    Early morning of August 8, 1666 (mday+129)

South of Jena? ※The Magic Quagmire§

    ***求求***求求***求求***求求***

Dragons are creatures that feed on magic.

Dragons are the incarnation of fear. They/they stand at the top of all living creatures, possessing near power, and will not hesitate to destroy the daily lives of millions of ordinary people.

"It was you who destroyed the order of magic."

Hearing Mara*s statement, Annie nodded quietly.

"In other words, you ended the magic he used to extend his life and vitality. It is impossible for that complex magic to continue to be maintained in this chaotic order, and this old Mr. Johannes does not have the ability to recreate such a magic.  ."

    Marla continued.  Anne nodded again.

"You also know that the water of life can only last a person's life for three days at most." Mara finally asked the question, "Then, why?"

There are many, many layers of meaning hidden in this question; there are too many things that Mara doesn*t know.  But there are some things that you don*t need to ask.

Anne pondered for a moment before saying: "First of all, you can rest assured that this is not my task. It is my private request and will not harm your Majesty's interests."

"Of course. Your mission has been completed." Mara said with a bitter smile.  As long as they see her here alone and injured, the other party will understand that the empire has been defeated on the northern front, and it has been completely defeated.

"I have something I want to entrust you to give to someone."

There seems to be only one thing that can satisfy this statement.  Mara asked tentatively: "Those observation records?"

"It's nice to be able to talk to smart people, no, dragons." Anne took out a box from under the table on the side. "Not all, but these are the essence of old Johannes's work. I would like to ask you to forward these manuscripts to those who want to  The man who figured out how to fix this mess, Isaac Newton. That's why I'm here waiting."

Marla didn*t answer the question.  The daughter of the silver dragon picked up the cup and took another sip of water.

"This was the old gentleman's last wish. After he was forced to leave the empire because his academic achievements were not recognized, he stayed here anonymously, used magic to extend his life and observed the starry sky for another forty years, perfecting it without the interference of magic.  I have the remaining observational data. I have to give these data to someone who can make good use of them."

This time Mara was a little moved.  "So, this person is a great magician〞〞"

"Yes, he was once the great magician of the empire. Johannes Kepler, the man who was ostracized by your astrologers."

Mara had a new question: "But, why?"

Annie thought for a while, lowered her voice, and told her reason in Mara's ear.  After hearing this reason, Yinlong no longer questioned it.

The two began to sort out the remaining records together.  They were like a pair of friends who had known each other for many years, sitting by a small lake full of life-giving water, drinking tea made from flower petals, and working together in tacit understanding.

At dawn, the man and the dragon finished all their work.  The papers recording the movements of the stars turned into a heavy box compressed by magic. Even with Anne's physical strength, she could barely drag it on the ground.

"Can I tell Isaac your reasons?" Mara lazily picked up the box with one hand and prepared to set off.

"Of course," Anne replied, "Wait a moment, I have to report the news to the old gentleman."

Anne walked into Orion*s hut, reported the results of her actions in Johannes Kepler*s ear, and introduced the person who would inherit his data.

After a while, she walked out, her sapphire-like eyes seemed to have tears on them.

From beginning to end, Mara never had the slightest thought of fighting.  She still remembered the process of fighting the incarnated demon yesterday; fighting someone who could summon such a demon was obviously not enough on her own.

She just hoped that she would never have to fight alone with the terrifying girl in front of her again.

On the way back to the farm, the daughter of the Silver Dragon kept thinking this.

    *********

The horses' hooves galloped over the hills and fields.  The silver-clad Royal Guards Cavalry galloped on the post road at dawn and rushed into the farm that had just calmed down.

"We are searching for enemy mages! Repeat! We are searching for enemy mages!"

The cavalrymen repeated their orders loudly, cut down the militiamen who tried to stop them, and rushed into the farm.

"Civilians! As long asWe can be safe by handing over all those without ID!  "

The leading cavalry officers and their mages jumped off their horses.

After the officer looked around with suspicion, he turned to the young and majestic mage and asked respectfully: "Sir Newton, is this the place you are looking for?"

"It shouldn't be far. I can start the next step of the repair work from here. Soon you will be able to use magic three miles from here to the previous point." The young and majestic mage Isaac Newton  Jazz replied.

