Although Lu Jianzhang's temporary withdrawal of troops to the east to Vyazniki was a helpless move, it was also a good move.  With its back to Nizhny Novgorod, Vyazniki controls the main route from the Volga River region to Moscow. It can be attacked or defended, firmly blocking the Soviet Red Army's offensive route, and in Nizhny Novgorod.  Echoing the front and back, we remain invincible.

Having received reinforcements from the three Frunze fronts, Stalin could not wait to launch a counterattack against Vyazniki's Central Army Regiment.  Frunze was opposed to this order. In his opinion, although the situation in Moscow had improved, the enemy troops were retreating on their own initiative and were particularly powerful. Not to mention that as the enemy retreated to Vyazniki, they had to obtain air force support.  More powerful than before.  What's more, the Chinese also have powerful armored forces. There is a large plain area to the west of Vyazniki, which is very suitable for tank activities. A reckless counterattack will cause great losses.

In addition to this, there is a bigger problem, that is, with the increase in the Moscow garrison, the number of troops in the Moscow area now reaches nearly 2 million.  So many troops, especially the more than 1 million newly formed Red Army, are far from insufficient in terms of equipment and training.  These troops look huge, but their combat effectiveness is not even half that of the previous Red Army. In addition, the troops lack a large number of middle and lower-level officers, which leads to inconvenient command and even separation from command during combat.

What¡¯s more, Moscow has added so many troops at once, and its logistics is also a huge problem.  In recent years, the Soviet Union has suffered from natural disasters and serious food shortages. Even the supply of food and daily necessities in the capital Moscow has adopted a restricted distribution method.  Now, this distribution ratio has been compressed to the extreme. The daily rations provided to Moscow citizens are not even enough for their children. However, even so, the troops' supplies are still seriously insufficient. Although the Supreme Soviet has seized the time to mobilize food from various places,  But a drop in the bucket still cannot meet demand.

The most important thing in a war is logistics.  As a senior general of the Red Army and an outstanding military strategist, Frunze was very aware of this. He suggested to Stalin that there was no need to make unnecessary counterattacks at this time, but that we should take this opportunity to seize the opportunity to train the troops and further improve Moscow's defense work.  , to prepare for the next war.

This suggestion of Frunze was rejected by Stalin. In Stalin's view, no issue is as important as a real victory.  As long as the counterattack is successful.  It can greatly boost the morale of all soldiers and civilians, which is very important for achieving the final victory of the war.  Stalin believed that as long as the Soviets maintained a spirit of unity, the Red Army armed with Bolshevism could not defeat anything, and victory would eventually belong to the Soviets and the Red Army.

Of course, Stalin also considered logistical issues. At Dzerzhinsky¡¯s suggestion, Stalin agreed to send food requisition teams to various places.  Collect necessary food for Moscow.  Dzerzhinsky lived up to Stalin's high expectations and achieved great results soon after sending out the grain collection team. Truck after truck of food was transported to Moscow from all over the country, giving Stalin the confidence to fight back firmly.

Dzerzhinsky¡¯s contribution made him have a higher status in Stalin¡¯s heart and gained Stalin¡¯s trust even more.  As for Frunze, because they did not return reinforcements immediately, and after arriving in Moscow with the troops, they kept talking about the enemy's strength in front of Stalin.  Not only did they oppose Stalin's counterattack plan, but they also talked endlessly about logistics and training.  This particularly disgusted Stalin.

Although, for political purposes, Stalin awarded Frunze the rank of Marshal and the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, in the subsequent counterattack, Stalin almost abandoned Frunze and deprived him of the right to command the troops.  And this right was given to Stalin and he performed well in the defense of Moscow.  Comrade Dzerzhinsky has a firm political stance.

