? Chapter 6: The Tang Dynasty (Part 8)

Bian Lingcheng has served as a military supervisor for several terms. How can he be willing to sit back and wait for death?  With a flying kick, he would knock anyone in his way to the ground and run away.

The soldiers he brought were all the best soldiers. When they saw their master fighting for his life, they would draw their weapons and fight while leaving.  However, they were outnumbered, and soon the front and rear were blocked by rebel troops. Hundreds of rebels held high swords and torches and surrounded them.

All the soldiers guarded Bian Lingcheng in the center and resisted desperately.  He would rather be defeated and cut into pieces than let the other party hurt his master.  Seeing the soldiers falling to the ground one after another in front of him, Bian Lingcheng knew that he was probably doomed tonight. He sighed and shouted loudly: "Stop, everyone, and listen to what Bian said!"

A bunch of rebel soldiers wouldn't listen, they just waved their swords and hacked at them.  In an instant, two more soldiers screamed and were cut into pieces. Bian Lingcheng's eyes were about to burst, and he suddenly jumped forward a few steps, sending his neck directly to the enemy's sword.  Next, "Every injustice has its owner, and every debt has its owner. If you want to use Bian's head as a proxy, just take it and don't hurt innocent people again!"

No one thought that this eggless eunuch could be so brave.  The surrounding soldiers were calmed down by Bian Lingcheng's sudden burst of courage, and they all put away their weapons.  The last two guards turned their heads unwillingly, with tears on their faces, "Sir!".

¡°That¡¯s it, you two, don¡¯t risk your lives in vain for me anymore!¡± Bian Lingcheng sighed again and said with a wry smile.  Then he slowly pushed away the blade on his neck and saluted the surrounding soldiers with cupped fists: "Which general has the final say here, please listen to what I have to say!"

    "I!"

    "I!"

¡°If you have something to say, say it quickly, and if you have something to say, say it quickly!¡±

    ¡¡.

Several people dressed as military officers jumped out at the same time and responded chaotically.  Bian Lingcheng's eyes quickly swept across them, picked out the highest-ranking general among them, and said loudly: "General, my life is entrusted to you. Please let my two soldiers leave.  Their heads are worthless!"

The guy he called a general was actually just a captain.  Seeing that the old eunuch was so polite, he didn't want to be too rude. He bowed his hand in return and promised loudly: "That's natural. We only arrested you to protect ourselves. There is no need to implicate irrelevant people."

"Mr. Bian" After hearing this, the two soldiers dropped their weapons and burst into tears.  Bian Lingcheng smiled at the two of them, then turned around and continued: "Wang Mingyun is Feng Changqing's closed disciple. The two of them hate someone taking advantage of the situation. If you want to survive, it's best not to stay.  Here. Find a secluded place to hide first, or rush out of the city as soon as possible, it is better than standing in someone else's yard."

"Thank you, Mr. Bian, for your advice!" The rebel captain bowed his hands gratefully, then turned back to greet his brothers: "Let's go, let's go. If you want to live, follow me quickly! If you don't want to leave, I'll bump into you later.  Don¡¯t blame yourself for your misfortune on the Hammer King¡¯s knife edge!¡±

Although the defeated soldiers were reluctant to part with the property and women in the yard, they were even more afraid of the Anxi Army's blade.  After listening to the captain's words, he looked back reluctantly, rolled up the things he had just snatched and slung them over his shoulders, surrounded Bian Lingcheng, and quickly left the scene of the crime.

"I admire the old eunuch's performance just now. The rebels did not make it too difficult for him.  Just tie a rope around his waist to prevent him from trying to escape.  Bian Lingcheng seemed to have accepted his fate and walked neatly among the defeated soldiers. When he encountered other teams taking advantage of the situation, he also knew how to lower his head to avoid being recognized and causing unnecessary trouble to everyone.

This kind of sensible behavior made the rebels not want to treat him too harshly.  After walking a few streets, we came to the entrance of a square that had not been looted by the defeated troops. The captain who led the team turned around and asked very politely: "In your opinion, how about we hide here first?"  ?!¡±

"No!" Bian Lingcheng shook his head slightly, "This place is too close to Dongshi. Even if you don't try to rob it, others will take notice of you soon. Walk south and find a more secluded place!"

The captain who led the team was also very familiar with Chang'an City. After thinking about it for a moment, he knew that Bian Lingcheng's words made sense.  He immediately waved his hand and led the brothers to move forward.  Then he walked south through several alleys and came to some rather simple houses. He stopped and continued to ask Bian Lingcheng for his opinion, "Here, no one seems to be interested in this place!"

"I'm afraid it won't work. This was the residence of the Princess of Shu. It was raided by Sun Xiaozhe, and it suddenly declined. But the surrounding neighbors have all benefited from the Princess of Shu. Now that you have fallen into power, what if  Someone took the opportunity to make trouble"

"That's right!" The rebel captain nodded and led his brothers to continue moving forward.  Walking through the streets and alleys, picking out peopleDrill in place.  After walking a few more steps, I saw that I was almost at the base of the east city wall. I stopped and looked to Bian Lingcheng for consultation.

"Bian has something to say, I don't know whether to say it or not?!" Bian Lingcheng pretended to be hesitant and gently handed over to his captor.

