Volume One, Chapter 1,558: British Surrender (Part 2)

Churchill had made up his mind to defend London, but Britain was not so prepared.  ""/""/

You cannot expect a country that has been traumatized by war and torn to pieces by artillery fire to win this war without all foreign aid.

The biggest problem facing the UK now is that the confidence and pride that the British were once proud of are disappearing bit by bit.  When an empire that was once extremely powerful suddenly discovers that it is no longer the boss of the world and has been left far behind, such a depressed and painful mood is difficult for outsiders to understand.

Hodge County is being frantically attacked by the Chinese, and a German army has also circled up from the flank. There is no room for saving the situation in Hodge County.  Once Hodge County falls into the hands of the Chinese, it will soon be London's turn.

What the British were worried about has finally happened.

On March 21, Hodge County was lost.

So, something that the British once thought would never happen in a million years happened: London, this city with a long history, will finally face the most direct attack from the enemy.

Churchill issued a call to defend London on March 22.  But it is very obvious that the confidence of the British team is insufficient, and the British people have become desperate about this.

Even though they still have full confidence, reality tells the British that they will no longer be able to persist.

The loss of troops was serious and could not be replenished at all.  The reserves of strategic materials are almost zero, and it is not even possible to organize a large-scale counterattack.

This is not an era of cold weapons, and victory cannot be achieved by relying on one's own tenacious willpower.

The three-dimensional attack from the sky and the ground is enough to collapse a huge city in an instant.  This is a sad scene.

The Chinese and German coalition forces did not immediately launch an attack on London. Instead, they used their air superiority to drop countless leaflets on the city of London.

The contents of the leaflets are mostly the same, telling the British how bad the current situation is, telling the British that London has no hope of continuing to hold on, and telling the British that surrender is their only correct choice.

Leaflets cannot make a city surrender immediately, but leaflets are enough to further collapse their already insufficient confidence.

Churchill¡¯s speeches on March 22, 23, and 24 were nothing more than to make the British people have a hundred times more confidence to resolutely defend the British capital and resolutely repel the enemy¡¯s attack.

No flowers, no applause, no cheers.

The British have been completely numb to such speeches. They don¡¯t need incentives now. What they need is a government that can give them a sense of security and a government that can stop wars.  British soldiers don't need such incentives. What they need are bullets, machine guns, and all weapons that can help them.

But these are things that Churchill couldn't come up with.

At this time, the attack on London was proceeding in an orderly manner.  A huge force of more than 300,000 people from the sky and the ground is about to launch the final attack on London.

Political settlement is also underway, but obviously the effect is not great.  Churchill and the government he led were not willing to succumb to Chinese fire so easily.

The patience of the Chinese is disappearing, the patience of the Germans is disappearing, the patience of everyone is disappearing¡§

On March 26, the first round of bombardment of London from the ground began.

Powerful artillery fire shrouded London. The shells set fire to London with the roar of death. Explosions continued to ring out in London. The firefighters were helpless to deal with the fires everywhere.

This is one of the saddest moments in London's history.

The Chinese seem to have inexhaustible artillery shells. They bomb the city almost continuously.  Maybe they thought that using artillery shells would be enough to completely destroy the city.

The most critical moment in the history of London and Britain has arrived!

Fighters in the air also joined in the bombing of London. The endless bombing was a terrible torture to the British soul and body.

For King George VI of England, this was also endless torture.

George VI was known as "Bertie" to his family and "Prince Albert" to the public before he ascended the throne.  He was the second son of George V and Queen Mary.

In 1920 he became Duke of York, Earl of Inverness and Baron of Killarney.  At that time it seemed that he had no inheritance. From 1337 to 1453, Britain and France fought the "Hundred Years War", and Britain first won and then lost.  Wales was united with England in 1536.  In 1588, he defeated the Spanish "Invincible Fleet" and established maritime hegemony.  In 1640, Britain was the first bourgeois revolution to break out in the world and became a pioneer of bourgeois revolution.  The republic was proclaimed on May 19, 1649.  The dynasty was restored in 1660, and the "Glorious Revolution" took place in 1688, establishing a constitutional monarchy.

England merged with Scotland in 1707 and with Ireland in 1801.  From the second half of the 18th century to the first half of the 19th century, China became the first country in the world to complete the industrial revolution.  The 19th century was the heyday of the British Empire. In 1914, the colonies it occupied were 111 times larger than the mainland. It was the largest colonial power and called itself the "Empire on which the Sun Never Sets."  It began to decline after World War I.  Britain established Northern Ireland in 1920, and from 1921 to 1922, it allowed southern Ireland to break away from its rule and establish a independent country.  In 1931, the Act of Westminster was promulgated, forcing the Dominion to recognize its autonomy in domestic and foreign affairs. The colonial system of the British Empire was shaken from then on.

1944 was one of the saddest years in British history. During this year, the Chinese Army landed in the UK and completely defeated the last line of defense in the UK, forcing the UK to surrender.

This old power was completely defeated by China, an emerging power. When the British begin to recall this period of history countless years later, what kind of evaluation will they make?

No one can know, no one can answer.

Now, Britain has surrendered, and China¡¯s enemy is the last one left:

    The United States of America!
