Chapter 5 Two Cities and Three Attacks

They gave up their pursuit of the remaining defeated generals and turned back.  Along the way, enemy corpses can be seen everywhere.  Some have been blown stiff by the north wind, like pieces of frozen meat.  Some of them were not completely cold, and black and red blood continued to flow from the wounds, covering the frozen blood clots on the ground with a thick layer.

Near the dark and cold blood ice, there are piles of smoking tents.  The flames appeared and disappeared behind the smoke, like ghosts in hell holding lanterns at night.  Some of the seriously injured rebel soldiers were still breathing. They struggled to support their bodies with their arms and slowly squirmed toward the light of the fire.  They do not want to be led into the dark and cold hell by death, and they try to grasp the last warmth in this world.  However, their efforts were destined to be in vain. Soon, soldiers from the Anxi Army came over, stabbed the dying struggler a few times, and then quickly cut off the head.

"Ah!" "Have mercy!" "Mercy!" "Ah!" Screams and begging for mercy came and went, mixed with the dull sound of knife slashing on the dead body, which made people's back numb.

Even though Chu Duyan was used to seeing death scenes, he felt shuddering.  He stopped his mount, stretched out his hand to pull the reins of Wan Qi Yu Xie's horse, and suggested beggingly, "There is no need to kill them all! It is impossible for these people to have the strength to resist now. Sparing them a small life will not affect the situation of the war!"  "

Wanqi Yuxue¡¯s official rank is higher than his, and he has been in the Anxi Army longer than him. Naturally, he is more qualified to make partial adjustments to the commander¡¯s orders based on the actual situation on the battlefield.  But the latter did not intend to do this. He shook his head and responded in a low voice: "It's such a cold weather and the injuries are so serious. Even if they don't have a wound on them, they won't be able to survive until dawn. Send them off early."  , which is a good thing! Besides, Chang'an to the east is now under the control of the rebels. Whether it is Cui Qianyou, Li Chenggui, Shi Siming, or Cai Xide, no one is willing to watch us take Chang'an. If the general does this  If we don't kill more harshly, we will make other rebels fearful. In the future, we don't know how many unjust wars we will fight and how many brothers will die!"

Chu was dumbfounded.  I couldn't fully accept Wanqi Yuxie's explanation in my heart, but I couldn't say anything else.  Wan Qiyu Xie looked at him and added earnestly: "When I was the same age as our general, I was still carrying a broken sword and looking for people to compete with others all over the world. But he inherited the legacy of Feng Shuai  He shouldered the burden of rebuilding the Anxi Army and rebuilding the Tang Dynasty on his own shoulders. Although he never cried out bitterly or tiredly in front of his brothers. But as long as anyone thinks about it carefully, he will know how unhappy he is.  Easy. So those of us who are subordinates, if we can share the burden, try our best to share it for him. Even if we can't share it, we must not cause trouble for him. As for the life and death of other people, to be honest, I don't want to care at all, and I don't care about it at all.  It doesn¡¯t matter!¡±

"Brother Wanqi is right, Chu was too kind to a woman just now!" Chu Duyan clasped his fists, awestruck.  Wanqi Yuxie was right. As a member of the Anxi Army now, of course he must put the interests of the Anxi Army first in everything.  As for other people, whether it is the rebels or the court, they are far less important than the Anxi Army.  After all, if Wang Xun's banner falls, the Anxi Army will be completely finished.  No matter how much ambition we have in our hearts, everything will become a dream.

But this kind of endless killing?  While others were not paying attention, Chu Duyan secretly glanced into the purgatory of blood and fire, shaking his head slightly.  The general now looks more and more like a famous general from ancient times. Every gesture and gesture shows the majesty of a person in authority.  In his eyes, the nearly a thousand injured rebels were probably just a bunch of chess pieces.  If you say it's going to fall off the chessboard, you're going to do it without any hesitation.

???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? As long as he can win in the end, he will not hesitate at all when it is time to sacrifice his own men.  Which one is better, this Wang Xun or the slightly raw and weak Wang Xun before?  It was difficult for Chu Duyan to come to a conclusion.  I just feel that the colors of the blood and fire around me are getting brighter and brighter, like needles, stinging my eyes.

Because he was too depressed, he did not return to the battlefield after finding the forward selection camp led by Zhu Wuyi and Ma Yue.  Wan Qi Yu Xie could understand Chu Duyan's mood and did not force it. He sent two brothers to follow him and go to Wang Xun to report the victory and ask for instructions on the next task.  The three of them searched for a moment along the direction of the main attack, and soon saw where the handsome flag was.  He jumped off his mount and walked over slowly.

Many generals had arrived before this, and they were all surrounded under the flag, talking and laughing loudly.  In tonight's battle, Anxi's army used 15,000 people to sneak attack on 5,000 rebels, and it was impossible not to win easily.  Hearing the scream of the horse beside Chu Duyan, everyone turned around and opened a passage for him with a smile, "General Chu is here, where is General Wanqi? Tonight, your Huya Camp really showed its face!"

