    Chapter 527

Black Star District Department of War Science and Technology Secret Laboratory

Academician Chen Yanyi put down the experimental report in his hand and raised his hand to rub his aching forehead. A year ago, he and other researchers from the Anokhi Academy of Science moved to this secret space base.  His major is interstellar biology. This major was obviously not taken seriously in the war-torn era. However, as the battle for the invasion of soul creatures began, he and his team suddenly became very popular.

Every once in a while, an alien creature that he has never seen before will be sent to this secret laboratory.  Every creature is unseen and unheard of, and they have only one thing in common: they all caused a large number of casualties to humans before they died!

"Judging from the external appearance, it should belong to an insect-like creature. The body surface is covered with a carapace, and the key points are located on the front abdomen that is not covered by the carapace. It has many legs, no language organs, no hearing organs, and has compound eyes" A person from the Intelligence Division  The female intelligence officer read out the document in her hand expressionlessly.

Academician Chen Yanyi frowned slightly, and he felt something flashing through his brain.

The female intelligence officer noticed something strange about Chen Yanyi with her delicate and keen female insight, and she immediately stopped.

Chen Yanyi walked around the not-so-large space of the laboratory, searching for the fleeting information in his brain.  But like most scientific discoveries, that glimmer of inspiration started playing hide and seek with him like a naughty child.

There was a slight sound from the moving sensor door, and a pretty figure flashed into the room, "Teacher"

The female intelligence officer looked at the visitor in annoyance.

"Yan Qian." Chen Yanyi had a kind smile on his face, and he was not angry at all for interrupting his train of thought.

Meng Yanqian hesitated for a moment, "Did I interrupt your train of thought?" She realized from the unhappy expression on the intelligence officer's face that the timing of her appearance was somewhat inappropriate.

"It doesn't matter," Chen Yanyi waved his hand kindly, "It's always like this, isn't it?"

Meng Yanqian's eyes moved to the hateful-looking alien creature corpse on the dissecting table, "Are there new ones?" She circled around the dissecting table and stuck out her tongue playfully, "This one seems to be more beautiful than the last one.  ugly."

The female intelligence officer walked silently to the corner of the room and hid herself in the shadow of the light.  According to Imperial security regulations, researchers must have at least one intelligence officer present when conducting research.  This is her job.  The appearance of Meng Yanqian interrupted Academician Chen's train of thought, which made her feel very unhappy.  The expression on her face seemed to indicate this.

"What progress has been made in blood and gene research?" Chen Yanyi asked.

"As always, the genetic sequence has nothing in common with humans. Although outwardly they have many similarities to the insects we see, there is no relationship between the two. From the genes we found  Signs of artificial induction.¡±

"That means someone deliberately made them look like this?"

"It cannot be ruled out that they themselves have artificially interfered with their own evolutionary direction." Meng Yanqian shook her head and said uncertainly, "We have studied their external carapace. These carapace are more like exoskeletons and are not sensitive to temperature and cosmic rays."  They all have extremely strong resistance, and also have good defense against kinetic strikes and energy beams."

Chen Yanyi looked at Meng Yanqian thoughtfully, "What do you think?"

"I" Meng Yanqian hesitated for a moment, "I have a strange feeling, as if what we are studying is not the true appearance of these creatures. I can't explain clearly. It is just a feeling, as if they are just  ¡¡±

    "Just a piece of clothing?"

"Yes, that's what it feels like!"

Chen Yanyi felt that the feeling just now came back to his brain. He quickly walked to the brain and called up the previous data.  "Carapace, insect, genetic sequence with no similarity to humans" He turned around, "Intelligence Officer Alai, can you help me contact His Majesty the Emperor? I hope to see him immediately."

"I need a reasonable reason." Alai replied coldly.

"It's a question about the enemy we face. Only His Majesty the Emperor knows the answer."

Alai stared at Academician Chen Yanyi for a while, "Okay, I will report this situation to the director immediately."

That night, Yi Lexiang appeared in the laboratory in a dusty atmosphere, "Academician Chen, Li Shaojun said you have some questions you want to ask me?"

"I heard that His Majesty the Emperor has a good understanding of the types of intelligent life?"

Yi Lexiang rubbed his nose habitually, "Well, you can put it that way." He answered somewhat uncertainly.  ?Everything he knew came from the memories inherited by Mxer, but that information happened hundreds of millions of years ago. He could not guarantee whether the information was still accurate after such a long time.

