Pujin Pass, during the Warring States Period, was set up by Wei Dynasty to guard against the Qin State in Hexi. It was also called Pujin Pass.  During the Qin Dynasty, the first emperor of Qin built a road to run from the north of Xianyang to the Yueyang Road, which was the Pujin Pass Road. This road could go directly from Xianyang to Jinyang.

In the Han Dynasty, customs officials began to be set up in Pujin to ridicule travelers.  Cao Cao of the Three Kingdoms attacked Ma Chao in the west, and Han Sui ordered generals Xu Huang and Zhu Ling to cross Pubanjin and establish a camp in Hexi.  Xu Huang wrote to Cao Cao, saying that our army is currently stationed at Tongguan, and Ma Chao no longer guards Pujin, knowing that he has no plan.

During the Kaihuang period, Guanzhong, the capital of the Sui Dynasty, attached great importance to the transportation defense of Pujin Pass. It built a pontoon bridge on the Yellow River and built a city in the river, named Zhongli City.  In ancient Chinese, the meaning of sand in water is ™ü.  Therefore, the name Zhongli City means that the city was built on the sand in the river.

By the time Li Chongjiu¡¯s car arrived in front of Pujin Pass from Wenxi, the land and water attack on Pujin Pass had been launched for two days.

The war drums were beating below the city, and surrounded by the generals and staff, Li Chongjiu climbed up to the high platform and looked into the distance.

But I saw the turbid yellow Yellow River rushing past from afar, and hundreds of jet-black warships floated on the surface of the Yellow River.  These warships are heading down the river to attack Zhongli City in the river.

The generals in charge of the attack were Li Yuanji and Li Yuan. Li Yuanji was seen personally holding a halberd and standing on the bow of the ship, shouting and commanding the soldiers on the left and right.  The boats in the front row approached the city, and the Zhao Jun crossbowmen standing on the bows fired rockets into Zhongli City.  Several places within Zhongli City were ablaze, with billowing black smoke.

On the water, Li Yuanji ordered Zhao Jun's fleet to sail close to the city, use a pile of firewood mixed with kerosene, and throw it into the city to burn it.  The Tang army in the city also tried their best to come out of the city to resist.  Intercepted Zhao Jun's fire ships and fired Zhao Jun's firewood into the city.  Throw it out of the city.

The fierce battle on Zhongli City was very fierce, but it was also average on land.

Since the two unsuccessful attacks on Zhao.  Li Tang strengthened the defense against Pujin Pass. Last year, he conquered 50,000 civilians and rebuilt Pujin Pass.  In addition, six more docks were built outside the four gates, and a layer of loess rammed earth walls was built outside the docks to reinforce it, forming a separatist regime with a city within the city.

For the fortified city built by Li Tang with great effort, even with Luo Shixin's courage, Su Dingfang's strategy, and Yuchi Gong's heroism.  Three well-known generals from the Zhao army attacked fiercely for two days, but still failed to shake the defense of Pujin Pass.

At the beginning, Li Chongjiu gave the order to the three of them to cross the Yellow River within three days, but today is the third day. The three of them, plus Li Yuanji, and Li Yuan, followed the current with a total of 45,000 troops. They were also anxious.  Launched the most violent offensive towards Pujin Pass.

Looking from the high platform.  But at the east gate, which was the farthest distance from the fierce battle, tens of thousands of Zhao troops were deployed to attack, like a undulating ocean, with the soldiers in the front row holding huge shields.  The soldiers in the second row held strong crossbows, while the soldiers behind them raised siege ladders and headed towards the city.

The outermost layer of rammed walls.  Half of it had been demolished by Zhao Jun, and the soldiers easily poured through the middle.  And at the east gate.  Of the six forts built by the Tang army, three were captured by the Zhao army.  On the remaining three towers, Zhao's soldiers were also attacking the city.

General Wei Chigong sat near the rammed wall and commanded the siege.

As for the rest of the Zhao army, led by Luo Shixin and Su Dingfang, they launched an attack on the Tang army at the east gate.  On the city wall of Pujin Pass, the banner with the word Cheng was flying high, and rolling logs and stones were constantly falling from the top of the city. The attacking Zhao army braved arrows and climbed onto the city to attack.

