20 minutes before the start of the Magic Network on August 9, 1666

Free Army Temporary Headquarters on the outskirts of Blenheim-sur-Metz in the Republic of Jourlock (after the third relocation)

    *********

    Blenheim upon Metz.

The Blenheim detachment of the Western General Army, commanded by Major General Bluto Luther, is fighting fiercely with the Feigota Army heading south.  This is the sixth day of the double battle between Jena and Blenheim.  The fighting in the Blenheim area has been going on for a full week.

If the Battle of Rennie is a fierce and exciting movie, and the Battle of Jena is a one-act opera, then the Battle of Blenheim is a TV series, which is dull most of the time, but when it comes to key episodes, it is  It¡¯s so exciting.

Starting on August 4th, Duke Feigota launched a wave-like offensive against the Free Army on the south bank.  The elven reinforcements had successfully reached the right wing of the emperor's army the day before yesterday, covering the entire battlefield from the side, expanding the strength advantage of the entire battlefield to two to one.

Fortunately, the Elf Army just pretended to be fighting hard. The entire front still relied on the Feigota Army to launch attacks, and was defeated time and time again by the Major General and his army.

The Metz River, which is not too wide, looks like an insurmountable chasm. There are more than two thousand Fegota corpses between the Upper Russell and the Lower Russell.

¡ª¡ªUntil the morning of August 9th.

At sunrise that day, the Free Soldiers were surprised to find that the Feigota people with shining silver armor rushed out from the position originally held by the Elf Army.

This transfer is a secret transfer.  Marquis Cavendish von Fegota led his army into the Elf camp at two o'clock in the morning. He secretly mobilized eight battalions of phalanxes and crossed the river in columns from the Saint-Sen Army's position, breaking through the Free Army's defense in one fell swoop.  With a weak left wing, the elves followed them to consolidate the victory.

The headquarters of the Free Army carried out a second move in a panic to get away from the bombardment of the Shengsen Artillery, but this was only the beginning of the nightmare.

After Bluto put almost all the reserves on the left wing to reorganize the defense line, Bl¨¹cher's department on the right wing began to cross the river under the cover of the Maid Artillery.  This was also a determined and unusual attack - just as they knew that the Free Army had almost no spare reserves.

Soon, the right wing was also breached, the defense line retreated into the town of Blenheim, and the Free Army headquarters was forced to move for the third time.  They abandoned the Metz River defense line and almost all of Blenheim and retreated to the village of Grau on the Metebish River.  On the defensive line, the artillery positions outside Blenheim were almost their last resort.

More than nine battalions of infantry defended Blenheim, resisting Bl¨¹cher's attacks again and again, and another seven battalions resisted the artillery bombardment of the Elf-Cavendish coalition on the left.  The logistics staff of the Free Army have already begun to burn the materials in the town that may not have time to move.

Under such difficult circumstances, the afternoon combat meeting was still held, but there was an air of uneasiness around the conference table.

The headquarters after the third move was located in a hillside church outside the village of Kalaw. This church belonged to the Park Religious Order, one of the four mainline Protestant orders. The pastor in charge had already fled, leaving only a large area behind.  Unguarded cemetery.  Every battalion staff officer would feel an unspeakable depression next to this cemetery when he rode back from his battalion.

The number of people attending the staff meeting was nearly half less than it should have been. It was natural that a large number of commanders of the frontline troops and officers of the disintegrated battalions did not show up. But for some reason, even Major General Bluto Luther himself was delayed.  Didn't show up.  The staff officers who rushed back from the front line could no longer bear it and began to exchange information on the battle situation on their respective fronts.

"It's nothing to do with the Holy Forest Army. Their regimental flags are put up as usual only if they are cheap. If they are not cheap, they will not move at all. But General Cavendish is really amazing. Our artillery keeps bombarding, and he actually  He patrolled the front line despite the shelling for two hours, and we were all panicked."

"If we don't push all the reserves to the left wing, I'm afraid we will all collapse in the first attack." Another captain and battalion commander lamented, "But this will lead to a serious shortage of troops on the right wing. Have you heard what the Marshal said?  Oriental fable?¡±

    "Which fable?"

