed into Tanaka's office, but Ida didn't mention that Mori was dead, and asked Tanaka's chief of staff, Major General Tatsuhiko Takajiro, to cooperate with the rebels.  Takato's reaction was almost embarrassing - he said it was like "falling out of a pit of fire and then into an ice cave" - ??and Ida's easy confidence evaporated.

The phone rings.  This is a call from Tojo's son-in-law, Major Koga.  He reported that the Guards Division had just rebelled and would never surrender.  The Eastern Military District must join them.  Major General Gaojiu turned around and walked into Tanaka's private room, asking a staff officer to continue the debate with Ida.

The staff said that there was no possibility that General Tanaka would oppose the emperor.  The staff officer's conviction brought Ida back to reality.  He said calmly, "I will do my best to withdraw the troops before dawn."

Orders have been issued to the regiment commanders of the Guards Division - the orders are stamped with Sen's seal, but they are stamped by Tianzhong.  The order was actually written by Major Koga, and it directed troops to occupy the Imperial Palace, "protect" the emperor and the national body, and send a small team to occupy the NHK building.  Control broadcast.

The total number of troops besieging the palace reached more than a thousand.  Just like during the "February 26" rebellion, most officers and soldiers did not know that they were rebelling.  From the outside, it appears to be nothing more than an urgent reinforcement of the standing guard force.  Within minutes all the palace gates were closed, cutting off the emperor from the outside world.

No one, regardless of their position, is allowed to leave the palace without Denaka's order. In the Imperial Palace, the emperor has finished recording, and President Shimomura and the staff of the Japan Broadcasting Association left in a car.  When the car reached the Banishita Gate less than a hundred meters away, soldiers with bayonets on them stopped them.

A soldier actually poked his head into the car.  He was ordered to search for the president of the Intelligence Bureau.  President Shimomura¡¯s secretary admitted her identity.  All were taken to a guard cabin and questioned.  Someone inside revealed that the recording had been given to an attendant for safekeeping.  As a result, a search team was sent to search the Imperial Palace.

Kido sleeps on the fourth floor of the palace.  Attendant Toda Yasuhide hurriedly woke him up.  The interior minister was already half asleep due to the variety of noises - air-raid sirens, distant bomb blasts, loudspeakers in the hall reporting damage, and, not long ago, marching footsteps on the gravel.  Half awake state.

Toda reported to him that the rebels had entered the building and were searching for Kido himself and the recording.  Yuwenku has been surrounded.  Kido remained calm.  "I had expected something like this to happen," he said.  "The Army is damn stupid."

Since few people outside the palace knew Kido, Toda suggested that he go to the night duty room of the Imperial Palace Physician, where he could pretend to be a doctor.  Kido just lay down on the doctor's bed.  He thought about how embarrassing it would be to be killed while hiding like Gu Liang in Forty-Seven Ronin. He returned to his office, hurriedly collected the top-secret documents, tore them into pieces, and threw them in the toilet with water.  Rush down,

Another person came to ask him to take shelter.  This time, Attendant Tokugawa Yoshihiro asked him to hide in the basement warehouse.  The sound of soldiers' boots could be heard in the corridor.  Kido had no choice but to let his attendants lead him down the dark stairs.

The attendant Toda thought that Kido was safely in the doctor's room, so he walked to the Imperial Library to alert the courtiers - because the phone lines had been cut off.  He was afraid that the shortcut - a small tunnel - would be guarded, so he took a detour to Yuwenku.  Five or six people flashed out of the darkness.  Toda explained that he was a retainer, but the commander didn't believe him. He pointed his pistol at Toda's chest and said, "Go back, this road is blocked."

