Du Rui and Xue Rengui hurried to the station of Zuo Qianniu Guards outside Chang'an City. After the military reform, the Forbidden Army of Nanya and Beiya among the Imperial Guards of the Tang Dynasty, except for some who served as guards, all moved outside the city.  The unified control of the Ministry of War.

When the two of them rushed outside the gate of the camp, they heard the roar of muskets coming from the camp. Xue Rengui couldn't help but beam with joy. Although he was usually mature and steady, once it came to something he was interested in, he immediately  His true colors were revealed. After seeing the power of muskets before, he was even more excited. He wanted to go and see with his own eyes the huge power of the musket battle formation described by Du Rui.

Du Yaozu, who was presiding over the training in the camp, heard that Du Rui was coming and hurriedly ran to the camp gate to greet him. When he saw Du Rui, he hurriedly bowed and saluted: "The commander-in-chief is here in person. I will miss you from afar, so please atone for your sins!"

Du Rui looked at Du Yaozu and said with a smile: "Okay! Don't say anything about being rude or not! Yaozu! Do you still remember this one!?"

Du Yaozu looked at Xue Rengui, and after a long time he asked tentatively: "But my aunt is here!?"

Xue Rengui had also met Du Yaozu before, but at that time Du Yaozu was just a servant in the Song Dynasty's palace. Who would have thought that after not seeing each other for many years, Du Yaozu would now become the commander of a brigade in the Tang Dynasty's Forbidden Army.

After Xue Rengui and Du Yunxi got married, they often went to Du Rui's house and taught martial arts to several juniors in Song Guogong's house. Du Yaozu was one of them.

Du Rui smiled and said: "Rengui! You didn't expect it! Yaozu is now considered to be outstanding. A few years ago, he led the army to conquer Tubo for his brother. During the Great Eclipse, Yaozu made great contributions! Later he formed Qianniu  Wei, my brother bought him from Xi Jun and became the commander of this army! Yaozu! How is the training of the Musketeers?"

When Du Yaozu heard this, he looked quite proud and said: "Don't worry, Commander! According to the method taught by the Commander, I have practiced very well. It's just that the muskets from the Ministry of Works were less. Otherwise, I won't be able to do it today."  I can also let the commander and my aunt watch it!"

Du Rui nodded and asked: "How many people and horses are equipped with muskets now!?"

Du Yaozu replied: "There are only three thousand people at present, but it has begun to take shape."

When Du Rui heard this, he was also very happy and said: "Okay! Let's go and have a look. You kid, don't be lazy and cunning. If you don't practice well, I will take your name and replace it with you during this Western Expedition."  Let others go!¡±

Du Yaozu became anxious when he heard this. Like his uncle Du Pingsheng, he was a true madman. When Du Rui wanted to bring him over from the Anxi Army, he was too unwilling to go to Song Guogong's house every two days.  He ran away and clamored to go to the border to fight the barbarians. Now that he finally got a fight, how could he miss it in vain?

"If the commander doesn't believe it, please go into the camp and watch the musketeers perform martial arts. If the general does not practice well, it will not be too late for the commander to change the general!"

Du Rui smiled and said: "Okay! I'll follow you!"

Du Rui has always been very fond of Du Yaozu. He seems reckless, but in fact he is rough and subtle, and he often has some creative thinking. Although he is not Du Rui's disciple in name, he is under Du Rui's sect, in terms of military affairs.  Undoubtedly the one that Du Rui values ??the most.

The three of them entered the camp and followed Du Yaozu to the martial arts field. At this time, the musketeers were still practicing. On the huge martial arts field, three thousand musketeers were divided into three columns. There were not even a thousand people in each row.  Under the command of the team officer, the formation was practiced.

When Xue Rengui saw it, he couldn't help but frown secretly and said to Du Rui: "Brother! Is the frontal defense of this formation too weak? If heavy local troops attack the front, I am afraid it will collapse at the first touch!"

Before Du Rui could speak, Du Yaozu explained for Du Rui: "My lord, please don't underestimate this formation. This was instructed by the commander himself. My lord, please don't look at the sergeants lined up like this. The frontal defense is weak."  , but if the other side dares to attack head-on with heavy troops, I guarantee that he will never come back!"