"It was told during the Second Battle of Kengel, the story about the Eastern king and his minister racing each other. The minister used his superior horse against the king's medium horse, and used his medium horse against the king's inferior horse, and thus won the victory. Look.  Get up, he is implementing this strategy now, and we are the inferior horses now."

¡°You¡¯re already five minutes late.¡± Finally, a famous battalion staff officer couldn¡¯t hold himself back and asked a headquarters combat staff officer, ¡°?"Why haven't you come back yet?"  "

"Your Excellency, the Major General, went to the Blenheim front line forty minutes ago and personally directed the battle there. An Overlord was of great help to the battle. When I left, Your Excellency, he seemed to be still on the front line, with the five men in the inner city.  The commanders of the two battalions are together."

Another staff officer returning from the right wing explained: "To fight against that madman Bl¨¹cher, our strength is far from enough. We have almost lost all of Blenheim, and the enemy's well-prepared battalions are charging one after another.  Once we entered the town, we could barely maintain our offensive on the outside. We didn't have the upper hand in the artillery battle, those female artillerymen were too accurate."

"There is only one question in my statement." The speaker was a battalion commander on the left wing. "How many reserves do we have? It is already very difficult for the cavalry squadrons to cover the battlefield. The infantry is suppressed to death by the opponent on the left and right wings.  Damn it, if we continue to fight like this, we will only be defeated! Where are our reinforcements? Since Jena has won the battle, when will the reinforcements from over there arrive? "

"And the theme of this staff meeting is that there will be no follow-up reinforcements."

Hearing this gloomy voice, all the staff members jumped up from their chairs like springs and saluted at the door.

"Marshal Lopez left his reserves in Jena. Jena has won, which also means that we do not have enough troops. So, now let us hold a combat meeting of the Blenheim detachment."

Their commander walked in from the door and placed his general on the table. Three tired-looking officers followed behind him.  There was silence in the entire church, and only the voice of the major general's statement could be heard.

"I swear on the honor of Major General Bluto Luther of the Free Army that everything I say next is what I believe to be true. If there is something that I cannot be sure of or don't know, I will make it clear."

Eighty percent of the officers and one hundred percent of the non-commissioned officers did not hear their commander's routine oath because they only noticed the change in his appearance.

Pluto Luther¡¯s major general uniform was completely soaked in blood, and the enemy¡¯s blood was still dripping from his sleeves. He looked like a murderer who had just finished his work.  That was in no way like Chen's status as a Reformation bishop or a former senator, and was in sharp contrast to his usual elegance and gentleness.

More than one person is thinking: Has the war situation deteriorated to this extent?  Although the major general is almost the most powerful magic user in the entire army, it is not a good sign for the major general to have so much blood that he could use it for a bath in a battle.

And the major general's speech was completely in line with their expectations.

"Everyone, we are now under a full-scale attack by superior enemy forces. The enemy already knows about the tragic defeat of Jena. At the same time, they also know that we have no reserve team and know that Lopez's team is not in Blenheim. We want to  Put away all illusions, today is the decisive battle."

The former member of the Republic of Jourlock is as eloquent as ever.

"Although the first stage of defense in the morning was temporarily successful, the enemy has summoned their reserves to commit to Blenheim, and we have no soldiers left to commit to the right wing. Since I have to go to the right wing to organize defense next,  There will be no free speaking period in today's operational meeting, I will directly state the intelligence I know and issue orders."

The Major General¡¯s finger crossed the map and stopped over the town of Blenheim.  A few drops of black blood dripped from the end of his sleeves, staining the map. Luther rolled up his cuffs as if he suddenly understood, but he did not stop giving orders at all.

"Our troops will be divided into three parts. The heavy troops will remain stationary on the left wing, and the right wing will defend the south side of Blenheim, allowing the enemy to invest more troops into the town. The cavalry in the center will gradually release their array from now on.  , reduced from forty squadrons to fifteen squadrons, twenty-five squadrons withdrew and stood by behind Grau. The staff continued to retreat, preparing to abandon this command post."

All the staff members opened their mouths, thinking that their commander was crazy.

Someone shouted loudly: "Strengthen the left and right, but withdraw from the center? And then prepare for the fourth transfer?! Sir, there is no way to win this war! I have never heard of such a strategy of withdrawing from the center, nor have I heard of it."  Victory can be achieved by voluntarily giving up the highlands and villages!"

