Kaneko Naoyoshi stayed in his office and smoked cigarettes one after another. The chief executive of Suzuki Trading Company, Japan's largest trading company, now encountered the biggest problem in his life.

Suzuki Trading Co., Ltd., together with Mitsui and Mitsubishi, are known as Japan's three major chaebols. Unlike Mitsui and Mitsubishi, Suzuki Trading Co., Ltd. first started out as a sugar trader.  As a sugar trader, Shosuzuki Trading Company has established a huge sales network around the world.

With the establishment and improvement of the sales network, Suzuki began to get involved in the sales of other products.  Notable among them was the grain trade, whose prosperity reached its peak in the 1920s.  A novel wrote: "One in 10 ships sailing on the Suez Canal is owned by Suzuki of Japan, and its logo can be seen on seas around the world."

With the expansion of trade scale, Kaneko Naoyoshi was no longer satisfied with being just a trader, and he began to invest in industry.  Beer, steel, chemicals, textiles, shipbuilding, Suzuki Trading Company is involved in more and more industries.

With the outbreak of World War I, Japan received arms orders from the West.  Suzuki Trading Company also made a fortune during this war, with its assets increasing more than a hundred times.  Kaneko Naoyoshi even had the idea of ??developing Suzuki Trading Company into Japan's largest and the world's top chaebol.

Unfortunately, the good times did not last long. After the end of World War I, Japanese companies that worked frantically during the war suddenly lost a lot of orders.  Many factories began to semi-closed operations, and Suzuki Trading Co., Ltd. was no exception.

Especially in the newly built shipyards during the war, thousands of workers are waiting for orders to start work.  Naturally, Naokichi Kaneko would not sit still and wait for death. He tried every means to lobby the military to propose a new shipbuilding plan.  Just when the new plan was about to pass.  A piece of bad news came.  Japan signed the "Washington Treaty". The size of Japan's navy was limited by the treaty, and new shipbuilding plans could only be delayed indefinitely.

This is not the worst. The Great Kanto Earthquake in 1924 caused Suzuki Trading Co., Ltd. to suffer heavy losses.  Suzuki, who had been struggling to survive after the war, was even worse this time. Unable to survive, Naokichi Kaneko began to plead for help from the Bank of Taiwan.

Taiwan Bank has a close relationship with Suzuki Trading Co., so it is naturally willing to provide financing to Suzuki Trading Co., Ltd.  Due to the poor economic environment in Japan, Suzuki Trading Co. cannot collect the money.  As a result, the financing provided by Taiwanese banks to Suzuki Trading Company gradually turned into non-performing debt.  In order to ensure that Suzuki Trading Company continued to operate, banks had to continue to provide loans to Suzuki Trading Company, thus forming a vicious cycle.  Dragging each other down.  Both Bank of Taiwan and Suzuki Trading Co. were in dire straits.

The appearance of a person changed everything, and this person was Mori Guangzang.  After discovering that the bank had too many bad debts, he decided to refuse to continue providing loans to Suzuki Merchant.  The current Suzuki Trading Company is like a vegetative person who cannot breathe on his own.  Bank loans are like ventilators that produce oxygen.  Without the loan, Suzuki was immediately on the verge of bankruptcy, and now it was just the straw that broke the camel's back.

The straw came quickly, on March 14, 1927.  When answering questions from opposition members of the House of Representatives Budget Committee, Kataoka Naohan, the Minister of Finance in Japan's Wakatsuki Cabinet, inadvertently said, "Tokyo Watanabe Bank will declare bankruptcy."  At that time, Japanese banks all had problems of one kind or another, and Watanabe Bank was no exception, but they had not yet reached the point of bankruptcy.

¡°But the public didn¡¯t know so much, especially after the news was published in the newspapers, long lines of people lined up at the doors of Watanabe Bank branches.  Watanabe Bank reluctantly announced its closure, and the Japanese people seemed to suddenly feel that their money was still safe in their pockets.  The bank run spread from Watanabe Bank to all banks.  More and more banks announced closures, which became Japan's famous Showa financial panic.

Faced with the bank¡¯s debt pressure, Kaneko Naoki tried every means.  The result is that nothing can be done.  He even felt that even Amaterasu could not save him. The only thing he could do now was to declare Suzuki Trading Company bankrupt after the shareholders' meeting.

Kaneko Naoyoshi¡¯s office was quickly shrouded in smoke. After his secretary Yoshida Aohara knocked on the door and came in, he was choked by the oncoming smoke and burst into tears.

"Yoshida, what's the matter?" Kaneko Naoyoshi's feeble voice came from the smoke.

"Big shopkeeper. There is a foreigner who wants to see you." Yoshida Sohara took out his handkerchief and wiped his tears. Hearing Kaneko Naoyoshi's question, he quickly lowered his head and answered.

"Foreigner? Who is it? What business does he have with me?" As the boss of Suzuki Trading Company, Kaneko Naokichi had seen too many foreigners, and he couldn't remember who would come to him at this time.

"I don't know, he said he is from American Star Flag Bank. He can help us tide over the difficulties."

"People from Star Flag Bank? Are you saying it's true?" When Kaneko Naoki heard the four words Star Flag Bank, he jumped up from his seat, walked to the door in two or two steps and held on tightly.Yoshida Sohara asked with a trembling voice.