There is actually nothing mysterious about the formation that Du Yaozu mentioned. It is just a three-stage attack tactic. This tactic was historically a matchlock tactic that appeared in the 16th century. At that time, when the muskets could not fire continuously,  This tactic made up for the slow firing speed of the musket.  There were records of three-stage shooting in the Ming Dynasty and the Warring States Period in Japan. This shooting method was a fast, continuous and effective shooting method before the invention of repeating firearms.

According to the "History of the Ming Dynasty", when Mu Ying, the general who pacified the south in the early Ming Dynasty, first used firearms to deal with rebel elephants and other wild beasts, he felt that the reloading speed of gunpowder was too slow, so he improved a tactical shooting method.

Specifically, a team of three people formed a team, with the musketeer at the front shooting first, then retreating to the back of the team to concentrate on loading ammunition, and the second soldier stepped forward to fire.  Three people alternateBulleting and firing triple the efficiency of a matchlock gun that originally took a minute or more to fire, which is similar to the European half-turn tactic.

During the Warring States Period in Japan, during the Battle of Nagashino, Oda Nobunaga's iron artillery team defeated Takeda Katsuyori's cavalry with a three-stage attack.  He first arranged for 3,000 musketeers to install anti-horse fences in front of the formation, and then arranged soldiers to work in groups of three, with the soldier with the highest shooting accuracy serving as the shooter, while the remaining two were responsible for assembling bullets and match ropes.

After the shooter fired, the second soldier took over the musket and loaded the gunpowder from the front end, tamped it down and then loaded the bullet.  The third soldier simultaneously adjusted the position of the matchlock from behind, moved the trigger to its original position, and then handed the musket to the shooter, thus achieving uninterrupted firing.

In addition, there is also a theory that Okubo Tadayo led a small group of musketeers to harass the Takeda army during the siege of Hamamatsu.  Divide the army into four teams, and every time a command is shouted, one of the teams will fire at once and then reload, thus creating the illusion that there are a large number of musketeers on your side.

Although the matchlock gun was more powerful than the crossbow at that time, after shooting the musket, you had to add gunpowder and lead shot, pull out the purge bar from under the barrel, tamp the lead shot and gunpowder, light the matchlock and aim at the enemy. After shooting, occasionally  To clear the gun holes, it takes about a minute to fire a shot, and after the shooting, the enemies fighting at close range will charge, especially the cavalry, and the musketeers will suffer great losses.

So Western countries came up with a tactic. The musketeers were first divided into three rows. After the first row finished shooting, the second row fired. When the second row was shooting, the third row and the third row exchanged positions and went to the rear.  Load gunpowder, etc. After the second shooting, go to the third row. Shoot. The second row switches positions with the first row. Replenish ammunition. After the third row. shoots, go to the first row. This will cycle.  The interval time is greatly shortened.

Early matchlock soldiers used this tactic to continuously demoralize the enemy and frighten the enemy cavalry's horses. They were feared by feudal knights in the Middle Ages.  When the flintlock gun came out, due to its adaptability to various weather conditions and the speed and convenience of loading, the flintlock gun combined with the three-stage attack method could effectively disrupt the enemy's formation and inflict a large amount of damage to the enemy.  casualties, so muskets gradually became the protagonist on the military stage, accelerating the demise of the feudal forces in Western Europe.

Nowadays, the firearms of the Tang Dynasty have developed directly from matchlocks to flintlock guns. Coupled with the three-stage strike method, the power of muskets in war will undoubtedly be greatly improved.

Du Yaozu explained it to Xue Rengui. Seeing that Xue Rengui still didn't believe it, he looked at Du Rui and said, "Commander! Why don't you let the sergeants practice with live ammunition and show it to me!?"

Since Du Rui came to Du Yaozu, he wanted to show off. Xue Rengui was the coach of this Western Expedition, and Du Yaozu was going to serve as a general under Xue Rengui. If he didn't take advantage of the opportunity to show off the combat effectiveness of the Zuo Qianniu Guards, he would have to do something on the battlefield in the future.  I've been on the bench for a while.