Toda returned to the Imperial Palace and met Tokugawa at the door. The two of them went down the tunnel together and ran towards the Imperial Library.  As expected, sentries were posted at the other end of the tunnel, but there were no officers to command them.  They said nonchalantly that they were attendants on duty, and the sentinel let them pass.  Once at the Imperial Library, they woke up the female officials, but they were not allowed to disturb the Emperor.  The short Tokugawa tried to pull down the iron shutters, but because of the rust, it took several strong guards to pull them down.  When he and Toda returned to the Imperial Palace, a second lieutenant ordered them to stop. They ran away and finally escaped.

At this time, the main population of the Imperial Palace Province has been blocked by the heavy machine gun squad, and they entered through the side door.  On the second floor, the rebels held bayonets and held a tied prisoner, which shocked Toda. The prisoner was a person in charge of the Japan Broadcasting Association.

"Who are you?" a soldier asked.

    "It's an attendant," Toda replied.

The soldier turned to the prisoner and asked, "Did you give him the tape?"

"No, that person is much taller and has a big nose."

At that time, Tokugawa was the one who received the recordings, and he was actually shorter.  Not long after returning to the Imperial Palace, Tokugawa was caught by the second lieutenant who had just told him to stop near the Imperial Library.  He ordered the soldiers to take Tokugawa to the guard.Go.

However, Tokugawa, whose ancestors had ruled Japan for more than 250 years, arrogantly refused to go there.  "If you have a problem with me," he said, "let's discuss it here." The argument attracted two other rebel officers.  "Cut him!" one of them shouted.  "Killing me will do you no good," Tokugawa said majestically.

"I don't want my sword to rust for you," the lieutenant sneered, but Tokugawa's behavior clearly moved him.  He said the coup was justified and the seizure of the palace was necessary because the emperor's advisers had led him astray.

"Those people are really lawless!" Tokugawa just stared at him, and the second lieutenant went crazy with anger and shouted in a weird voice, "Don't you have the Japanese spirit?"

"I am a retainer," Tokugawa said proudly. "You are not the only one who protects the country. To defend the country, everyone must cooperate."

A noncommissioned officer slapped Tokugawa hard in the face.  His glasses were knocked crooked and hung on one ear.  Tokugawa called a palace police officer (the palace police officer was very weak and could not openly resist the rebels), "Hurry up and contact the attendant military attache!" The second lieutenant hurriedly caught the police officer.

Tokugawa stepped forward to stop him, but he seemed to be in charge.  He said angrily: "He is on duty!" The second lieutenant let the police officer go.  Another officer politely asked Tokugawa where Kido's office was.

Tokugawa pointed in the direction, but said: "I don't believe you can find him there." Then he turned around and walked away without anyone trying to stop him.  He came to the office of the Emperor's military attache.

¡°They are like a bunch of lunatics,¡± warned Vice Admiral Shunroku Nakamura, the emperor¡¯s naval adjutant. ¡°Be careful.  "He wanted to know where Kido was.

¡°I won¡¯t tell anyone where he is,¡± Tokugawa said.  To any senior military officer who is holed up in his office at this critical time.  He cannot be trusted easily.  "Rest assured, he is safe."

Major Denaka succeeded in isolating the Emperor, but was unable to find a recording of the Emperor's speech.  In addition, the news brought back by Lieutenant Colonel Ida who was sent out to perform important tasks was depressing: they could not get assistance from the outside world.

¡°The Eastern Military Barracks is unwilling to intervene,¡± he said.  In fact.  Ida himself believed that the coup could no longer be carried out.  "Once the officers and soldiers of the Guards Division find out that the division commander has been killed, they will refuse to continue. If they continue to fight recklessly, there will be a chaotic situation. There is no other way but to evacuate everything before dawn.  Troops." Tianzhong tried to interrupt.  Ida waved his hand.  "Let's face it, the coup has failed. But if you get the troops out quickly, the people will never know what happened." This thing will pass like a "Midsummer Night's Dream."

Tianzhong¡¯s face darkened.  "I understand," he said.

¡°I¡¯m going to report the situation to Prime Minister Lu,¡± Ida continued.  Does Tianzhong promise to withdraw the troops? Tianzhong nodded.  However, as soon as Ida left, the effect of his words disappeared, and the rebellious spirit in Den was still as hot as before.