Dzerzhinsky is basically a man who enjoys great achievements. During the battle to defend Moscow, he waited until Frunze's reinforcements came back, thus successfully completing the mission.  Then, his grain requisition team went around like bandits to rob people of people's food rations in the name of revolution, which won Stalin's favor.  Now.  He was awarded the rank of marshal by Stalin, and he took over the command of the counterattack from Frunze, who was much older and more prestigious. This made Dzerzhinsky's heart swell greatly. In his opinion, he had so much in his hands.  With powerful troops, especially the elite main forces of the three fronts, it was easy to repel the Chinese who had retreated to Vyazniki.

To this end, Dzerzhinsky found someone to work out a counterattack plan. This plan basically understood Comrade Stalin's fast, ferocious, and determined thinking, and was quickly recognized by Comrade Stalin.  A few days later, Dzerzhinsky gathered 800,000 troops and started this vigorous counterattack with thunderous momentum, and stormed from Vladimir to Vyazniki in one go.

Facing the ferocious Soviet Red Army, Lu Jianzhang¡¯s army did not panic. They quickly built an army after they withdrew to Vyazniki. On the front line, we are ready to wait for the enemy's arrival.  Although in terms of strength, the Red Army troops were almost four times as many as the Chinese *** Regiment, the outcome of the war was not entirely determined by the number of troops. Moreover, relying on the defense line, the elite Chinese *** Regiment not only did not take a step back, but fought vigorously.

From the beginning of the counterattack, the Soviet Red Army suffered a heavy blow. Under the three-dimensional defense of the Vyazniki Line of Defense, the offensive troops suffered heavy losses. On the first day alone, a cavalry corps of the Red Army, which was responsible for the main attack mission, was in the prepared position.  Almost all the men of the Chinese Communist Regiment were wiped out. Just when Dzerzhinsky, who had mobilized his troops after the attack was frustrated, had just sent three infantry divisions and one cavalry division up again, the Chinese armored troops and air force suddenly appeared.  It took no amount of effort to repulse another attack by the Red Army.

This is considered merciful by Lu Jianzhang, otherwise it would be possible to eat these four troops in one go.  However, for the sake of the war situation, Lu Jianzhang's defense still tended to be conservative, mainly to attract the enemy's attention here and create conditions for subsequent troop movements.

From June 30 to July 5, in less than a week, the 800,000 counterattack troops organized by the Soviet Red Army made no progress at all in front of the Chinese. In six consecutive days of fighting, the Red Army lost about 70,000 troops.  The Chinese losses were less than one-tenth of the Red Army's. Such a huge gap made Dzerzhinsky, who commanded the battle, almost go crazy.

When accepting the mission, Dzerzhinsky patted his chest and promised Stalin, but he has gained nothing in the counterattack so far. Even the Chinese positions cannot be broken through due to the huge casualties.  As time passed, Dzerzhinsky became as anxious as an ant on a hot pot.

"Pull up all the cannons and give me a fierce blast! We must break through the enemy's position today, and no one is allowed to take a step back!" The furious Dzerzhinsky's eyes turned red, and he took out his unique move -  Supervise the team.  About a regiment of supervising troops set up machine guns behind the attacking troops. Whenever they found any troops retreating, they would shoot down their own troops mercilessly without hesitation.

Regarding this method, the commanders who were in charge of the offensive were also willing to risk their lives. Anyway, going forward would lead to death, and retreating would lead to death. At this moment, a desperate posture broke out. On July 6, the battle situation was unprecedentedly fierce. An offensive force  Immediately after the light was fired, a troop came up and attacked the Chinese position repeatedly and frantically.

Around four o'clock in the afternoon, Dzerzhinsky at the headquarters finally received the good news. After a hard fight, the Red Army soldiers finally opened a gap and broke into the Chinese position.

Dzerzhinsky danced with excitement and led his people to the front line. Watching the waves of troops charging forward, he picked up the trumpet and shouted: "Attack! Keep attacking! Heroic Red Army soldiers! You are the  Invincible! Let us capture Vyazniki in one fell swoop and drive the Chinese devils down the Volga River completely! Comrades! Soldiers! Commanders and fighters! The people of the motherland are watching you! Comrade Stalin is waiting for the good news of your triumphal return.  ! Attack!"