"Okay! You preside over the drill!"

Du Yaozu agreed and waved the order flag. The soldiers in the audience received the order and immediately started loading ammunition. They had been practicing for more than a month and were already proficient.

    "Boom!"

    "Boom!"

    "Boom!"

The roar when the muskets were fired suddenly sounded, and it was uninterrupted. After the front row finished shooting, they immediately retreated to the back and continued to load ammunition. The second row continued to fire, repeating three rounds in a row.  Xue Rengui was dumbfounded. He saw that an earthen wall in the distance was crumbling from the bullets, and it was riddled with holes.

Du Yaozu looked at Xue Rengui with some pride and said, "Master! How do you do?"

"A magical weapon! It really is a magical weapon!"

When Du Yaozu heard this, he was even more proud and said: "Commander! Master Gu! I feel that if our army of the Tang Dynasty can use this flintlock rifle, there will probably be no opponent of the Tang army in the world."  !¡±

Hearing this, Du Rui couldn't help but frown. Looking at the expressions of Du Yaozu and Xue Rengui, it was clear that he was completely obsessed with the flintlock gun. He even felt that with the flintlock gun in his hand, I was the best in the world.

But Du Rui knows very well that based on the current manufacturing capabilities of the Tang Dynasty, it is not yet time for hot weapons to completely replace cold weapons. Although the current flintlock guns are quite powerful, if they really completely abandon cold weapons and use  Hot weapons, I'm afraid it can't be done.

Just like the Opium War in later generations, in the minds of ordinary people, the biggest reason for the failure of the Opium War was that the Manchu bows, arrows, and spears were no match for the British foreign guns and cannons.

But what is the actual difference?

During the Opium War, the British army used two types of muskets: BrownBess front-loading flintlock musket and Baker front-loading smoothbore.??fire gun.

BrownBess muzzleloader flintlock musket.  The gun is 1.42 meters long, the barrel caliber is 0.76 inches, and the bullet caliber is 0.71 inches.  This type of gun was widely used in the Napoleonic Wars, the American Revolutionary War and other wars. The United Kingdom has equipped approximately 3 million muskets of this type.

Baker front-loaded rifled flintlock musket.  1.16 meters long, 0.75 inch caliber, uses the same caliber bullet as BrownBes.

Compare it with the divine arm bow that appeared in the Song Dynasty in China. The divine arm bow was a crossbow widely used in the Song Dynasty. Its style was imported from Xixia.  The crossbow body is three feet two inches long, the crossbow bow is four feet five inches and eight minutes long, the two crossbows are each nine inches and two minutes long, the crossbow is four inches long, the two flashes are each one foot, one inch and one minute long, the string is two feet and five inches long, and the arrow is several inches long.  .

Whenever you evaluate the pros and cons of a long-range weapon, you should consider three points: range, rate of fire, and lethality.  From an economic perspective, we also need to consider the cost and manufacturing cycle, as well as the training cycle.

Let¡¯s talk about the range first. According to records, the maximum range of the BrownBess front-loading flintlock musket is about 300 yards, and the effective killing range is about 80 yards. Anyone who is hit beyond this distance is extremely unlucky.

The maximum range of the Baker rifled gun is reduced due to the rifling, but thanks to the stabilizing effect of the rifling, its effective range is more than 200 meters.  However, due to the low rate of fire, the British army did not equip a large number of rifled guns.

The general maximum range of ancient crossbows is about 300 meters, and the maximum range of the divine arm bow is more than 500 meters, and its accuracy is very high and it can be aimed accurately.

Then let¡¯s look at the rate of fire. In the 18th century, the British had adopted paper-packed ammunition to facilitate loading, but the whole process was still not fast.  According to official training manual records, a BrownBess muzzle-loading flintlock gun requires 12 steps to fire. In 1834, records from the British Army's test of muzzle-loading guns using detonators showed that even skilled soldiers could only fire at a rate of  Three serves, this is the result without combat pressure.

