When the World-Honored One was propagating the Jia tree in the Solitary Garden of the Savatti Kingdom, an evil ghost named "Bisha" appeared at the border of the Bajji Kingdom. He was extremely ferocious and cruel and killed countless people. He killed one person every day, Two people, three people, four people, five people, ten people, twenty people, thirty people, forty people, fifty people. Because of the murderous spirit, many ghosts, gods and Rakshasa gathered in this country.
At that time, the people of Bazhi country were in panic, and they gathered together to negotiate: "Let's leave here and move to other countries! Don't live in this terrible place!" The evil ghost of Bisha knew what the people were thinking, and appeared to threaten: "Who You are not allowed to leave. Even if you flee to other lands, you will not be able to escape from my grasp. Unless you sacrifice one person to me every day, then I will no longer harass you at will!" So the people agreed to sacrifice one person every day. Taste. Whenever the evil spirits finished eating, they would throw the bones into the distant valley. Soon, the valley was filled with the bones of the victims.
At that time, there was an elder named "Shanjue". His family was rich and full of treasures. He owned countless mules, donkeys, camels and other domestic animals, as well as countless gold, silver, clams, agates, pearls, Amber and other treasures. Elder Shanjue only had one son, named "Nayuluo", whom he loved very much and never let him leave his side. However, one day it was my son's turn to be the sacrifice victim.
After the sad elder Shanjue bathed and changed his son's clothes, he personally took Nayura to the tomb of the evil ghost in Bisha. The elderly couple cried sadly and looked up to the sky and prayed: "Gods of heaven and gods of earth! Please prove to me that our husband and wife only have this son. Please pray for the protection of all the two evil ghosts and kings to keep him away from disasters." . Pray for the protection of the four heavenly kings to protect him from this disaster. Emperor Shitihuanyin! We owe our lives to you. Please save my son! King Brahma! We also owe our lives to you! All guardians Ghosts and gods in the world, please help them escape from disasters! I now take refuge in the Tathagata, the great Arhat disciples, and all the Pratyekabuddha saints who have no teacher and self-realization. Please help them escape from the disasters! I now take refuge in the Tathagata. World Honored One, you can subjugate those who are difficult to subjugate, save those who are difficult to achieve, enlighten those who cannot achieve enlightenment, and even enable those who cannot be liberated to be liberated, and those who have not yet reached nirvana to enter nirvana. You are the great medical king, and you can save those who cannot be saved. The patient's eyes are the eyes of the blind. No matter gods, dragons, ghosts, all human beings, demons and their relatives, they are not as noble as you. You are the most worthy of respect in heaven and earth, and you are also the blessed field that protects all living beings. Please be compassionate and discerning, See our sincerity." After praying, Nayoluo's parents left their son in the place of the evil ghost and left reluctantly.
At that time, the World-Honored One, with his pure heavenly eyes and ears, heard the cries and ardent prayers of Nayuras parents. In an instant, the World-Honored One came to the residence of the evil ghost with his divine power. Just as the evil ghost went to the place where ghosts and gods live in the snow mountains in the north, the Buddha entered the house of the evil ghost, focused his mind with righteous thoughts, and sat in lotus position.
At that time, Nayuluo also gradually came to the residence of the evil ghost. He saw a practitioner in the evil ghost's house in the distance, whose whole body was glowing with golden light and who was sitting upright with thoughts. He had a majestic and dignified figure that was rare in the world. His six roots were quiet. He had many merits and virtues and could subjugate all demons. He also had thirty-two special and solemn features. , The eighty kinds of good things are like Mount Sumeru, which is higher than the top of the group. The body and appearance are like the sun and the moon, and like the golden mountain shining brightly, shining for thousands of miles.
Looking at the incomparably majestic Buddha, Nayura thought happily: "This person must not be the evil ghost of Bisha, because I was very happy when I saw him. If he is really an evil ghost, I will be willing to eat with him." The World Honored One expanded With kind eyes, he said: "Nayoro! As you said, I am the Tathagata, the Supreme, the Enlightened One, and I am here to rescue you and subdue this evil ghost." Upon hearing this, Nayoro came to the Buddha with great joy. In front of him, he bowed respectfully and sat aside.
