The dazzling golden torrent overflowed from the church and roared down the hillside, like a flash flood when the ice and snow melted in spring, flooding the entire small mountain village.  It roared in a low voice, like a wild beast that had escaped from the fence.

The sleeping village woke up from its sweet dream.

The villagers all came out of their homes and stared dumbfounded at the door to heaven that opened above the church.

There was a bright light on the hillside, and the church steeple seemed to be holding a sun.  There seemed to be an angel's figure appearing in the clouds and mist, and the enchanting fairy music echoed in their ears.  This is a rare sight that they will never see in their lifetime.

In the light that dispelled the darkness, the pastor¡¯s prayer suddenly became clear.  His voice gradually became louder and clearer, and finally became louder and louder than the angel's singing.  However, the pastor's cadence of voice was full of fatigue.  Leo could hear that only enthusiasm and fragile hope were supporting his frail and old body.

    no doubt¡¡

"He will die from this." Iweila stood up holding on to the table, her face full of unbelievable surprise.  "His spell will kill himselfhow did he choose this?"

"Iweila," Lu Yuewu asked in confusion, "What is going on?"

Eweila calmed down a little.  She looked up at the bright spire church on the hillside and said slowly, "This spellsummoning the Gate of Heavenis beyond his capacity." She sighed weakly and sadly, "Once the priest  Unable to hold it up, it will begin to eat away at his life until heis reduced to dry bones and ashes.¡±

"We should probably stop him from continuing."

"This is the path he chose, Moon Dancer." Iweila shook her head and said to her, "He is a believer in the gods. He regards dedication as a favor and a shortcut to the kingdom of the gods. No.  Any compulsion is due to his own decision."

But Leo¡¯s view is different from hers.  "No, you are mistaken, Iweila." He corrected, "He is just praying. Do you think he can know the secrets of divine magic? He will never understand it until he dies. He is just a priest in a remote mountain village  , probably only know how to select a certain passage in the scriptures, and recite the magic secret text above in the way taught by the church."

"We should stop him." Lu Yuewu said, but Li Ou didn't move.  "Are you going to watch others die in front of you again?"

She looked at him reproachfully and dissatisfied.  He didn't flinch, meeting her disgusted eyes.  He saw a lot of things that surprised him, just like when he was in the desert, her eyes were full of resistance to him.  He suddenly felt that he might never understand her way of doing things.

¡°There¡¯s no way to stop it.¡± He turned his head away, exposing his tired and injured face in front of Eweila.  He smiled helplessly at her, letting her see it was better than having his weakness discovered by the swordswoman.  "Yuewu, look at the people below, look at their faces." He tried to make his words sound more normal.  Thankfully, the commotion below masked his vibrato.  "Do you think we can get close to the church? As unwelcome outsiders, we are afraid of being stabbed to death with a dung fork as soon as we appear in front of them."

Looking down through the window, the surroundings are as clear as day.

Residents of the entire village gathered at the foot of the church. The expressions on their faces before the "miracle" were like those of ignorant believers in the wild desert.  What did their piety get in return?  Leo wanted to know the fate of these people that would be revealed.

The priest¡¯s hoarse prayers were like loud bells and drums, and the slowly opening door to the Kingdom of God was humming.

"It's the pastor!" A man shouted excitedly, "It must be his prayers that caused the miracle to happen."

    The women burst into tears.

"Thanks to Our Lady, we are saved."

"The loving goddess has not abandoned us, nor has she neglected her lambs."

They prayed humbly and devoutly, as if the dead gods would answer them.  Even the devil is mocking you in heaven, right?  Through the torrent of golden light, Leo saw the dark sky.  It was like a hell that never saw the light of day.

An old man threw away his walking stick and knelt down in the mud first.  He lay down in the mud in the most pious posture.  Immediately afterwards, more people responded to him.  In just a short moment, all the villagers except them knelt on the cold ground, kowtowed nine times in the direction of the church, with tears streaming down their faces, and murmured begging for blessing.

However, suddenly, the pastor¡¯s prayers stopped suddenly, and the light of heaven became even brighter.

    "Pastor something happened?"

??Leo Ou can¡¯t be sure yet.?The sounds of prayers echoed around him, tickling his irritable heart.  He stared at the door of the church. No matter what, the frozen paladin should wake up.  Such a powerful flush of positive energy is enough to cure stubborn illnesses and eliminate all evil contamination.  But what if Leo tightened his grip on the scabbard.

But he forgot that it was the Goddess of Doom who was looking after them now.  Her mood was as cheerful as ever, and she even favored everyone who met them.  Just when Leo was about to wait and see what would happen, the Gate of Heaven began to disappear without warning

"There's a problem!" Leo stood up abruptly.

