September 20, 1926.  Zhang Anle issued the order for the final blow against the rebel army in the south, and the National Defense Forces assembled in Jiangxi and Fujian launched a fierce attack on the Northern Expeditionary Army at the same time.

"Reporting to the commander-in-chief, the Anyi front line has reported that at 6 o'clock this morning, the enemy launched a fierce attack on our defensive position."

Chiang Kai-shek had just entered the headquarters and before he had time to take a drink of water, a staff officer walked in and reported.

"I understand." Chiang Kai-shek nodded to the staff officer and said.

The staff officer saluted him and turned to leave.

Is this day coming?  Chiang Kai-shek felt a pain in his heart. He knew that he and Zhang Anle were no longer on the same level as opponents. This was probably the final decisive battle.

"Commander-in-Chief." Zhang Qun walked in with a folder in hand.

"Yue Jun, you are here." Chiang Kai-shek looked at this good friend who traveled east to Japan to study with him, and his heart became even more painful.

At that time, my friend thought that he had the status of an emperor, and thought that by following him, he could become a marquis and become a prime minister.  The two have supported and encouraged each other along the way. Without this good friend, I don't know what I would be like.

"Commander-in-Chief, today the Northern Army launched an all-out attack. Our army suffered heavy casualties, and I'm afraid there is nothing we can do to save the day." When Zhang Qun said this, he felt very uncomfortable, for his own ideals were shattered, and for seeing the end of Chiang Kai-shek's hero  And sad.

"Perhaps this day has been doomed for a long time. Even if there is no Zhang Anle, there will be Li Anle and Wang Anle. It is not until today that I can truly understand the sadness of Zhou Gongjin's sentence: "How can a bright future be born when a good one is born." Chiang Kai-shek did not say anything about the situation to Zhang Qun.  War, but talked about the Three Kingdoms.  He believed that it was fate that he would fail.

Zhang Qun heard what Chiang Kai-shek meant and didn't know what to say for a moment. He knew that once people talk about fate, they have despaired of reality. He didn't know whether he should show Chiang Kai-shek what he was holding.

¡°Okay, let¡¯s not talk about this anymore. Let me see what documents you have in your hand.¡± Chiang Kai-shek knew that Zhang Qun¡¯s visit at this time was not just about the heavy casualties of the troops.

Zhang Qun opened the folder in his hand and handed a telegram to Chiang Kai-shek. At the same time, he paid attention to Chiang Kai-shek's changes. There were no expressions of anger, disdain, sneer, or bitter smile that he expected.  Chiang Kai-shek looked calm.  It was hard to tell whether he was happy or sad from his face.

Zhang Qun¡¯s telegram to Chiang Kai-shek was Zhang Anle¡¯s letter of persuasion to surrender. In the letter, Zhang Anle asked Chiang Kai-shek to put the great cause of the nation first and the lives of the people of Fujian and Jiangxi and the soldiers of the two armies.  Advise him to surrender.  Zhang Anle promised not to arrest or care about Chiang Kai-shek. If he wanted to, he could go to Beijing to attend the National Day ceremony together and become a member of the parliament.  If he wants to live in Tianjin or Shanghai, that's no problem.

"Do you think I should agree to him?" Chiang Kai-shek put down the telegram in his hand and asked.

"Yes." Zhang Qun said softly. He knew that Chiang Kai-shek was not asking him if he should, but asking him to guess whether he would.

"Are you so sure?" Chiang Kai-shek asked.

"The Commander-in-Chief is a benevolent, filial and generous person, and he will naturally agree to Zhang Anle's request." Zhang Qun's words were half compliments and half truths.

"Well, just agree to him. Since our failure is a foregone conclusion, why do we need to bring so many people to be buried with us?" Chiang Kai-shek said calmly.

On September 21, 1926, the fifteenth day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar, Chiang Kai-shek announced his unconditional surrender in Nanchang.  Order all Northern Expeditionary Army officers and soldiers to lay down their weapons and surrender.  At this point, the Northern Expedition ended, and China once again completed its situational unification.

As the commander-in-chief of the Northern Expedition, Chiang Kai-shek rejected Zhang Anle's invitation to attend the upcoming National Day ceremony and went to Nanyang with some staunch followers of the Three People's Principles.

On October 10, 1926, a celebration to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of China was held in Beijing.  Zhang Anle, Gu Weijun, Zhang Xueliang, Lin Changmin.  There were also prominent political figures of the Republic of China: Liang Qichao, Li Yuanhong, Duan Qirui, Wu Peifu, Yan Xishan, etc., who boarded the Tiananmen Gate Tower. Tens of thousands of people in the capital Beijing also participated in the celebration.

At 10 o'clock sharp, Beijing Mayor Lin Changmin announced loudly: "The gathering of all walks of life in the capital to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of China begins now! Fire a gun salute!"

56 salute guns fired together, and the roaring salute resounded over Beijing. The fifteen gun shots represented the fifteen years of the Republic of China.