So, the World Honored One expounded the wonderful meaning of Buddhism to Nayuluo, and talked about the theory of giving, the theory of precepts, and the theory of rebirth in heaven. Desire and love are filthy, leaky and impure. The key is to become a monk and cut off desires and eliminate delusion. After listening to the Dharma, Nayu was filled with joy and his mind softened. The Buddha further explained the four noble truths of suffering, the origin, cessation, and path that Buddhas often preached. That Yura listened intently and attentively. He immediately cut off all troubles and delusions and gained a pure Dharma eye. Because he sees and obtains the Dharma, and reaches all Dharma perfectly without any doubts, he takes refuge in the Three Jewels and accepts and upholds the Five Precepts.
Soon, the evil ghost of Bisha came back. In the distance, he saw the Buddha sitting quietly in the house. The evil ghost was so angry that he violently attacked Tathagata in the form of wind, rain, thunder and lightning, swords, lights and swords. However, before the sharp sword fell to the ground, it turned into the elegant Upaba Lotus. The evil spirit of Bisha intensified its anger and turned into mountains, rivers and rock walls like a torrential rain. Before the rocks hit the ground, they turned into various kinds of food. At this time, the evil ghost turned into an elephant and roared towards Tathagata. The World-Honored One turned into a lion king. In an instant, the evil ghost turned into a fierce lion and rushed towards it. The World-Honored One instantly turned into a ball of fire, making the evil ghost angry. Unable to restrain himself, he turned into a big dragon with seven heads. The World-Honored One immediately transformed into the natural enemy of the dragon and snake, the Garuda.
The evil ghost of Bisha thought to himself: "I have used all my power, but this ascetic is still unmoved. Why not test his profound principles now?" The evil ghost shouted: "Now I want to ask some profound questions. If you can't answer your question, I will grab your feet and throw you to Hainan. The World-Honored One responded to him: "Evil ghost!" The Buddha can know all truths, and no gods, humans, ascetics, Brahmins, or non-human beings can grab the Buddha's feet and throw them to the south of the sea. Since you want to ask about Giri, then ask! "
Then the evil spirits began to ask questions: "Monk! What is the old conduct? What is the new conduct? What is the cessation of the conduct?" The World-Honored One answered: "The eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind are the old conduct, which change according to causes and conditions. , is the result inspired by the previous deeds." The evil ghost asked again: "Then what is the new deed?" The Buddha replied: "The three deeds of killing, stealing and sexual intercourse created by the body in this life are gossip, harsh words, false talk, and frivolous speech. The four karma of speech and the three karma of greed, hatred and delusion created by thoughts are the new karma." The evil ghost asked again: "What is the cessation of karma?" The World Honored One replied: "When the old karma is annihilated, it will not arise again, nor will it be created again. By doing new things, defilements will no longer arise, and the suffering of deluded karma will never remain. This is the cessation of actions."
At this time, the evil ghost told the World Honored One: "I am very hungry now. Why did you take away my food? This child is mine, a monk! Give him back to me!" The World Honored One told the evil ghost: "I practiced Bodhisattva conduct before I became enlightened. , when a pigeon chased by an eagle asked for help, I did not care about my life to save it from trouble. What's more, I have become a Buddha, how can I abandon it? Even if you use all your magical power, the Buddha will not hand over this child. You know In the past, during the time of Kassapa Buddha, you were a ascetic who practiced a pure holy life. Later, because you violated the precepts, you became an evil ghost in this life."
With the blessing of the Buddha's divine power, the evil ghost recalled all the deeds he had done in the previous life, so he respectfully bowed at the Buddha's feet and said: "I am so stupid! I can't tell the truth from the false, and I have so many evil thoughts towards the Buddha. I only hope that the World Honored One will accept me." Repent!" The evil ghost confessed again and again. The World Honored One agreed: "Buddha accepts your repentance, and you must never do it again in the future." Then he lectured on the subtle Dharma, filling him with Dharma joy. Finally, the evil ghost held up thousands of taels of gold and said repeatedly: "I am willing to donate this valley as a residence for the Sangha. I also have this thousand taels of gold. May the World Honored One accept it with mercy."