"What's the problem?" Lu Yuewu looked confused, "Isn't it normal?"

Not normal at all!  "Once the Gate of Heaven is cast, it will not stop, but now" Leo looked up at the golden door behind the mist.  It has slammed shut and is rapidly becoming a blur.  "Evera, stay here!" Uneasiness gripped his heart tightly, and he felt it was difficult to breathe.  "Wake up the knights and killers and ask them to protect you. Moon Dancer, follow me. I can't control that much."

The alchemist rushed out of the hotel.

The surroundings suddenly fell from dazzling light into blinding darkness.  Everyone was panicked.  They lost the response from the gods and could no longer tell the direction.  The surrounding suddenly became chaotic, with people everywhere screaming and running away without knowing what had happened.  More people knelt on the ground in confusion and looked in the direction of the church, their faces blank.

"Has the Holy Mother abandoned us?" Someone cried in fear.

A woman scratched her face and shouted angrily: "Oh my God, what have we done?"

In the light, shadows follow.  The darkness drove them crazy.

Leo did not pull out his sword. He pulled Lu Yuewu to walk carefully among them, trying not to disturb the villagers.  But a collision is inevitable and someone spots them.  Leo saw hatred in that man's eyes in an instant.  Immediately afterwards, more people discovered them.

A strong man stood up from the ground and blocked his way. "Where are you going?" he asked uglyly, pushing maliciously.  "Speak! Tell the truth!"

"Where else can they go?" Another man came around.

Lu Yuewu took her hand out of Leo's palm and said, "Get out of the way, we are going to the church."

Her words attracted more attention.  More people gathered around, like a pack of hungry wolves in the dark night.  "Church!" someone shouted, "What are you doing in church?"

¡°They must have bad intentions!¡± another person added.

"No," Lu Yuewu's argument seemed feeble.  "We're going to get the priest out."

    "Stop pretending!"

¡°The pastor has the blessing of the Holy Mother, it¡¯s not your turn to cry and show mercy!¡±

No one will believe you.  Leo thought.  He blocked Lu Yuewu behind him, "Get out of the way, don't block the way."

"It's not that simple!" The man who started the dispute at the beginning took a step forward instead of retreating, waving his fist in front of Leo.  "If you want to go over, ask my fist first. Either you walk over my body, or you go back!"

He wants to choose the third option.

But it seemed that even the people who had just escaped seemed to have the courage, and they all gathered around. More and more people were around, torches were lit, and heads were shaking everywhere, like a group of manipulated corpses.  The eyes of the villagers were filled with resentment that was transferred to them and fear that was trying to be vented on them.  A group of fragile people do not even dare to face the nightmare in their hearts.

"It must be because of them." A person shouted loudly.  It was a middle-aged man with a pockmarked face. He pointed at Leo, but avoided the latter's sight.  He said cringingly, "The pastor said this man is disrespectful to God!"

    "It must be him!"

"It must be him, the Holy Mother, who punished us."

    "Catch him!"

The crowd rushed toward him, and Li Ou drew a seal, but Lu Yuewu grabbed his hand.  "Leo, don't do it." She begged in his ear.  "Don't."

If you don¡¯t take action, are you just waiting to die?  The group of people in front of him could no longer listen to any persuasion, let alone his excuses.  This is a group of ignorant mountain villagers. They probably don't even know the difference between a mage and a priest.  Even more so, they are a group of believers of gods.  How can one listen to the talk about the death of the gods?

¡°You¡¯re going to be captured just like that?¡± He growled angrily as he backed away, ¡°Both you and I will be killed by them!¡±

"Then you want to kill them all?" Lu Yuewu said, "Kill an entire village? Then what's the difference between you and the monsters they talk about?"

    "I'm not that crazy."

But he had to come up with a solution as soon as possible.  Some people had gathered from behind, pitchforks in hand.  He didn't want to die in such humiliation at the hands of this mob.  However, he found that he could not swing his sword and could not break through the siege.  He has never felt helpless.  I should be more cold-blooded.  he thought wildly.

Just as people were getting closer and closer to them, an unexpected shock wave saved them.

The earth shook erratically, the house whined helplessly, and the bricks and wood began to crack.  Everyone staggered and fell to the ground, groaning in pain.  They stared blankly at everything happening around them, completely unaware of what was happening.  However, a loud noise pointed their way.

With flying dust, they saw the church on the hillside collapse.

"Holy Mother, what on earth is going on?"

    "Is the devil coming?"

    The villagers were horrified.

But there was silence all around, no demons and no ghosts.  Only when the dust cleared, they saw a stranger standing on the ruins of the church.  He held the fainting priest in his arms.