In actual combat, due to various factors, it is considered good to be able to maintain two rounds per minute.  And soldiers are prone to making mistakes when they are panicking on the battlefield.  One of the most common mistakes is to forget to remove the purge rod from the barrel after loading. As soon as the trigger is pulled, the purge rod will fly to where it is, and naturally it cannot be reloaded.  Another common mistake is to mistakenly put the warhead instead of gunpowder into the muzzle of the gun in a hurry. As a result, the bullet does not fire, and the soldier can only withdraw from the queue and slowly dig out the warhead.

It is not difficult to imagine how pleasant it is to use a straight rod to dig into the barrel of a gun filled with gunpowder and bullets.  This can be regarded as a foresight. You must know that the muskets were fired in a row at that time. With so many guns fired at the same time, many soldiers did not know whether they had fired or misfired during the battle, and often reloaded multiple times.

Compared with smoothbore guns, Baker rifled guns are even more troublesome. Since the warhead and rifling must be tightly engaged when using a rifled gun, it is impossible to use projectiles with a diameter smaller than the inner diameter of the barrel like a smoothbore gun. Therefore, the loading of a front-loaded rifle is very difficult.  Difficult and time-consuming.  A rate of fire of one shot per minute is considered good.  In order to maintain a large amount of firepower, regular troops in various countries at that time were still equipped with muskets, and only a few avant-garde troops were equipped with rifled guns.

Let¡¯s look at the Divine Arm Bow. The rate of fire of this thing is about 3 to 4 rounds per minute, and it is very easy to operate. It is so simple that it is hard to imagine that anyone can install it wrongly.  The only problem is that the God's Arm Bow requires human hands to pull the string. If it is fired too many times, it will easily tire and the speed will decrease.  However, after the musket is fired continuously, the barrel will be heated, causing the chamber to explode or the bullet power to weaken.

Finally, let¡¯s talk about the destructive power. Whether it is a Brown Bess or a Baker musket, the bullets used are of the same caliber and are quite powerful. Because lead bullets are small in size and have concentrated power, they are often embedded in bones and cannot be removed.  Moreover, the trajectory of bullets in the body is usually not straight, and the damage caused is incomparable to ordinary cold weapons.

The penetrating power of the Divine Arm Bow is even stronger than that of musket bullets. According to records, the crossbow arrows it fires can penetrate two layers of iron armor, which even ordinary musket bullets may not be able to do.  But the destructive power is not as good as bullets, and the wounds are easier to treat.  But crossbow arrows also have advantages. They can be coated with poison or equipped with guns.

Let¡¯s talk about the cost. The materials of the Divine Arm Bow are a crossbow body made of mulberry wood, a crossbow tip made of sandalwood, a copper trigger, and a string made of hemp rope.  It is said that the cost of the God's Arm Bow is still relatively cheap. You can't find carpenters in China to make this, right?

Based on this inference, if the Manchu Qing Dynasty used the divine arm bow as a weapon and used the same array to confront the British army, the British army would probably lose.

"It's a pity that the Manchus and Qing Dynasties not only didn't pay attention to firearms, but they didn't even pay attention to bows and crossbows.  The failure of the Qing Dynasty was first a failure of government cowardice, and then a technical failure.

The development of hot weapons is a far more complicated process than the development of cold weapons. It's not that Du Rui doesn't want the Tang army to fight with submachine guns now, but it's simply impossible to do so based on the current technological level and manufacturing capabilities of the Tang Dynasty.  .

China's early muskets appeared in the Song Dynasty. They were called "sudden muskets" at that time. Their basic shape is: the front section is a thick bamboo tube; the expanded part in the middle section is the powder chamber, and there is a small ignition hole on the outer wall;  The rear section is a hand-held wooden stick.

When it is fired, it leans on the ground with a wooden stick, holds the iron pipe with its left hand, lights the fire with the right hand, makes a loud noise, shoots out stones or projectiles, and the unburned gunpowder gas sprays out of the muzzle for two or three meters.