In order to save the army, twenty-three-year-old Sir Isaac Newton was urgently summoned to the expeditionary force staff.  He stayed up all night and came up with a method to rebuild the magical structure of the swamp area to support the troops' continued march.  He wrote this method in a pamphlet and gave it to the military mages of each army, asking them to rebuild the magical order.

If Anne Seifer, who created this magical quagmire, was lucky enough to see this thin booklet, she would find that it would be the prototype of the core chapter of the famous "Principles of Natural Philosophy".  That book will unify the complicated magic theories to a more fundamental extent and pave the way for future magic development.

The so-called magic is a very magical thing.  People have discovered from a long time ago that magic is a kind of science and it can be repeated; but magic is also a kind of mystery and it is complex and changeable.  Arcana is magic, theology is magic, alchemy is magic, astrology is magic, Confucianism is magic, and the Yellow Turban is magic.  There are also a large number of magical creatures that exist naturally and are not affected by these magical theories.  This problem has troubled generations of sages and magical scientists, making them rack their brains but get nothing, until Newton wrote "Principles of Natural Philosophy".

? If metaphorical, it is more like geometry.  Euclid invented the first system of geometric logic, a huge system based on five axioms; but if you replace the fifth axiom, you can derive more completely different geometries.  Euclid had geometry, and of course Lobachevsky and Riemann could also have geometry.  The science that determines magic is the same as psychodynamics. It is a science based on postulates.  As long as a magic theory can justify itself, new logic and different realities will emerge, and a new magic system will emerge.  People and magical creatures can approach the origin through various magical theories, but in the final analysis, "Only belief determines power."

Of course the cavalry officer didn*t understand this.  He looked in awe at the great magician who was starting to work, and retreated with his guards: "Then let's go to work, sir."

Newton took out his magic book, grabbed a handful of silver powder in the palm of his hand and slowly sprinkled it on the ground, and began to chant a spell, trying to restore the magical order nearby.  The officer led his cavalry into the farm owner's dining room.

People in the restaurant had panic on their faces.  The farmer kept at hand an iron sand gun, the type favored by musket hunters, and his hand rested on it.

"I have provided a lot of assistance to your army! You'd better understand this-"

"We are searching for a woman," the leading officer rudely interrupted the host's protest, "an injured woman. She is a very powerful magician, she may not be a woman, or she may be hiding her wounds; but you should  You can see the difference between her and ordinary people.§

The sleepy-eyed people looked at each other timidly, and this small gesture did not escape the officer's eyes.

"Aha, you know. A beautiful female mage who was seriously injured, trying to hide her scars. She has been here."

Only the farmer remained calm: "Is she a criminal? Can I ask what she has done?"

Hearing this question, the cavalry officer*s lips twisted.  His fingers turned purple due to congestion, and he held the hilt of the sword tightly, as if "that woman" was waiting for him to kill her.

"That's a demon that lives around here. It's the common enemy of you southerners and us northerners! That demon is extremely cruel and does all kinds of evil. She destroyed countless villages and small towns, and brought down so many of our great magicians and priests.  They turned into corpses! Twenty-seven transport teams were brutally destroyed, and all the dead were burned to ashes! We have lost one court magician, seven gold and silver badges, two chief bishops,  Three bishops, thirty-nine generals and officers! Fortunately, we have brave warriors, wise magicians and evil-destroying priests. They fought together and finally severely damaged this female devil who fell into the trap yesterday afternoon!"

"Oh, what happened next?" The farmer seemed to be interested, "Did you win?"

The cavalry officer gritted his teeth and continued: "However, the power of this female demon is too amazing. She used all kinds of strange evil magic to escape from the encirclement and bloodbathed two more people.?? Town used to restore her evil abilities.  During the pursuit, we shot through her left chest and right abdomen, used high heat to fuse her left arm, and cut off half of her foot!  We lost track of her and subsequently lost contact with four more pursuit teams.  In order to completely eliminate this common threat to all of us, you must tell me her whereabouts quickly. As long as she can be captured, His Majesty the Emperor will be rewarded heavily!  "

The farmer was silent.  There were people around who wanted to speak, but the owner glared at them and had to shrink back angrily.

The officer was a little impatient: "That's enough, I know she has been here. I just want to know where she went - isn't she still here?"