"Say it!" The captain who led the team waved his arm vigorously, "If you have anything to say, just say it. We only want to protect ourselves and have no intention of making things difficult for you!"

"Instead of handing Bian over to the Anxi Army, it is better to take Bian out of the city and hand it over to Guo Ziyi. Wang Xun is just a military governor who has lost his own territory, but Guo Ziyi is the marshal of the world's soldiers and horses. You just need to take Bian to Guo Ziyi.  If Bian is left to him, not only can he escape safely, but he will also be rewarded based on his merits in the future, and at least he will be rich!"

"This" The captain who led the team had his eyes shining, and the expression on his face was very hesitant.

Although Bian Lingcheng had no real power on the rebel side, his official rank was very high.  According to the imperial edict issued by the Emperor of the Tang Dynasty, anyone who catches an official of the Yan Kingdom and hands him over will not only have his past crimes of "being a thief" written off, but also the person's role as a traitor among the rebels.  If you have a side position, you will be rewarded separately based on your success.

But this is somewhat inconsistent with the previous plan.  And it is inevitable to bear the risk of being cheated by other brothers on the road.  While hesitating, he suddenly heard someone shouting loudly: "Brother Zhou, don't be fooled by the old thief. If we hand him over to Guo Ziyi, we may not get the reward, but we will offend the Anxi Army. In case the Emperor of the Tang Dynasty doesn't want to kill him.  , this debt will inevitably be blamed on us by the Hammer King. By then, we will be chopped down by the Hammer King, who will be willing to surrender a few pawns and offend a prince?!"

"Ah!" Captain Zhou, who was leading the team, was startled and suddenly woke up from his sweet dream.  Looking at Bian Lingcheng again, your last glimmer of hope was completely shattered, your face turned gray, and you seemed to have aged more than ten years in an instant.

"You old thief, you are so vicious! I almost fell into your trap!" Captain Zhou, who understood the taste, was frightened and angry. He grabbed Bian Lingcheng, punched and kicked him.  After he had vented enough, he threw him to the ground and ordered loudly, "Tie his hands and feet, and gag his mouth. No one should listen to him anymore. This damn eunuch is a poisonous snake. As long as he opens his mouth, he will be killed."  Seeking human life!¡±

The defeated soldiers, still frightened, swarmed up and tied Bian Lingcheng tightly.  At this moment, the old eunuch knew that he was hopeless, lowered his head, closed his eyes and waited for death.

Without him gesturing from the side, the defeated troops lost their backbone.  He raised his head in confusion, not knowing what to do next?  The school captain surnamed Zhou had the highest official position, so naturally he became everyone's last hope.  Unable to bear everyone's gazes, he gritted his teeth and thought for a while, then made a decision, "Since everyone trusts Zhou, Zhou must find a way for everyone to survive no matter what. Zhou heard that the Hammer King has returned.  He is fierce, but always very reasonable. We neither opposed him nor took advantage of him"

Having said this, he looked at the large and small packages everyone carried on their shoulders, lowered his voice and said, "I remember there is a temple not far from here. I broke in and buried your packages. No one is allowed to come back."  Put it on your shoulders, and then we will bolt the temple door and let no one in. When the Anxi Army takes control of the whole city, we will go out and surrender to them!"

The defeated soldiers looked around and saw a tall tower not far away.  They all agreed, raised Bian Lingcheng, and rushed towards the temple.  The monk in the temple was hiding behind the Buddhist niche, shivering and chanting sutras. When he heard the banging on the door outside, he refused to show his head.  The defeated soldiers were furious and immediately climbed in through the courtyard wall and opened the door bolt from the inside.  Then they moved the incense burners and stone benches noisily, and blocked the temple door tightly.

After finishing the busy work inside, the shouts of killing outside were getting closer.  A group of defeated soldiers were frightened and hid in the temple, watching secretly from the crack in the door.  I saw only a dozen people dragging down the river, with broken arms and legs, running past the temple crying.  Following closely behind was a group of tribal warriors, carrying the gold and silver they had just snatched on their backs, and fled towards Qujiang Pond in embarrassment.  Then, a group of soldiers wearing Tang military uniforms, who did not know whose subordinates they belonged to, chased the tribal warriors and slashed with their swords.  Then, another group of troops retreated. They did not dare to fight with the Tang army, but just killed people and set fire to the surrounding houses.

The fifth wave of soldiers passing by the temple gate was another group of Tang troops.  The armor on his body is very neat, but the things he does are shocking.  I saw them blocking the defeated army who was taking advantage of the fire in the house, hacking them to death with knives, cutting off their heads and hanging them on their waists.  Then he collected the looted property by the defeated soldiers and divided them all up.  Seeing that the number was not enough, they turned around and rushed into several nearby courtyards that were not affected by the fire. They killed the owners of the courtyards, took away all the valuables in the courtyards, and then raised torches to burn the bodies and the courtyards.

"Don't grab it, don't grab it. There is a big fish running over! Stop him and take his head to claim credit!" At the entrance of the street, several more primary schools dressed as Tang soldiers came running on horseback and shouted loudly:?.

The soldiers of the Tang army who were killing people and setting fire immediately gathered their troops and formed a hurried formation in the middle of the street.  In the blink of an eye, the area around the temple was blocked.