What this primitive musket can really do is psychological deterrence. First of all, due to the ratio of raw materials of gunpowder, its thrust is quite limited, and its range is probably less than a hundred meters. And because the shooting method is very stiff, it is not effective at all.  It may use the modern "three-point-one-line" aiming method, and because the barrel is a bamboo tube, after about four to five shots, the bamboo at the end of the barrel will be burned due to the explosion of gunpowder.  It becomes very fragile and will break if it falls to the ground. What's more, when shooting, the chamber will explode because the chamber pressure is too high. How can bamboo withstand such an explosion? Therefore, a twenty-person musketeer team can shoot in one shot.  It would be a blessing if five people could fire successfully. It would be a blessing if two of the five bullets fired did not fall before reaching the enemy. And when they reach the enemy, another bullet may be fired.  A bullet flew past the enemy, and the last bullet turned out to be because the enemy's armor was strong.  All in all, it's just a deterrent.

In the Yuan Dynasty, first the proportion of gunpowder was readjusted, resulting in the pressure of the explosive air flow caused by the same volume of gunpowder in the same space being increased by about three times compared with the original pressure. In other words, the acceleration of the projectile became the original  Three times, the muzzle speed has become 1.732 times the original. In contrast, the bamboo tube barrel has been replaced by a pig iron tube, and the chamber pressure it can withstand has been greatly increased. In this way, the use value of the gun is due to its power.  , range and durability have been greatly improved. Because its bullets are mainly stones and lead bullets, this new type of musket is named "Stone Fire Arrow".

However, due to its large size and heavy weight, it was not an excellent equipment to replace bows and arrows. Instead, it was sent to Europe to replace crossbows to deal with heavily armored knights.

At the same time, the Yuan Dynasty also produced early pistols. Although they were easy to carry, their power and range were pitifully low, and they basically had no tactical value. They were more suitable for high-ranking officials to use for self-defense, or just as playthings.

As for Western Europe, a similar weapon appeared in Italy in the mid-14th century. It was called the "Firelock Gun". In fact, it was basically similar to the later "matchlock gun", but its size and weight were far greater than the latter, and its lethality seemed to be the same.  Similar to a matchlock gun, this weapon is mainly used for the defense of castle fortresses.

At that time, the cavalry was also equipped with muskets, and the German lancers once used "fire door guns" to frighten the French army.  The muskets used by the cavalry are shorter and smaller. When shooting, tie the gun to the neck with a rope, put a 'Y' shaped shelf on the saddle to hold the barrel of the gun, and the wooden stick at the rear is pressed against the iron armor on the chest.  , igniting fire in the right hand, I guess this is also the earliest "riding iron", but regarding the value of this unit, it frightened the French army instead of defeating it. It can be seen that it is also a deterrent.

By the early fifteenth century, smaller hand-held artillery appeared on the battlefield. The wooden handle of the original "portal gun" was redesigned so that it could be leaned on the soldier's shoulder when firing, instead of being mounted on a stand.  Or on the ground, thus, the definition of a rifle was formally determined as: a long-barreled firearm for individual shoulder fire.

¡°Moreover, craftsmen installed a mechanical device that can control ignition into the barrel of the new musket.  However, this weapon can only exert greater power at close range and in a volley of gunfire.

By the middle of the 15th century, the "matchlock gun" that made a splash on the Japanese battlefield finally appeared.  The ignition mechanism of the original matchlock gun was a simple "C" shaped hook, with one end fixed to the side of the butt and a slow-burning match rope clamped at the other end.  Match rope is made by twisting hemp rope treated with potassium nitrate or other chemicals. In the later stage, collodion was also used to draw silk and twist the hemp rope soaked in castor oil. In the Arab region, "burning water" was even used to soak the hemp rope.  Make a match rope.

Projectiles are made of iron or lead. Generally speaking, because lead is soft and easy to deform, it has considerable advantages when loading and hitting the target. Otherwise, when loading projectiles, the iron projectiles need to be placed at the mouth of the chamber.  It's a waste of time to use a wooden hammer to hit the projectile stick and push the iron bullet into the chamber.  When firing a matchlock gun, you can use your fingers to push the metal hook into the fire door to cause the matchlock to ignite the ignition powder and continue to ignite the propellant powder.

In this way, the shooter can push the match rope to light the fire while aiming.  In terms of counteracting recoil, the matchlock gun used smoothbore technology.  However, because it is loaded with a single shot in the front chamber and the projectiles and propellants are packed separately, its rate of fire is very slow, about one round in 30 seconds, and it is a highly trained musketeer.

