In the early morning of the 4th, intensive war drums sounded outside Cole City.

Duis finally couldn't hold himself back and ordered the 1st Division to launch an attack on Cole City from the east.

This is a probing attack.  Arrogance usually requires sufficient capital. The sunset prince wanted to see that Link, who openly clamored for a decisive battle with him, still had a shime card in his hand.

Outside the East City Gate, the soldiers of the 1st Division formed a battle formation, holding solid shields and carrying siege ladders as they quickly approached the city wall. "Please search Piaotian Literature, the novel will be better and updated faster!"  As cannon fodder, they must race against the shiji¨¡n and cross the death zone hundreds of meters under the city wall as quickly as possible. Otherwise, a few waves of arrows from the defenders will kill most of them.

However, the imaginary rain of arrows did not appear.  After arriving at the foot of the city wall without any danger, the sunset soldiers who had narrowly escaped could not help but raise their heads and look upward in astonishment.  There was no surprise in their hearts, but they were full of fear, because the strange calm on the battlefield often meant greater danger.

On the city wall, everything was quiet. Occasionally, a few soldiers poked their heads out of the arrow stacks and looked around curiously.

Aerial ladders leaned against the city wall, and the horn of charge sounded.

Rush, rush to the city wall!  The officers and soldiers of Sunset struggled to climb up carrying their shields.  Only by standing firm on the city wall and opening up a path for the follow-up troops to advance can they have hope of survival!

The enemies on the city wall finally reacted.

"You must keep the ladder steady. We can't be blamed if Ziji falls to death!"

"Ladder helpers, look at the shime and pay attention. You must be responsible for the brothers who climb the wall! I'm talking about you guys, why don't you look at it!"

"You said, why do you have to hold up a heavy shield to climb a wall? Don't be afraid, we don't have any arrows in our hands, we won't shoot you!"

"Hey, come on up, why don't you stop? I don't know how to chop you, so go ahead and climb up!"

A burst of strange shouts came from above.  Looking up, he saw a group of soldiers wearing black armor.  Lying down in the arrow stack.  He leaned out most of his body, pointed downwards, and spat wildly.

A deep sense of powerlessness arose in the hearts of those sunset soldiers who were sweating and holding their breath.  The naked contempt of the enemy.  Make them restless.  In a hurry.  Several people even fell off the ladder and screamed in pain on the ground.

The strange situation on the city wall is incomprehensible.  Not normal either.  Duis and Mari, who were watching the battle from a distance, both frowned.

However, when the sunset soldiers were about to climb up the wall, the soldiers defending the city finally took action.

"Brothers, cleanse the dust of our distinguished guests"

On the city wall, someone shouted at the top of his voice, and a row of Lanling soldiers carrying pots of various sizes appeared on the top of the wall.  They walked to the ladder and raised the basin in their hands.  A stream of clear, viscous liquid poured down the ladder.

"Fuck, vegetable oil?" His hands and feet slipped for a while, and a sunset soldier hurriedly hugged the ladder, and a familiar fragrance hit his nostrils.  Immediately afterwards, another basin of water poured down from the top of his head, covering his whole body.

"What a small trick!" Mali snorted and said disdainfully.  The enemy's actions made him feel much more relaxed.  Pouring oil and attacking with fire are just extremely old-fashioned tactics for defending the city. At most, they can only slightly delay the actions of the siege troops.

"It's still abnormal! Logically speaking, what they poured down should be boiling oil." Duis was still confused.  What is the use of such a harmless attack?

On the city wall, Heideman had the same questions as him.

"Damn, just making these oils will make the people in the city go on a vegetarian diet for several days. How can I have the nerve to dismantle other people's pots?" When he asked Nance the question in his mind, the latter replied.

"But is this useful?" Heideman frowned.

"Of course it works." Nance smiled proudly.

"Brothers, let's go!" He made a few gestures to the soldiers of the reconnaissance company who were already standing on the edge of the city wall, and a group of people jumped off the city wall.

The bodies of the team members slid down the ladder rapidly, and the ladder beneath them made a soft snapping sound, and suddenly split into two.  The sunset soldiers who blocked their path were either kicked down or became their dead souls.

Duis saw that dozens of ladders erected on the city wall were destroyed in an instant by a group of soldiers wearing black armor. The soldiers on the ladders suffered heavy casualties.  After destroying the ladder, these soldiers flew into the air and quickly returned to the city wall.

"These should be people from the Condor Mercenary Group, right?" Duis sneered.  He must admit that this is a well-trained teamelite soldiers, and their performance is commendable.  However, in a large battle involving tens of thousands of people, how effective can a small army be?

"It should be. There are elite troops like Lanling." Mari nodded.

"Look carefully. Don't let any of the shihou who are in ruins go, I will make them all go to hell!" Duis said with hatred.

"Yes, Your Highness!" Mari responded in a deep voice.