Pluto Luther glanced at the officer suddenly, and a bloody handprint was patted on the military map.

"I, no, we don't have time. Because there is one most important thing that will happen in twenty minutes. All the magic in this area will fail."

The major general spoke in an understatement, but those who were attentive could hear the urgency in it.

"Most of you should have read the report of the Jena army. The situation in twenty minutes will be worse than the 'magic mud' that occurred south of Jena. The swamp¡¯ phenomenon is more serious.  You immediately rush back to your respective camps and save all magic items from now on, leaving them for the decisive battle in twenty minutes.  If the enemy appears confused, defeat it immediately.  End of the meeting.  "

    "Sir, how do you know"

"Oracle." The Patriarch of the Reform Church replied, and no one asked another question immediately.  The entire Free Army, and even the entire South, could not find a few theologians who could compare with the major general in front of him. It was completely redundant to question him.

Then, the major general sat down in his chair, folded his hands, and began to pray.

The officers lowered their heads, covered their faces with the shadow of their military caps, walked out with complicated emotions, and went back to command their respective troops.

No one could hear the content of their commander's prayer.

    The content is like this.

"Sister, you think of miracles too easily! It's true that you can build the bottom layer through arcane magic, but the response and communication protocol of the upper layer have to rely on my theory of magic to build it. Otherwise, this whole  The Magic Network is just a bunch of interconnected magic flows! Besides, sooner or later, don¡¯t choose now! I can¡¯t even hold the Blenheim defense line! This is chaos! And this is not ordinary.  Chaos. This is complete chaos!"

¡°If it weren¡¯t for the transformation magic and the few remaining staff officers, Bonnie Sephiel would almost want to pull her hair out and curse.

?????? Miracles.  The sacred magic that she had tried many times but could never complete was a spell that was ranked at the top of sacred theory along with complete resurrection. Only the most pious priests or priests who had made the greatest contributions to religious theory could occasionally summon this great miracle.

The wish spell and the miracle spell feel very similar. They both make a request and then realize it through the magical power of magic.  However, the two methods of implementation are different.  The wish-making technique is like a power of attorney submitted. The means used to realize it must be reasonable, but you may need to spend some time to understand whether there is anything wrong with the way you make a wish, and to understand why it chooses such a means.  Miracle magic is more like a magic box that can conjure rabbits. It directly realizes the result to you. No matter how you think about it, you can't figure out what means are used to achieve this result. Most means are difficult to reconstruct rationally - or  Said that it cannot be reconstructed at the current level of magic science.

Of course, the latter is much more dangerous than the former.  Who knows how the black boxes of gods will understand the miracle you are praying for?

¡°One wrong word in a miracle can turn it into a damnation.¡± The history of the church is filled with examples of this.  Bonnie knew that the original version of this sentence was "just one word short of preaching and it would become heresy."  The effects that the miracle spell can achieve are more complex and powerful than the wish spell, but the relative reaction force is also more direct.

"There are still twenty minutes left. Including the propagation time, it's about thirty to forty minutes." Bonnie's crossed fingers pinched together tightly, and the knuckles hit each other, making a cracking sound. "It's not like there's no chance at all.  The method, if some dangerous techniques are used"

She stood up abruptly and looked around the church with tired, bloodshot eyes, looking at the statues of gods in the Protestant art style.

    "It's not completely impossible."

Ignoring the soldiers who were busy preparing to move the headquarters for the fourth time, she walked straight out of the door, turned over and climbed onto her horse.

"Go to Blenheim! Let the enemy put all their infantry into the town! Since our army is divided into two wings, they will definitely sort out the priority!"

There is only the last Guards company left.  She didn't know what Marshal Lopez was doing. She only knew that the reinforcements he had promised to transfer from Jena could not arrive in time.

But that doesn¡¯t matter.  Half an hour later the leyline reached Blenheim, and by then everything was decided.

"Isn't it just that all the magic has disappeared? It's no big deal, hasn't the enemy's magic also disappeared? Sister, if you can commandeer those magic powers, so can I."

The girl who had always maintained the magic of transformation muttered to herself in a voice that only she could hear, and rode her horse at full speed.

She didn¡¯t even realize that the false appearance she was maintaining was also a magical effect.