The World-Honored One accepted his offering and uttered a verse to wish: "The fruits of the garden will provide cooling, and serve as water bridges. We will also be able to build large boats and provide various health-preserving tools. We will not rest day and night, and we will receive immeasurable blessings. The Dharma, righteousness, and precepts will be fulfilled. Finally, The next generation will be born in heaven.¡±
The evil ghost asked the World Honored One: "I wonder if the World Honored One has any other instructions?" The World Honored One said: "Now you abandon your original form, wear the three robes of a monk, transform into a monk, and go to Baghu City to preach: Dear sages, the Tathagata has now been born. It can subjugate those who are difficult to subjugate, and can make those who are difficult to subjugate, and can also liberate those who cannot be liberated, rescue those who cannot be saved, and can also serve as eyes for the blind. No matter in heaven or on earth, gods, dragons, gods, ghosts, or demons and their descendants, humans and non-humans etc., none of them are as good as the Tathagata. The Buddha is the most noble one in the world and is a field of blessing for all living beings. The Buddha has saved Nayora and subdued the evil ghost of Bisha. You can go and accept the salvation of the Buddha." The evil ghosts respect him respectfully. Said: "Follow the teachings and follow them!"
According to the instructions of the World Honored One, Ghost Bisha transformed into a Samana, wearing three dharma robes, and preached widely in the streets and alleys of the city. At that time, the people of Bazhu Kingdom burst into joy, and the elder Shanjue was extremely happy when he heard the good news, so he led 84,000 people to the residence of the World Honored One. Everyone came to the World Honored One, bowed their heads and faces at the Buddha's feet, and then sat aside.
The World-Honored One gradually clarified the subtle meaning, explained the theory of giving, the theory of precepts, and the theory of rebirth in heaven, and revealed that the five desires are impurities, impurities, and the great dangers of life and death. The World-Honored One observed that the eighty-four thousand people were filled with Dharma joy, and further explained the Four Noble Truths of suffering, the origin, cessation, and the path that are always preached by the Buddhas. The people attending the meeting listened attentively, and their hearts were like pure white clothes that are easily stained. Their troubles and dirt were immediately eliminated, and they realized the purity of the Dharma Eye. The eighty-four thousand people obtained and saw the Dharma and had no doubts about the Dharma. They took refuge in the Three Jewels of Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, accepted and upheld the Five Precepts, and became disciples of the Buddha.
At that time, the elder Shanjue said respectfully: "I only hope that the World Honored One will accept my offering!" The World Honored One accepted the prayer silently. The elder then stood up, bowed at the Buddha's feet, and returned home to prepare various delicacies. The next day, the World-Honored One, wearing robes and holding an alms bowl, came to the residence of the elder Shanjue in Bajicheng and sat down on the mat. The elders personally offered tea and various kinds of food. After the Lord had fasted, the elder purified his hands with water, took a seat in front of the Tathagata, and said: "Thank you Lord for your kindness in accepting the disciples' offerings! If the four disciples of the Sangha need any clothing, food, food, bedding, or medicine, I will They are all happy to offer sacrifices to the monks." The World Honored One happily agreed and once again taught the elders the wonderful meaning of Buddhism, then stood up and left.
At that time, the moment the World Honored One stretched out his arms, he returned from the Kingdom of Bazhi to the Jihuan Jingshe in the Kingdom of Savatthi, which was thousands of miles away. The World-Honored One said to the monks: "In the future, all the clothing, food, bedding, and medicine needed by the four members of the Sangha can be donated by the father of Upasaka." The World-Honored One told the monks: "Now the most motivated among Upasaka The first disciple who gave generously was the Venerable Shanjue." At this time, all the monks heard the Buddha's teachings, and they all felt happy and followed the teachings.
Although King Enbuzhuxiangpinbasara believed in Buddhism, he did not realize it personally and did not know the suffering of human nature. It was only after he personally experienced it that he truly realized the depth and breadth of the Buddha's wisdom.Devadatta and King Ajatasavat can represent people's pure Buddha nature being obscured by desires, which casts a shadow and shakes their faith. Because their faith is shaken, they create serious sins. Not only do they fail to achieve Buddhahood, but they also create The reason for going to hell.
Therefore, are the obstacles of sinful karma self-created or man-made? Is the inability to achieve Taoism an obstacle to oneself or others? In short, all Taoist karma is self-generated obstacles, and all sinful karma is also self-created. Therefore, we must take the Buddha's mind as our own mind. If we can always take the Buddha's mind as our own mind, then we will see all living beings in the world as Buddhas. If we use the Buddha's mind to tolerate all sentient beings, we will not complain about others and treat things without regard for others. ; If you don¡¯t have any resentment, you can always be happy and at ease, and you can always make progress without being hindered by external circumstances.