"General Wanqi is helping the front camp to train troops."?Said to let the recruits see more blood so that their legs will not weaken in future battles.  Chu Duyan smiled and bowed his hands to everyone, and then bowed to Wang Xun and saluted: "General Qi, I humbly serve under the orders of General Wanqi and come to pay orders to the general."  General Wanqi lives, if there are any new tasks, please"

"Okay!" Wang Xun smiled and waved his hand, "Wanqi is getting better and better at flattering. Is there any new task for you tonight? Could it be that he hasn't had enough of fighting yet and wants to take the opportunity to sneak attack on Chang'an City?  !!¡±

The generals laughed loudly, and for a moment, their hearts were full of pride.  They all felt that even if they went to attack Chang'an on horseback, it wouldn't be a bad idea.  Although they may not be able to attack the city as expected, they can at least scare Sun Xiaozhe half to death.

Wang Xun pressed his hand downwards, gradually stopping his laughter.  "How are the losses at Huya Camp? Have you counted the casualties? It's not easy for us to assemble such a team. The losses are huge. In tonight's battle, the gains outweigh the losses."

"General Lao is worried, brothers, the losses are not heavy!" Hearing that Wang Xun cared so much about the safety of the soldiers of Huya Camp, a slight warmth suddenly surged in Chu Duyan's cold heart, "It's just that when we captured the gate of the camp, Zhe  Seven brothers were injured. Then there were no further casualties. The general responded in time, and the soft chain armor he equipped for the brothers was also light and easy to use!"

"It's good that the damage is not serious!" Wang Xun nodded happily.  "Come here, pour some wine for General Chu. There are a few other generals who haven't sent anyone to deliver the news. Let's drink and wait for them!"

As soon as he finished speaking, a burst of warm cheers suddenly sounded from around him.  Immediately afterwards, Fang Ziling led a group of brothers and pushed several guys covered in blood into the crowd.  "General, I have found a few living people among the dead bodies! I brought them here specially for you to appreciate!"

"Spare your life!" Before Wang Xun could say anything, a guy wearing an ordinary rebel uniform shouted for mercy, "I am willing to surrender, I am willing to surrender. General, please spare me. I am willing to lead the horse for the general in the future.  Drop the stirrup to thank you for your life!"

"Shameless!" Another prisoner rushed towards the beggar and tried to knock him into the fire.  On the way, he was held down by Fang Ziling's subordinates. He knelt on the ground and cursed, "Isn't it just one death? What's so big about it?" We fought all the way from Yuyang to Chang'an, and we didn't know how many people we killed.  Are you afraid of the word "death"?! Shut up quickly and don't embarrass your old Cui family!"

"Qin, you want to die yourself, don't drag others with you!" Instead of being scolded, the beggar became more courageous, and became even more shameless.  "The general is Cui Yunqi, Cui Qianyou's nephew, Cui Qianyou's nephew. If you always forgive me, the general is willing to write a letter to persuade my uncle to abandon the secret and turn to the light as soon as possible!"

Wang Xun didn¡¯t even bother to look at this spineless guy.  Shaking his head, he ordered the prisoners to be taken away, "Push them out and behead them, and use their blood to commemorate the brothers who died in the battle tonight. If you find them pretending to be dead later, you don't have to send them to me. I don't want to make them sick when I see them!"

Fang Ziling stuck out his tongue before flattering him, and led his brothers to push the prisoner out.  Qin Degang, the rebel deputy general, shrugged and strode away.  Several other prisoners, however, followed Cui Yunqi, dragging their legs on the ground and refusing to leave, "The general has mercy, the general has mercy. We don't want to offend the general Hu Wei, it's Cui Qianyou, it's Cui Qianyou  The old thief forced me to wait!"

"Compassion?" Wang Xun put down the wine cup in his hand and sneered loudly: "Are you worthy of talking about compassion? When you destroyed my home and killed my neighbors, did you ever think about the word 'compassion'?"  "

The prisoners were stunned by his questioning, and they all cried and collapsed on the ground, allowing Fang Ziling and his men to drag them away.  There was still anger in Wang Xun's heart that had not been vented. He gritted his teeth and said with a cold light in his eyes: "Those who destroy my home will die! Wang doesn't care whose grandson or nephew you are. This is the case today, and it will be the same in the future.  in this way."

"Those who destroy my homeland will die!" A group of Anxi army generals who once lived near Chang'an and followed Wang Xun from the Central Plains to the Western Regions and back from the Western Regions repeated in unison.  Back then, they fought bloody battles along the Yaocha River, and they fought to the death without giving up. It was because they had a family behind them, a proud Tang Dynasty.  But when everyone finally broke out thousands of miles away, they suddenly looked back and found that the Tang Dynasty had collapsed, and the home they once dreamed of had been burned into ruins by the rebels.

With all this hatred, how can there be any room for mercy?  Even if Wang Xun promised to let the prisoners live, everyone would follow them secretly and cut them into pieces.  Even if they remain anonymous from now on and don't care about the war; even if they run to the ends of the earth!

"Those who destroy my home will die!"

"Those who destroy my homeland will die!" The roars were repeated loudly by the officers and soldiers of the old Anxi Army and the new Anxi Army.  Rushing along the smoke and firelight, breaking through the boundless darkness, and then integrating into the boundless againof darkness.
