The alarm sound was followed by a scream, and the alarm whistle was secretly silenced by the Tatars, and no more sound was made.  It was a starless night, the night was as black as charcoal, and nothing could be seen outside the camp that had lost its light source.  After a scream, the world became quiet again.

All the soldiers stopped moving and looked to the west where the alarm came from.

The whole world was frighteningly quiet, especially ferocious, and the only sound that could be heard was the beating of my own heart.  With a sudden flash, Qin Mingtao couldn't find the white figure in the mountain with his flintlock gun.  He narrowed his eyes unwillingly and froze there for a moment.

    "Get away!"

The suffocating silence was suddenly broken, a torrential rain of arrows shrieked through the night sky, came from the dark darkness, and stabbed at the Western Wall defender holding a torch.

A dozen soldiers were unable to hide and fell into the first wave of arrows, suddenly covered in a pool of blood.  The horn was blown violently, spreading the warning of the attack to the whole camp.  The night watch soldiers hid under the crenellated walls and roared loudly. The night watch guards on the walls in other directions quickly moved closer to the west wall to support the enemy side.

"Night attack!!! Support the Western Wall!"

    "Tatar night attack! Everyone gather!"

Officers at all levels began to direct the defense of the camp wall, trying to keep the Tatars out of the camp.  There was a chaotic sound of footsteps in the darkness, as if it was the countdown of death, heading towards this direction at high speed across the dark wilderness.  Qin Mingtao angrily put away his flintlock gun, strode to the big drum on the west city wall, and hammered it with all his strength.

The thumping sound made people¡¯s scalp numb, and it kept ringing over the suffocating camp, waking the soldiers in the Gaishui camp from their sleep.  But before they entered combat mode, there was a popping sound outside in the darkness, as if heavy sacks were being thrown into the pit.  Qin Mingtao's heart pounded, and he shouted loudly to the flag soldiers,

"The Tatars are filling the horse pit. They have to cross the third level to resist the horses! Light the catapult!"

The flag leader pulled out the "fire" order with red letters on a white background.  Hold it high and shake it hard.  The flag order is issued.  Dozens of cylinders filled with oil-impregnated wood were lit by catapults and thrown out by the soldiers on duty.  The wood fell into pieces as soon as it flew into the air.  The dark field was illuminated for thirty or forty meters.

By some light.  Qin Mingtao finally saw the scene outside.

Wearing a heavy shield, we dismounted and charged from outside the west city wall.  There was not a single soldier in the incoming tide.  Not even ordinary soldiers.  That's more than two thousand red-armored guards.  There were more than two thousand fierce and elite guard troops named Tatars.  The murderous look on his face was reflected in the looming firelight.  Step by step, they rushed towards the Gaishui camp.

The Middle Ages without lighting facilities.  Night battles are extremely difficult to organize. Huang Taiji brought all the elite soldiers with the most combat experience.

All the whistles in the outermost Gaishui camp were shot to death by cold arrows.  There wasn't even time to sound the alarm.  The two outer barriers were quickly removed.  The horse pit in front of Juma on the third floor was also filled with soil bags brought by the Tatars.  More than two thousand soldiers later, the gold and red armored troops quickly crossed the horse pit on the west side of the camp.  Holding the heavy door panel, he rushed towards the earth wall.

With the help of burning wood, the soldiers on duty at night began to use flintlocks to stop the attackers, but after passing through those thick door "shields", it was difficult for the lead bullets to break through the armor of the guards.  Every time the Tatar team took a step forward, a piece of the burning wood was destroyed.  That line of Jurchens seems to be the devil devouring light, eating more and more land into the darkness.

If it is daytime, as long as it hits the fatal spot, the lead bullet can still cause death and injury to the Tatars behind the door panel.  But at this moment, I could only vaguely see some moving shadows, and I couldn't see clearly where the Tatars were hiding behind the door panel, so I couldn't take aim at all.  The long-range firepower advantage of firing a gun in the dark with no vision seems like a joke.

Soon, all the lighting firewood thrown out was destroyed by the Tatars.

    "Boom! Boom! Boom!"

Qin Mingtao beat the drum so hard that he almost broke the one-meter-wide cowhide drum surface.  The soldiers who finally woke up suddenly fired their weapons, grabbed their flintlock guns, and rushed out of the tent to perform the simplest gathering.

In the blink of an eye, the Tatars had rushed under the city wall.

    "Lighting! Grenades!"

The catapult was finally loaded for the second time, and a large piece of "lighting plank" was poured into the darkness.  The firelight passed by, and the visibility outside finally recovered some.  Most of the night-watch soldiers came here to support them, and at least 60 to 70% of the night-watch soldiers were gathered on the west wall.  With an order, eight or nine hundred grenades were thrown towards the outside of the dark city wall.

In the huge light released by the black powder explosion, dozens of red-armored guardsmen who rushed too fast broke into the killing zone and were blown into human shapes, losing their brave lives in an instant.  The other red-armored guards did not dare to approach again.?Finally, he jumped off the west wall, pulled out his long knife and walked towards the dark camp, where the sounds of metal collision and gun cracking kept coming.

    "Father! Danger!"

Several soldiers followed and stopped a white-armored soldier who suddenly rushed forward in the darkness.  The Tatar's saber struck the South China Sea steel knife, making a clear sound of metal collision.  The tall Tatar laughed, rolled on the spot and hid in the darkness.  Qin Mingtao strode forward, raised the long knife in his hand, and roared loudly into the dark camp,

    ¡°Are you mountains!?¡±

The nearby soldiers heard the angry shouts of King Dong, and finally found their way in the terrifying darkness, and quickly gathered here.

    "We are the foothills!"

The more than a hundred soldiers nearby ignored the white-armored soldiers who were disappearing and appearing, and followed him, forming a circle around Dong Wang.  The scattered torches gathered together and finally illuminated the surrounding area for more than ten meters.  The angry Qin Mingtao, with bloodshot eyes, continued to stride forward, raised his knife and shouted,

    ¡°Are you mountains!?¡±

Before the soldiers could answer the call, a hundred Tatar cavalry suddenly rushed out of the darkness like a burst of fire that burned the sky and extinguished the earth.  Under the illumination of the torch, the reflected cold light of the saber was like a life-threatening scythe, rushing towards this small team of more than a hundred people.

"God bless me, please kill this thief!"

The Shanwen Iron Armor who took the lead was none other than Huang Taiji, the Great Khan of the Later Jin Dynasty.
