Previous page        Return to Catalog        Next page

Starting from the end of January 1909, under the organization and propaganda of personnel from the intelligence ministries in various places, Chinese people all over the world carried out vigorous boycotts of Japanese goods.

Domestically, due to the Chinese Revolution led by Qin Zhongyu, Xu Xilin and others, the rule of the four provinces of Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangsu and Fujian has been consolidated.

Therefore, under the leadership of the newly established Nanjing Military Government, the four southern provinces such as Jiangsu and Zhejiang became the vanguard of the boycott of Japanese goods.

Newspapers in major cities in the four southern provinces publish the Japanese crimes of invading Northeast China and Taiwan every day.  Moreover, major newspapers relentlessly exposed the fact that Japan invaded Lanfang Republic, an overseas Chinese country, in the name of protecting overseas Chinese.

While criticizing the ugly behavior of the Japanese invaders, major newspapers in the four provinces enthusiastically called on merchants and people everywhere to stop trading with Japan and conduct a boycott of Japanese goods to support the anti-Japanese struggle of the Lanfang Republic.

In addition, the Propaganda Department of the Nanjing Military Government also sent many propaganda personnel to various places to conduct mass rallies, speeches, unveil posts and publish inflammatory articles to strengthen the ideological and political education of the people.

At the same time, similar propaganda operations were carried out in northern regions such as Beijing, Tianjin and Shandong controlled by Li Guangxin, Xu Fang, Yuan Shikai and others.

In order to make the movement more deeply rooted in the hearts of the people, the propaganda personnel of the Liberation Party also posted leaflets boycotting Japanese goods on the walls of streets and alleys inside and outside urban and rural areas within the domestic control area.

Soon, this patriotic movement to boycott Japanese goods received enthusiastic support and positive response from many people.

Businessmen in these areas refused to buy and sell Japanese goods. After some patriotic businessmen got the news, they even brought Japanese goods stored in their stores to the venue to be burned.  The shops set up by the Japanese were all closed.

Immediately afterwards, under the operation of the Propaganda Department of the Liberation Party, anti-Japanese and patriotic dramas and songs appeared in big cities such as Nanjing, Beijing and Shanghai.

? ? Major schools have also expressly stipulated that any stationery in the school is not allowed to be purchased from Japan.  Students were constantly encouraged and took to the streets in droves, handing out leaflets, giving speeches, and further agitating.

By mid-February, this organized and premeditated boycott of Japanese goods spread rapidly across the country.

In this movement to boycott Japanese goods, the attitudes of various classes of the public showed great differences.

On the one hand, businessmen and property owners were afraid of the power of the Japanese Empire, but on the other hand, they were unwilling to suffer losses due to the movement affecting their business.  Therefore, these people are mostly conservative.

For young students, because there are not much property and they have not become a family, their attitudes tend to be radical.

Young students can be inspired by patriotic enthusiasm and perform actively in sports.  Their knowledge, social status and their own economic situation make them more involved in the movement than other social classes.

By participating in sports, young students can usually win more freedom of movement and social status.

Since most people in the education sector are patriots and have little career losses, they also have many supporters.

Most of the farmers and workers outside the areas controlled by the Liberation Party stayed on the sidelines and showed no enthusiasm during the movement.

However, in the areas controlled by the Liberation Party, since the peasants and workers are the main targets of the Liberation Party¡¯s unity and control, they are the first group of people to be educated in patriotism.  Therefore, these people not only actively participated, but also donated money and materials to support the anti-Japanese struggle of the Lanfang Republic.

Local officials under the control of the Liberation Party are all members of the Liberation Party.  Therefore, these officials spare no effort to promote and support.

Most of the local officials outside the areas controlled by the Liberation Party are afraid that the people will take this opportunity to act rashly, causing troubles that endanger social order, and affect diplomatic issues, etc.  Therefore, on the one hand, they nervously comforted the people, and on the other hand, they paid close attention to the progress of the situation in order to stop the development of the situation in time.

Of course, among all classes, those who are most active and excited in boycotting Japanese products are domestic manufacturers such as the raw silk manufacturing industry, which compete fiercely with Japanese companies.

Taking Jiangsu Province as an example, there are many textile factories run by Chinese in Shanghai, Wuxi, Wujin, Nantong and Jiangyin. Therefore, the movement of merchants in these places to boycott Japanese products and promote domestic products is far more intense than in places such as Suzhou, Yangzhou and Zhenjiang.  .

The Wuxi Cloth Factory Association also established a special meeting to boycott Japanese products to promote this matter, and a "Chinese Products Reserve Association" was also established.  Nantong also has an organization that maintains domestic products.  The establishment of domestic product companies and shopping malls is more common.

There are countless examples of these businessmen taking advantage of the great opportunity of the boycott movement to expand production, open new factories and expand markets.

Of course, Chen Hao also knows the hateful faces of many domestic businessmen. If these people lose their strong competitors, the goods they produce willWhat kind of stuff is it? It¡¯s really not guaranteed.

Therefore, Chen Hao ordered that while resolutely boycotting Japanese goods, he should also set up a special agency to strengthen the investigation and punishment of the quality of goods in domestic control areas.

Furthermore, the leadership of the People¡¯s Liberation Party in managing the economy must seize this opportunity to vigorously build and develop their own factories.  It is also necessary to strengthen the import of goods from Britain, the United States and other countries, especially the import of goods from the United States.

At the same time, the movement to boycott Japanese goods in the Americas, Indonesia, Singapore and other places is also in the ascendant.

The intelligence agents of the Liberation Party have long occupied the public opinion positions in various countries and used major newspapers to publicize that the Japanese army was cruel and ruthless and committed many evil deeds.

Therefore, the Japanese, who have long been notorious, have been spurned by people from all over the world, causing many foreign people to naturally stay away from Japanese products.

¡°In places such as Indonesia, the United States, and Mexico, where the Liberation Party is most active, the various forces cultivated by the Liberation Party not only burned Japanese goods unscrupulously, but also ruthlessly looted and attacked the Japanese.

In short, this boycott of Japanese products has a strong core leadership and is very effective in organization and propaganda.  Therefore, it was carried out vigorously and gradually formed a worldwide Chinese anti-Japanese movement.

The boycott of Japanese goods has dealt a heavy blow to Japan's economy, causing heavy losses to Japanese businesses that mainly focus on exports. It has also given domestic product manufacturers that compete fiercely with Japanese businesses a good opportunity to develop and grow.

Of course, the most important thing is that this boycott of Japanese goods is essentially a patriotic movement carried out by the Liberation Party. It has awakened the patriotism and sense of responsibility of the people to a great extent, stimulated the vitality of the entire Chinese society, and strengthened the  People's national self-esteem and cohesion.

Since then, under the strong leadership of Chen Hao and the Liberation Party, most Chinese people around the world have begun to unite closely and work hard for the rise of the Chinese nation.