"I would like to invite Zhang Anle, the provisional ruler of the Republic of China and commander-in-chief of the National Defense Forces of the Republic of China, to speak."

Stand in front of the microphone.  Zhang Anle's nervousness just now was suddenly thrown away.  He spread out his speech and began to speak:

¡°My fellow countrymen, comrades, and friends!

Today we have a grand gathering to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of China.?At this festive yet solemn moment, on behalf of the Senate and the State Council, I would like to express my deep remembrance to all the revolutionary ancestors and martyrs who have made immortal contributions to the national independence, the founding of the Republic of China, and the reunification of the country.

Fifteen years ago today, our revolutionary predecessors established a military government in Wuchang and opened a new chapter in Chinese history.

    ¡¡

Today, our country has truly achieved reunification. During this period, we have experienced the melee of protecting the country, protecting the law, and warlords big and small.  People's lives have not changed fundamentally because of the establishment of the Republic of China. Now all this will be a thing of the past!

History has taught us that the road ahead is never smooth, but the people who take control of their own destiny and unite will overcome all difficulties and obstacles and continue to create great historical achievements.

Looking forward to the future, China's development prospects are infinitely bright. People of all ethnic groups in the country must unite more closely and strive to build a prosperous, democratic, and civilized country!

Long live the great Chinese people!  Long live the great Republic of China!  "

As Zhang Anle shouted the last two sentences loudly, tens of thousands of people at the scene raised their arms and shouted: "Long live the great Chinese people! Long live the great Republic of China!"

After Zhang Anle¡¯s speech, the highlight of today¡¯s celebration was the military parade.

? ? **In addition to Chinese dignitaries, there were also some foreigners who were invited to participate.  A large part of their main purpose is to attend the military parade. After all, large-scale military parades have rarely appeared before, let alone witnessed them with their own eyes!

A sudden burst of neat footsteps came from the noisy sound. The sound got louder and louder, and the whole place fell silent for a moment.  Looking to the east, you can already see the honor guard walking at the front.

They are soldiers selected from the army who are between 177-182cm tall. They wear brand-new military uniforms and brand-new military boots.  The guns in their hands were all new guns that had been uniformly issued for the military parade. The soldiers walked into the square with neat steps and to the drumbeat of the military band.

The three soldiers at the front and the soldier in the middle are wearing army uniforms and holding the five-color army flag of the Republic of China.  The soldier on the left is wearing a navy uniform and holding a blue sky with a white sun and a red navy flag on the ground. The soldier on the right is wearing an air force uniform and holding a blue sky with a white sun flag newly designated as the air force flag.

The honor guard behind them was also wearing the military uniforms of the three armed forces and marching forward in goose.

Behind the honor guard were the 1st Battalion and 2nd Company of the 2nd Brigade of the Direct Division, which Zhang Anle called the Tiger Company. Zhao Erlingzi walked past the front holding the Tiger Company flag high with excitement on his face.

After the nine infantry formations, there is the cavalry formation. In addition to the original cavalry of the directly affiliated division, the cavalry participating in the parade also includes the cavalry of the Mongolian Living Buddha who participated in the battle against the Soviet Union, as well as the cavalry units from the Northeast.

Each cavalry unit has thirty-six horses, six vertically and six horizontally, and the colors of the horses in each square are exactly the same.

Every time a formation passes by, there will be an on-site commentary introducing the unit.  The troops who made meritorious service in the Sino-Soviet War received the largest and warmest applause.

After the four cavalry formations came the artillery formations, 75, 102, 105, and 120. Field artillery of various calibers slowly passed by under the tow of cars.

After the 8 field artillery formations, there is the highlight that many people want to see today, the tank unit.

32 tanks, 2 in a row, made a rumbling sound and drove past the city.  Just when everyone thought the military parade was coming to an end, there was a roar from the sky.

The excited crowd looked to the sky to see the air force being reviewed.  Six planes formed an echelon, and a total of six echelons flew over Hong Kong. Many people excitedly threw their hats and newspapers into the sky.

Watching the formations passing by below, the people on the tower had their own thoughts.  Dignitaries who have passed their prime, such as Li Yuanhong and others, will lament the strength of the army. Yan Xishan, Zhang Zhijiang and others who were defeated by Zhang Anle are relieved that they have made the right choice.

As for the foreign spectators, their expressions varied. The British were relatively happy. The stronger China, as a quasi-ally, would be more beneficial to them.  The spectators from Japan and the Soviet Union looked unhappy. First of all, they had both been defeated by this army, and there was also the possibility of war breaking out between them and China.  As for the United States and France, they are considering whether it is time to strengthen cooperation with China.

It was already afternoon after the military parade, and the people gradually dispersed.  The soldiers who had been prepared for a long time cleaned up the square. As night fell, the city that had been noisy for a day returned to the tranquility of the imperial city in the past.