After the first wave of attacks encountered obstacles, the 1st Division quickly launched a new attack.  This time, not only ladders, but also long-range catapults, movable ladders, large rams all kinds of siege equipment were pushed onto the battlefield.

"My dear!" The variety of siege equipment on the battlefield made Nance's eyes widen.

More than ten catapults raised their catapults more than a hundred meters away in front of the city wall.  Huge boulders smashed into the city wall overwhelmingly.

"Boom!" The boulder hit the city wall heavily, and smoke filled the sky.  The soldiers guarding the city suddenly felt a violent earthquake.

"Damn it, if you give it a few more blows, this city wall will be destroyed!" Nance leaned over and looked at the large and small holes in the city wall, and couldn't help but shudder in his heart.  This was the first time he had witnessed a real siege battle. The powerful combat power displayed by Sunset's regular army allowed him to see the devastating and violent power of the war machine.

"Torre, I will take people to deal with those two rams. Those catapults and movable ladders are left to you!" He turned around and said to Torre who was sitting in the tower drinking tea.

"I thought you could handle it alone!" Torre pursed his lips, reached out and picked up the long bow on the table and stood up.

"Grandma, you can imagine how easy it is!" Nance said with emotion, "We have all said our big words, so we must be careful now. If we can't hold on for a long time, we will have to be chopped up by the boss!"

"It's you who's talking nonsense, not me." Torre said calmly, "Go ahead, leave the matters on the city wall to me!"

Nance smiled awkwardly: "When we rush out of the city, remember to provide fire support!"

"The reconnaissance company needs support, of course I'm happy to help!" Torre said with a smile.

The commander of the 1st Division looked at the rapidly advancing troops and the city wall that was riddled with holes, with a proud smile on his face.

Cole City is an ordinary small town with no danger to defend and no strong fortifications. It is destined to be crushed by the iron hoofs of the 1st Division.  The enemy had served a wonderful appetizer as the battle began, and now it was his turn to serve up the feast.  As long as the charging car approaches the city gate, or the catapult smashes a gap in the city wall, or the movable ladder approaches the city wall, his troops can attack with all their strength and win the first victory in this duel.

What he has to do now is to watch the show with peace of mind, because judging from the current situation, the enemy has no way to deal with these large siege equipment, and the destruction of the city is just a matter of time.

Just when he was leisurely and contented, hundreds of arrows flew out from the tower and struck towards his stone-throwing position.  However, he was not worried at all, because his stone-throwing position was far out of the range of the archers.  The enemy was obviously frightened and had no choice but to launch such a futile attack.

It was clear that the enemy's arrows were within reach, but the soldiers guarding the catapult still instinctively raised their shields.

The arrows in the air flew at high speed, making a sharp sound of breaking through the air, and reached the catapult position in an instant.

    "Whoosh!"

    "Whoosh!"

    "Whoosh!"

Hundreds of sunset soldiers who were carrying stones were suddenly shot through by long arrows. They fell to the ground with shrill screams, and blood spurted out from the wounds.  The stone-throwing position was instantly silenced.

Under the command of the officers, a group of soldiers rushed forward and tried to resume operating the catapults, but were soon killed by a new round of arrow rain.  The sunset soldier, who received two fatal rounds of fire, quickly learned his lesson.  Some of them held shields, protecting the soldiers carrying the stones, and walked slowly towards the catapult.  The third round of arrows roared in, knocking the soldiers to the ground with their shields.

The domineering archery skills immediately made the sunset soldiers on the stone-throwing position feel terrified, and no one dared to act rashly again.

Soon, they received the order to retreat out of the attack range of the enemy archers.

Just as they were retreating, Torre and others turned their attack target to the mobile ladder.  The soldiers standing on the ladder became living targets. After several rounds of shooting, they were all dead. The soldiers below had to push the movable ladder back quickly.

There were only two rams, escorted by thousands of soldiers, and they arrived at the city gate safely.  When the soldiers were pushing the cart and preparing to crash into the city gate,Immediately, the city gate opened wide, and hundreds of black-armored soldiers swarmed out, wielding long swords to chop left and right.  With the sharp blades and precious armor in their hands, they were like gods of death, harvesting lives at will, turning the city gate into a bloody and muddy Shura hell.

It only took a few minutes for them to seize the two assault vehicles and advance into the city gate with shouts.  The soldiers chasing them retreated hastily after several rounds of arrow attacks, leaving corpses everywhere.

Duis decisively issued the order to withdraw his troops.

"Order officers from the 1st, 15th, and 22nd divisions and above to come to the headquarters for a meeting!" He ordered the messenger next to him.

"Link, your mercenary group is indeed very strong. However, are you too naive to rely on these hundreds of people to defend Cole City?" Duis sneered and glanced at the top of the city tower, then turned around and strode forward  Leave.  (To be continued.)
