    "It's caltrops!"

Linghu Chao¡¯s head was buzzing after hearing this.

How could he not notice Tang Jun¡¯s simple arrangement? He was too eager for quick success!  Fortunately now, one-third of the remaining thousand cavalry were temporarily injured, and less than 700 soldiers were able to mount their horses and fight.  If those thousand Tang people got on horseback to fight with me, I would not have the capital or confidence to defeat them.

"General Linghu, it's not good! Those Mo Swordsmen, those Mo Swordsmen got on their horses and came to hunt us down!" While Fang Linghuchao was deep in thought, a soldier eagerly urged his horse forward to him.  Reported the latest military information.

Linghu Chao frowned and looked in the direction pointed by the soldiers.

as expected!  The naked upper body Mo Daomen dropped their murderous blades and got on their horses, holding horizontal knives to kill him.

"Alas!" Linghu Chao looked at the soldiers who were still wailing and struggling in the iron caltrops array, sighed and ordered: "Send my order to the east along the Cang River to break out of the encirclement!"

The most important thing right now is to escape, leaving the green hills without worrying about having no firewood. Revenge must be done with a life, right?

"General Linghu has given an order, and the whole army must form a formation and break out. General Linghu has given an order, and the whole army must form a formation and break out!"

The soldiers shouted impatiently over and over again, conveying Linghu Chao¡¯s orders to the ears of every soldier

Linghu Chao led six to seven hundred disabled cavalry and galloped along the south bank of the Canghe River, hoping to get rid of the group of Tang cavalry who appeared out of nowhere.

But those guys clung to themselves like a piece of dog-skin plaster, refusing to relax at all.

"Faster, faster! Damn it, what are these Tang people doing? I can't get along with grandpa like this!"

Linghu Chao swung his horse whip fiercely and shouted at the soldiers behind him, while he kept greeting the direct relatives of this Tang army in his heart.

He just wanted to cross the suspension bridge, but they tried their best to stop him.  That's okay, after all, their current positions are different.  But they are so unreasonable and unforgiving that they want to drive them all out?

"Speed ??up your horse. If you don't want to have your head cut off by the Tang Dynasty, just speed up!"

Linghu Chao turned around and glanced at Tang Qi, who was sixty or seventy steps away. His heart tightened, he pinched the horse's belly hard, and galloped forward.

    "ah!"

    "Poof! Poof!"

The sound of a series of arrows drilling into the flesh was heard. Linghu Chao shuddered for no reason, but he did not dare to look back.

    "Poof! Poof!"

    "Ah! Mother, ah"

There were one after another that came over, and one after another rebels rolled off their backs, and then the horses that were followed up became mud.

    "Poof! Poof!"

Linghu Chao didn¡¯t know how many casualties his soldiers had suffered. He just wanted to escape for his life now!  As long as you can escape from the clutches of these demons, nothing else matters!  He no longer wants this official position, he no longer earns this fame, all he wants is a small life!

    "Drive! Drive!"

Li Kuo held the horse's belly tightly with his legs, took the black bow from the soldiers, took out an eagle-feather arrow and put it on the bowstring.

    boom!  boom!  boom!

Li Kuo held his breath and concentrated, feeling the changes in the people around him.

¡°I can clearly hear the sound of the breeze stepping on the dirt road, I can clearly hear the beating of my heart, I can even hear the faint breath of the dying person.

The sounds of everything in the world become so clear when you are calm. Li Kuo took a deep breath and pointed the arrowhead tightly at the man in silver armor dozens of steps away.

It was this man who fought against Xiao Zhang Tanhua outside Yongqiu, this man besieged nearly 10,000 soldiers in Suiyang, and this man betrayed the Tang Dynasty without hesitation and fell into the arms of the rebels.

Such a person should be killed!

    Provide, buckle, charge, and release!

Li Kuo suddenly took action, and the arrow hit Xuan'er and shot toward Linghu Chao's vest. He was extremely powerful for a moment.

"Ah!" Linghu Chao, who was still galloping, felt a sharp pain coming from his vest. With difficulty, he looked through his body and saw a Tang Dynasty general in black helmet not far away holding a black bow.  Looking at him solemnly.

"Poof!" Linghu Chao's heart was filled with rage, a mouthful of old blood spurted out, and he fell heavily off the horse.

    Late autumn, in Sichuan.

Li Longji stood leaning on the imperial slump of the palace, looking at the jade sculpture of a noble concubine presented by Wei Shitu, the Jiedushi of Jiannan Road, and remained silent for a long time.

Since he got this jade sculpture from Wei Shitun, Li Longji felt like he had obtained a treasure and locked himself in it all day long.In the palace, accompanied by jade sculptures, they would murmur the name of the imperial concubine from time to time.

In recent days, this situation has become more and more serious. Even the delicacies presented by the imperial chef are not enough to make him move his chopsticks.  Li Longji often sat for a whole day, and often lived without food or water. Such an approach would make even a young and strong man unbeatable, let alone an old man who was already 80 years old.

"Your Majesty, it's time for you to eat!" Gao Lishi walked into the palace tremblingly and bowed slightly to Li Longji who was sitting on the bed.

"Oh, it's Yuan Yi, put it down. I'm not hungry, I want to accompany the imperial concubine." Li Longji slowly caressed Yang Yuhuan's cheek and said lightly.

Seeing Li Longji like this, Gao Lishi was heartbroken, but he couldn't show it at all. He only said: "I came today to tell your Majesty some good news."

"What good news? Is it Yuhuan? Has Yuhuan been found? I'll tell you, Yuhuan is not dead. Where did you hide the Yuhuan? Tell me!"

Li Longji became excited for a moment, shaking Gao Lishi repeatedly and asking.

"Your Majesty, the imperial concubine, she has really gone." A line of tears slid down Gao Lishi's cheeks and fell on the Persian tribute blanket.

After a pause, Gao Lishi wiped the tears from his eyes and murmured: "I'm here, I'm here to tell you that Chang'an City has been recovered!" (Note 1)

Note 1: The battle to recover Chang'an: Briefly, the Tang army launched a general attack on Chang'an on September 12th. Marshal Guangping Wang Li Chu and deputy marshal Guo Ziyi led 150,000 troops and borrowed 4,000 Hui troops to attack Chang'an.  On the 27th, the Tang army marched to the west of Chang'an, arrayed to the north of Xiangji Temple (today's south of Chang'an, Shaanxi Province) and east of Fengshui River, and started a fierce battle with the 100,000 An army arrayed to the north of the Tang army.  Under attack from two sides by the Tang army, the An army was defeated and more than 60,000 people were wiped out. They evacuated Chang'an that night and fled eastward.  The Tang army did not take advantage of the victory and pursue it, but regained Chang'an on the 28th.

ps: The Tang Dynasty¡¯s battle to regain Chang¡¯an was too grand, and it took too long. I made a choice and still didn¡¯t write it.