Furthermore, the exposed match rope is very easy to be blown out by the wind or extinguished by rain, and the shooting is very easy to fail. The shooter also needs to use a fire breaker to directly light the match rope, so re-firing after the shooting fails is also very troublesome.

With the development of technology, the problem of needing a fire break to directly ignite the match rope was successfully solved. Western European craftsmen added a small torch driven by the trigger to the rear of the gun. This small torch kept burning during the battle.  When it is time to shoot, the trigger is pulled to make the small torch move forward and contact the match rope inserted in front. The small torch is made of cloth soaked in castor oil, and the fire burning on it is not easy to extinguish.

In this way, the arquebusier does not have to re-ignite the arquebus after a failed shot, making it much more convenient to kill people.  The caliber of this new trigger-fired matchlock gun is generally 15 to 20 mm, the barrel diameter ratio is generally 40 to 45, and the maximum range is generally 60 to 80 meters.

After that, musket technology continued to revolutionize in two fields, one was firing technology, and the other was ammunition technology.  The development of the former began with the invention of a "tinder ignition" method in Europe in the late 16th century.

The technical principle is to put a "tinder" or a short match in a small tube, and the gunman will only light the tinder when using the gun, so that the target will not be exposed at night because the gun carries a lit match.  The "Tinder" matchlock was the forerunner of the later tunnel-fired gun.

The flintlock gun was invented by the French in the 17th century. Its basic structure is like a musket, which uses the flint on the hammer to strike to generate sparks and ignite the gunpowder.  The average caliber of a flintlock gun is about 13.7 mm. Since the breech-loading musket had not yet been invented, this placed high demands on the ammunition loading technology at that time. According to the previous loading method, when loading projectiles, the projectiles needed to be placed  Go to the muzzle of the chamber, use a wooden hammer to hit the projectile stick, and push the bullet into the chamber. This is very time-consuming. On the battlefield, it means a waste of life.

Later, gunsmiths from Pennsylvania in the United States created a method to speed up loading. They used linen cloth or deerskin pieces dipped in grease to wrap projectiles and load them into the bore to reduce friction. This method not only speeded up loading, but also  It has a breath-holding effect, and the accuracy is improved, and the range is also increased.

If the emergence of the flintlock marks the end of purely mechanical ignition era technology, then the subsequent explosive ignition technology is the beginning of the instant ignition era.

The first person to conduct explosive ignition technology stimulation experiments was a Scottish priest named Alexander Vosys.  Vosys initially used containers to hold thunder powder.  Later, spread the thunder powder between two pieces of paper.  The paper roll "flash cap" was further produced. This invention greatly accelerated the firing speed of firearms.

In 1808, French machinist Pauly used a paper flash cap and used a needle tip to fire. In 1821, Richards of Birmingham invented a "detonating bomb" using a paper flash cap.  Later, some people pressed "explosive bombs" on long strips of paper or linen to automatically feed them and fire them with a hammer.  In this way, the percussion gun was more perfect, and in the 19th century, the needle percussion gun was also born.  It first appeared in 1840 and was invented by the German Dresser, so it is also called the Dresser needle firing gun.  Its technical characteristics are: the ammunition is loaded from the rear end of the barrel and fired by needle firing.  This weapon was first equipped by the Prussian army. In Prussia's three kingdom unification wars, it shone brilliantly, causing the cavalry of the three countries of Denmark, Austria and France to change their colors.

After a series of changes in musket design, the design of muskets gradually became unified around the world at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.  That is an automatic rifle with a caliber of about 7.92 mm.  However, after World War I, various countries have actively developed self-loading rifles.  Many new rifles have appeared successively, such as the Simonov of the former Soviet Union, the French M1918, the German Bergmann, the American Garand and the British Springfield, etc., which are basically similar to "  "38" rifle.

Of course, it is impossible for Du Rui to lead a group of blacksmiths and carpenters from Datang to manufacture automatic rifles under the current technical conditions. He does not have this ability yet. All he can do is rely on the existing conditions to make Datang  The history of weapons spans more than a thousand years and has directly reached the level of firing rifles.