¡°This is not to blame for Kaneko Naoyoshi¡¯s loss of composure, the news is really shocking.  You must know that this is Star Flag Bank, a bank that has loaned US$4 billion to the Chinese government.  I remember when I first learned the news, I imagined that even if I was given $4 million, I could get through this difficulty.

"It's true, he is still waiting in the reception room." Yoshida Aohara nodded and said.

"How can we keep such a distinguished guest waiting for so long? Please tidy up my office immediately, and I will lead the distinguished guest to my office." After receiving the affirmative answer, Kaneko Naoki swept away his previous decadence and raised his legs to ask for help.  Go outside.

"Wait a moment, big shopkeeper." Yoshida Sohara stopped Kaneko Naokichi.

"What's the matter? Yoshida-kun? Do you have anything else to do?" Naokichi Kaneko asked with some dissatisfaction.

"Your body smells of cigarette smoke. Do you want to change your clothes?" Yoshida Aohara asked cautiously.

Kaneko Naoyoshi raised his sleeves and smelled it, and sure enough, it smelled like smoke.  Looking back at the office, although the smoke inside was lighter, I could still see clearly. It would only be more rude to entertain distinguished guests in such a room.

"I'm going to take a shower. You can ventilate my office immediately, get some spices to remove the smell, and find me some clean clothes." Naokichi Kaneko knew that he couldn't meet the distinguished guests like this, so he thought for a moment and ordered.

"Yes, the big shopkeeper." Yoshida Aohara bowed and responded.

After a long while, Kaneko Naokichi, who was washed clean and put on new clothes, came to the living room in high spirits.  Through the glass on the door, I saw a foreigner in his 30s, sitting there drinking tea, with two public relations people in kimono sitting next to him.

Naokichi Kaneko adjusted his clothes subconsciously, opened the door and walked in.

Seeing the big shopkeeper coming in, the two public relations officers stood up quickly.

"Okay, I don't have anything to do with you, go out!" Naokichi Kaneko waved to the two of them and told them to leave.

"Hello, Mr. Naoyoshi Kaneko, I am Thomas Gibson, the deputy manager of Star Flag Bank Asia." The foreigner did not even stop and introduced himself in fluent Japanese.

If it was normal for others to be so arrogant to him, Kaneko Naokichi would definitely walk away.  But today, when facing the deputy manager of Star Flag Bank Asia, Kaneko Naokichi not only showed no displeasure, but believed that this was the style that a manager of a big bank should have.  If the other person was polite to him, he would even doubt whether this person was really from Star Flag Bank.

"Hello, Mr. Gibson, I am Kaneko Naoyoshi, the big boss of Suzuki Trading Co., Ltd., and your Japanese is the best among the foreigners I have ever met." While sighing in his heart at the grandeur of the big bank, Kaneko Naoyoshi was deeply moved.  He bowed deeply and introduced himself.

"Mr. Jinzi, you're very flattering, I've only learned a little bit." Gibson's face turned into a chrysanthemum with a smile, but he was still modest.

"You are really too modest. Please drink tea." Naokichi Kaneko poured Gibson a cup of tea and sat down on his knees.

"Haha, I've drunk enough tea. I won't be polite to you anymore. Let's talk about serious things." Gibson smiled and said.

"I'm really sorry to keep you waiting for so long. Please speak." After hearing what he said, Kaneko Naoki immediately bowed his head and apologized, then sat upright, pretending to be listening.

"I know that Suzuki Trading Co., Ltd. is facing very big difficulties now, and our Star Flag Bank's business is not just in the financial field, so we are willing to inject capital into Suzuki Trading Co., Ltd. and become a shareholder of Suzuki Trading Co., Ltd. This is a win-win choice for us,  Suzuki Trading Company can get out of trouble, and we can also expand our business in Japan." Gibson did not hide anything and went straight to the topic.

"Facing very big difficulties? Where did you get the news from? I think you have some misunderstandings. Our Suzuki Trading Company has always been in good operating conditions" Kaneko Naoyoshi said with a surprised look. He is well versed in negotiation skills.  , you cannot let others know your situation casually, otherwise this foreigner will not know how to kill you!

Before he could finish speaking, Gibson stood up and said with a displeased look on his face: "Since you said that, you got the wrong information, so I won't interrupt you and take my leave!"

After saying that, Gibson started to walk out.

"Mr. Gibson, please stay!" Naokichi Kaneko panicked when he saw Gibson like this and shouted loudly.  He didn't expect this foreigner to be like this. He got up and left after a disagreement.

This is actually a mistake made by Kaneko Naoyoshi. Suzuki is facing huge difficulties. Nine out of ten Japanese people know this.  It¡¯s still hidden at this time,Of course Bushen walked away.

"What's the matter? Mr. Kaneko Naoyoshi, do you have anything else to do?" Gibson turned around and asked coldly.

"I'm really sorry, I just made a mistake. Our Suzuki Trading Company is indeed facing difficulties. Please help us overcome this difficulty!" Kaneko Naokichi couldn't care less about negotiation skills this time. He bowed his body and lowered his head in request.  road.  (To be continued)