The Zhao army attacked very fiercely, but the Tang army also fought very bravely despite the inferior strength.

Li Chongjiu watched for a while and said to the left and right: "Look at the six forts built by the Tang army in front of the east gate, which very effectively divided our attacking forces. This prevented our troops and horses attacking the city wall from gathering together, and the formation was affected.  Destruction, it is futile to continue fighting like this, who is the general guarding the city of the Tang army?"

"Cheng Zhijie, also known as Cheng Yaojin."

Li Chongjiu suddenly said: "It turns out to be this person."

At this time, the horse galloped towards the high platform. A cavalryman jumped off his horse and reported to Li Chongjiu: "Your Majesty, on the west bank of the Yellow River, the army of Li Tang was discovered, and there was also the flag of Emperor Li Tang."

Hearing this, the generals of the Zhao army were shocked. Li Shimin actually came to Pujin Pass in person. This was his plan to have a decisive battle with Li Chongjiu by the Yellow River.

Li Chongjiu looked into the distance from the high platform, and saw that on the west bank of the Yellow River, countless military flags suddenly appeared, and there was a scene of billowing smoke and dust all over the place. The momentum seemed to be very loud, but the distance was too far away, so he couldn't see how many there were.  Soldiers and horses.

Li Chongjiu thought: "If Li Shimin really came here to garrison Pujing Pass, then why did he give up Jiangzhou so easily before? Without Jiangzhou, it would be very passive to defend Pujing Pass."

Li Chongjiu said to Ji Chuan: "The west bank is too far away for our army to conduct reconnaissance. I don't know the specific strength of the enemy's army, but I think this is probably LiThe people's suspicious strategy, his main force will not be here.  "

Zhang Xuansu said: "Your Majesty, I also think so. If Li Shimin really intercepts us at Pujin Pass, what is the difference between this and defending Chang'an? As long as our army confronts him on the east and west of the Yellow River, then we will wait until the west of Wang Junkuo  When the army arrives, Li Shimin will undoubtedly be in the dilemma of being attacked from both sides, and he will not make this foolish move."

Yu Shinan said: "But we can't guess. If Li Shimin really leads the main force on the west bank, then if our army rushes across the river to attack, there is a risk of being attacked by the Tang army halfway across the river."

Speaking of this, Yu Shinan paused and said to Li Chongjiu: "The Tang army had been stationed at Pujin Pass to prevent our army from crossing the Yellow River westward. If it were delayed, it would be detrimental to the advance. I boldly suggested to your majesty that we should bypass Pujin Pass and start from  Jiangzhou went south to Longmen Pass to cross the river, from Yumenkou to Hancheng, and then to Tongzhou via Heyang to attack Chang'an."

After listening to Yu Shinan¡¯s words, Li Chongjiu began to think deeply.

Yu Shinan¡¯s suggestion is to cross the Yellow River from Longmen Pass upstream of Pujin Pass.  Longmen Pass is where the carp leaps over the dragon gate. It is not impossible to advance troops from here, but the route has been stretched by more than two hundred miles, and the food road and supply line have also been detoured by more than two hundred miles.

As soon as Yu Shinan finished speaking, Zhang Xuansu immediately objected: "Your Majesty, Pujin Pass is the key point of the west of Guanxi and the convergence of the east of the river. If this pass is captured, the middle of the pass will be shaken. How can we take a detour out of fear of difficulty?"

Ji Chuan said: "Pujin Pass is difficult to attack, not just for a while. Now the main force of our army is gathered below the city. An army of 200,000 can break through this small city without any effort. As for Li Shimin on the other side, Wei Chen believes that even if he does get here, he will not need to  Worry.¡±

Li Chongjiu listened to the opinions of Zhang Xuansu and Ji Chuan and agreed: "I agree with Zhang and Ji Erqing. However, Yu Aiqing's opinion inspired me and ordered Li Yuanji to carry Xue Wanjun's 5,000 troops and land at Longmen, pretending to be me.  The army is divided. In fact, our army is still mainly attacking Pujin Pass!" (To be continued, please search Piaotian Literature, the novel is better and updated faster!