The farmer seemed to be startled: "No, no, of course not! Your Excellency, you can take a look at the oil painting on the wall. She has indeed been here. She also helped us repair the old magic circle, which can prevent fire  "

Several soldiers looked at each other and nodded.  They did not invite the busy Lord Newton, but directly approached the oil painting, pulled the painting off the wall, and began to study the magic circle behind it.

    "Could this be a trap?"

"Maybe, let's not be too hasty. Mr. Master, so she didn't stay? We want to search your house, is that okay?"

The farmer looked a little embarrassed: "Can you wait any longer? My wife and the others haven't gotten up yet. Besides, there is no way I would harbor such a devil, unless she disguises herself as one of your people, or she disguises herself as an evil spirit."  of freedom 每 the rebel tax collector.§

The officer thought for a while and replied: "It is unlikely that she will be disguised as one of our people, but it is very likely that she will be disguised as someone from the Free Army. But in any case, she is also a devil and not a member of the Free Army〞〞"

"But to me, she sounds like a hero of the Free Army."

The farmer muttered softly, suddenly picked up the iron sand gun in his hand, and fired a shot at the soldiers gathered next to the magic circle.  The officer who was talking happily received the shot and screamed, his whole body pressed against the wall.

Immediately afterwards, the host grabbed the oil lamp on the table and threw it away.  The remaining people also reacted, took out weapons from their waists and started fighting.

By the time Mara came back with a box full of information, the battle was over.

The entire farm was reduced to rubble.  Except for the farmhouse that she had reinforced with a fireproof magic circle, all the remaining buildings were burned to ashes.  Men and militiamen died in yards, in haystacks, in stables, on walls, in mills, and by wells.  The corpses of women and children were piled in piles and dumped in the open fields of the farmland, next to the corpses of the emperors who died in battle.

Soldiers with spears and muskets were searching the yard. When they saw her walking in, they all screamed and began to fire.

At that moment, the silver dragon named Mara forgot about her transformation and her reflexed left wing.

This is not the army she should be fighting for.

She howled and started fighting directly using her instincts.  Her right hand turned into a sharp claw, her legs swelled out of her trouser legs, and only her body still barely maintained a human shape.

The battle was so quick that she had forgotten about it.  When she came to her senses, all the weapons had been stuck on the walls of the courtyard, and the trembling soldiers were trying to crawl away.

Mara grabbed a soldier and asked: "Why do you want to kill them? Why do you want to kill children and women too?!"

The daughter of the Silver Dragon squeezed these words out of her throat.  Because of her anger, she was no longer able to control the human muscles she imitated.

The soldier struggled to answer: "This is war They attacked first, and I was executing the order-"

Mara's claws penetrated the soldier's throat.

"Yes, there is no right or wrong in a cruel war. Everyone is just loyal to their own duties and beliefs. Everyone will say this. Many people feel that cruelty is the essence of war, so they abuse this power wantonly,  You also think that anyone who does not take advantage of this cruelty is a naive fool. You envy and worship cruel people."

The voice of the Silver Dragon's daughter became louder, and she used the natural magic ability belonging to the Silver Dragon clan.

That ability can identify every tremor in the voice and expose every lie.

"Come on, tell me, soldiers, did you take part in the massacre of these people? Tell me, is the answer yes or no?"

Maral swiftly executed everyone who set out to massacre.  In fact, there was only one person who did not start the massacre, and that was the young magician.

"No, no, I didn't kill I am Isaac Newton I, I will pay the ransom don't kill me"

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?John Newton's legs softened and he sat down on the ground.  He was a high-level mage, that was true; but the brutal killing of the silver-haired woman in front of him also frightened him.  He knew that this woman was not the beautiful opponent yesterday.  He could still remain calm when fighting the mysterious beauty mage; but the young mithril emblem mage was not as experienced as his uncle.

This name brought back Mara's sanity.  She remembered the request she had accepted.

    "Why are you here, Isaac?"

"I, I detected an abnormal normal area of ??magic power nearby"

Mara sighed secretly.  Anne Seifer's calculations were so precise that she should have been able to lead to Newton himself.  If that were the case, perhaps this tragedy would not have happened

Just as she was thinking this, the horse's hooves broke the calm again.

The second imperial cavalry received the warning signal that was sent out at an unknown time and rushed into the farm.

"My entire advance teamis this the woman you are chasing after?!"