He returned to the Guards Division Barracks, the command point of the rebellion.  The captain of the Second Regiment, Colonel Hoshiga, was thinking more and more suspiciously, why he hadn't seen Mori for such a long time.  Denzhong tried his best to avoid Fangga's question, but Major Koga was unwilling to remain silent any longer.  He confessed to his superiors that Mori was dead and urged Yoshiga to take command of the Guards Division.

How did Sen die?  Colonel Yoshiga asked.  Denaka and Koga both claimed not to know.  Fonga was quite uneasy. If it hadn't been for the call from the Eastern Military District Headquarters at this moment, Colonel Yonga would have continued to reluctantly unite with the opposition.  The caller was Tanaka's chief of staff, Major General Gao Jiu. He wanted to know what happened in the palace. Faga couldn't give a specific answer, so he handed the receiver to Tanaka.

¡°Your Excellency, Chief of Staff, I am Major Tianzhong,¡± he said in a trembling voice, ¡°Please understand our enthusiasm.¡±

Fortunately, Gao Jiu found the culprit.  He remembered that when he was at Army University, Tianzhong was a smart but naive idealist.  Therefore, he decided to "reason with him and use kind words instead of commanding or reprimanding him."  Gao Jiu said that he understood the mood of the opposition.

"There is no hope of success. Don't use the army anymore. This will only cause more unnecessary sacrifices In Japan, obeying the emperor's orders is both practical and the highest morality." He paused.  "Did you hear that?"

Everything that Ida predicted just now is now becoming a reality.  The voice in Tianzhong was choked with sobs.  "I understand very well, Your Excellency. Let me think about it again. I have another request. Can you give me ten minutes of broadcast time before broadcasting His Majesty the Emperor's edict?" He wanted to explain to the people why the young officers rebelled.

Gao Jiu said that this was a sign of "not being determined" and that we should try our best to save living beings.  "We've reached a point where we can't change the outcome.??.  Tianzhong, do you know what I mean?  "There was no answer. Then Gao Jiu heard sobbing.

Even though he only heard one side of the conversation, Faga confirmed his suspicions.  Yoshiga is furious at Denaka and Koga's claim that the Eastern Military District supports them.  He himself ordered them to cease their rebellion immediately, or else he would kill them.

Like before when faced with a persuasive confrontation, Tianzhong admitted defeat verbally, but was unwilling to give up in his heart.  He decided to adopt a new strategy to prevent the Japan Broadcasting Association from broadcasting recordings of the emperor's speeches.  His troops have occupied the broadcasting building and he is personally appealing to the nation.

Lieutenant Colonel Takeshita found him in the simple apartment of Anan Rikuxiang near the Capitol.  The reason why he went to see Lu Xiang was because he was worried that his brother-in-law would commit suicide.  It also fulfills its promise on behalf of the opposition.  Anan is writing a will on the desk in the living room.  A mat was spread next to it and a mosquito net was hung.  Anan hurriedly folded the will and asked in a somewhat condemning tone: "What are you doing here?"

?? Takeshita could tell that he was preparing to commit suicide, and it was meaningless to talk about rebellion.  So, while drinking, he chatted endlessly with Anan.  At the end, General Anan said casually: "I want to commit suicide tonight."

"It may be appropriate for you to commit suicide," Takeshita replied, "but not necessarily tonight. What do you think?"

Anan was relieved.  "I thought you would advise me not to do this. You agreed. I'm very happy." He showed the will to Takeshita, which was dated May 14th.  "The 14th is the anniversary of my father's death, and the 21st is the day my son was killed in battle. I have an ideological struggle over which day to choose. The 21st is too late. The emperor will broadcast tomorrow. I listened.  I won¡¯t be able to bear it.¡±

They chatted about personal matters until two in the morning.  There was a burst of gunfire from the direction of the palace.  Only then did Takeshita remember his promise to Tianzhong.  He briefly explained the rebels' latest plan.  But Anan is preoccupied with his own death - as far as he's concerned, he believes the coup's failure is a foregone conclusion.  In order to delay the death of her brother-in-law again, Takeshita asked.  Is it possible to commit seppuku after drinking so much alcohol?

