Episode 2 Young Mayor Chapter 49 American Gangster

Previous page        Return to Catalog        Next page

Udunis Gortat is the boss of the notorious street gang "Crips" in the town. It is known as a branch of the famous American gangster "Crips". It has gathered some unemployed black teenagers and wanders the streets all day long.

After Braddock fell into recession and became a poor city, street gangs began to gradually become popular. Some unemployed teenagers joined gangs one after another. Abandoned factories and dilapidated empty houses became their activities.

After all, these street gangs are not big and deep-rooted gangs like the "Crips". They generally do not engage in high-impact criminal activities such as murder, kidnapping, and robbery, but they also engage in drug abuse, gambling, and organizing underground sex parties.  There were fights and even small amounts of drugs were sold.

They will also extort businessmen, but usually they will not harass local residents for no reason. If they do that, it will be difficult for their families to gain a foothold in the town, and they will easily arouse public outrage and be attacked.

Because of the existence of street gangs, public security in Braddock is not good.  If you accidentally offend these people, it will be very troublesome.  So as soon as Wang Lei heard Udunis' name, he nervously asked what was going on.

"It's okay, they don't dare to do anything to me." Emily smiled, she was very satisfied with Wang Lei's reaction.

"He asked me to give you a message, don't do it all, and he also said some threatening words."

Hearing what Emily said, and seeing that she really didn't seem to be violated, Wang Lei breathed a long sigh of relief: "Is he crazy? We have nothing to do with each other. Why did he bite me?"

"Rex, you are the mayor now. Udunis is afraid that you will let the police arrest them." Luka turned his neck and said, his mood was not very high. Although Luka was not a member of the Crips, he was  Most of the members are black, and he has good relationships with some of them, and does not want to see them conflict with Wang Lei.

"The Crips" are a street gang dominated by black people. They are not only a gang, but also a spiritual symbol of black people resisting power and fighting for living space. They also have a great influence on black popular culture.

The Crip Gang first appeared in the 1970s, when Compton, Los Angeles, was still an industrial area, where unemployed blacks and hippies gathered.  As the East Coast Mafia moved westward, black life was in crisis, and early self-defense groups began to appear.

The predecessor of the Crips Gang.

At first, the Crip Gang was just a self-defense neighborhood organization, mainly composed of black people who had been beaten in the leg. However, after the membership expanded, it soon developed its own lifestyle. Its members became a threat to local residents and began to carry out some  Illegal activities.

Especially after one of the founders, Raymond Watson, was killed and another founder, Williams, was imprisoned, the Crips Gang not only fought with other gangs, but also became very fierce in its internal struggles.

Wang Lei didn't have any good impressions of the Crips. This was not only because Braddock's members of the Crips made him look down on him, but also because Williams, one of the founders of the Crips, had brutally killed someone who ran a small hotel in California.  The Chinese boss¡¯ family of three.

It is worth mentioning that the Crip Gang has derived a unique culture - c-walk.

As an underground force, American gangs usually have their own secret words and codes, including gestures and body movements. The step secret code created by the Crip Gang is one of them. This is c-walk.

In the late 1980s, a hip-hop dance group called Cripgang adapted c-walk into orthodox dance steps and added a rhythmic style, officially making it a branch of hip-hop street dance.  In the end, it became uncontrollable and spread to black organizations across the United States and around the world. They wore mainly blue clothes, made the classic hand gesture C, used turbans as masks, decorated with headscarves, and danced their own dance¡ª¡ª  c-walk.

Even many famous hip-hop singers are members of the Crip Gang or the Blood Gang. The latter was once the main enemy of the Crip Gang. Their dance step is b-walk.

Wang Lei really doesn¡¯t have a policy specifically targeting the Crips and Braddock street gangs. In his opinion, the emergence of street gangs has a lot to do with environmental factors. If Braddock can achieve both community revitalization and economic revitalization,  point, then street gangs will lose the soil for survival.

Braddock¡¯s Crips have nothing to do with the real Crips. It is just a street gang run by some black teenagers who worship the Crips. It is not particularly harmful to the community.

But what happened to Emily today made him feel very angry, and for the first time he felt threatened by a street gang.  If any small town resident is threatened by gangs, it must be his negligence as the mayor.

"Hey, they were right, I won't let them go because they scared Emily." Wang Lei said through gritted teeth, he could tell??, Emily did get a little frightened.

What¡¯s more, after what happened, he was absolutely worried about letting Emily stay out alone at night.

"Rex, the cripples are not easy to deal with, otherwise, the police would have arrested them all long ago!" Douglas, who had just arrived, said worriedly after hearing what happened.

"Rex, did you say something? Logically speaking, they would not provoke you, the new mayor, for no reason." Wang Yang said with a frown. He might be one of the few people who faced Braddock.  The lame man knew the most, because his family's business had to pay the lame man a protection fee every month, otherwise he would be in constant trouble.

Crips generally don't run amok in local communities. This is not the 1970s after all. The government has been sparing no effort in cracking down on gangs. As long as you are willing to pay protection fees, they will never take the initiative to cause trouble. Those who have great influence and are easy to target are criminals.  They basically did not engage in activities. At most, they only collected protection fees, smoked marijuana, and gambled. Even if they were caught by the police, it was not a serious crime.

Wang Lei waved his hand: "I don't know, I didn't want to deal with them. Maybe they wanted to give me a blow, but they were wrong. Threats will only make me more motivated to fight."

¡°They don¡¯t let me get a handle on it, otherwise I won¡¯t let them go.¡±

"Rex, don't be impulsive. At least don't conflict with them until you catch them. Otherwise, it will bring trouble to Emily, Wang Hua, and your parents." Wang Yang was worried  said.

"Bang!" Wang Lei punched the table. At this moment, he really wanted to find Udonis, have a one-on-one duel with him, and beat his opponent until his mouth was full of teeth.

But he can't do this. He is the mayor of Braddock and has to solve the problem through legal means. He also has to consider the impact this matter will have on the people around him. He cannot let them threaten his parents, and  Wang Hua and Emily.

"Okay, I know what to do. Luca, please help me ask what Udunis means. I didn't offend him." Wang Lei worked hard for a long time to restrain his anger, but this time  That doesn't mean he'll let Udonis and his Crips go, as well as other street gangs.

"Also, tell Udunis that my bottom line is that we don't invade each other. If he dares to take it too far and bite like a mad dog, I will definitely turn them into dead dogs. Don't think that I can't deal with them.  "Wang Lei gritted his teeth and said fiercely.

    ¡ª¡ª¡ª¡ª¡ª¡ª¡ª¡ª¡ª¡ª

ps: The Crips are real. Wikipedia mentioned the street gangs and Crips in the town when introducing John Fetterman, the mayor of Braddock, and the tattoo on Fetterman¡¯s right arm stated that a murder occurred in this city.  Five dates, this shows that Braddock's law and order is not good, democracy cannot solve all problems, it is only the least bad system.