However, allowing weapons to evolve and making the Tang army invincible in terms of equipment was only a factor that affected the course of the war, and it would not be the key to determining the outcome of the war.

In the era when Du Rui lived, as the world entered the new century, various new weapons emerged one after another. Particularly eye-catching ones include F35, unmanned reconnaissance aircraft, individual soldier systems, space satellite weapons, etc.  .

But despite the endless emergence of new weapons, people still play a pivotal role as the operators of the weapons.  It can be said that without human operation, no matter how precise a weapon is, it may be a pile of scrap metal. On the contrary, no matter how brave and skilled a person is, if he does not have the cooperation of precise weapons, he may be defeated.

?War actually covers many factors, including people, weapons, weather, geography, and even mysterious factors. It seems that the decisive factor in the outcome of a war cannot simply be said to be people or weapons.

Du Rui has always believed that the decisive factor in winning or losing a war is people.  Only talents are the real heroes who promote the development of history. In wars, only talents are the key factor that determines the outcome of the war.

People in war are actually officials, soldiers and civilians.  Commanders who command properly, or even have superb command skills, can greatly mobilize the enthusiasm of soldiers for war. Soldiers with rich combat experience, high combat literacy, tenacious will, and experienced hundreds of battles can promote the war situation to be favorable, and the people will heartily support and actively participate in the war.  , can also be used to defeat enemies.  Looking at all the armed struggles in Chinese history, this is basically the case, with human factors playing a decisive role.

Of course, the decisive factor in the outcome of a war is people, but this decisive factor is definitely not just the individual quality and fighting will of a person.  In fact, individual soldier quality and fighting will are only one aspect of human factors, and a more important aspect is that weapons and equipment are also human factors.

Some people may think that weaponism and humanism have always been incompatible factions, so how come they have come together now.

In primitive society, people dealt with wild beasts with their bare hands, and the consequences can be imagined, with heavy human casualties.  Later, society progressed and people invented weapons. A weak-handed person could easily kill wild beasts by picking up a shotgun.

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? may seem like a man has used an external shotgun, but in fact, he slayed the beast with his own strength and wisdom.  Weapons are the crystallization of human wisdom, and the factor of weapons is the human factor, because the level of human intelligence directly determines the effectiveness of weapons. Highly intelligent humans create efficient weapons, which directly determines the death of low-intelligence beasts.

The wisdom of the same person determines whether the weapons are advanced or not, and directly determines the success or failure of the war.  Later generations of Americans understood this truth very well and always implemented it.  The United States has gathered elites from all over the country to engage in weapons research and development, manufacturing, and actual combat. The United States' national science and technology policy for its country is to first apply the latest and best scientific and technological achievements to military equipment, and to give the best treatment and social status to military equipment talents.  The purpose is to use the best talents in the country to concentrate all efforts to win every war.

If you fall behind, you will be beaten.

This is what the great man said. In fact, many people only understand half of it. They think that backward weapons will lead to the failure of the war, forming the theory of military force. In fact, both views are wrong. The theory of military force only judges the results from superficial phenomena. There is no  They deeply analyze the essence and claim to be materialists. In fact, they commit metaphysical materialism. They only look at the phenomenon and do not know the essence. The essence of weapons is human creation, and human factors determine the factors of weapons.

Let¡¯s look at the theory of humanism. Humanism emphasizes the quality of individual soldiers and the will to fight, saying that these two points are the decisive factors in war.  It is okay to say that these two points are auxiliary factors, but it is nonsense to say that they are decisive factors.

Not to mention that the suicide bombings of Muslims show that the bravery of Muslims is definitely higher than that of ordinary people. Even women and children will die together with the Americans without blinking an eye. For ordinary people, even ordinary soldiers, to do such a thing, I am afraid they will have to pee.  Trousers, but who is sure that they can defeat the regular army.

Let¡¯s look at the quality of individual soldiers. All of Zenglinqin¡¯s Mongolian cavalry were highly skilled in martial arts and had superb riding skills. Their individual soldier quality was the best in the world. However, they were completely wiped out in front of a group of British and French troops armed with guns. The elites of Britain and France were all in Europe.  battlefield.