"I belong to the fifth degree of swordsmanship, and I will not fail," he said confidently. "If alcohol can make your blood flow faster, then you will definitely succeed. If it doesn't work, I have to ask for your help."  "He took off his clothes and wrapped a piece of white cotton cloth around his abdomen.  At this time, Lieutenant Commander Ida arrived, and he came to report the situation in Tianzhong to Prime Minister Lu.  Preparations for the seppuku ceremony had to be interrupted.  But Ida didn't say anything. He didn't want to make a person who was about to commit suicide "sad".

"Come in," Anan said, "I am preparing to die." Does Ida agree?

"I think this is good," Ida said to Prime Minister Lu, who himself advocated mass suicide.  Anan's example will eliminate chaos in the Army and put an end to all other conspiracies.  Ida lowered his head and held back tears.  "I'll go with you soon," he said.

Anan reached out and gave him a few mouthfuls.  "It's enough for me to die. You must not die!" After he said this, he hugged Ida for a long time.  Both burst into tears.  "Don't die," Anan said in a voice slightly louder than a whisper, "Japan's future depends on you. Do you understand?"

"Understood, sir, I understand." But Ida still wanted to commit suicide.

"Let's have a drink to say goodbye to the bar," Anan suggested, suddenly becoming happy. The three of them were drinking, and Colonel Lin walked in, wearing General Anan's coat.  He said hurriedly, "General, there is an emergency in the Army Ministry. Please go there immediately. Let's leave now."

Anan was very annoyed and turned to him and said, "Why are you making such noise? Get out."

The three of them started drinking together again.  Anan took out two rolls of banners and showed them to Ida, one of which was signed "Minister of War Anand Yuiki".

The other picture is a "Japanese song".

    ¡°General, it¡¯s almost dawn,¡± Takeshita reminded him.

"I'm leaving now," Anan said, "Farewell forever."

After Ida bowed and exited, Anan once again asked Takeshita to give him a merciful blow to kill him if he failed to kill him.  He neatly placed his uniform in the closet, hugged his brother-in-law, and made one last request¡ªthat his body be clothed in military uniform.

Around four o'clock, someone came to disturb me again.  This time it was Lieutenant General Sanji Oshiro, the captain of the military police, who came to see Prime Minister Lu.  Anan asked Takeshita to go out and deal with him, while he pulled the mat on the bed to the corridor and sat down cross-legged towards the palace.  According to seppuku, if blood can be splashed on the "tatami", it means that he believes that he is not at fault.  He carefully thrust the dagger deep into his belly and made two cuts - one to the right and one upward.  This is called "cutting the abdomen", and because of the severe pain, few people can do it.  He sat there, blood flowing to the floor and soaking the two rolls of banners beside him.  He heard someone approaching and asked loudly, "Who is it?"

?The person coming is Lin.  Anan groaned, and his secretary hurried back to the reception room to find Takeshita.  "Go tell my sister that my brother-in-law committed seppuku," Takeshita said.  He came to the corridor and saw General Anan leaning forward slightly, holding a dagger in his right hand, blood dripping down, and feeling for veins with his left hand.  Suddenly, he thrust the dagger into his throat.  Strangely, there was almost no bleeding from the wound.  Takeshita said, "Want me to help?"

"There's no need," General Anan hummed, "Let's go."

Takeshita withdrew, but the general's groan made him turn back.  "Does it hurt?" he asked.  Anan has lost consciousness.  Takeshita picked up the dagger, stabbed Anan on the back of the neck, and put a coat full of medals on the dying general.  (To be continued)
