Text Chapter 24 Showdown

The huge Royal Plaza is buzzing with music and people are buzzing, and the finals of the Imperial Knights Competition are about to begin.  Countless pigeons flew into the sky, and colorful flags flew like an ocean.

I stood quietly next to the circular challenge platform, overlooking the rostrum.  I don¡¯t know if I can win today or if I can successfully assassinate King Tikrit, but I will give it a try even if I die for Jesse (Xiu Ting).

"Three knights, who of you will take the stage first?" said Count "Monsassa", the chief referee of the final and deputy leader of the Imperial Guards Knights.

The rules of this challenge are: I, Sadimoka and Saiins are free to choose their opponents. No matter who gets on the stage first, the winner will be the last one standing on it.  The specific rules are similar to those of the Quasi-Knight Competition, but the overall level is very different.

"I'll go first!" Saiins from the third legion took the lead on the stage.

I was about to go up, but Montetier held me back.

"Wait a minute, let Sadimoka go first."

"Saiins, don't be too arrogant, I'll accompany you." As expected by Montetier, Sadimoka immediately boarded the competition stage.

"In the first round, Sadimoka, a first-class knight of the Royal Guards Knights, versus Saiins, a first-class knight of the Third Empire Legion."

As the flag was waved, the first round of competition began.

Saiins was wearing only a single armor and lazily carrying a knight's sword in one hand.  Because he was not wearing a helmet, Saiins had short fluffy brown hair and a cold and heroic face, with a hint of domineering in his publicity.

And Sadimoka looks much inferior in comparison.  Sadimoka wears a belted chainmail armor and a half-body hard armor, with a traditional shield on the left and a sword on the right.  What's even worse is that Sadimoka actually wears a barrel-shaped helmet.

"Hehe, look at the ugly dress of Sadimoka, and Saiins is so handsome." The knight was infatuated all the way.

"It's useless to be handsome! I think Saiins will climb down in a few clicks. Humph!" Stanton said with great disdain.

(In fact, barrel-shaped helmets are widely used among major knights. The cylindrical bottom can extend to the chest. Compared with ordinary curved helmets, barrel-shaped helmets in actual combat can better protect the wearer's cheeks.  and neck.)

Sadimoka held the shield in front of his left chest, and at the same time half-raised the knight's sword in his right hand with the sword pointed flat.

"It's a decent sword-thrusting style, not bad." King Tetrik was very satisfied with his knights, and would talk to Prince Tetrik from time to time, who was wearing a big-brimmed hat that covered his face.  (Trick is the younger brother of Grand Duke Patek. We have known this secret for a long time, but only Trick himself does not know, and he remains mysterious all day long.)

Sadimoka moved slowly, his eyes fixed on Saiins' eyes.  (The stupidest thing about knight duels is to show bravery by only looking at the eyes and not at the target) Saiins still maintained a lazy state, just slowly moving the direction of the sword tip as Sadimoka moved.

"Who do you think will win? Montetier."

"Hmm I'm not sure, but it seems that Saiins is confident. After all, he has been tempered on the battlefield." Montetier shook his head as if he had experience.

In the blink of an eye, Sadimoka drew his sword, and the blade was pointed at Saiins' waist.  Sadimoka is indeed experienced. He understands that it is difficult for a person wearing armor to make a big leap, (except for monsters all the way) and decisively chooses to stab quickly.

Seeing that Sadimoka was about to succeed before striking, Saiins calmly stepped back half a step, and at the same time raised the knight's sword in his hand from bottom to top.

"Ding!", Sadimoka's sword was raised high, revealing a gap in his chest.  Without hesitation, Saiins stepped forward and kicked hard.  Sadimoka was kicked unexpectedly and almost fell down.

"That's awesome!" I was a little discouraged. This Saiins is really not so fierce.

Sadimoka hit him with his shield, and took advantage of Saiins' opportunity to retreat, but before he could stand firm, Saiins' sword struck him in front of him again, at an alarmingly fast speed.

Sadimoka is worthy of being a first-class knight. The shield and sword met at the critical moment, and he bit Saiins's knight sword.

The two people were entangled together, and their weapons and armor made a harsh "rattling" sound.

"Open!" Saiins roared, forcefully blocking Sadimoka's shield and sword, and pushing the tall Sadimoka two steps away.

    "Goodwell doneamazing!beautiful"

The audience on the field became excited and cheered for Saiins in unison.

Sadimoka is well-trained and indifferent to everything off the field.  He quickly adjusted his pace and pressed forward again.

Saiins still looked indifferent?, changing positions at will.

But I soon discovered that every change of position he made blocked Sadimoka's offensive line.  But I don¡¯t want the two of them to end too quickly. I need to see more and get more information that is beneficial to me.

"Oh, Saiins was knocked down!" He grabbed Stanton's arm nervously and almost broke it.

Sadimoka took advantage of one of Saiins's attack errors and knocked him down with a fierce shield blow. Then, before Saiins fell to the ground completely, he followed up with a powerful chop and hit Saiins fiercely.  The left shoulder almost cut off Saiins' head.

"This arrogant guy, this is the result of not wearing a helmet." Stanton began to mutter to himself.

"Well done, Sadimoka. You were the first person to knock me down when we returned to Belistia." Saiins slowly got up.

    "But that's it for you."

The knights did not bother to attack opponents who were already on the ground, so Sadimoka did not continue to chase Saiins, but he immediately paid the price for his foolish chivalry.

Before Saiins finished speaking, he slashed at Sadimoka's neck like lightning, forcing Sadimoka to raise his sword to block. At this moment, Saiins stretched out his left hand and punched Sadimoka.  stuck in the chest.

Sadimoka staggered due to this heavy punch. Before he could stand still, Saiins flipped his right hand holding the sword and hit Sadimoka's head continuously with the weighted ball on the hilt.

Sadimoka¡¯s helmet was dented into a large piece, and his face was obviously seriously injured.

Saiins looked at the swaying Sadimoka, raised his knight's sword high, and slashed down hard.

"Bang"!  With a muffled sound, the wrapped-edged sword slashed at Sadimoka's breastplate, and the huge impact knocked him to the ground.

"In the first round, Sadimoka, a first-class knight of the Royal Guards Knights, faced Saiins, a first-class knight of the Third Empire Legion. Knight Saiins won!" The referee read out the result loudly.

The failed Sadimoka was carried off the stage by the attendants, and bursts of "boos" came from the audience.

After a short break, Saiins returned to the game, and I was fully dressed and stood on the stage.

"In the last round, Saiins, the first-level knight of the Third Empire Legion, versus Diboer, the knight from far away "Asia"!"

I tightened the cowhide strap on my back for the last time, held the "weird" double-ring sword with both hands, and walked step by step towards the holy knight Saiins, who stood in the middle of the stage like a god of war.