This group of British and French allied forces are just a group of second-rate soldiers recruited temporarily. There is no individual quality at all. They have just learned how to fire shotguns.

The emergence of weapons is a phenomenon, and human creation is the essence.

Weapons are an important factor in determining the outcome of a war, and talents are the decisive factor in determining the outcome of a war.

At present, due to the emergence of Du Rui, although the flintlock gun that was born in advance is ahead of this era, it is not qualified to become an important factor!

¡°To put it simply, today¡¯s wars still have to be fought by people.

The reflections of Xue Rengui and Du Yaozu had to worry Du Rui, because the appearance of the flintlock made them mistakenly believe that victory in the war was within easy reach. This was very dangerous, especially this time the opponents began to forge a legacy of bravery in history.  Arab Army.

The flintlock gun can be said to be a way to enrich the Tang army's offensive methods, but it must not be a method that the Tang army can rely on when fighting at this stage.

"Do you think that with this flintlock gun in hand, there will no longer be any opponent for the Tang Dynasty in the world?"

Du Rui suddenly asked such a question. Not only Du Yaozu, who had already seen the power of the flintlock gun, but also Xue Rengui were stunned. In their opinion, if such a powerful magic weaponIf weapons cannot determine the outcome of a war, what else can determine the outcome?

In particular, they all know that during Du Rui's voyage, he used the mobile fire in the Egyptian province to kill the Arab army and suffered a huge defeat. Now that there are more advanced firearms than the mobile fire,  Victory was naturally in the hands of Tang Jun.

Seeing this, Du Rui said: "Based on the current power of the flintlock gun and the form of war, the flintlock gun is obviously not enough to decide everything. I ordered the announcement of the development of this flintlock gun, but I hope that the Tang army can be defeated."  Introducing another kind of war, Tang Dynasty gradually became familiar with this hot weapon. Although the flintlock gun is very powerful, it is still early to decide the outcome of a war!"

After hearing what Du Rui said, Xue Rengui and Du Yaozu immediately calmed down. Xue Rengui is a veteran on the battlefield, and Du Yaozu is also a battle-hardened general. After being reminded by Du Rui, they immediately woke up and went to see the man who had just been killed.  During the shocking musket battle, I discovered many problems that had been ignored before.

Xue Rengui reacted first, cupped his hands towards Du Rui and said, "Thank you, brother, I have learned a lesson!"

Du Yaozu was also full of embarrassment. Just now, he really thought that with this musket battle formation, he could dominate the world. Now that Du Rui reminded him, he realized that he was just a frog in the well.

Du Rui smiled when he saw this and said: "Actually, it is not an exaggeration to say that this musket is unique in the world. As long as I, Datang, work hard on research, one day we will develop a more advanced and more powerful musket. When the time comes, just imagine  Let¡¯s see what the scene will be like when we hold muskets with faster firing speed, longer range and greater lethality against the enemy¡¯s spears and bows!¡±

Xue Rengui and Du Yaozu couldn't help but feel itchy after what Du Rui said. They imagined the scene Du Rui described. In the end, they both came to the same conclusion - massacre!

Du Rui then said to the two of them: "This musket has just been born. Even my Tang army has been practicing it for a while. I don't know much about it. How to use it requires you to study more, but there is one thing you must keep in mind."  Remember, and remember, no matter who the enemy is in Egypt, this musket must not fall into the enemy's hands. If the enemy masters the manufacturing process of this musket, it will do great harm to the Tang Dynasty!"

Du Rui knew that it was because of the defeat of the Mongolian Western Expedition that the firearms manufacturing technology from the Central Plains was introduced to Western Europe. In the end, Westerners relied on the firearms manufacturing technology learned from the East and in turn gave it to the Chinese nation.  Hundreds of years of darkness.

Du Rui must be on guard against this matter. When he thinks of those hundreds of years of darkness, Du Rui's heart is not only full of grief and indignation, but also bursts of desolation. The Chinese nation invented gunpowder, but as a result, his ingenuity has changed.  Over time, it became something that brought disaster to this nation!