¡°I want to know how many species of creatures that have evolved like humans are there in this universe?¡±

Yi Lexiang looked at Chen Yanyi in confusion. It seemed that he could not give him an answer to this question.  The scope of this problem is too broad.

Chen Yanyi immediately realized that his question made it difficult for the other party to answer.  "I mean which life form is dominant in this universe?"

"Generally speaking, organic life forms have established the most civilizations."

"But as far as we know, there is not much organic life in advanced civilizations."

"Oh, this is determined by the evolutionary direction of life from low to high. But looking at its origin, most life evolved from organic life forms."

    "Are you sure?"

Yi Lexiang smiled bitterly and shook his head, "I'm not sure. But the direction of life evolution will definitely develop in the direction of diversity, because if there are too many identical samples of a certain life form, it will inevitably trigger competition for the same resource demand and lead to  The final result of war will only be that all living things will perish. In order to avoid this happening, both the universe itself and the living things themselves will try their best to avoid this happening. This can also be regarded as a kind of evolutionary self-improvement.  .¡±

Chen Yanyi nodded thoughtfully.  "In other words, the enemies we encounter should also be diverse?"

    "This should be."

"But the results of our research are exactly the opposite. Although the enemies we encountered are slightly different, in essence they are all alien lifeforms that have nothing in common with human genes. What they have in common is that they all use biochemical methods.  The induction technology, and its external form are similar to those of lower life forms.¡±

    "what do you mean¡¡"

"I believe this is not a coincidence. The star fleet sent by the soul creatures must have been screened in advance. This screening is not based on combat power, but based on their genetic similarity to humans. But I don't understand.  What is their purpose in doing this?"

Yi Lexiang fell into deep thought.  Chen Yanyi's words opened a door to a field he had never thought of.  As Chen Yanyi said, no matter how life evolves, these life forms that are very similar to lower life forms will never become the main body of life in the universe.

If spiritual life represents the highest evolutionary form of the universe and is freed from the shackles of sex, they obviously cannot expand the number of their own race through sexual reproduction, which also means that they can only be a small part of the top of the biological pyramid.  In fact, they are more like hermits in this universe and will not interfere with the development and evolution of other life forms unless necessary.  Because the external world has no attraction for them, they pay more attention to their own evolution. Their spiritual world and the external world have reached a certain harmonious unity.

Just like Mxer, spiritual creatures only affect other civilizations at the spiritual level.

Then, organic life with entities will inevitably become the main body of this world.  Whether they are carbon-based life, silicon-based life, or life forms based on other elements, they must be flesh and blood.  And it can't be these crustacean creatures that only have biochemical fluids and neurons.

Chen Yanyi is right, soul creatures must have their reasons for doing this.

Tang Xingguang looked at the empty starry sky outside the base window, where a huge starship was docked.  Its appearance is no different from other human starships, except for its size.

"This is the least technological thing I have ever seen." Tang Xingguang murmured.

Yi Lexiang on the side couldn't help but smile, "But it can indeed help us reduce more casualties."

Sometimes we have to lament the unparalleled imagination and creativity of human beings.

As Yi Lexiang said before, designing a new starship is a very time-consuming and energy-consuming task, and it cannot be completed overnight.  But just like some things can be solved by changing the way of thinking, a young researcher's sudden idea immediately solved all the problems of building a new starship.

Human beings do not need to redesign a new starship. They only need to expand the original starship according to the size of the ghost mecha to bypass all the problems.  Of course, the resources consumed to build a starship of this size are far greater than building a conventional starship, but with the endless supply of resources in the Black Star Region, humans do not have to consider these problems at all.

The existence of the ¡®Perfect Crystal¡¯ also prevents humans from having to pay attention to the energy generated as the size of the starship increases.?As for the output issue, they only need to consider the integrity and strike resistance of the metal hull after the hull is lengthened and thickened, and whether the propulsion engine can work normally.

The first giant starship was built in just two months.  The starship designers solved all the problems perfectly. After all, no matter how large the starship is, it cannot compare with the planet-class space fortress.  Many of the problems faced in building giant starships can be answered in planetary fortresses.

"Will this thing allow us to win?" Tang Xingguang asked hesitantly.

"No." Yi Lexiang shook his head, "But it can buy us more time.