The captain of the second cavalry was so angry that his face was twisted. He drew his sword out of its sheath and wanted to charge forward.

Ma La snorted, turned around, and raised her good right hand.

But the cavalry captain*s attack was not launched.

"Stop attacking, this is an unfortunate misunderstanding. She is not the target, although I don't know why she is here." Cardinal Ionette Hartman, the top person in charge of the pursuit, raised his weapon  It turned into a hand shield and hit the captain hard on the back of the head, stopping the situation from escalating.

"Let me introduce the fangs and claws of our Emperor. This is Ms. Mara, the Silver Dragon. Salute."

The remaining cavalrymen gritted their teeth and saluted.  They cannot resist a cardinal.

Ionette smiled bitterly and said: "Although I don't know the specific process, I can probably guess the reason. This Ms. Mara enforced military law for us."

"I just performed a tragedy." Mara replied in a low voice.

※The tragedy is that we are chasing a terrible enemy, and this enemy has ignited the anger in all of us.§ Ionette explained.

He introduced the current situation to Mara, as well as the mysterious female mage they were hunting.  Even the daughter of the Silver Dragon was a little surprised to learn that this mage had blocked the entire army for so many days; she quickly thought of the suspect.

"In addition, I would like to thank you for letting our reckless little Isaac go." After introducing the situation, Ionette expressed her gratitude in a low voice on behalf of the Holy See, "Cardinal Jett Newton's spirit in heaven will thank you.  ."

"Speaking of which, I might have killed this ignorant young man, but the person you were chasing stopped me in advance with her language. Yes, I saw the person you were chasing last night."

Ignoring the surprise of everyone around him, Malapin lifted the carton containing a huge number of paper rolls, let go of his hand, and the carton fell to the ground with a bang, stirring up dust.

"She has something she wants me to bring to you, Sir Isaac Newton. She also has something to convey to you."

    Those are Anne*s interesting ※reasons§.

"She said that the laws of nature are hidden in the dark night. The God of Destiny said, 'There must be Newton,' and then there was light."

"That is a great light that she cannot extinguish, so she deliberately saved Mr. Kepler's last data and gave it to you who studies gravity."

Mara thought about those words and repeated them.

"The stones thrown will eventually fall to the ground, and the war that breaks out will eventually end."

"Crutal war should not obscure the light that belongs to mankind. Because that is the future, the future for which each of us is fighting."

Yinlong glanced at all the remaining people coldly.  No one dared to look at her, everyone lowered their heads angrily.

"Although you didn't do anything, there is no glory to speak of. This is war, but there should be light in war. You can't catch up with that lady, never. Goodbye, I have to go to the headquarters  Report on the war situation in the north."

With a smile, Mara pulled over an ownerless horse and rode on it.

Feeling her breath, the fierce horse suddenly became extremely tame.  She smiled proudly, revealing her four big dragon teeth.

These young imperial mages did not lie, they indeed severely damaged that terrible opponent.  Of course, this should have something to do with the fact that she tore apart the mimic demon yesterday.  Even the Silver Dragon would feel proud after severely injuring such a powerful opponent.

Anne Seifer*s life should also depend onIt continues with the mimetic internal organs and water of life, right?  That incredibly beautiful body should be almost at the end of its use.  Of course, every powerful magician will have spare weapons that can be replaced〞〞

It looks like the ** is definitely not nearby.

She recalled Anne Seifer*s actions just now: she had never touched her body with her hands, not even once.

Under that ill-fitting Orion costume, I am afraid that not only is there a graceful figure, but also a terrifying scenery.  If the injury was indeed what Ionette said, there should be holes of all sizes, simulated internal organs, and life water flowing in the simulated blood vessels under the clothes.

In other words, Anne*s current body can still be used for about forty-eight hours.

However, Mara did not intend to tell this information to the soldiers of the empire.  The road is open anyway, let them go.

In her mind, she kept thinking about the omen she had glimpsed from Anne - or was it a memory?  It was a war that was far more violent, terrifying, and cruel than the Freedom War, and more cruel than any war she had seen in more than a thousand years.  The young girl, like Mara herself, had experienced truly cruel battlefields.

"That's why she wants to keep the light of the war. Good luck to you, Miss Saphire. See you Lenny."

The man from the future and the dragon from the past parted ways, each embarking on their own path.

The end of every road will converge in the city where fate intersects.
